The END of an Era | First Time Playing Red Dead Redemption | Part 16

this video may contain too much awesomeness viewer discretion is advised hello everyone yes I am still in a weird mood today welcome back for some good vibes and video games today we're going to be jumping back into Red Dead Redemption we finally Tracked Down Dutch for the last time and he died and I could not stop gushing about it at well after it happened but also at the end of last episode so if you guys want to hear my thoughts on that feel free to go watch those I I want to jump back in I would talk about it here but uh let's be real we don't have time but if you really want me to go into it I mean I just love how he went out okay I thought it was extremely poetic for who we knew him to be okay from the second game Sorry I was just knocked my controller off of my desk I apologize anyway it was just so poetic for his monologue that he was kind of saying and you could just see how like he was also ready and he saw that moment as like a moment of Pride for him because it was the one moment feels like in his entire life where he was actually able to fully take control and make his own choices but seriously that entire episode story wise was just truly epic it was probably one of my more favorite parts of the game but I feel like that's safe to say for a lot of people though because what happened was just such a massive turn in the story it's been something that I feel like a lot of us are meant to anticipate throughout the whole game now we're able to hang out with John marson's family and we're kind of getting re-introduced well I'm getting reintroduced which is I feel like I should definitely state that because I played the second game already so I'm coming from that perspective of having played that game before this one so for me it's a reintroduction but for all the people playing this game for the first time or you know when this game came out originally before the second game was even a thought for everyone who connects with that perspective on this game you guys are probably meeting them for the first time so it's just I it's something I like to keep at the back of my mind that my perspective of this game is very different from a lot of other people and it's fun to kind of view this game through that lens as well sorry I'm getting philosophical again all right I am ready to jump back in we're teaching our son how to hunt and use the gun and he's was he same as he was when we left angry and dumb taking his revenge out on the world people down there was really scared of him a bill gotta be kidding me he was only threatening if he was afraid of some food bill weren't so bad but when Dutch Went Crazy Bill took it hard for a while we all thought we'd found something right it's a better way to live but it was just alive so you saw before they did maybe but there was still kind of a family a family that left you for dead you knew the truth John and they hated you for it hell those government bastards where did they hold you and Jack I ain't sure they kept their eyes covered there and back can't have been too far from here though they treat you right it ain't the first time I've had a gun in my head John you're forgetting your marriage proposal they learned pretty quick but what happened if they laid a finger on me in there I didn't care about that I've been in far worse situations it was the weight I didn't know if he was coming back of course I was coming back you were only supposed to be gone for a couple of days it took a lot longer than that never any good at without getting caught I started thinking you'd gone back to man you should meet my father oh people can change Miss McFarland John and I have to believe that more than anybody this is a decent first harvest for you dumb you should be proud that's good land you got there how are you feeling Mrs Marston from what your husband told me it must have been awful for you I've been through worse and I knew he'd be back before too long he can't cook a meal to save his life In My Darkest Hours when I was most homesick just the thought of one of your rat meat stews kept me pushing forward yeah no I'm good as a weeping saddle sword ain't he miss McFarland if our little like I guess confirmation Bonnie because she did have feelings she's pretty she's normal like I said well you always wanted to be a Rancher I thought she'd be just your thing the perfect Rancher's last I haven't saw one I already got a Rangers watch season I like her and I'm glad she saved your life most of the time anyways yeah good people she did blush better than a shepherd's Sunset when she saw you though I have that effect on women yeah we only had one too many blows for the head you ain't wrong about that Mrs Marston that's quite a rant they got there that'll be us someday who's back on our feet I don't know John how many times can we start again and Outlaw and a working girl we ain't exactly Farmers we are now forget that life is over do you really believe that we have to it's the only way we'll ever have a future the last we live that doesn't go away it's never over you think those government men are just gonna leave us alone now the old gang's dead I did what they asked and that's it a lot of Pride we're getting we're back together ain't we until they decide you owe them something else true sometimes I think I was the stupid one believe it I can get he's gonna be all right gonna take time for a while his world was safe normal even then it got turned upside down again you ain't saying much about it I've tried to talk to him but how do you explain home sweet home Rufus hey John I guess I better go fix us something to eat they're so funny and they're so cute together oh but man I guess there is like another version of me that kinda would love to see you know him and Bonnie if if circumstances were different I would have loved to have seen how John and Bonnie would have made like a good couple because I definitely think that they would have been just as funny and just as good together because they are like them two are very similar her um Bonnie and Abigail but yeah there is there is a little part of me that kind of wishes that somehow the story would have also made it so that they could end up together I don't know I don't know come back between 5 a.m and 6 p.m all right nighty night all right son I'm here and I'm ready to rock and so I just kind of searched a bunch of very suspicious looking places along the river and I think I finally found it I did not however find this little like Hut here there's this hut that I think is supposed to signify or like give you a hint as to where the treasure map is trying to take you um I never came across that I just found this road so I followed it but I think we finally found the treasure so the campsite is what we want two or so there's the pot three there's some sort of I I don't know divot in the earth and then we're supposed to find it okay so let's go so I think we gotta go straight oh wait a second it's right there in front of me the divot is a lot smaller than I expected we gotta go through this right hi Horse no you don't hurt yourself no hold on a second so it's here obviously right oh my God I'm gonna throw you off the cliff or in into the dirt that that works easiest kill of my life and I didn't have to do anything oh I'm sorry I had to shut you up though R.I.P the one who just like was thrown into Earth's core yated right into the well not the Sun but first core is still pretty hot right all right once again have I over thought this no okay so I think we are supposed to kind of climb down that slope okay maybe maybe I was overthinking I didn't think that I needed to go down there so it seems like there's a little bit of a path here ah oh my oh goodness oh okay this isn't going terribly I haven't died yet oh