[Music] all right guys today I'm going to show you how I made that slide transition in the video I made for Al Horford as you can see I used it a lot in that video let's get into the edit and I'll show you how to do it all right so I have these split up here's these two clips the block and then this pass through the corner so what I'm going to do is I'm going to grab these two clips hold option slide up to duplicate them and I'm going to select them and right click replace with After Effects composition so that's going to bring them into After Effects automatically for me which is super convenient and then as you can see if I come back to Premiere this is those two clips combined but so we're going to come back here in After Effects and the first step to this transition is to put on something called motion tile so I'm going to come here type it in put on the first clip and so what you want to change is you want to put mirror edges on and then you want to put output width to 500 and output height to 500 so I'll bring it to the side so you guys can see um all it's going to do is duplicate the edges like you can see it's basically creating an infinite border so that when I do this side to side there's not going to be black bars from the side of the image and there's going to be a lot more real estate to work with so what I'm going to do is I'm going to take this effect copy it and paste it onto my next clip and then what I'm going to do from here is I'm going to hit P to bring up the keyframes position and then hold shift and hit R and S so that this the keyframes for scale and rotation comp as well and then at this point it's really just a matter of messing with the keyframe so I'm going to come here I know I want the transition to start around right here so what I'm going to do is I'm going to hold option and set a keyframe for position scale and rotation um and then what I'm going to do is I'm going to come here and bring the position to the side and I might add a little bit of a rotation and then bring it down um and then the key here is you want to easy ease it so this is basically going to make it so that the transition is not super linear it would be very choppy if I didn't do this it's going to really smooth out the smooth out the animation here so right now this doesn't look great um but we're going to keep working on it so I actually want to grab these and slide them after the clip ends this is going to allow it to have a more natural seamless motion from clip to clip because I'm going to then come into this clip and start the motion in the same way in that left to right movement so I'm going to hit P again hold shift hit R and S to bring up those keyframes again and then I'm going to create a keyframe for all those and then I'm going to do the same thing just in the opposite direction so if we think about it this clip is moving from left to right right so it's starting here moving to the right and then I'm going to come here and I want it to be moving from left to right also so I'm going to grab the position bring it all the way over here and you can see that's a little better still not great we're gonna work on it so we're also going to easy ease this let's see how this is looking it's a little better I think I'm going to add a little rotation here and then I want this to start with a little bit of a rotation and let's see how that looks okay not bad and then you know it's really about messing with the keyframes so at this point I think let's put on some motion Blair and see how this is really going to look in the edit so this motion blur is the key part this really makes or breaks the transition because this is going to really sell that seamless transition from clip to clip it's going to really hide any Cuts or imperfections and the motion blur is key that's why I do this in After Effects and not Premiere Pro Premiere Pro does not have its own motion blur plug-in so it's necessary to do this in After Effects now let's see how this looks okay that doesn't look great I think oh okay so the reason that didn't look great is you can see it kind of stops right here that's why I grabbed these keyframes and put them before the clip so that it's not starting when the clip starts so let's see how this looks now it's a little better I don't like the green thing here showing up um I think that kind of creates it causes it to be more jarring so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to grab those keyframes more and just hide that so you can see that's already a lot better um you know this definitely isn't perfect for the full video I made I definitely spent a lot more time because um you know this was a big project it was the full season tape for Horford I think for the sake of this tutorial that showed the basic idea I can do it with one more segment of Clips just to show you guys again so I'm going to grab these two clips hold option duplicate them and then I'm going to replace with After Effects composition and so here's two new clips okay and just the refresher we're going to grab motion tile throw that on this first clip then mirror edges output height 500 output width 500 and then we'll take this effect and copy and paste it I actually made a preset for this um just so that I don't have to do this every time but obviously for the sake of this tutorial I'm going to show you guys how to do it and then let's see so I'm going to want this to go from here and then movement going to the right so I wanted to swipe right and then come up on him from the left so what I'm going to do is hit p hold shift hit s r and then I'll create a keyframe for all those and I'm going to come here and I'll drag this position to the left and I might scale it in a little bit and maybe rotate it a little bit and again we are going to select all of these and easy ease it okay and then I'm gonna drag these beyond the clip just so that it's more seamless and then coming here I want it to come to normal right around here so I'm going to hit p s r create a keyframe and then come here and then grab the position scale it up a little bit and then I might rotate it let's come here you know just mess around the keyframes to your liking I'm going to easy ease that again let's see how this looks that actually doesn't look great let me see just looks a little jarring I think the rotation is not helping it you know what it's not terrible um what I did in the actual video was keyframe and adjustment layer with exposure so that it gets darker just to match these two parts better because the black to white is a little jarring but I'm not going to really do that right now so if we throw on this motion blur see how this looks okay let's see how this looks okay not bad I mean you get the basic idea all right yeah so that's basically it um I hope those instructions made sense I know it's annoying to have to go into after effects for this but it's honestly pretty easy um and with the dynamic link that makes it a lot easier I think this transition is very versatile and can definitely be used for most videos you do if you have any questions leave them in the comments and thank you guys for watching I was a professional does it on both hands probably one of the best leaders in the NBA yeah [Music] what a beautiful rejection oh he said it with his chest and they take the lead corporate and then the flush with the defensive gem indeed blocked by Harford oh this place erupting right now all right
