call them chunks of inspiration stuck in there and all those little verses that song we just sang reminds me of feast of tabernacles we were you know full house singing loud praising yahweh well um read psalm 12 verses 1 through 8 let's read that together as our portion for today help yahweh for the righteous man ceases for the faithful disappear from among the sons of men they speak idly everyone with his neighbor with flattering lips and a double heart they speak may yahweh cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things who have said with our tongue we will prevail our lips are our own who is master over us for the oppression of the poor for the signing of the needy now i will arise says yahweh i will set him in the safety for which he yearns the words of yahweh are pure words like silver tried in a furnace of earth purified seven times you shall keep them o yahweh you shall preserve them from this generation forever the wicked proud on every side while violence is exalted among the sons of men hallelujah praise yahweh the psalmist knew what he was talking about because he's talking about our times especially there the wicked prowl on every side when violence is exalted among the sons of men we see that in the news media nowadays being glorified we have our torah reading deuteronomy chapter 3 and then we will have our evangel reading matthew chapter 9 brother chris faulty will come forward do deuteronomy chapter 3 and then after that matthew chapter 9 brother terrell dickerson will come forward brother chris it's about shalom deuteronomy chapter 3. then we turned and went up the way to bashan and og the king of bashan came out against us he and all his people to battle at edri and yahweh said unto me fear him not for i will deliver him and all his people and his land into thy hand and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto sihon king of the amorites which dwelt in heshbon so yahweh our elohim delivered into our hands og also the king of bashan and all his people and we smote him until none was left to him remaining and we took all his cities at that time there was not a city which we took not from them three score cities all the region of arghab the kingdom of bashan all these cities were fenced with high walls gates and bars beside unwalled towns a great many and we utterly destroyed them as we did under scion king of heshbon utterly destroying the men women and children of every city but all the cattle and the spoil of the cities we took for a prey to ourselves and we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the amorites the land that was on this side of jordan from the river of arnon unto mount hermon which hermann the sidonians call cyron and the amorites call it shinur all the cities of the plain and all gilead and albashan unto salka and edri cities of the kingdom of og in bashan for only odd king of bashan remained of the remnant of giants behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron is it not in rabbath of the children of alman nine cubits was a link thereof and four cubits the breath of it after the cubit of a man and this land which we possessed at that time from aror which is by the river arnon and half mount gilead and the cities thereof gave i unto the reubenites and to the gilead the gadites and the rest of gilead and all bashan being the kingdom of ogh gave eye unto the half tribe of manasseh all the region of argo with all bashan which was called the land of giants yahir the son of manasseh took all the country of argob unto the coast of gesheri and mcathie and called them after his own name jar unto this day and i have and i gave gilead unto makker and unto the reubenites and unto the gadites i gave from gilead even unto the river arnon half of the valley and the border even unto the river jabuk which is the border of the children of amon the plain also and jordan and the coast thereof from kynareth even unto the sea of the plain even the salt sea under ashtos piska eastward and i commanded you at that time saying yahweh your elohim hath given you this land to possess it ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of israel all better meet for the war but your wives and your little ones and your cattle for i know that you have much cattle shall abide in your cities which i have given you until yahweh has given you has given rest unto your brethren as well as unto you and until they also possess the land which yahweh your elohim hath given them beyond jordan and then shall you return every man unto his possession which i have given you and i commanded joshua at that time saying thine eyes have seen all that yahweh your elohim have done unto these two kings so shall yahweh do unto all the kingdoms whether so whoever thou passest you shall not fear them for yahweh your elohim he shall fight for you and have sought yahweh at that time saying o my sovereign yahweh thou hast begun to show thy servant thy greatness and thy mighty hand for what ellis is there in heaven or in earth that can do according to thy works and according to thy might i pray thee let me go over and see the good land that is beyond jordan that goodly mountain and lebanon but yahweh was wroth with me for your sakes and would not hear me and yahweh said unto me let it suffice thee speak no more unto me of this matter get thee up into the top of pisgah and look and lift up thine eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward and behold it with thine eyes for thou shalt not go over this jordan but charge joshua and encourage him and strengthen him for he shall go over before this people