and then is it supposed to be around here somewhere this looks Mighty interesting I kind of wish I would have gone searching for this in the daytime I feel like it would have been a lot easier all right I think I did something wrong so I'm coming back up here I feel like maybe I went too far something just I couldn't find it I was running around for forever I was like I can't find it nothing stuck out to me so let's try this again oh gosh John on this weird level here oh right I failed to see that this convenient little side of anything you and Mom pretend like nothing happened we just want a better life for you son no rest we'll have you home soon I do think it's always beneficial to be quite honest even though you want to like hide something from somebody because at the very least you can share with them your experiences and then allow them to become knowledgeable enough with what happened with the truth so that they and retired about a year ago last I heard him and his wife moved out to a cabin on Lake Don Julio lucky guy getting to take it easy fighting crime in this dump that's for sure thank you for the information mister wow so we're actually we're actually not done I'm amazed but I'm glad we get to get our revenge hopefully hopefully work your damn neck all right where is Lake Don Julio there it is yeah I got a bullet for you here we go come on wait a second whoa this cabin is in the second game and it's so funny because I didn't know what it was at the time I had I had no I had did not have this connection with it yet this is Edgar's cabin and maybe that's what it's called I don't know in the second game when you when you discover it but I remember this lake so I'm pretty sure this lake is in the second game as well and I remember when I was searching it because I love to explore I came across this cabin I didn't think anything of it I was like oh just a random cabin here like why not oh my gosh it's so cool that it had meaning all right it's time for you to talk to my gun it's over and you know the other thing is too I was fully expecting for the game to roll the credits after John died but then we got to you know take Jack over and then we still didn't get credits I was like something is a miss here we still got to do something else I'm so glad I found it this is gonna bother me young man oh don't you how you do me excuse me ma'am hello young man hi what are you doing out here are you out visiting the lake with your family nope no ma'am I was looking to deliver a letter to Edgar Ross that husband of mine that Bureau just won't get its Talons out of him even though he's retired Edgar gave them some of the best years of his life they ought to let him retire in several bullets in his head [Music] is this it is it finally over that's epic that's that's epic oh my God oh my God so if we ever get a red dead three we're probably gonna play as Jack Steve Martin is the producer like the Steve Martin oh my God this was so good I as much as I'm sad that I almost said Arthur um as as sad as it is that John died it makes sense for the torch to be passed on to his son for sure oh it's so good oh this song oh I just got chills wow I can't believe we're done but you know what that means Undead Nightmare I literally cannot wait for that like I have been low-key waiting for that pretty much my entire playthrough not that I sped through the story to get to the zombies faster but like maybe be just a little bit of me was like I just want to shoot some zombies this game has been absolutely fantastic the story was wonderful I'm still really sad that John Marson died at the end but it kind of feels like that was the natural next step in his story and then to now pass the torch on to Jack and I'm sure if there is I would bet you right now that if they do ever end up coming out with a Red Dead Redemption 3 I'm sure instead of it being a prequel like the second one was I feel like they're now going to write Toby I know I know he's cutting me off he also feels like the third game is going to follow Jack's story and I'm sure I've mentioned this several times throughout the playthrough but I now that I have completed everything or completed both games Red Dead 1 and Red Dead 2 the Main stories looking back I personally am so thrilled that I started with the second game and then finished with the first I just feel like for me being able to approach this game with all the context that I have from the second game really made everything feel much more intense and you know having that connection to Dutch and Bill and uncle from the second game made I think their deaths and everything that happened in the story just so much more impactful because for example with with Uncle in this game since he dies like I could I feel like I could see myself because we only meet him in this game you know technically for the first time because this game came out first we met him only like during the last I don't even know maybe 20 percent of the game so we didn't have that amount of time to build up a relationship and really get to know him as a character like we knew him in the second game where he was with us throughout the whole thing so for me having that background and that perspective on this game going into it I'm really grateful I'm really really really grateful for it I definitely think it made the game a ton of fun and it was also kind of nice going from the mechanics of the second game which if you've never played and maybe if that's your first Red Dead Redemption game maybe you can recall if that was your first Red Dead Redemption game how complex the buttons and the controls and just all of the gaming mechanics were for that game you can see how they took elements from this game and then really expanded on it and then added a lot of survival elements to it with having to feed you know Arthur and seeing him actually gain weight if you over feed him and then same thing with your horse and then having the whole Camp element where you can visit camp and you can upgrade it and you could speak more in depth to all the NPCs going from a game that was so huge and so complex as the second game to this one where it was definitely a little bit more simplified because it came out in 2010 being able to go from something so complex to something so much more simplified for me was honestly a nice change of pace so I'm very happy with the order that I played and it's nice too because this is a very valid way to play both games having the second game been a prequel to this then all the events happen in chronological order but it will forever be super fascinating to me to have never had the opportunity to experience it like so many other people have out there if you play this one first and then play the second game like you fundamentally have a very different experience of these two games than I have but that's now something that I I can probably sit down and talk to my brother a little bit more in depth about he never played the second game I forgot but you know I I kind of want to know what it was like for him to play through the whole story and then see everything unfold without any of the knowledge from the second game and maybe maybe maybe maybe I can talk him into playing the second game I'll see though I'll fill you guys in if I ever break him down enough to get him to play it thank you guys so much for watching this playthrough and once again fret not my friends we are not done I am still planning on playing Undead Nightmare and like I said before it's pretty much one of been one of the main things I've been looking forward to this whole playthrough I've heard that the DLC is so good just on its own as its own Standalone game I've even seen people on Twitter now called X but I will never call it X I've heard a lot of people say that the DLC for this game Undead Nightmare is so many
