the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris France is just around the corner and with each passing day we are being bombarded with brand new names and big-time performances in track and field over these previous couple of days it has been a nonstop constant stream of action with some amazing performances going down in the Jamaican Athletics invite we saw the legend herself Marie Jose tulo from the Ivory Coast throw down in the 100 meters running the third fastest time in the world this year with a very impressive clocking of 10.91 seconds for a season debut this time was flying and it was actually faster than her debut in 2023 where she opened up her season in 11.12 seconds and then as we all remember she kind of crushed 2023 running under 10.80 on five separate occasions so 2024 could be another year of greatness for Marie Jose tou down in Claremont Florida we saw another 100 met Clash go down this time with kall Williams tying the world lead with Christian Miller in 9.93 and coincidentally this time was achieved on the exact same track where Miller ran his 9.93 there is something going on in Claremont Florida this was a new personal record for kendle Williams and it marks the fifth athlete this year to run under 10 seconds for the 100 m with only 73 days remaining until the Olympic torch is finally lit we are at long last seeing some worldclass athletes break through and cement themselves as genuine metal threats come to Paris games but in regards to New World leading times in 20124 we just saw something go down at this year's southeastern conference championships that dethroned the previous World leading time for a very talented athlete at this year's Texas relays we saw Gabby Thomas the 2023 World silver medalist over the 200 drop a world leading time of 22.08.2012 this year but it was her season opener over this distance whenever Thomas is in good form she is extremely difficult to take down over the 200 M however in this year's SEC championships one athlete from the University of Mississippi ran even faster than Gabby Thomas for this 200 meter finals we had a stacked field of athletes competing for this conference Championship there was Brianna Liston from LSU jamisha Ford from South Carolina felma Davies and nikisha price from Arkansas who just 90 minutes earlier ran a new world lead over the 400 at 49.32 seconds this 200 M field really was one of the better fields that we have seen assembled in 2024 even more so than many professional races throughout the world but one athlete would pull away as the Victorious winner in this super competitive 200 after the opening 100 m McKenzie long from Mississippi had a small lead on this field with jamisha Ford in Hot Pursuit but but with the best strength and speed on the day she held on for the win with a new world lead in 22.3 seconds this time was not only a new world lead but it now makes her the fifth fastest Collegian athlete of all time and it makes her one of the very few athletes to ever repeat as an SEC Champion over this distance as she won the title last season with a time of 22.3 n amazingly this time was fast enough to take down Gabby Thomas' previous World lead at 22 08 which means that right now McKenzie long is the world's fastest over the 200 M the NCAA has been constantly impressing as the months have progressed and this SEC Championship might have been the single greatest example of that in addition to this new world lead we saw New World leads from nikesha Price Christopher Morales Williams and the 400 and even though it wasn't quite a new world lead godson again a Brum also broke 10 seconds under legal conditions for the 100 m and even though the NCAA has been crushing it this year it is important to remember that this is often the case in the early season and even though it does seem as though the NCAA has a slight advantage over the professionals the pros are looking to Peak during the Olympics so they're certainly nowhere near their highest Fitness right now but either way to see this time come from a conference Championship and take down the previous world number one is super impressive and Mackenzie long stands at top the world leaderboards at the moment thanks for watching everyone and as always always until next time