and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see so we abode in the valley over against beth poor hallelujah shabbat shalom matthew 9 a para paralyzed man healed and forgiven he entered into a ship and passed over and came into his own city and behold they brought to him a man sick of palsy lying on a bed and yahshua seeing their faith said unto them unto the sick of the palsy son be of good cheer thy sins be forgiven thee and behold the certain of the scribes said within themselves this man blasphemeth yahshua knowing their thoughts said wherefore you think evil in your hearts for whether it so whether it's easier to say thy sins be forgiven thee or to say arise and walk but that ye may know that the son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins then said he to the sick of palsy arise take up thy bed go unto thine house and he arose and departed to his house but when the multitude saw it they marveled and glorified elohim which had given such power unto men and as yahshua passed forth from thence he saw a man named matthew sitting at the receipt of custom and he said unto him follow me and he arose and followed them and it came to pass as joshua yahshua said at meat in the house behold many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples and the pharisees saw it and said unto his disciples why edith your masters your master with republicans and sinners but yahshua heard that and he said unto them they that be whole need not a physician but they that are sick but go ye and learn what meaneth i will have mercy and not sacrifice for i am not come to call the righteous but centers but sinners and the repentance then came to him the disciples of john saying why do we and the pharisees fast oft but thy disciples fast not and yahshua said unto them can the children of the bride chamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them but the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them and then they shall fast no man put it a piece of new cloth onto an old garment for that which is put into fill it up take it from the garment and rent is made and the rent is made worse neither do men put new wine into old bottles else the bottles break and the wine run it out and the bottles perish but they put new wine into new bottles and both are preserved while he spake these things unto them behold there came a certain ruler and worshiped him saying my daughter is even now dead but come and lay thy hands upon her and she shall live and yeshua rose followed him and so did his his disciples and behold a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood 12 years came behind him and touched the hem of his garment for she had within herself she had said within herself if i may just if i may but touch his garment i shall be make i shall be whole but yahshua turned about and when he saw her he said daughter be of good comfort thy faith has made thy whole and the woman was made whole from that hour and when yahshua came into the ruler's house and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise he said unto them gift place for the mate is not dead but sleep it and they laughed at him with to scorn but when the people were put forth he went in and took her by the hand and the maid arose and the fame hereof went abroad into all that land and when yahshua departed thence two blind men followed him carrying crying and saying thou son of david have mercy on us and when he was coming to the house the blind man came unto him and yahshua said unto them believe ye that i am able to do this and they said unto him yea master then touch he their eyes saying according to your saying according to your faith be it unto you and their eyes were opened and yahshua strightly charged them saying see that no man know it but they when they were deported spread abroad his fame in all of the country as they went out behold they taught they brought to him a dumb man possessed with the demon and when the demon was cast out the dumb spake and the multitudes marveled saying it was never so seen in israel but the pharisees said he casted out devils through the prince of devils and yahshua went about all the cities in the villages teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people but when he saw the multitudes he was moved with compassion on them because they fainted and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd then said he unto his disciples the harvest is truly plenteous but the laborers are few pray ye therefore the master of the harvest that he will send forth laborers and to his harvest praise yahweh hallelujah thank you brother chris and brother tyrell we don't have any special offerings so at this time i just want to take some time out to read something here out of a book that definitely applies to what we're into it starts out like this it says these are duties whose worth cannot be measured honoring one's father and mother acts of love and kindness diligent pursuit of knowledge and wisdom hospitality to strangers visiting the sick celebrating with bride and groom consoling the bereaved praying with sincerity and making peace where there is strife and the study of torah leads to them all hallelujah that's a beautiful section i took this from this prayer book that i have i might have shared it with you before but uh it's definitely a nice reading and uh inspirating you know uh you can definitely find the scriptures in that we also have our mish pocah i believe that's our next section right before we go into our next song we have brothers from far and wide and we have a special visitor from audis she