The Best Overlanding Vehicle on Earth? We Take Our Argo Centaur Camping

guys you ready for this look at how weird this is it's like uh rain slash sleet slash hail so good thing we're in the shop today so we are taking out the jump seats in the back of the Centaur and we are making a platform for what a queen-size mattress because you know what's happening tomorrow we are doing an overnight camping trip in the Centaur and it's gonna be freaking sweet this is also so pumped so yeah so we're just getting that done um I bought some two by fours we got to make some Center supports um and then basically we're just laying a half inch uh sheet of plywood across to fill in the middle and then the mattress will go here I'll show you a little closer the mattress will go a little bit onto the edges that's why we had to take the jump seats out so the mattress will end up being a little bit on up on those yeah from side to side so we have over seven feet that way and we have over seven feet from side to side there is so much room in there yes and also yeah so the mattress come here so this is the heater yeah yeah but we'll be above that right so so maybe what if we got like a little tube that comes out here and then it won't it won't matter because it'll be coming under the mattress but it'll be fine it'll be totally fine it'll be maybe minus five or minus seven like it's not gonna be minus 30. there's no such thing as carbon monoxide there is and we have a detector so we'll be fine but everything it gets air from the outside and it vents to the outside so it's super safe so here's the here's the exhaust for the wabasto and then it gets air from from outside the compartment this is the engine compartment but that's different from the inside compartment but we're going to run a carbon monoxide detector anyways just to be safe but we'll be totally safe so we're taking out the drum seat and Mrs also lost one of these bolts so we're just looking for that right now but I just had to start the video with that look it's already already changed up you don't like the weather in Saskatchewan you just wait 30 seconds so it was super warm and sunny today we're hoping that it comes back to that this afternoon because we got some stuff to do this afternoon but right now we're going to get this this mattress frame mattress what's it called we're gonna get this mattress support all done up all right okay so um so the front is a little tight so we're gonna just take a blade width off for the front Spar but this works for the middle and the rear fits perfect so and then our goal is to have this storage for these under there so it'll sit on this just yeah we're gonna put two by fours running this way so those will slide right in so they're not going to get hooked on those and that will just help Shore everything up too all right two more to go this is our comfy hose okay ready yeah I was like man it's kind of dark in here oh yeah I forgot okay guys so check that out talk about professional so we got our little skids in the bottom so the we can push our containers through without hooking plus they kind of solid everything up so we're gonna screw ourselves give it technical term but yeah so once you get this thing check this out okay you ready look at this would you just so the mattress goes here oh my God it's freaking actually perfect we put little little spars there you know what's missing the lights huh like so twerk mirror is awesome it's hard it's super hard to do it fast anyways okay so all I gotta do is screw all these I gotta mark my little screw all these in and then we're gonna lay the mattress in can you do this so funny I'll be like this actually it'll be way quicker you ready one two three wow all the screws are in and it's the next day okay so we got a cheap moving blanket just so that the mattress doesn't get snagged because hopefully we'll have that mattress for a while so throw this on can you tell everybody the story of what you you started this whole project by buying a bunch of Amazon stuff including so we got a lot of like I don't know how much we're gonna be able to use on this trip but we have all this like survival gear so that we're gonna try and test out see if it's just a load a bowl or some of it's actually useful really cool like Camp grill for the fire different kinds of Fire Starting methods all sorts of cool stuff so we have a whole tote full of like funny Amazon stuff so we're gonna trust hopefully we can test lots of it out um tonight and tomorrow but we'll try our best so we're gonna get the mattress in here we gotta get our totes in we got to get the sucker loaded up and we gotta get on the road okay guys we're all loaded up so we got the Centaur up front this is us to clean the heck out of it I don't think it's ever been cleaner than when we first picked it up and then we got the Aurora 8x8 so we're gonna bring this sucker along um just uh kind of like a Runabout that'll be kind of home base once we get it all set up then if we want to do any like little touring around I guess we'll uh go cruise around in the 850 8x8 we got brand new Argo tracks on us we're really excited to test those suckers out they look pretty dang good they definitely give us a nice wide footprint so um I think everything's gonna be frozen solid still there's still some snow around so I think the lakes are still going to be frozen but uh we're all gonna find out together what the heck's going on oh yeah look at this Dimitri got us these really cool like full-on metal license plates when we're in Russia so we put one of those on too boom March for Life okay we're gonna get on the frickel road uh we're gonna cruise to our destination [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] okay guys this is why we turned around and went on load aware was dry because the road just not really a great Road for a truck and trailer so perfect road for the Centaur and the eight by eight so we're gonna keep on trucking [Music] thank you guys you know what's super crazy it is Sunday April 16th look how much snow is still in the bush like it's hard for the sun to get out the snow so it just hangs up forever oh crazy I was just saying crazy how much snow still in the bush hey look at that could be wolf easy yeah is that wolf smell him smell the wolf he's like yeah that is uh my ancient uh brother yes it is all right I think we're almost there so um we'll probably uh stop once we get right to the just before we get on the lake we'll stop and make sure everything's okay everything's good in there yeah all right is he staying there excited okay even more now yeah all right is a good time of year to come and do this when you want to be by yourself because sledding is over trails are closed so you'd have to be crazy to you'd have to be driving through half mud with your sled and it's still way too sketchy for quads and side by sides like the lake is starting to get Ultra sketch there could be three feet of slush so what our plan is I don't know if you can see we're planning on trying to make it all the way to the north end as far uh North as we can get so that should be super cool what's super cool is the Centaur is able to carry every single thing we need we just brought the 8x8 just for fun but really the Centaur that's the star of the show we have everything in there so yeah there's gonna be tons of water on the ice already tons of slush so I think that's what we'll do we'll just keep on heading real North and all we're looking for is a real cool place to set up camp like uh who knows maybe there's a stream or who knows something it's one of those things you'll know it when you see it so we'll just keep cruising there's also doing some donuts okay so I'll tell her what the plan is and uh we'll do that we'll head all the way to the North End if we don't find anything cool we'll come along the west side till we find something cool way as we head north and then that way we have that all kind of scouted then when we hit North if we don't find anything cool then we'll start coming back down the West but that'll be the plan so it's probably only about I don't know eight or ten clicks to the very North End there so maybe I'll measure in Google and I'll put it in right here how far how long this lake is it's a fairly narrow Long Lake so it's super cool okay holy smokes the ice is still super solid you can see there's still snow left to melt so what happens in the spring is once all the snow melts the ice starts turning a really dark color and then that's when the sun really really beats on it hear the paddles of the centaur [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] we're gonna go explore this little area here it looks like on on uh the satellite image that there's a giant beaver dam across so but it opens up uh kind of along to the left so we're gonna go check it out this sauce is almost here oh wait you guys look at this what's up so there's still ice on the bottom there's just a bit of water on top which is super weird this sauce is Gonna Come Over it's good she doesn't know that it's only a certain depth it's not deep at all it's always unnerving but easy peasy we're gonna try to follow this along uh to the left if we can oh let's get into the edge of breaking through oh she should have just followed me she gonna have to use some driver mod and some third gear auction to chew through that ice there's no creeping when it's ice you have to break it should figure out if not we'll come back there and help her out it's crazy okay we should hit some solid loud there we go finally holy cow I'm not sure if I got any of that because the GoPro is screwing up but if not if it was screwed up I'll just do it quickly again so I just came in here to see how decent of a little clearing there was there's a little bit but they're just it's a little tight like I said the Centaur will be like a bull in a china shop in here so so man the amount of downed trees around basically any lake is just insane the wind must really get going across like the open Lake and it just smashes these trees there's just literally trees on top of trees that's why you'll you'll never ever run out of firewood around the lake there's just so many downed trees so I was saying my ideal spot would be would be kind of on the you know camped on the top of a bit of a you know bit of a drop off um facing west would be super cool that would be ideal so that's what we're kind of looking for but we're gonna do is we're gonna I'm gonna hop back on the satellite image I'm gonna see how far this metal goes up here if it doesn't look like it leads anywhere we'll turn around and we'll head back to the lake okay looking at uh the satellite image it really doesn't go much further and it just basically uh closes off into tall trees so we're just going to turn around and head back out to the lake okay what feels like 14 laps around the lake which it really wasn't we basically went to the North End and we started coming back down the east side again we found I think the perfect spot so we're just going to cut a little bit of this dead Fallout cut this one super dead guy and then we can uh drive right up there and then I haven't walked up here yet I was waiting to walk up here with you guys so we got lots of little rocks here to make a little fire pit so that's good so we can drag some of this Deadfall out of here if we have to the Centaur can