The Big Lebowski (1998) First Time Watching! Movie Reaction!!

[Music] hey everyone welcome back to the channel my name is tbr schmidt this is my wife samantha hello and today we are watching the big lebowski what do you know about this uh i don't know a lot um i actually don't even know who's in this i know it's at least jeff bridges and john goodman okay so revisiting john goodman after arachnophobia right and i think there's definitely a few more people in it okay but i really don't know much about this either other than it won our comedy movie poll yes so we would like to thank all our patrons for voting for this to win our comedy movie poll and we were told that the drink of choice in the movie at least for one character is a white russian yes so we don't ever drink or eat or anything during our reactions but i did my best to make a white russian for us and um never had one no so we have a a couple of white russians here made them a little while ago yeah so i'm gonna just stir it up a little bit just sounds like a very interesting combination to make a drink uh this is the first kind of creamy drink i think i've ever had besides just baileys so yeah cheers cheers they're pretty good they're just kind of strong definitely a little strong but that's okay yeah so we're over 21 so we're legally allowed to drink it yeah it's going to be interesting to see how a white russian comes into play yeah we have them in front of us end i didn't like seeing donnie go no there's a little lebowski on the way mods pregnant all right that was the big lebowski what'd you think i mean that was crazy that was one of the craziest stories i've ever seen that was so all over the place there was so much going on and so many different people involved in this not even real kidnapping the fact that pretty much all of this was just because the dude wanted a rug i mean yeah but because they have the wrong person and then that guy peed on his rug and then she started the whole just got crazier and crazier and more complex an insane gathering of just crazy characters yeah i mean everybody in this film was crazy yeah everyone had like their own individual stories of what was going on but also the whole thing was kind of just a lie from the start since bunny was never even missing bunny just went to palm springs yeah with her friends the the real or not the real lebowski but the other lebowski wasn't even rich he didn't have any control of the money and it was just a plan for him to get his own million dollars yeah and then mod just wanted to find out where that money went because she knew that he took it out right she was more control of the money so she just wanted it back yeah also wanted wanted a kid so yeah and apparently there is a little lebowski on the way yeah which that's funny she conceived with someone who has the same last name as her already yeah yeah so that was a crazy character and then you had the porn guy so bunny did owe money yeah no i think bunny actually did oh a bunch of money out there yeah so that was a story line that wasn't necessarily resolved no but i guess has nothing to do i mean almost nothing has to do with the dude but that's still a situation between bunny and the porn guys yeah i mean i feel like honestly almost nothing was resolved besides the fact that bunny came home yeah and i guess they they beat up the germans outside the parking lot so they found out that the germans didn't actually kidnap them or and the credits are called the nihilist not the germans so and then i mean that whole thing caused donnie to have a heart attack that whole fight yeah that was the saddest part yeah the the movie was very funny but it was also very engaging with the story because it was just there's a lot it was a lot like you can't just sit here and laugh like you got to kind of pay attention yeah but for the most part it was very interesting story and very funny and crazy characters but the last like 10 minutes of this movie were just sad even sam elliott at the end is like oh well we like the story but we didn't want to see donnie go either it's like why yeah and that yeah that was just so sad when they spread the ashes you had the little comedic element of the ashes going all over the dude but just that like quick little convo between the two of just like the dude just kind of hitting walter a little bit and walter just like just saying i'm sorry just saying i'm sorry that was just like such a touching moment between the two and they really just have each other walter is divorced and clearly living in the past and taking care of his ex-wife's dog the dude has nothing going on really like they just have each other and they just have bowling and no matter how crazy things got that was their comfort zone was with each other and bowling and that's how the movie ended yeah and their friendship was great i mean walter was driving me absolutely nuts for the entirety of the film besides like the last like 10 minutes i just just like oh like get out of here like he was driving me nuts but the dude was like the perfect friend for him because he's so chill and they they balanced each other well yeah they were perfect for each other because walter was insane he was so annoying he was the worst that was one of my favorite parts of the whole movie it was just donny does donnie would just be there and just like try to ask a question and they would just be like donnie shut the [ __ ] up don't speak donnie and he would just kind of sit there and hang out and donny deserve better donnie deserve the world donny deserved the million dollars and he was the one to go yeah i know the movie was just so fast-paced so much going on yeah incredibly hilarious i mean even characters that had nothing to do with the story jesus the other bowler like you spent like a minute and a half just watching how weird he was and going into a backstory of him being a pedophile like he had nothing to do with the movie no at all no but the movie took time to be like here's another crazy character here's another crazy gear yeah there was a lot a lot of people in this film oh yeah i mean a ton of huge names but also just like a ton of characters yeah my god it was just jam-packed yeah i was not anticipating there being such a crazy story like i thought it would just be uh in your face comedy and there was just so much going on yeah no i definitely thought it would just be like a much more straightforward comedy but this was on another level in terms of how complex it was yet still you were able to follow along yeah and have fun with it and it didn't matter that there was a bunch of things that kind of went unanswered at the end yeah it still was tied up enough i guess it really comes down to the only thing that really matters to the dude is spending time with his friends and bowling yeah and that's how the movie ended and you can assume he's not going to have any responsibility raising the little lebowski because that's what mod wants yeah mods very wealthy so that baby will be taken care of yeah the other lebowski got his bunny back and he got his million dollars i mean he didn't want bonnie back but i don't think he could walk i think i said no that was that was so uncomfortable i think walter misjudged that a little bit um walter misjudged a lot though yeah the poor uh german girlfriend who cut off her toe because she thought it would be worth a million dollars so oopsie no and just all three of them just got their butts kicked yeah yeah walter took them all out and then the the porn guys they still got their money in their big mansion and whatever they'll they have to uh evolve with the current times with their shitty stories or whatever no one cares about the story so i guess you know everyone had their ending kind of without really having everything perfectly tied up in the end yeah or even related or even some things were very random i guess in the story um i mean when the film ended too i was like oh they're like we're not gonna get to see the tournament on saturday that yeah wednesday that was the biggest thing are they gonna win the tournament yeah i need a big lebowski too just to see if they're gonna beat jesus or not and i don't know how that's gonna work they're down donny like are they gonna need another teammate or something or i wanna say it look like they were playing in pairs i think donnie was just there just there to hang out yeah poor tahani i know i can see why this is such a recognized comedy in a movie because it is so off the wall that there's so many moments that stick with you i mean we can sit here and talk for like hours of all of the little moments that we remember but it makes sense why this movie has such staying power and why people are endlessly quoting it or referencing it because i've never seen anything like this no yeah this was so different yeah not only is it a comedy but this is so complex with so many different story lines like you said some things don't even really matter to each other yeah um so i've never really seen that i've seen much more straightforward comedies or if you typically have a movie this complex it's like a drama or a thriller or a mystery yeah this was just like what and i feel like this is probably a very re-watchable film because i think there's probably a ton that we missed a ton of like little jokes or little things here yeah so i mean i would love to watch this again and and kind of just pick up on more and understand the relationships more rather than just being like wait who's who and what's happening yeah um so i enjoyed this very much oh yeah absolutely and it brought in a white russian into our life yep yeah that was not as weird as i thought it would be no and i i could see how the dude makes it and it was definitely a little different than how we made it yeah he was a little bit heavier with the vodka and then more splash of clue a splash of of half and half yeah but i still enjoyed my white russian why i watched the dude abide yeah and it was great yeah now absolutely want to revisit this absolutely we'll have another white russian yeah absolutely and i'm going to be