brought us some warmer weather we just have to wait till the end of the week but it's okay that's fine you know we continue in our walk and we seek yahweh whether it's freezing outside or whether it's you know real hot it doesn't matter like i said we have our mishpockah we have our sabbath family our familia we are brothers from far and wide and we encourage one another and so much the more as you see the day drawing near not just encouraging one another if we're going through tough times but as we heard you know from that call from israel you know the feasts are approaching we encourage one another to come to the feast and one thing that i found interesting if you're curious a lot of the sites that they search were levi uh towns and they knew what they were doing because they were the ones entrusted to you know bring that offering to almighty yahweh they had to do it at the right time because of the way the barley works your crops could be damaged very very quickly so hallelujah we have a in antigua and also i believe that's barbados that's in the caribbean our caribbean friends brothers and sisters plattenburg bay in south africa in belgium we have idaho springs colorado cuyahoga falls ohio salisbury new hampshire gary indiana circleville ohio houston texas acton california hickory hills illinois kingsport tennessee connecticut northwest barberton ohio oviedo florida southwest ohio beckley west virginia bakersfield california oklahoma city oklahoma topeka kansas rogers arkansas st louis missouri san marcos california graham north carolina and worth texas so those are just a few of the brothers and sisters family friends maybe you're new to this uh you know you hear this talk about a new moon you hear this talk about sabbath you hear this talk about passover unleavened bread we still come before yahweh and we offer sacrifices of thanks and praise and uh it's a beautiful thing we do it as one family because he always called us to do this and we get this beautiful sabbath day where we get to rest we don't have to worry about work we get to celebrate yahweh's time and we get to learn of him and we're going to hear a awesome sermon coming up after the selection by elder allen called the father fact if you would let's all rise and we will sing to almighty yahweh once again let's continue to bless almighty yahweh we're sounding great so lift up your voices to almighty yahweh brother jason sanchez will lead us once again so [Music] so [Music] yahweh is my light and my salvation shall i feel [Music] and [Music] [Music] for her salvation oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] cities [Music] is [Music] is my salvation hallelujah talking about yahweh is our light he's our salvation one thing about this walk you have to do your own homework come to the conclusion you have to use yahweh's spirit you have to pray for guidance you have to ask questions you have to ask yahweh questions and he will send you the answer at this time let us remain standing i'll call on elder allen mansager if you all please join me in prayer almighty father as we gather on your sabbath day a day that you set aside for contemplation and focus on you and and all the good things you have for your people we pray that you will continue to be with us and guide us during these trying times and that you'll always be our healer our guide our strength and in that regard we ask for a special anointing on those who are struggling with health and whatever issues they might have that you would be there yahweh rafa we also ask for your guidance on those who are seeking you and those who have a special desire to become one of yours one day when yahshua returns to enter into your family and that we could all rejoice as we gather together at that time so we pray almighty yahweh though you bless this gathering may these words be yours in yahshua's name we pray hallelujah and you may be seated great to have everyone visiting here we want to welcome those the mishpatha family who are tuning in right now and want to welcome you from wherever you are we're uh we're struggling like many with with the weather but it's going to end soon and then we will have forgotten all about it you know the most important building block of any society any society any culture is the family and the family foundation is the father yeah we designed it that way yeah we wanted it to be that way in the last 50 years though the father's significance has largely been diminished in our culture and i suppose in other cultures as well men and fathers have been under attack since the start of the women's liberation movement back in the 1960s one sitcom after another i don't know if you've lived in that era but one sitcom after another was a put down to the father in the family father was a doddering adult stupidly going through life with much smarter mother and children laughing at him basically the effects of those assaults on fatherhood have not been lost on the culture either the apostle paul addresses the family structure in his epistle to the ephesians giving excuse me proper honor and respect to the father he writes wives submit to your own husbands as to the master for the husband is head of the wife as also messiah is head of the assembly and he is the savior of the body therefore just as the assembly is subject to messiah so let the wise be to their own husbands in everything his authority doesn't give him the right or the go-ahead to be a tyrant either on the contrary the father has to be an example to the family husbands love your wife just as messiah also loved the assembly and gave himself for