back in 1905 in South Africa in the Cullinan mine a miner found four feet below the surface something glistening and with a penknife he picked it out and there was this large rock he took it to his surface manager who looked at this great big lump and threw it out the window saying it's a piece of rock crystal the miner retrieved it and they looked at it again and realized that what he had picked out of the side of the mine with his penknife was in fact a 3106 carat rough diamond and it was just our turd the bow wore so it was decided to be given to King Edward the seventh from the Transvaal people as a token of their loyalty unbeknown to anybody they made a replica of the Cullinan stone and they sent it by ship and the captain had it in his safe with guards in front of it all day all night for the long journey back to Europe but meanwhile the real stone was sent unannounced by ordinary mail in a biscuit tin and what I have here in front of me are replicas of what was produced from that piece of rough so out of the Cullinan rough diamond nine principal stones were cut from it and 98 smaller stones the principal stones you have Cullinan one 530 carats and that is set in the sector Cullinan two is set into the Imperial state crown so these two stones Cullinan three and four are then the Royal Collection at buckingham palace and the Queen often wears and together as a brooch they are lovingly referred to as granny's chips because Queen Mary used to love wearing them as