just drive right over that but the Aurora might need a little bit more of a clear path but we'll see but up here I'm excited it looks really good I'm just going to try to find a way to get the heck up there oh look someone already had like something here a long long long time ago everything's all rotten but yeah this is perfect literally will park probably park right here wherever it's fairly level it kind of Falls away that way but no this is pretty much pretty much perfectly what I had in mind so we'll be able to watch this beautiful sunset clean up some of this Dead Fall here this guy's not dead but he's definitely fall so yeah this is this is mint it's on this tiny little point you can tell a lot of animals use this a lot of them dead here it's all like deer beds or whatever else is up here but yeah this is like straight straight beaten down by animals so that's okay we'll be in the center we'll be safe no this is perfect right on all that looking and we could have been here an hour or two ago but that's okay it's part of the journey all right [Music] hug the tree thank you looks good okay oh pull the e-brake River's like that's good and then just put it in first and shut it off does that feel pretty level it looks good freaking perfect we made two little ramp logs there that log there that looks pretty dang level now freak yeah it looks perfect like you can tell on the on the camera but it does look really good so that's gonna be our view right there you go Smash down these other two dead trees a couple of these dead branches we didn't have to cut this dead guy down so it'll be a little bit more of a Windbreak but uh maybe these little guys maybe or maybe not maybe we'll just leave it we'll see this is my pea pod in the forest so I set it up off camera just in case when I got on it it broke can you imagine falling on those locks that weird it's pretty cool though like you can like totally totally wrap yourself up keep yourself warm do you think we could both fit in it I don't know I think that'd be Max over Max Capacity it's pretty comfy how it is awesome I want to play with all the oh that tree I cut falling down the rest I want to go try some of the truck stuff and make a fire oh yeah the Smokies let's do it all right okay so we got wood chop wood chop yep and we got our Pagan for our Grill which might be a little low but it still doesn't seem that sturdy but anyways let's have our little Fair rate Rod you could buy these like all over the place so all you do is like you ready I don't know if it's gonna work I don't know if we got enough dry stuff here but we'll see Survivor oh man that's quite the Sparks wow totally take two okay ready so I got some real thin like birch bark real thin stuff so maybe that'll go better I wish I got these thorns out here man you could see it's burning in God that's super impressive Sparks oh too much it's kind of hard because it's kind of swirly wind right now too those are some crazy Sparks what crazy Spark and like burnt a hole through the through the bark oh there right there let's keep adding we got her so yeah you could literally do that ten thousand times like you can see I was striking it a lot like there's a bit missing but look at this fire it's a little Twigs that we got from the bushes so we tried to do it as authentically as possible here we brought we brought egg cartons and everything in paper but he was like well we gotta try yeah look how good it worked that was easy but just in cases okay but we did it look at this guy he's like foraging for popcorn that I dropped on the ground you just found some tasty snacks he's like I'll make sure that we don't need anything behind him no trees yeah and keep on going yeah because the goal is to get yeah well you'll never you'll never be I'm just gonna leave you out here look at this yeah can you leave that okay so uh we're gonna get this going enough so that we've got some coals but that's gonna take a little while but we got some more stuff set up we got our little Coleman chairs and uh yeah so we're doing good here that time it's five what is it 5 30. it is almost six five to six holy takes man it is so late in the year look how high the sun is you guys it's almost 6 p.m like it's gonna be light till like eight we've got the hammock set up pea pod here go sit in the hammock show them house okay this one I'm gonna wipe out no you won't we already tried it both of us are in it it's perfect it's super comfy the only thing is if something did happen you're basically falling to your death so hey just be careful here we'll go this side sun behind us [Applause] as I'm sure as I trip and fall yeah perfect look at this icy guys it's like natural AC it must be it must be plus 15 right now it is so warm it's crazy River's barking because he wants to go in there because Mrs Austin took him in there already it's pretty comfy hey so I don't know if all the ferrite rods work that good but I'll just show you guys the Box we don't have like Amazon Affiliates or anything but I just want to see stuff that worked so this is it right here I don't know if it's grizzly grizzly wolf or wolf grizzly but man those suckers really threw Sparks so I think that was from Costco so yeah if you guys are looking for a good ferrite set I think that was off Amazon so bam and then we got this you guys ever watch Project farm he reviews stuff he reviewed hand saws and this one was like number one place this Corona holy cow does it cut like just rifle through stuff when Mrs us is done relax and I'll show you guys but it is such a fast cutter it cuts on the pullback stroke and holy cow nice little thing got some other little fun stuff in there for later maybe go take a