her ephesians 5 22 to 25. now that's a pretty weighty charge when you think about it you best not dispute with anything tying yahshua to the assembly now some people don't want to hear that in this culture they're tied into the liberation movement of what 60 years ago but neither must a father abuse his authority in the family he has some responsibilities as well that's what i want to talk about today excuse me as strange as it may sound fatherhood is a emerging field of study today and scientists are making up for a lot of lost time by looking at the impact of the father on the culture and on the family they've been releasing conclusive data about the effects of the father's diminishing effectiveness and how it's affecting our culture almost daily academic journals are publishing new data that illustrate how dads impact their children without a father a child is much more likely to engage in activities that are abusive or harmful studies have shown that two-thirds 66 percent 66 percent 6 out of 10 of young people who commit suicide are from fatherless homes eighty-five percent of children who exhibit behavioral disabilities or dis orders thank you are from fatherless homes eighty percent of rapists are from fatherless homes 71 percent of high school dropouts are from fatherless homes 75 of all adolescents in drug abuse centers are from fatherless homes seventy percent of juveniles and state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes eighty-five percent of youth in prison are from fatherless homes eighty-five percent one reoccurring theme in all of these studies is that without strong fathers in the family guidance is going out the window in too many ways yeah we knew what was he was doing when you know he created man and woman together and brought them together to form a family the family needs both without this core unit we established that creation no culture has a chance of surviving and our family as we know is under attack today people want to change the family and the results are right before our eyes every day in the news but a perverse and profane culture is trying to change what is bringing disastrous results unknown to many fathers are just an essential to healthy child children development as mothers are men and women are different they just are they're wired differently they dress different differently they eat differently oftentimes think differently mothers and fathers parent their children differently as well a father brings to parenting like no one else moms fulfill their parenting job different from fathers as a child if i scrape my knee i would run to mom for some sympathy mccur comb and a band-aid if a neighborhood bully threatened me with bodily harm i'd go to dad for a dose of courage and for insight into how i should properly respond you ever gone to a playground and listened what's going on just listen to the parents who's out there encouraging the child to pump the swing higher run faster ride your bike higher throw a little harder and who was out there cautioning the kids be careful don't go too far out in the water rest when you get tired dads encourage and challenge to push the limits while mothers protect that's the difference right there either of these parenting approaches alone has its own drawbacks one tends to encourage risk without consideration of the consequences the other tends to avoid risk and each of them will fail in their own way ultimately but together mother and father as a team help children to be safety conscious while expanding their experiences and increasing their self-assurance fathers do that they push push the children or should it's a powerful symbiosis when you think about it neither style is adequate in and of itself but taken together they balance each other and equip the next generation with a healthy successful approach to life and that's the way yahweh intended it to be many emotional social and behavioral benefits are linked to having a dad in the picture in early childhood early earlier the better one 1991 study found that infants attained higher cognitive scores at age one if their fathers were involved in their lives even from one month old toddlers scored higher at 36 months if their dads played an active role in their lives from birth the trend continues a father who plays with his children develops a bond that's going to last a lifetime but if the father's not there then what then what you know they say that young guys join gangs because they want some kind of leadership that they're not getting at home they're not getting a father to help them guide them so they look forward elsewhere and of course as we saw this summer gangs aren't the best place to go do you remember the story of the young elephants remember that there was a game preserve somewhere over in africa or whatever and they were transferring some of the male element elephants to another game preserved for breeding and so forth well then something happened all the young adolescent elephants left were going around creating havoc they were stomping on the baby elephants they were pushing the mother elephants around and breaking things and wrecking stuff and they couldn't figure out what's going on why why why they thought oh it wasn't they weren't doing this before hey so they brought back several of the big bull elephants immediately immediately it stopped immediately didn't take much to get them back in line but you see without that authority even elephants go crazy dr david paperon professor of sociology at rutgers and co-director of the national marriage project provided a clear overview of the subject