foreign [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you I got my stripes all glued up and they look really good but if we're gonna do houndstooth we can't have them going up and down we actually need to have them at an angle so we're going to have to make a square inside a square essentially this is what it's going to look like to make this we'll tilt the table saw blade at 45 and we'll cut one of the angles off then we can move it back to 90 cut the other sides off and that's going to make sure that all of our stripes are at an angle [Music] foreign [Music] finally got the stripes the way I want them they're at the right angle so now we continue with the rest of our pattern this is oak and walnut so I need some Oak strips and some Walnut strips [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] I finished Milling up the Walnut and the Oak and I put together my pattern and I think it looks really good so now it's time for glue up and there's a couple things I need to do with this first off I got to make sure that all of my stripes are in the same orientation because if one of them or two of them were off it throws off the entire pattern so I gotta double check that but also there's a lot of strips here and I want to make sure that this is as flat as possible I think the best way to do this would be to make a jig so I'm going to take some particle board put a flat piece make a fence that way I can butt all of this up against the fence and put some calls across the top and they'll just make sure that everything's as flat as possible and then whenever I run into the drum Center to smooth it I won't have to remove very much material [Music] and I've got a ton of gravel in my shoes [Music] foreign [Music] down here [Music] real bad boy [Music] I got the panels out of the clamps and sanded down so now the fun part I need to cut it into strip so I'm going to cut strips all the way through both my panels combine them together and that should make our houndstooth pattern [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] well after all that work we have a cutting board and it looks pretty good even though it's kind of grimy and uneven so it's time to flatten it I have a CNC so that's going to be easy for me I'm gonna throw it in there and let it do its thing if you don't have a CNC I made a video click the link up here it is on how to build a router sled which I used for in-grade cutting boards and for wood slabs so check that out thank you this cutting board looks fantastic so now it's time to apply finish and I'm going to go with my finisher choice on The in-grain Cutting Board which is a really thinned down version of a salad bowl finish I want something that soaks way down deep into the center area of the board and then on the surfaces I'll do wax and oil so I don't puddle any of the soluble finish on the top I just want that down in the core of it I don't want a board that is solid all the way through with mineral oil because mineral oil doesn't dry it's just a big soggy board no one wants a soggy board no now if you have questions on how to apply this particular finish I already have a video on it click the link up here go to my plaid cutting board video go to the end I go over this entire finishing process and explain it in depth step by step The Cutting Board is finally done and it looks phenomenal look at that pattern it turned out way better than what I envisioned in my head this was a bucket list project for me I've always wanted to do a houndstooth pattern so I'm glad that I finally got the chance to make one please like this video and share it with a friend all those things YouTubers tell you to do please do it until we meet again get in your shop and build something awesome [Music] foreign