drink out of the lake we'll see here I am doing a whole walk through the saw cut everything off sorry I didn't push record she says the song that's really good here once you show the saw cutting instead of me see the song it's down here get it was really good and I'll cut those again so it only cuts when you pull back oh it was way easier before okay so much sap oh there you go anyways it's a really good saw so give me some coasters so again it's we went through all those it's a Corona RS 7265 so collapse is down it's not super small but because it's larger it makes it cut so good so again we don't have an affiliate link or anything I just was looking for stuff that worked really good and this all rips it's from Project Farm I watched project Farm all the time and I've bought a few things he's recommended because he tests them all awesome okay did you push record yeah [Music] foreign [Music] it's so easy well I guess if you remember garbage bag it's so easy to pack out what you brought in but yet you still find double a batteries and red clips and this is definitely a people have used this little area to Camp before so they've seen exactly what we've seen just a nice little elevated position really nice view so we'll pick back up if he if he goes after his bone but it is buried right there no so we got this great seasoning now look at the size of that grate that you could cook a hole it looks like it's gonna yeah a little bit but it's got an edge on it and I could pull that thing back a little bit yeah it's good yeah it's good so it's got a kind of like a big set screw there so you can you can swing it out to get your stuff off I guess so how would you do that with a stick yeah with a stick for sure so you wouldn't burn yourself but look at the size of that thing it looks like a full-size oven rack yeah but that's okay yeah you could put that pole like in there so that most of the rack was over the fire but we only have a few Smokies to cook so it's no big deal we'll just cook them on that edge once the coals burn down yeah so far it's pretty cool it's a it's a it packs down into that real thin cardboard box so when you have the room to bring it it's definitely nice it's a little bit big for you know say if you're taking on an ATV or something probably okay we still got a little bit of smoke but we got pretty good coal so This Is Us couldn't wait one sausage but yeah no it's good it's cooking good it's cooking awesome so she put them on wiener Forks just so it's wiener six just so it's super easy to turn and yeah you need we have Forks but yeah tongs would work good so I'm gonna try something I never tried um in a boat I don't know probably half hour I'm gonna launch the Drone and the Mini 3 pro has 45 minute battery life I'm gonna try to do a time lapse of the sunset from from up in the air so I'm gonna try to fly it for the whole 45 minutes so hopefully I capture the whole Sunset God it's so bright it's like literally it's plus 15 right now it's so gorgeous out they're just a slight breeze there's not a freaking soul on this entire lake or anywhere even around it that's what's super cool and yes I did tie that end of the thing to it completely dead tree but it still got good good roots sort of all attitude what's it called nothing this hammock I couldn't think of the name I have a kiss oh guys look at that sunset this is why I wanted to be on the East Shore looking West so we could see that beautiful sunset everything turned out so good little fire starter work good that hand saw worked good little RC shirt were good except for when I dropped it and broke the back but I can glue it so I got the Drone up doing a time lapse of the sunset hopefully it turns out super cool I'm using um refrigerator yeah it's just so freaking gorgeous so right now I can't even believe it what we picked the absolute best day to come do this do you like our little parking there for the Aurora hidden back in the bush rivers in his little kennel there so pretty soon we're gonna get in here and get all snuggly and I don't know if there's any service we could probably watch a movie tonight who sleeping bags just in case but so hopefully that double White's good enough I'm sure it'll be fine maybe minus five tonight so definitely not that cold so holy smokes it's almost 8 A.M that was actually a very very comfortable sleep so the wabasto ran most of the night and it kept it just perfect we shut it off about an hour ago and it is chilly in here right now remember what do you think he's like yeah turn that heater back on he says somebody named me good good work good work even in the cold I took him hey can you uh turn that heater back on please he says yeah no kidding okay guy guy guy nobody okay hey he's really torquing it up though okay anyways so we gotta figure out what we're gonna do with the rest of the afternoon we're gonna go Adventure there's some really cool little Trails oh yeah that I seen it and there's a really big rock that I want to go get there but anyways yeah we gotta go check out some Trails today this guy's gonna say hey let's go check on the trails but as far as the Centaur being an excellent over Landing vehicle holy cow it's comfortable as hat so if if you could literally do this and if you you know how they set up those little drawer things where you can yeah the fridge in there yeah you'd have a little stove thing you could just finish everything yeah you could really set it up really good and then you just need some velcro curtains for there there there there's a lot of Windows yeah but I mean typically yeah you go to bed at a decent time you don't yeah but it definitely is cool out in the morning especially at this time of year