i thought was very good here's what he has to say dads provide kids with a broader diversity of social experiences they also introduce them to a wider variety of methods of dealing with life they tend to stress rules justice fairness and duty and discipline and this way they teach children the objective and the consequences of right and wrong they give kids insight into the world of men they prepare them for the challenges of life and demonstrate by example the meaning of respect between the sexes in an analysis over a hundred studies on parent-child relationships it was found that having a loving parent-child relationship a loving and nurturing father was as important for a child's happiness well-being and social academic success as having a loving and nurturing mother research from the university of pennsylvania shows that children who feel a closeness and a warmth with their father are twice as likely to enter college eighty percent less likely to be incarcerated and half is likely to show various signs of depression in a 26 year year-long study researchers found that the number one factor in developing empathy in children is father involvement father spending regular time with their children translated into children who became compassionate adults you see the cause and effect you see what children can learn from parenting proper parenting another difference is the way fathers communicate now we've all seen mothers and their children and they kind of talk down a little bit use their language you know try to get into their heads that way well fathers aren't quite as inclined to do that they don't modify their language as much for the child that the mother's way facilitates immediate communication but the father's way challenges the child to expand his communication expand his vocabulary and his linguistic skills an important building block of academic success fathers also discipline differently fathers tend to observe and enforce rules systematically and sternly teaching children the consequences of right and wrong imagine what you get when you don't have that you get what we see right now in our culture mothers tend toward grace and sympathy providing a sense of hopefulness with the child again either these approaches by themselves have something lacking but together they create a happy healthy family a proper balance over doing both coddling and discipline can be counterproductive when i was 10 years old a family across the street had a toddler named stanley stanley was kind of disciplined challenged one day stanley goes out to the middle of the road and stands there he's a toddler mother yells out from the window stanley get back here no response stanley get out of the yard you come out of the street come back into the yard no movement stanley for the last time i'm going to get my stick if you don't get back into this yard stanley for the fourth time i mean it got ridiculous they would get just plain ridiculous and it was actually kind of kind of entertaining watching it but uh when i was a kid at 10 i didn't even care one way or the other really but you know fathers prepare their children for the reality and harshness of the world involve dads with their more direct approach help children see what's right in their attitude and their behavior and that they have both have consequences for instance fathers are more likely than their mothers to tell their children if if they're not nice to other kids they're not going to have any friends to play with or if they don't do well in school they'll not secure a desirable job as they get older fathers provide a healthy balance a pallet a different look at the world because they're out there in the world normally i mean back in the 50s when i was growing up mothers were home fathers did the work but that changed pretty much after the war mothers had to go back to work because fathers were fighting wars so that kind of changed our culture back then girls and boys who grew up together with a father are more familiar and secure with the male world his examples are their road map to know what is correct male behavior girls with uninvolved married fathers are more likely to have with involved i'm sorry with involved married fathers are more likely to have healthier relationships with the opposite sex because they learn from their fathers how proper and decent men act toward women they learn which behaviors are inappropriate they learn that from their fathers and they can learn some of these things obviously from their mother but you get this constant input from fathers and it starts to sink in after a while you know boys who grow up with dads are less likely to be violent they have their masculinity affirmed through their father who keeps them in check they learn how to challenge their their masculinity in positive ways some reason you know you get a couple of teenage boys together what do they do next thing you know they're wrestling you know i did it too i don't know why i got to thinking about what was always wrestling it just kind of crazy i guess it's a test somehow unspoken test of uh who they are i guess i don't know well anyway you know it's interesting what the bible has to say about all this too what the bible has to say about the role of men what responsibilities do fathers have in this world the bible talks about that we see examples of that in scripture paul wrote but if anyone does not provide for his own and especially for those of his household he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever king james says infidel this is a little milder he's worse than an unbeliever in