and then the books that i got from my wishlist and as gifts for christmas or my birthday things like that because i haven't hauled books in so long i feel like remembering what was new and what was old was super hard i just grabbed things that looked really new so some of these you guys are going to be like um you definitely read that yes i have but it's new this video is sponsored by book of the video the first book that i have to haul is the chosen and the beautiful which was sent to me by tor publishing so thank you so much to them this is a great gatsby retelling and i don't know much else about that except that it's a great gatsby retelling and if you are you know seasoned to my channel you will know that i didn't enjoy the great gatsby at all but i do have a lot of hope for retellings even if the original content was something i didn't enjoy so i feel like i'm gonna like this we'll see we'll have to see the next book i have is another tour publishing book and that is the beautiful ones this one is purely because of my love for mexican gothic which i read last year for the krusty club which is my book club really really loved that book and i really wanted more from this author i wanted to read more of their stories and so i decided to get this arc i decided to request it and i'm really happy that jorah sent this to me because i cannot wait to read it i know that it involves socialites similarly to mexican gothic but this is a lot shorter it's like 290 pages which for some reason i thought it was going to be way longer but i am really excited to read it also again like the cover please so beautiful like some authors just have phenomenal artists and i feel like this author is one of them so we're just gonna hope this is a good book next we have the infinity quartz which was kindly sent to me by simon schuster this follows our main character whose life is pretty much perfect things are going well and then she is murdered and she gets sent to this place called infinity which is where human consciousness go when physical bodies die she quickly discovers that ophelia a virtual assistant widely used by humans on earth has taken over the afterlife and is now posing as the queen um this sounds super good i just like when i saw this book i was like i need to read it for some reason i forgot exactly what it was about until this very moment and now i'm even more excited to read it this is another one with really good cover art i'm just so shook the next two books i have are both from source books fire and they are the murder game and 14 ways to die this one is about a serial killer who is looking for his 14th victim and then this one is about a guy who gets caught in a murder and he gets caught up in that murder because his roommate convinces him to break the rules we'll see how these go for me because i've been having a hit or miss time with a lot of y a mystery slash thrillers and i think these are both y a so we'll have to see but yes the last book that i have is a book that was sent to me by simon schuster and that is in deeper waters and this is a pirates of the caribbean meets a gentleman's skype to vice and virtue and that's all i needed to know all i needed to know is it was pirates in the caribbean themed and it had pirates and things were going on on sea i do not like the ocean nor do i like boats but i definitely love pirate themed things so i'm really excited to read this book and i also really love how floppy this is also the cover please so gorgeous i just dropped a whole bunch of books on the floor but now that i've picked them up we can go into talking about the finished copies that publishers sent me the first one i have is a dark and hollow star i don't know that much about this book except it has been literally everywhere like i've heard oh my god i have heard so many great things about this so i'm really excited to read this i cannot wait so thank you so so so so so much to simon and schuster for sending this to me next we have two books from penguin and they are everybody looking and super fake love song i have read everybody looking very very recently absolutely loved it it was phenomenal if you're a fan of elizabeth acevedo you definitely need to read this book it was so good we follow our main character who is a nigerian girl who is going to college and we just learned about her life her experiences i really really related to this really loved it so good next we have like i said super fake love song which i have yet to read but i really loved david yoon's debut franklin love it was such a great book and i've heard really good things about this one so i just cannot wait to read it then we have two books sent to me by simon schuster which are chasing lucky and yolk i have read a few books from mary hk choice i'm really excited for this one and i have not read anything by this author but i coincidentally bought one of their other books the other day so i am also really excited to read it and both of these books have really stunning covers i really love the one for yolk especially because when you turn to the side so cute the last book that i have to haul is as the shadow rises which was sent to me by henry holt and this is the sequel to there will come a darkness which was one of my favorite fantasy books of last year i really really loved that book it follows kind of like five i think five different people who all have some sort of part to play in a prophecy and i really loved that because i typically don't love stories like that i have a group of people that type of vibe but i loved it so so so so much i was really happy that they sent me the second book especially like as a hardcover those are so expensive i'm really excited to read it i haven't read it yet but i will soon and i hope it will be just as good of a time as the first book now we're going to talk about all the books that were gifts either for my birthday for christmas or just things that people were kind enough to give me from my wish list the first book that i'm going to talk about is heavy vinyl volume 1 which was a book gifted to me by my wonderful friend izza and they gave this to me for my birthday and i'm really excited because i have read parts of this first volume and i never finished it because my hold ran out so the fact that izza gave this to me just warms my heart next i have from the desk of zoe washington which was gifted to me by carly so thank you so much carly for giving this to me the next book that i have was actually a christmas gift from my friend alana and that is this is what it feels like and i know that this is a rom kami type y a story and i'm really excited to read this i love the cover so much i think it's going to be a great reads like why contemporaries are hardly ever a miss for me so i just feel like i'm going to really love it but we will have to see next is another gift from alana and that is happily ever afters i got this one for my birthday this year and i okay i'm gonna be really honest half of the reason why i love this book is because of the cover i haven't yet read it but i know like i said why contemporaries is going to be a good time i think this is like a more of a wholesome type of stories right i think e-i-e-i-o it looks like just a wholesome cute romancy why a contemporary so i'm really excited to read this but we love birthday presents love to see it next is home before dark