the psalms psalm 1 blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of scoffers but his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night he is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season and it's leaf does not wither in all that he does he prospers the wicked are not so but are like chaff that the wind drives away therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous where the Lord knows the way of the righteous but the way of the wicked will perish Psalm 2 why do the nation's rage and the people's plot in vain the kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed saying let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us he who sits in the heavens laughs the Lord holds them in derision then he will speak to them in his wrath and terrify them in his fury saying as for me I have set my King on Zion my holy hill I will tell of the decree the Lord said to me you are my son today I have begotten you ask of me and I will make the nations your heritage and the ends of the earth your possession you shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a Potter's vessel now therefore o Kings be wise be warned o rulers of the earth serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling kiss the Sun must he be angry and you perish in the way for his wrath is quickly kindled blessed are all who take refuge in him Psalm 3 a still waters it restores my soul he leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me your rod in well-being and his offspring shall inherit the land the friendship of the Lord is for those who fear Him and he makes known to them his covenant my eyes are ever toward the Lord for he will pluck my feet out of the net turn to me and be gracious to me for I am lonely and afflicted the troubles of my heart are enlarged bring me out of my de-stresses consider my affliction and my trouble and forgive all my sins consider how many are my foes and with what violent hatred they hate me Oh guard my soul and deliver me that may not be put to shame for I take refuge in you may integrity and uprightness preserve me for I wait for you redeem Israel of God out of all his troubles Psalm twenty six of David vindicate me Oh Lord for I have walked in my integrity and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering prove me O Lord and try me test my heart and my mind for your steadfast love is before my eyes and I walk in your faithfulness I do not sit with men of falsehood nor do I consort with abundance of his steadfast love he caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive save us O Lord our God and gather us from among the nations that we may give thanks to your holy name and hungry dwell and they establish a city to live in they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield by His blessing they multiply greatly and he does not let their livestock diminish when they are diminished and brought low through oppression evil and sorrow He pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes but he raises up the needy out of affliction and makes their families like flocks the upright see it and are glad and all wickedness shuts its mouth whoever is wise let him attend to these things let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord Psalm 108