other words unbelievers are kind of acting like that anyway on a basic level a father must provide the necessities of his family he has no patience for deadbeat dads who run from their responsibilities again when i was 10 i had a best friend best friend had four other brothers and sisters one day their father went to work and never came back i mean he never came back here was a mother they just built a house five kids and she had all this responsibility on her she had to sell the home move into a lesser place go to work i kept thinking to myself how could a dad do that how could he do that to that poor mother and his children i i don't understand unless he's got some mental problem i don't know but that was always bothering me all the way through my thinking back all the way through my years abandoning the family is one of the most despicable things despicable acts i i can think a father can do just up and leave the only obligation more important than reading the word is living the word if we read the word without putting our understanding into action our efforts and understanding are vain what good did it do if you don't put it into practice another duty of a father as a disciplinarian and a teacher of the word is to share that with others it's another reason children need a father's influence in the bible a father who is big time m.i.a in this duty was the high priest eli he failed miserably with his two sons hopny and phineas two priests perverse priestly sons his softness on their sins is one of the worst examples of the peril of poor parenting in scripture and the results are disastrous first samuel 2 12 calls them the sons of wickedness because their father did not take firm action against their actions against polluting of the priesthood taking advantage of the priesthood greatly sinned and both the family and the nation of israel suffered because of it as a result israel was defeated by the philistines i remember that he's the high priest his sons are priests israel is defeated by the philistines two sons were killed in one day hofny and phineas the ark was taken by the philistines remember that put before dagon and fell on dagon falls on his face and breaks up and his daughter-in-law gave birth to a child named ichabod meaning the glory is departed from israel all because eli did not discipline his wicked sons eli himself i guess a big fat man he just 95 years older falls over dies breaks his neck an amazing truth of scripture is that many characteristics of the good father are reflected in the same in our heavenly father because it should that's why they're called father you know they have children yahweh has children too according to the author of hebrews discipline is one of them and you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as sons my sons my son do not despise the chastening of yahweh nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by him don't be discouraged when you face chastisement for whom yahweh loves he chastens you sees like a father should a dead be dead doesn't care he didn't care what happens to him a loving father who cares will make sure they're corrected so they don't do that again that they don't live to grow up doing such things and learning from their mistakes if you endure chastening elohim deals with you as with sons but what son is there whom a father does not chasten what son in quotes is a son who the father doesn't correct of which all of you have become partakers than you are legitimate and not sons hebrews 12 5. how does the son get correction when the father is awol how does that happen if we're not being rebuked and corrected we're not considered legitimate sons of yahweh so when you have problems when you have trials think about that don't just think of poor me think of ooh is there something that i need to be doing some change i need to be making not always but oftentimes it is that way a father who doesn't discipline his children has no regard for them through discipline yahweh cho shows that he has concern for his people as well correction or admonition should not be considered bad corrections often are the catalyst to change it makes you rethink ever notice how rebellious child changes his attitude real quick when he's getting corrected sternly he changes real quick he starts kind of grabs him by the you know by by the neck and says hey you know what you've done you know how important it is not to do that and he starts rethinking recalibrating his actions scripture is clear that it's yahweh's will that all mankind be saved he doesn't want anybody to to be lost he wants everyone to come to the knowledge of the truth and come to him as father we can find that ezekiel 18 23 first timothy 2 4. it's also given that obedience is part of salvation it's not the mechanism of salvation but it's the responsibility of every believer to obey the father romans 7 1 acts 5 32 which makes us worthy in yahweh's eyes see yahweh's got a he's developing a collection a group of people a group a pool of people that he wants yahshua then to choose from these are the the ones that are called in this pool and then those who are chosen are chosen from that pool yahweh calls yahshua chooses he's the judge as yahweh's correction is advantageous to those he calls a father's correction is also beneficial to children they need it they have to have it they have to have boundaries children without boundaries you know like a fish just flopping around out of water not knowing what to do they have to feel that they feel secure when they have boundaries when they have limits so they know their limits that's the