the void Century war never ended and you know at this point Vega Punk may as well be an ancient weapon himself because he is relentlessly dropping bomb after bomb all over the world including the particular one that is massive as the one piece planet is a world that we've taken 25 painstaking years to explore that is but a tiny fraction of what this world used to be and there is an extensive set of what were once entire continents sleeping deep below on the ocean floor this feels like when Hunter Hunter decided to spring the Dark Continent on us and the beginning of this chapter is quite trippy as well because both the cover story and the first few panels of the chapter take place on wner and usually the cover stories are completely disconnected from both the time and the place of the main story so I actually liked how fluid this chapter opening was from cover story to main story although I will say that yam mate you have picked the worst possible time to go on this Odin pilgrimage you are missing a massive LW drop right now although maybe not there's every chance that yam already knows about a lot of this thanks to what was written in Odin's Vlog book these are huge Revelations to us readers but both Yamato and Mos know more about the truth of the world than almost any other living fictional person bar figures like silv Ry and any other living beings who actually set foot on laugh tale and maybe that's why MOS is being so casual about this the reaction from the entire oneast is actually quite subdued compared to most people we've seen so far but even then MOS did not know that Joy boy was a pirate and you know something that briefly caught me off guard was shinobu standing in the background because I'd completely forgotten she' reverted back to her slim and more alvita treatment I should say that etra Oda was unusually generous to me specifically this week as I was blessed with appearances from two of my favorite characters who never appear for any reason the first of which being the long ever so long awaited Return of deara Black better known to most as fake luff but now known to most as fake eustus kid and I have to say he looks magnificent deep down I'd always hoped that he and the fake straw hats would return but impersonating the post-time skip straw hats maybe with a fake Brooke and a fake gin Bay to join them but this is so much better although one thing I have to give deara black a ton of credit for is that while his outfits are hilariously poorly cobbled together he does do some pretty amazing work creating realistic fake scars when he was impersonating Luffy I thought that he may have actually scarred himself to take on the role but the scar under his eye it's nowhere to be seen so he just has a genuine talent for makeup and dear black is joined by his own personal Massacre Soldier killer played by drip who was formerly fake Sanji I'm pretty sure that fake heat is being played by mandro who is formerly fake Zoro and as for w I think that's turko who was fake Frankie so it's nice to know that dear black has his own personal wings of the pirate king still with him and I'm quite relieved in a way to see them because the vast majority of the fake straw hats were actually Buried Alive by caribo so you know what the fake straw hats were SP split up and had to regroup just like the original straw hats did on Sab sadly we don't see the rest of the crew but just hear me out power move they're not here because the others are impersonating Trafalga law and the hot Pirates and this scam has gotten way out of control but look mate deara black this dude has a pretty solid set of balls on him to impersonate a man with a three billion Berry bounty on his head although I don't know how he thought this would end any other way other than prison a prison on the G4 Marine base which I think is a new one and I can't tell if it's in the grand line or the new world mostly because G3 is in the grand line and G5 is in the new world so the fork here could go either way but I would like to think that after his crushing defeat on sabed dear black pulled himself together took away all of the wrong lessons and redoubled his effort to impersonate pirates in the new world imagine being sakazuki and getting the call from the G4 Marine base with some lower ranking Marine proudly stating Fleet Admiral Sir we've caught eustus Vega Punk's words because he says some really enlightening stuff in this chapter firstly he reiterates what we already know which is that long long ago 20 Kingdom things joined forces to fight the ancient Kingdom which went on to become the world government and the world Nobles I point that out because once again Vega punk goes to Great Lengths not to pass judgment on either side and he's already done this once before in chapter 1,113 I want to make one thing very clear first whoever may have rendered their judgment unto me I am not trying to convince you that their intent is evil back then I thought this maybe might be a sneaky way of trying not to screw Luffy over in case the world government report that it was he who killed Vega Punk but now I genuinely believe that Vega Punk doesn't know which side of History was correct in this conflict if indeed any side was correct which seems crazy to us because one side has literal demons that ins slave torture and murder people for a bit of fun on Thursday afternoon however in their defense that might just be what that side ended up becoming after having centuries of power gradually corrupting them the founding members of the world government may have had from their perspective good intentions and they may have been individuals who were seduced and or corrupted by St imun Arona also perhaps the ancient Kingdom weren't quite the