The BEST Studio Monitors I've EVER Tested!!

these are the first pair of studio monitors I ever owned to be honest they're more like multimedia speakers but at the time any speakers made the cut fortunately three years later I got my hands on these the Yamaha hs-8s a much bigger cone brutally on a sound and a Sleek looking design really had me convinced they are the only pair I'll ever need until about a week ago when a new pair of monitors showed up at my door now I've had these atom audio monitors for about a week already I've spent the past two days breaking them in and since I've set them up the hs8s have remained in the closet I have a huge soft spot for my Yamaha so I'm not counting them out just yet I will be comparing the sound between the two but first let's dive into what these new atom audio a8h studio monitors are all about [Music] starting off with what you get in the Box the a8hs come with a basic power cable and some documentation including a QR code to help you register the monitors and activate your five-year warranty and finally wrapped in soft white cloth we have the monitors themselves in terms of look and design I think Adam audio absolutely nailed it the minimal look and the black rugged touch definitely gives off a robust Vibe and the horizontal positioning definitely works for me if the horizontal out doesn't work for you the waveguide these monitors have can be rotated so you can have them sitting vertically as well having a look at some of the features on the front panel the a8hs offer an X or Tweeter a mid-range driver and an 8-inch woofer my Yamahas don't have a mid-range driver and as Colt Cameroon would say the soul is in the mid-range so in comparison these will definitely allow you to hear a lot more detail in that area otherwise the handmade XR Tweeter has already been approved by so many producers out there it's the exact same Tweeter found in the very popular a7xes so definitely no complaints there and then regarding the 8-inch cone it's made of six layers of mineral stone fiber according to Adam this should help disperse sound more evenly it's definitely a more premium feel than the white plastic cones on my Yamahas but we'll have to see if that really makes a noticeable difference I also noticed that these atom audios have their base port on the front this is definitely going to help you experience more low end especially combined with the 8 inch woofer moving on to the back panel of the studio monitors this is where I found a big difference in technology between the atom audios and the 15 year old Yamahas starting off with room adaptation most studio monitors have very basic room control features but these offer quite a few options to fit your studio space a lot better you can adjust the amount of bass mid-range and triple frequencies and if you are unsure about which settings work best for you the a series offers three different voicing options so you definitely get a few more options compared to my hs8 I've also been informed that the a8h has also work with sonar works the remote control ethernet input allows you to control the DSP and helps you set up your monitors with sonal Works via the a software I've never used sonar Works before but I've heard how effective this software is to help you get a flatter more honest sound otherwise the back panel offers an XLR and RCA input no TRS input you have your volume knob and your power output here are a few more specs on these studio monitors just pause the video if you want to take a deeper look now I am considering switching my Yamaha hs8s for these brand new atom audio studio monitors and regarding the price gap between the two it might be clear to you that the atoms have to be better but the truth is I know what sound I'm looking for when I'm mixing with hs8 but it doesn't mean I won't get an even better result mixing with these let's do a quick sound test comparison between these two before I make my final pick come on all my friends [Music] your hands around my eyes [Music] but nobody said it be it maybe I should one more drink just swallow it down I gotta get you out of my mind but nobody said it went Maybe okay I think I've made my choice I love the sound of both of these I know the video doesn't translate the difference in sound very well but for me the atoms sound a lot Fuller and the balance of frequencies just come across a lot more realistically the mid-range drive it definitely makes a huge difference the XR Tweeter sounds a lot clearer and putting all of this together with the room adaptation being able to set these up with sonar works the overall look and design it might have been obvious from the start but yeah it's time to switch
