This guy does a lot of aboots, oots and hooses. I'm Canadian and I've never heard someone pronounce these words so abruptly like that before.

I think the question in the end is interesting: What remnants of pre-metric measuring systems are used? In Germany, the only ones I can think of are pounds and hundredweights, but those are semi-metric, since in Germany 1 lb = 500 g, and therefore a hundredweight is 50 kg. Those definitions were introduced by the German Customs Union in 1858, whereas the metric system was only adopted in Germany 14 years later, in 1872. Nowadays, pounds are very rarely used, but I think fifty years ago or so they were still common and a hundred years ago, they were definitely still used, even for listing prices of produce I think. I don't think any other old units are used except for this "metric pound". You might count "Maß", which is an old measuring unit for liquids that was slightly larger than a liter, and today, that word is still used for the big one liter beer mugs. But people don't think of it as a measuring unit, it's more the beer mug itself.