which is a book that i got from lala while i was co-hosting for her book club in august last year i believe um it's been a while and this one i liked it was okay i think it's like on the lower end of my riley sacred books i just thought this one was okay but i really really enjoyed the reading experience with lala and starla i thought it was hilarious seeing what we all thought about it but yeah next is mexican gothic which was sent to me by my friend rc and i read this last year in october and i read it for my book club really really loved it it shows that i really really loved it and i'm glad to own a copy it was just such a good book if you haven't read it highly recommend then we have strange dreamer which doesn't have a note or anything so i'm not sure who sent me this but whoever sent me this thank you so much i have not read stranger dreamer i've heard very like different in opinions like some people love it some people hate it so i'm not sure what i'll think about it but i've just heard reviews all across the board but i feel like i might like it because sometimes when people are like oh this book is really boring like for example the invisible life for addie larue i was like this book is really boring but i love it so we'll see how it goes with this about it the first place that i ever saw this book was on chloe's channel because i think she was reading it along with some other books and i was like oh interesting so i don't know i think that's this book is definitely more of a literary or general fiction and it is romance because we're like following these two characters who are both dealing with some pretty intense things on their own and it's their romance stories it's just so good and this was gifted to me by my friend aaron so thank you so much aaron for giving me this because she was like you're gonna love this book and i was like okay okay and i did okay i did this book was so good but again thank you aaron for sending me this book the next book is another christmas present and this was sent to me by my friend katie and that is bone crier's mood don't know much about this except i think something about the girl being able to raise bones i'm not sure maybe i'm making that up in my mind if you've read this one let me know what your thoughts are i should be reading this like as soon as i come out of my fantasy slump so we'll hope that soon so i can get to it i just caught the book that was about to fall we saved another one but yeah thanks katie for sending me this book we only have four more books in this entire whole experience i'm so excited because i'm like you know when you haul something you just feel like fresh and you're so ready and you're like yeah you've told people about the books and you're like i want people to read these books especially if it's books that you've already read that you hauled and you're like anyways that's how i feel right now especially going into the next book which is you should see me in a crowd and this was sent to me by carrie so thank you so much for sending this to me you should see me on crown is one of those like really good y a coming of age high school prom stories i really love this so much if you haven't read it you really need to like it's so good the prom vibes the high school friendships the tension the romance so good love the friendship tension in this because it's kind of like you're wanting this character to fix her friendships and at the same time wanting her to you know have the awesome experience that she has with the person that she's pressing on and you're just like ah high school moments we love to see it yeah if you haven't read this you really need to it's phenomenal the next book is a book that i either won in a giveaway or was just sent to me but i remember when i first got this book i was like okay we'll see what all the hullabaloo is about we'll see if it's good but um a song of rates and ruin chef's kiss no question about it um chefs kids i can't remember the person who sent this to me but the person who sent this to me does not know the power that they hold this book is so crushingly good like i don't even know where to start this is one of those books that like you think about it and then you're just like you're you you you just like have no words but at the same time all the words are there like this book is just so good we follow our two main characters karina and malik karina is a princess whose mother has just been assassinated and malik is a refugee whose sister has just been kidnapped and they both have reasons for wanting to kill each other but they also have to be around each other and it's just great like i would say this is probably maybe like one of the closest true enemies to lovers trope type of situations that i've ever seen i don't even know if i would say lovers i just feel like this is something where the stakes were so impossibly high especially for a why a story like i just loved it so much if you haven't read it you need to read it like do you see these tabs you need to read this like the west african vibes in this were chef's kiss the fact that it's getting an adaptation honestly well deserved if you haven't read it what are you waiting for pick it up go read it go check it out at your library check it out at the bookstore go check it out wherever you need to because this needs to be in your reading list asap okay the last two books are part of a series where i refuse to read the second book until time comes closer for the last book because i already know that when i read the second book i'm going to be ripped to shreds and i want the third book immediately and the book series that i'm talking about is gideon the ninth and harold the ninth okay i cannot like i refuse to read harrow because i don't want to not have the third book in my hands as soon as i finish so i'm literally waiting and when i say the beginning of the night was honestly like it's gonna be on my list for my favorite books of the year like i already know it because it was so good i read this book in like less than a day i was like what is going on here what is this world what my mind is literally tossed out into the wind this book follows our main characters gideon and harold who hate each other's guts so much this is probably another one that i'm like okay enemy celebrities we love to see they both hate each other so much but they have to work together to do i can't even explain it they have to work together this is a science fiction so like i can only go so far but they have to work together in order to get something i forgot what it is like i don't know how to explain it but you just need to read it like i would suggest you read it like highly heavily at this point it's not even a suggestion it's like i'm forcing you if you haven't read this book yet you need to because the people who stand this book the people who actively talk about this book are talking about it for a reason and their reason is completely correct it is so good like i know so many like people who love this book like aaron from book to busy loves this book like leah from a page out of my book loves this book izza the friend that i mentioned earlier they really love this book too their blogging ravens and pages like so many people i know love this book so much and you need to be one of them you need to be one of the people reading this book because it's phenomenal