other thing they have to know what's acceptable what's not and they feel secure from that that's been shown over and over and over through studies and examples in the book of proverbs solomon speaks of the benefits of a father's admonition for instance in 3 12 he compares the discipline of the father to to yahweh he says for whom yahweh loves he corrects just as a father the son in whom he delights there's so much parallel in scripture to yahweh is establishing us in a family and he developing a family himself one day in his kingdom solomon in his wisdom wrote that as yahweh corrects those he loves a father does the same if parents want their children to be well behaved sons and daughters of the most high then correction is crucial they need it we all need it we all stray every so often we all need to be corrected those who receive no admonition are those who often fall off the path of righteousness parents must discipline with a desire to see their children be morally right correction or admonition should not be viewed negatively there is more hope for a child who receives correction than from one who is spoiled without it but that even that is becoming taboo in our culture today solomon in proverbs 23 13 wrote do not withhold correction from a child for if you beat him with a rod he will not die you shall beat him with a rod and deliver his soul from the grave now the word for beat is the hebrew nikah which is a primitive root meaning to strike doesn't mean to you know beat him within an inch of his life it just means spare the rod and spoil a child it does not mean physical abuse as with all things in the word discipline requires balance each more important in how we do different things as far as discipline goes but even more than that the important example that a parent leads shows the child how he should behave you know don't do what i say do what i do it's really true that's why children learn they learn by the actions of their parents and believe me they're watching they know what's going on they watch it they see the parents in action they see them at the dinner table they see them you know every day and they're learning from it they can have a good example and of course they can have a poor example and that poor example continues on generation after generation until someone finally breaks the cycle so turn up a child the way he should go and when he is old he won't depart from it solomon says proverbs 22 6 how was that accomplished anyway how does that work you train him up in the way you should go because so many parents have so many problems with their children how is that accomplished well besides correcting an admonition and and correcting them immediately not waiting for a week or something or have this big talk you just correct them so you know they get it right away a parent must be willing to spend time with his children that's the other key they got to spend time learning and teaching there's nothing that's greater and more important than spending time with your children too many fathers don't realize the impact they have on their families as a father there's nothing more important than spending time with your child it's truly sad to find those fathers who ignore that need are not fulfilling the fatherly role and no more important is there that they spend time in yahweh's word that is ultimate of ultimate importance especially doing so with you know the son and daughter our father in heaven commands that we teach our children of him throughout each day of our lives you shall love yahweh your elohim with all your heart with all your soul with all your strength and these words which i command you today shall be in your heart don't just read them they gotta sink in deep you shall teach them diligently to your children how you shall talk of them when you sit in your house is this something yahshua would be doing this is what you should be doing is yahweh happy with you doing this kind of thing when you walk by the way when you're out you know just walking start talking about him use something as a springboard to show yahweh's magnificence and how he guides our lives when you walk by the way when you lie down when you rise up that's deuteronomy 6 5-7 but before you train your children you also have have to have yahweh in your heart you have to have it there's nothing worse than a hypocritical parent who does not live what he is teaching in this passage we find that we are to teach those words diligently to our children the word diligently is the hebrew non which is a another primitive root meaning to point transitive or intransitive intensely to pierce figuratively to inculcate it's like getting a shot of yahweh you know running the vein goes to the heart and to accomplish this goal we find that we're to teach our children yahweh's word his ways we don't do these things on the sabbath i know you want to go out and play but it is a sabbath and we have to honor yahweh at first they might rebel after a while when you don't give up don't give in you say this is the sabbath this is what we do i remember i was telling i guess to my dad one time about something i wanted to do real real bad it wasn't on the sabbath but i want to do something you know is kind of borderline and his response is we just don't do that in this family and that's all the reason i need it i didn't have to go to any large explanation or anything like that that's not what we do because i was identifying with my family and he was identifying me with the family and that even further strengthened our identity together we find that we're to teach these things every