The Build of VICTA Continues

hello from subsea craft we wanted to offer you a view from lockdown in order to reassure you that we're still here we've adapted to the different conditions and we're continuing to progress towards introducing victor the world's most advanced diver delivery unit now just to remind you victor combines the characteristics of a fast surface craft with those of a specialist submersible and enables the discrete delivery and recovery of divers prior to covert nineteen interfering development was well on track the whole was in fit out in our workshop within our haven't headquarters the co-chief was complete and awaiting fitting and work to meirin eyes the engine was advancing steadily in italy alongside that the development of all of the appropriate underpinning systems and processes was in hand but on lockdown physical boat building had to be suspended remote working was imposed and the development schedule was reviewed this introduced a delay in the development of the craft but we've worked under pressure before and this is no different in among the short furlough of a few of the team we even managed to further reinforce with a recruitment of a few new joiners but just to reprise the original idea was a catamaran and a prototype was delivered to sea trials in under two years a huge number of lessons were learned which informed the switch to a monohull in 2018 and victor was born what makes victor so special well it travels at high speed on the surface in the vicinity of 40 knots it transitions quickly to subsurface in around 2 minutes and both of those are enabled by a highly advanced fly-by-wire control system it's really flexible it can be deployed from an array of platforms with the recourse to costly strategic systems and it's designed around the operator Victor has an endurance of 250 nautical miles on the surface and 25 nautical miles submerged all of this with two crew and six operators embalmed so where are we now well development is restarted and all of our partner businesses are engaged the boat builders are back alongside and momentum in our haven't headquarters is building we're realigning activity to reflect the adjustment in the new schedule and we sharpened our appetite to get Victor out into the public eye but first we've got to bring her into the water and we intend to conduct extensive trials testing and training at our bespoke facility in Portland and Dorset this is staged work it's to ensure that the craft is safe and then it meets the required capability specification and this is designed for us to meet a proof-of-concept or initial operating capability and it will culminate in a capability demonstration early in 2021 in short we're moving ahead Victor the world's most advanced diver delivery unit continues to progress and we look forward to sharing more of our journey with you in the coming months get in touch if you want to know more visit the website find us on LinkedIn Twitter and Instagram
