can you cook the best steak of your life in the air fryer that is the question and today I have seven secrets that are going to help you get pretty darn close to having one of the best Stakes of your life okay maybe it's not going to be like the number one but it's going to come in to a close a second place and if you don't believe me I can't even tell you how many people that I've heard from or spoken with that have made my steak recipe in the air fryer and are blown away at how good it is I cannot believe this came from an air fryer my name is Kathy and I Empower air fryer owners to use their air fryer for so much more than just chicken nuggets and french fries because the air fryer is a nice small chamber with hot air circulating it provides a nice control temperature so your steak Cooks nice and evenly and if you follow my tips you're going to end up with a nice juicy steak with a light chart plus cleanup is a breeze and it's a pretty nice option to have this air fryer if you don't want to go out and Grill when it's snowing or over 100° outside you ready see it let's go okay my first secret is you've got to start out with the right stick go to your butcher find a beautiful dark red meat find some light marbling and you could even ask your butcher for some help if you're unsure for air fryer I typically like to do a ribeye steak or a New York strip steak today I got New York strip steaks that are almost a pound each and about 1 and 1/2 in thick secret number two is going to help your steak cook nice and evenly it's called tempering your steak and that just means your going to pull it out of the packaging and place it on your counter just like on a nice clean surface I'm using parchment paper and you're just going to let that rest at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes now there's a whole science to this and I'm not really going to go into major depth here but basically just means that you want the inside of the steak temperature to kind of rise up to match the exterior of the steak it's just going to end up with a nicer result when you cook it whether it's grill or air fryer or whatever make sure you temper your steak after it's tempered we're going to move to secret number three which is to season your steak but I've got two little things you're want to do to prep for that seasoning because we don't want to steam our steaks we want to Pat the steak dry that's just going to help remove any excess moisture and then once we've got them nice and dry then you're going to want to massage a little oil in the steak couple things about oil you want to use an oil that has a high smoke point I like to use avocado oil and I always use it in my air fryer for everything that I cook by the way I have links to all of the tools I talk about in this video in the description box below but this oil sprayer you're just going to miss a little oil and it's not much we're talking like teaspoons of oil and the oil serves two purposes when I'm air frying steak number one because oil is a heat conductor it's going to help with a charring on the steak it's going to help our seasoning stay on the steak which means it's time to talk about seasonings I personally just like to use salt and add my seasoning at the end like after it's cooked so I'm just using about a teaspoon of kosher salt per pound of meat you can just rub it in your steak and don't forget to get the other side and then if there's excess salt dip the sides of the steak right inside of it we want to Salt everything and of course you could throw a little pepper on your steak as well which leads me to the question how do you like to season your steak do you have a rub that you like to put on your steak before you cook or do you have a delicious sauce recipe or something like the butter combo that I'm about to show you let me know in the comments below how you season your steak okay secret number four we are going to preheat the air fryer now hold tight I know if you watch my channel you know that I most often never preheat my air fryer and I just haven't found a need for it but when it comes to steak oh yeah I'm going to preheat my air fryer now this particular model goes all the way up to 450° so I do want to just crank it up the preheat only goes for 4 minutes but I want it to just preheat even longer just to really Ure I've got it nice and hot inside this chamber so I'm going to go 450 at 6 minutes and while that's preheating I'm going to make my herb butter you just need 2 tablespoons of room temperature butter pop it in a small little dish and just a/ tbspoon of some fresh chopped parsley I'm just lazy and use my herb cutting scissors there's my abundant half tablespoon there then you need just a/4 teaspoon of Wooster sauce and by the way in my original steak video so many of my friends on the other side of the pond corrected me and told me not to call it War Chester cuz that's how I always called it cuz I couldn't say it nicely anyway just a/4 teaspoon of ooster sauce is what I'm doing here and then throw in a/ teaspoon of minced garlic and about A3 teaspoon of salt and then just mix it up till it's all combined and Incorporated okay now that it's nice and hot going quickly open that up and just listen to that Sizzle see yeah there's still a little Sizzle going on there going to throw the steaks down back in the air fryer now I'm going to bring that to 400° and I want to just start it at 6 minutes cuz I'm going to rotate it in just a minute now there's not an exact number that tells you exactly how long to air fry your steak but I do have a tool that's going to help you get it done perfectly this is my instant read meat thermometer and it's amazing no matter what air fryer you have even if it's a grill or your oven or Stove Top This is going to help you cook your food perfectly all you need to know is the internal temperature and I have a free download that you can snag at internal temperature chart.com it's going to tell you all of the recommended temperatures for meats and baked goods and my instant read meat thermometer can be found at Pine and pepper. that is my new online shop where I'm creating tools that help air fryer owners these are tools that I wish I had when I started started using an air fryer you'll also find my cookbook there my parchment paper liners and my magnetic cheat sheet and now that the 6 minutes is up it's time to tell you secret number five we just want to be quick with the steak here you can see it's cooking for sure right but it's not all the way done I'm going to flip it and rotate it here in the air fryer basket now I'm going to just do a quick internal temp read with my meat thermometer and I can see we are hitting about 95° f height so obviously I know it's not done I'm going to crank that back up to 400° and then from here you're going to go anywhere from 4 to maybe even 10 more minutes right now I'm going to run it for 6 minutes and now I'm going to tell you about secret number six have you ever heard of carryover cooking what that means is that when you pull your food off the heat Source it continues to cook with all the juices and everything inside so what you want to do to get nice and juicy steak is to cook it for about 3 to 5° F less than your target temperature so for me I like my steaks done at medium so that's going to be anywhere between 140 and 145 for my final Target Temp that means I'm going to pull it out of the air fryer when it's about 138 142° F and this right here this is the Magic in cooking perfect steak perfect chicken even perfect bread in your air fryer and now I just can't wait oh oh look at how beautiful that is here at that Sizzle beautiful chard steak let's just take that internal temperature what it say 128 so I'll just give it probably just a couple more minutes I'm going to crank it now to 450 most air fryers don't bring you up to 450 mine does so I'm just going to get my final piece of char there for about 2 minutes and then I got to tell you about secret number seven and now it's beautiful it's done I'm coming in right where I wanted it to be and now secret number number seven we're going to let it sit here in the air fryer basket and rest the juices are going to redistribute it's going to finish up cooking and be ultra juicy I can just set it right here in the basket I'm not going to put it inside the air fryer and while it's resting I'm just going to put that butter right on top of my steak and it's just going to melt and get Oozy goozy yummy all over and check it out juicy beautiful steak like it and enjoy wow that is so good now if you're new to the air fryer make sure you don't make any of these air fryer mistakes and if you need inspiration I got them right here for you thanks for watching I'll see you on the next one