day whatever we're doing along with the duty of being chief provider you know the father is supposed to provide for the family disciplinarian and an instructor in the family the father shares the task of nurturing of course this seems to be dominated by the mother but the father also plays a significant part in nurturing of his children so doing he's must be cautious not to discourage children don't overdo it to the point that they just give up or they turn against you you have to show them the why and the love of it and your fathers do not provoke your children to wrath but bring them up in the training and admonition of yahweh ephesians 6 4. there's all sorts of ways you can frustrate them and some fathers just like to tease children and make them frustrated that's not good either a brother in another assembly could never compliment basically anyone especially his family never could compliment his grown son told me he never once in his whole life told him you did a good job not once but he sure was critical but that boy of his never did come to the truth he drove him away by the way he acted paul refers to such as excessive and unwarranted which will ultimately just provoke a child to harbor resentment and hostility and just drive them away some ministers are so restrictive with their children that they eventually rebel anyway sad to say many leaders in the sacred name don't have their children in the faith why why i've wondered that all my life why you know balance is key in discipline if we are harsh in our correction we may defeat the very purpose for that correction when discipline is required the result of discipline is encourage the child and not create enduring anger or animosity along with the role of nurturing a father must show kindness and compassion to his child there are many examples where yahweh's love for his people is compared to the love found between a father and his son such as book of psalms yahweh is merciful and gracious slow to anger and abounding in mercy he will not always strive with us nor will he keep his anger forever he has not dealt with us according to our sins nor punished us according to our iniquities in other words what we really deserve he's holding back right now he's given us time his mercy giving us a chance to repent giving us a chance to change which we all at one point in our lives have to do for as the heavens are high above the earth so great are his mercies toward those who fear him as far as the east is from the west so far has he removed our transgressions from us as a father pities his children so yahweh pities those who fear him who's going to abuse a child he loves that's our first inclination that there's something wrong when a child is being abused by a father the word pity comes from the hebrew word rakham which means to love or to have compassion simple as that solomon wrote that there is a time for every season is there a time as does there a time for correction there's also a time to show loving kindness you know he tells us don't let the sun go down on your wrath make amends but make it firm that you're not going to tolerate whatever the chastisement was for often a show of compassion will impact a child more than correction if yahweh showed only tough correction and disregard mercy and compassion where would we be you see we can put our place in his place paul sets an example that is relevant to all generations you are witnesses and elohim also how holy and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe as you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you as a father does his children first thessalonians 210 children as we all know need a parental guide they need the love of mother and father to give them the right balance to give them the encouragement they need in this life this life is not easy we all know that and it's getting tougher and i i sometimes feel for the next generation what they have to go through you know we we uh they said i lived in what they called the greatest generation you know the post-world war ii time and for about 10 years there it was pretty good along came the 1960s and it became pretty bad and now it's the result of that we're seeing all over the place but having to live in this world is is not easy they're going to need a lot of strength a lot of prayers and a lot of family involvement to help them a father's role is vital to the physical and emotional needs of the family without a father a child often suffers from many things emotional problems which in some cases leads to crime immorality other forms of sin you know yahweh established the family unit with one father and one mother when this is tampered with trouble is just around the corner you can count on it unless somebody is there in their life to pick up the pieces and that can happen too someone who cares grandparent uncle father kind of takes them in and nurtures them that's good in the absence of a father or mother influence that's good to have an influence like that or even somebody else a stranger who takes somebody in we all can think of those times when somebody helped us who didn't have to but they did when we live within the confines of the almighty yahweh established forever we find peace and blessings that can only be found in him so let's keep that in mind when we talk with others maybe help them encourage them with their children if they're having trouble or whatever it might be to know that yahweh is there he's never he never neglects us and we must never neglect our families in any way may yahweh bless you hallelujah thank you for that elder allen and uh in my
