Are we feeling good, everyone? Cameras set? Can't you see that Kendall's eating garlic knots? [funky, upbeat music playing] -Mark. -Hey, guys. It's Chloe. Hey, guys. It's Kendall. Hey, guys. It's me, Kalani. -[laughs] -Hey, everyone! I'm JoJo, and we are looking back at some of our fiercest rivals. [funky music continues] [dramatic music playing] Up, down, over. Yes. Maddie, isn't it nice to look in the mirror and see everybody's foot doing the same thing? [Holly] I could have predicted that Maddie was going on the new team. I think the writing's on the wall of who's gonna win, and I don't think it's our girls. Honestly, I love rivalries. They spice things up a little bit. I've been telling you for months now that I'm going to form a new team. The moment is here. [dramatic music playing] Girls, let's go! Come on in! [dramatic music intensifies] I honestly think I was most nervous when Abby would bring dancers on specifically to compete against us, hoping that they would you know, come out on top. I think Abby's reasoning for this was to just make us work harder. Maybe she needed to put a little match under our butts and get us... get that fire back again. There will be one new team member to go up against each of you, to challenge you. The Select Team was not a team of Abby ALDC dancers. They were pooled from all over the country. So, of course they were probably going to be put on a higher pedestal than us. [dramatic music playing] Up, down, over. Yes. Maddie, isn't it nice to look in the mirror and see everybody's foot doing the same thing? [Holly] I could have predicted that Maddie was going on the new team. I think the writing's on the wall of who's gonna win, and I don't think it's our girls. If you're a dancer or a dance teacher, you really know what's gonna win at a dance competition versus what's not, and Abby would play that to her advantage. I think having a rivalry is good and healthy, even on the same team, but you have to have an even playing field. And when you don't have an even playing field, there's really no rivalry. ♪ Ain't no angels ♪ ♪ To push me ♪ ♪ Trying to steal some love ♪ ♪ So we can sing ♪ ♪ I gave everything up for all we could be ♪ ♪ I'm all I need ♪ ♪ I need to know 'cause this is the last chance ♪ [emcee] And in first place, we have entry #252, "The Good Life." -[cheering] -[dramatic music playing] [bright, upbeat music playing] [gentle vocalization] ♪ So I'm gonna stand my ground ♪ ♪ Got something to believe in ♪ [emcee] And in first place, can I have a drumroll, please? [Abby] The time has finally come for nationals. Maddie, please move over here with your mom. [Holly] I was gonna ask, since Kalani's gone, would Maddie take back the space? Absolutely. -[gentle music playing] -[applause] All of the girls are super, super nice, and I guess they're friends to me, but I'd rather be with my team. -[dramatic music playing] -[cheering] Now it's the moment of truth. It's been 24 competitions. Hundreds of lessons. Who's it gonna be? The Select Team or the Junior Elite Competition Team? [music continues] [gentle vocalization] [music and vocalization continue] [dramatic music playing] [music continues] [whispers] -[music fades] -[cheering] Ladies and gentlemen, with a score of 286 points, your national champion, act #63, "Amber Alert," from the Abby Lee Dance Company. I think Abby brought in the Select Team to psych us out, but then her plan failed, because we ended up winning that day. So... congrats to us. Wow. [dramatic music playing] Tumultuous ending. The Select Team did its job. Yes, you pushed the Junior Elite Competition Team to the next level. And now, today, after that victory on stage, it's clear they pushed you right out the door. Goodbye. [dramatic music playing] And they were out. Gone with the wind. -[indistinct cheering] -Yes! [photographer] Good! [Abby] One and two, three and four and five, six, seven, eight. [Holly] So our kids can't do work because she's doing something else with other kids? -That's not right. -[woman] It's wrong. I think that having a rivalry can be a good thing, but I don't think it's okay to pin your own kids up against each other. [Abby] The group routine, the name of it is "Hungry Like the Wolves." Now, I don't see that hunger, that desire. I need everybody in this room to get a little hungrier for that win. I'm talking about you wanting to work on your feet. You wanting to work on your flexibility. I wanna see more improvement because Abby Lee's kids do it all and you need to do it all well. The world thinks that I struck gold with this group. I disagree. Listen up, 'cause your life is about to change. [dramatic music playing] I'm going to form a new team. [dramatic musical flourish] I've looked at minis all over the country. I liked my minis. I'm forming a new mini team. I want girls between the ages of six and eight. They're fresh, eager, and moldable. And besides, twice as many teams means twice as many wins here in L.A. Why bring in minis now? Are you saying these kids are washed up? I need to keep doing what I do. So that would be starting with minis and training them to be a Junior Elite Competition Team. We didn't wanna compete against each other. We just wanted to dance 'cause that's what we were here to do. [Abby] One and two, three and four and five, six, seven, eight. [Holly] So our kids can't do work because she's doing something else with other kids? -That's not right! -[woman] It's wrong. It is really unfortunate that we have to share our time with these minis and their moms. I think it's ridiculous. I definitely think that the rivalries on the show and in real life are more about the moms than the kids. -[Jill] Mind scooting down? -Yeah, I do mind. We're gonna stay right here, there's no reason to move. [woman] No, you're moving down there. -[Jill] Move down, please. -[woman] Thank you. [upbeat music playing] Alexis, Alysa, Ari, Ellie, Lilly, Peyton. Oh my God, they were so cute. [upbeat music continues] -[Jill] Here we are. -'Cause there's four now. [Jill] It's competition day and Abby isn't here. I am beyond frustrated with her. [woman] So where is Abby? Is she gonna come? Is she gonna show up? She's not coming. [dramatic musical flourish] I think we did what we did because she wasn't there. I feel like if she were there, she probably would've been like, "Girls, don't go over there." -Yeah. -Okay, little ones, come here. [Melissa] Everybody go to a big girl. -I just gave-- -You, you, and you. I'm very proud of the way we handled that situation. We could've been resentful of the minis too. We could've said, "You're on your own, kid," just like we were. Good luck. You're gonna do so good. [emcee] Please welcome to the stage entry #31A, "The Spotlight is On Me." -[cheering] -["Spotlight" playing] ["Spotlight" continues, then ends] [cheering] I think it's good to have a little healthy competition, as an adult, looking back on it. I'm always gonna have competition. There's always gonna be someone better out there, and they might just take your spot.