protagonistic force that we've been led to believe because POV let's say that you're a leader of one of these 20 kingdoms and then you hear that this great ancient kingdom is building three Unstoppable super weapons the ancient weapons that would probably be cause for concern which makes me wonder if the ancient kingdom was similar to VAP Punk so dedicated to the pursuit of Science and progress with very little concern for what their developments could and would go on to be used for Vega Punk states that it was a battle of ideologies which means that neither may have been inherently good or not good evil answer one and I like that Vaga Punk isn't making an immediate judgment on the present based on the past or the past based on the present because he doesn't have enough information which is how I wish more people would be especially online because people are very quick to come to Rock Solid conclusions based on startlingly little and during this section we see what I think is the very first official art of Joy boy who again is not to be confused with the Sun God naika who we've already seen as a silhouette they're different entities and unsurprisingly joy boy looks about as much like Luffy as a silhouette can possibly get it's quite a striking image like something you'd see in a historical painting an overly simplistic depiction of a grand battle one Joy Boy versus 20 ancient Kings if I had to guess at this stage Joy boy himself would be fighting for the same reasons that Luffy does which is because these stuffy Old Kings are cramping his style and he just wants some fresh air and freedom it might be deeper than that a lot of people try to paint one piece as this very politically charged series of a Hero trying to free the world from its chains and Luffy is doing that incidentally and other characters in world are trying to do that but when it comes to the core of everything Luffy just wants a fun adventure during the section we also very appropriately cut to zunesha Naka of Joy boy who is probably listening to in fact checking all of this information with his elephant brain we actually get two shots of zunesha at different points in the chapter the the other one is alongside a shot of The Iron Giant further implying their shared relationship with joy boy and during this part we also catch up with carrot who is now the leader of the Ming tribe in a decision that I still think wasn't particularly well thought out either by nekomamushi in Nashi or by ER Oda who wrote it she's 15 years old there are there are better candidates for tribe leadership granted MOS is only 8 years old and he has to lead Wana right now but that's more so because he's the son of kuk yoden and has about a billion retainers to help out including nekomamushi and inashi who abandoned that post on zo to help MOS and then there's also a surprisingly depressing scene between Edison and Stuy and also kaku's in the background over there so I felt pretty not good about Edison's chances of surviving this conflict but seeing him broken and out of ideas really H aome that this probably isn't going to end well for him and Stuy is at quite a loss as well with the onset of a sudden crisis of self now that Stellar is dead Stuy has no one to live for which I think really hits home because she is a clone so her entire life is already currently occup occupied by the original Buckingham Stuy it's not like she can live for herself herself is already doing that and as bad as I feel about Edison I don't know if I can see Oda killing Stuy especially not in this mental state it reminds me a lot of when Robin resigned herself to death during water 7 and when Oda kills people on the heroic Spectrum he generally does so with them feeling a great sense of satisfaction completion and hope for the future even when Monae died she was happy because her last actions were in service of do Flamingo we also have Kaku to consider he's EES dropping on the conversation from his bubble and he seems quite empathetic to Susi and he may have similar feelings but towards the world government not quite sure if that's what he should be living for so here's my proposal Kaku Stuy and Rob Luchi somehow survive the bustic call and because Luchi and Kaku have world class ship right skills from a Time on water 7 they're able to build an escape vessel and then we get a cp0 cover story now as for Mr Ethan B and Venus Juro he proves to me more and more every chapter why he is the elder to take the most ser seriously he is on a Relentless quest to redeem the five Elders in my mind because right now a lot of them are being a bit useless you've got Saturn up in the somewhere hitting computers with a stick and then there's wyy as a pig standing there yelling into the abyss hoping that that'll do something at least Marcus Mars is destroying a couple of snails while he's taking a nice walk but thankfully Ethan is here to pick up all of their slack and I think there's now enough evidence to seriously ask the question of whether or not Ethan could be considered the world's greatest swordsman because he he sliced that entire lab aase in half very much like how mihawk sliced kuan's Iceberg at marineford it's such a powerful image the difference being that Ethan is also cutting through insanely thick metals and such and really it's not like Ethan's coming down from marijuan just to challenge mihawk and take the title he doesn't care about such frivolities of the surface so alongside figle and Garling we have some shockingly powerful sword people to deal with in the future the panel of Frankie and Bonnie dodging Ethan's strike is also very similar to when Luffy dodged mehaw Marine which is the slash that went on to bisect the iceberg it's an incredibly trippy