foreign foreign foreign a village in Bangladesh entirely dedicated to prostitution it's home to 1600 women who sell sex to around 3 000 customers every day some were kidnapped as children by gangs some sold by family members others tricked by boyfriends or pimps many will never leave amongst them lived 300 children most of them born here struggling not to be swallowed up by the town's only trade disha is one of them because she doesn't go to school she spends her days on the streets despite her Constitution that promises to prevent gambling and prostitution the Bangladeshi government has effectively decriminalized the selling of sex in the village disha was abandoned by her real mother and found in a train station now nine she lives in the heart of the brothel her adopted mother saliha suffers from drug and alcohol problems foreign age of newly arrived sex workers here is just 14. the age of consent in Bangladesh children have been sold to the brothel for the equivalent of just 200 pounds a debt they're expected to repay when they start working and even though disha is only nine she's already vulnerable to grooming and abuse from the local pimps and customers foreign foreign together a few streets away live magla and Buna they've grown up here with their mother and grandmother two previous generations of sex workers with just one space to live and work they have no choice but to bring the girls up alongside the daily trade happy foreign foreign foreign was kidnapped on her way to school and sold by her abductor she agreed to take part in this film with the hope that her mother might recognize her and come for her now 30 she sees five or six clients every day selling herself for the equivalent of just two pounds a Time foreign foreign foreign paid off her debt and now works as an independent sex worker sending money to her children outside foreign is a hub for local trade trains constantly bring in workers and businessmen from towns and Villages throughout the region in a society with strict religious and cultural goals governing relations between men and women it's a place where normal rules don't apply Suman is a local landlord who's been here most of his life foreign foreign medium money at the edge of the village is a safe house where children can have time outside the brothel if only for a few hours it's here that they can gain the education and skills that could one day allow them to make a life outside it's where disha used to come again um Aki was born here too now she works on behalf of the girls as a counselor she wants to talk to disha's mother to find out why she is no longer coming to the safe house foreign foreign but it is foreign foreign unlike Generations before her Isha could one day find her way out of daulatia um
