son son ele will have had some hard time what can I say [Applause] [Music] all of my life my life it's been the same in this way I found a cutter full a bottle just a rusty chain rusty chain built in hand [Music] [Applause] sunshine [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh yes I clearly can't remember she was young so very tender line by me close beside me she was turning every to me [Music] [Music] with the same oh just a rusty chain you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] before we get to having solid interviews Georgia Grove right here Carolina Georgia the product at the Nashville school where he's been a producer director engineers singer picker he's written jingles for 15 years jingles never wrote back I to my left of my old buddy Roger gamble who grew up exposing himself to music and a little about the Church of the mountains of North Carolina yeah I did my first exposure was in a little Baptist Church but I had to get out of it they had 10 commandments and that's a little rough on me so I I found a church had two commandments and they do the best you can here's the song it's a new song that we hope you like it'll probably be the musical vehicle that will thrust us once more into the financial line white and we're gonna make a lot of money off the tune we think and when we do we're gonna retire again it's called the first time you did it hell I can't remember the last time I did choreography by the Marquis de Sun [Music] the first time it happened I'm glad wasn't a car that was owned by my bad person it is one of those times where the front seat requires and you hung your feet over the - shoot him I remember it well I do first-time firstime when did it happen I remember the first type all right she was loose as an old goose in flight it was all very strange but I can't mention her name she's here with her husband tonight [Music] the first time the first time it hasn't happened yet I know that you last when I say the first time I did it my way I carried a purse and did things in Reverse but I know that I'll lick it someday I'm just kidding first time I remember it well I [Music] who mended in heaven [Music] the first time now let me see was with the girl who is bigger than me I took something down there and I put it somewhere into someplace I never did see [Music] leisure song ripped out for the unknown and poked at the time we've called Peter Paul and Mary where have all the flowers gone [Music] [Applause] where have all the flowers gone long time ago where have all the flowers gone young girls picked em everyone went will they [Music] where have all the young girls gone long time past see where have all the young girls called long time ago where have all the young girls called Gandhian made everyone when [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] long time wherever gone [Music] when will they ever [Music] where have all the soldiers gone where have all the soldiers gone long time [Applause] [Music] soldiers gone crazy on will when [Applause] [Music] we have all the great arts gone long time I see we have all the graveyard smog long time [Music] where have all the graveyards pawn multiplied with us everyone [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] this lady we truly love we gotta get her right back [Applause] [Music] she's before food like with him anytime [Music] ladies and gentlemen know each other [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] there's something so very special about the folk tradition because increase it really creates a wonderful sense of community not only for the singers themselves but obviously for the audience as well because that's really what folk music is about it's about loving [Music] first of all I would like to say a word or two I know he won't be thinking this applies to you but it's true and it all your life you have had to sing your soul alone not believing anybody but you're wrong and you know [Music] now on the meaning is do [Music] around see what [Music] I would like to thank you for the word or to fall in in the moments when I'm needed but it's see me through and you did [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] sometimes in television they say my dearest friend or my good friend and it's nonsense because they never met each other in their lives this is not the case my dear friend mr. Tom Paxton [Applause] [Music] [Applause] part of that community feeling that I was talking about needs your participation so you're going to sing this song with us and you will I know some of you know it from before and others of you have undoubtedly learned it in camp if you miss the train you will know you can hear the whistle blow hundred miles [Music] [Music] you can hear the whistle oh my [Music] Lord our one Lord I too Oh Lord I'm far from my miles I'm 500 miles [Music] [Music] this [Music] No you can [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] well they have a lot of complaining you'll pay attention pound let the Midnight Special [Music] shine a light on me let the Midnight Special satellite Aldi the midnight shiner ever-lovin my own let the midnight midnight [Music] let the Midnight Special shine a light on me like nice [Music] let the midnight stash [Music] [Music] [Applause] someone once called compacts and direct this in direct descent of Woody Guthrie he's a humorist he's a storyteller a songwriter and a lovely man please say hello to Tom Paxton [Applause] [Music] well I get the feeling that we have a real community feeling here tonight and we probably feel the same way about a lot of things for example I know that you probably get the same thrill I do once a year in paying my taxes and you know seeing that money get down there to Washington and and I know that you seldom get the feeling that the government's being frivolous with the money that you send them and I seldom get that feeling too but I would like to document one aberrant moment the goal is arising out of sight and the dollar is a sorry shape tonight what the dollar used to get us now won't get ahead of let us know the economic forecast isn't right but amidst the clouds a spot of shining grey I begin to glimpse a new and better way I've devised plan of action worked it down to the last fraction and I'm going into action here today I am changing my name to Chrysler I am going down to Washington DC I will tell some powder what did it for Iacocca would be perfectly acceptable to me I am changing my name the Chrysler I am leaving for that great receiving line and when their hands million granddad I'll be standing with my hand I guess sir I'll get mine when my creditors come screaming for their dog I'll be proud to tell them all they can go they won't have to scream and holler they'll be paid to the last dollar where the endless streams of money seem to flow I'll be glad to tell them all what they must do it's a matter of a simple form or two it's not just from you narration it's a liberal education aren't you kind of glad that I'm in debt to you and I'm changing my name to Chrysler I am going down to Washington DC I will tell some power broker what you did for Iacocca would be perfectly acceptable to me I am changing my name to Chrysler I am leaving for that great receiving line and when there have you standing with my hand yes sir I'll guide mine since the first amphibian crawled out of the slime we've been struggling in an unrelenting climb we were hardly up and walking before money started talking and it's said that failure is an awful crime it's been that way a millennium or two now it seems there is a different point of view if you're a corporate Titanic and your failure is gigantic down in Congress there's a safety net view so I'm changing my name the Chrysler I am going down Washington DC I will tell some power broker how what you did for Iacocca would be perfectly acceptable to me I am changing my name the Christ's life I am leaving for that great receiving line and when they hand the million grand out of his standing with my hand yes sir I'll gas or when they hand a million grant out I'll be standing with my hand I guess sir I'll get [Applause] [Music] an evening of folk music would be incomplete without paying a tribute to one of the greatest groups of all time the weavers there are so many songs that they recorded over the years good night Irene on top of old smokey I followed the drinking gourd lonesome traveler just to name a few and tonight some very special friends are going to pay tribute to gonna do it [Music] dippity-doo it and red dyes the one thing for sure it's gonna be a hairy 4-year Ronnie [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] once again Judi column [Music] [Applause] [Music] isn't it rich are we appear me here at last on the ground where are the clowns [Music] isn't it [Music] you approve one who keeps staring around who can't move but the clouds there are to be clothes well maybe next [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a lot of sellers in the corners and I think this occurs from other groups Pete Seeger was with the weavers John Sebastian the lovin spoonful and of course Mary from Peter Paul and Irving well our next guest was a member of one of the finest groups in folk music the limeliters he's been on his own for years some sort of social problem I guess will you welcome glutton Yarborough [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] see [Music] of the sky they are one they must speak but baby Ramos my baby the wind