panel though because it looks like Frankie has shrunk he's so tiny because Bonnie used her powers to become a giant and that's something that definitely messed with my head because we've had so many breaks so frequently that I'd forgotten that Bonnie was still a giant I'd forgotten that she even became a giant that happened in chapter 1,113 and when did that come out April April's when it came out and it's almost June now so these breaks they're messing with my continuity a bit now I've also seen that online there's a bit of complaining about Sanji du to this panel where our poor boy has a very ungraceful Landing which looks incredibly painful and a lot of people seem to have been under the impression that Sanji was going to stroll in and one V one Ethan which is not happening the straw hats are not equipped to take on the elders although with that said Sanji he's probably not down for good his genetically engineered body probably just needs some time to restructure itself however there's quite the consequence to Ethan's actions as he has unintentionally freed both the cp5 agents and the seraphim that were being held in the labase that's a problem because the copol agents currently falling to their deaths as we speak whereas the sarim they're falling to a nice gentle Landing because they're still in those very handy Bubbles and I don't know what happens from here I don't know who if anyone is in position to save these agents because most of the straw hats and our allies are on the rim of the island but everyone here is falling into the center and I know that the Marines later on say they should go and rescue them but these agents need a miracle within the next like 3 seconds or they are going Splat and we don't see this but I believe that slicing through the labase may also o mean the Thousand Sunny and the other straw hats are now falling as well which is a bit awkward because we see that jinbe and Zoro still have yet to hop aboard the ship so chaos ensues as Vega punkk drops bomb after bomb of sweet delicious law stating that the void Century ended with joy boy's defeat and just on that first thing if that's when the void Century ended then when did it begin actually that's a horrible way to phrase that it obviously began 100 years before that point but what I'm trying to get out is how old was Joy boy when he was defeated because if he was a regular human dude man then he would have been born well into the void century and this war would have started long before he had any involvement in it and yet Joy boy is identified as the prime opponent of the 20 kingdoms not the ancient Kingdom Vaga Punk specifically says joy boy and I'd say that's a bit strange unless Joy boy was a giant in which case living for a 100 years that's nothing Giants are barely out of their teenage phase at 100 and it's a pretty cool idea to think of Joy boy struggling for a whole Century during this conflict which as Vega Punk pointed out never ended but we'll get to that because firstly Vega Punk reveals to us that as many of theorized the one piece World used to contain many continents more like the real world however during the void Century sea levels Rose by 200 M and sank the vast majority of the Known World all that was left over was these small parts of continents high enough to become teeny tiny Islands so a lot of One Piece islands that we consider to be completely different probably share a common consonant and common ancestry in fact maybe even all of the islands were once connected in one piece although my question would be why hasn't this been discovered before now because yes the ruins are going to degrade underwater but also they're not really they're actually going to be very well preserved as we see and if there was an entire underground civilization for every island in the world then surely divers and especially fishermen would have come across this before now although that does very much remind me of Jin B's cover story where he visited a town of sea beasts who were having their houses thrown to the surface by wami and that's actually where jinbe found the poneglyph that he delivered to big mom so there jinbe did stumble upon underwater ruins then there's obviously water 7 and wano but I feel like a secret this huge probably would have been discovered by now 200 m is not so deep that the people of the one piece world can't access it meanwhile VAP pun determines that the cause of this uh catastrophe was indeed the ancient weapons which I believe were created by the ancient Kingdom they both have ancient in their name so it must be true and Vega Punk connecting this to emu's weapon I think comes about as close as we can to confirming that what emu used to destroy lulua was Uranus and given that this war still hasn't ended a whole 800 years later I would propose that the only reason why Uranus wasn't being used more frequently is because defeating the ancient Kingdom meant that the mother flame fuel source was lost but from what we can piece together the ancient Kingdom created the weapons for their own destruction whether they made those weapons maliciously for battle purposes or whether it was for more innocent purposes it doesn't really matter at this point and I think this plays nicely into what will be the finale of one piece because both sides of this incoming conflict have both good and bad people fighting for them the Pirates are pretty obvious with the contrast of say Luffy and Blackbeard but on the side of the Marines we also have the struggle of absolute Justice versus the much more pleasant Justice that's actually Justice embodied by Kobe and the sword members so history is complicated very complicated and I cannot wait to learn more in this ridiculously packed Arc