so it would help the R value a lot in the say if you're camping in the middle of winter say it was 20 or 30 below yeah but we were we were just just pretending like if you know the scenario came up that we could we could do this with a minimal amount we were pretending we're just practicing I'm just saying it was like a test run and it worked out fabulous who would think it would get website and also everyone's like opening up their fifth wheels and stuff and you just roll up in this and just and then roll away and go for adventure yeah roll right into Lake and go fishing yeah good stretch it is a little nipply this morning I am not gonna lie [Laughter] because it was so dang warm in there last night look at the condensation holy cow guy uh maybe rig up a little uh vent fan or something but that little wobasto heater man does it work good it's on the other side but it worked so mint all day so the um test will be when we go to start it because the wabasco heater runs off the main battery so we'll see how much it drained the battery it ran for probably I would say nine hours I would say so um the good thing about the Centaur is uh they have a backup battery and it's isolated from the system so it never it never uh gets worn down so if you go to start it doesn't have enough battery power you flick a switch it goes to the auxiliary battery and boom it starts so and then we also brought a couple booster packs just in case too so oh right yeah this guy's like yeah yeah yeah yeah are we ready to go Let's Chill supposedly just jump straight Footprints okay okay so um how freaking awesome did our little storage space work out here it worked out so rad so a little two by fours on the floor so everything skids in so it fits four of these perfectly but we had a little camera tote another little tote to go in and then there's still room on top for the chairs this is awesome to talk about if you had one of those pull out drawers and you had like a fridge that's how lots of people do it you know do you think you're gonna have it set up you pull it out and you have a fridge and a sink in your prep area yeah holy could you imagine I've seen a couple of the units online that had it like that so I'm like that's epic but again you'd have to make it so that you could take it out so that you can still utilize if needed yeah or so you want to make this kind of functional so you can take this out and use it um without you know compromising the space very small now we we're taking out our garbage mostly you know bottled water but yeah so let's just go make sure you bring your boots yep so this is the tour a little a little leftover wood so you know I feel like somebody else might have used this for a little campsite so it's here for the next person and uh yeah there's some Adventure trails along here I didn't go too far whoever had this campsite before had this little lean tube I'm assuming they put a tarp over top and maybe slept somehow you know I'm not sure but anyway they got their little fire pit we left that we just kind of cleaned it out a little bit got rid of some down trees and yeah we're out people are going to use this way more now that it's cleared out it was so there was so much Deadfall and stuff I don't think this lake is used a lot let's just say that maybe in the winter there's a trap line somewhere along here yeah I didn't show you guys yesterday three different uh trap sets we came along yesterday was super cool they're easy to find they're marked with Red River we didn't go in we just from the lake so overall we're gonna go for Trails let's do it do it overall that was a a humongous success it works so good as good as I imagined it would but like almost even better the bed having a whole queen size bed up there and been able to run the well so here oh yeah you gotta try to start it okay thank you yeah it sounds okay watch the glow plugs it was a little chilly last night so how do you know when the glow plug light shuts off no the glow plug light is probably off start it wow like nothing so yeah I guess if you were uh you know what would be the coolest is if you had a solar panel on the roof to trickle charge it during the day and then you could run it all night wow that's awesome like I said it ran for nine hours so the battery runs a little fuel pump and a little fan and then it burns diesel fuel this little guy right here this is your Webasto heating unit here so that's the the heat goes in there or also goes into the engine bay you have a dampener to control so you can use it for the winter to warm up your motor and then like I said the exhaust goes out there and the air intake is there so it's it intakes air from the exterior so it works so perfect man the Centaur is so quiet all right that's awesome okay well we're packed up we're ready to freaking go I just got to get this baby out of the garage over there and now we'll head down onto the ice [Music] I think that's it for today so we went and checked out a couple Trails uh mostly it's all decommissioned logging roads they did a whole bunch of logging East to here and looks like north of here um we found one really cool Trail um we only went a certain distance because it was a little narrow it'd be nice to come with the side by side and come back but uh what super but uh yeah that's it as far as the Centaur uh over Landing rig it's so awesome yesterday and last night and this morning so and we did get service and we did watch a movie last night I fell asleep so you watched this is so awesome anyways we wouldn't be able to do any of the any of this without you guys you guys are super number one in our hearts in our minds we're always thinking about you we love you guys leave
