I'm Zach and I'm Michelle and this is a couple games YouTube channel and in this video we are excited to talk about our favorite games for two players so a lot of these games are played at either one to five but we think that they play really well at two I think there's actually one that's a two-player only game but like I said we just think these are our favorite five games for two people all right you wanna get started yeah all right so first on our list is Nova Luna so Nova Luna is gosh I don't even know what you would call this game a race but you're basically building patterns with these colored tiles um and the way it works is you had this Sundial around and you can only move the moon uh one to three spaces and when you land on a towel you take an add it to your collection and then you're also trying to create patterns so you can put down these colored discs in the first player to put down all their color discs it's the winner yeah like you said it's a it's a race for sure one mechanism I really like in this game is that if you are behind you you keep going until you're not behind anymore like along that that ring that Circle as long as your token is like in last place it's still your turn so that can really work in your benefit to try and plan to where you can have two turns in a row uh compared to the other player so I know that's that's what I always try to do yeah and the way that uh turn token moves that Michelle's talking about when you take a tile it has a ton value on the tile and that's how many spaces you move your token so if your token's in last or if it's on the top of a stack then you get to go um so yeah yeah so this game doesn't take a whole whole lot of focus either like we've played this like on a Saturday morning like with kids running around in the background just like because you could take your turn and then you could wait a little bit and then the other person can go and alternate it is obviously more fun if you can do it uninterrupted but it can also be played with a little bit more like an interruptions or things like going on in the background too and it's not it doesn't take away too bad from like the impact or I don't know the fun yeah okay that's Neville yeah the next one on our list is parks so in Parks you are you have these hikers and a little track so we can turn around like that you can see it you're moving your hikers along this track to collect resources and eventually with those resources you are going to visit uh different parks and these are all from like a National Geographic type magazine or calendar I forget but the the illustrations in a really gorgeous um that you're trying to get these parks that are worth points and your worker is going to move along the trail you're going to collect different resources based on your movements which will trigger you getting those Parks eventually as you collect maybe more water or sun trees and mountains I think those are the four biggest resources and there's also a wild resource too so this is a really fun I feel like it's still pretty laid back but it it has like a good bit of strategy as far as like which Parks am I going to go for based which resources I'm most likely going to be collecting is my opponent going to be blocking some of those spaces because there is a good little a good level of like competition because you could definitely block each other in this game which is why I thought this was a great one for two because sometimes in two player games there's so much going on or sorry sometimes in some games when two people are playing there's so much going on that you never interact because you just have so many options but in Parks I feel like you still interacting across paths a good bit like I mean every round to you it's like it's a definite component you're going to cross paths so that's that's one reason that I thought this one was still great for two but it can also be played one to five yeah but yeah and really cool aspect of that the blocking like Michelle's talking about is if it's my turn I can go as far as I want to grab a space but I'm also limiting my future turns because you can never go backwards on the track and so yeah it's a nice push and pull there yeah that's parks it's a good one third on our list is King Domino and we like the origins version there's also just a vanilla King Domino there's a queen Domino um this one's kind of a nice blend between the two because it can be as simple as king Domino which is like the entry level uh it wouldn't like the Spiel just yours one year and then Queen Domino expanded on that and added another layer of like you have money you're buying buildings and things like that trying to think so yeah so the the biggest difference between King Domino and King Domino Origins is your ability to change where the point multipliers go so in King Domino it's crowns but in King Domino Origins it's fire and little fire tokens you can actually have more control and you can place those versus them already being on the tile where you're a little more limited so that's the biggest reason that we have really transitioned to only playing King Domino Origins versus King Domino uh we'll still play like King Domino with family or someone that really doesn't want to go beyond that the the basics of that of that game but this has been really fun for two players it does take in just enough of those elements of Queen Domino to kind of add a little bit more with again the Choice multipliers and then the resources too yeah the mammoths the arrowheads fish yeah so that's a nice resource where you can either either trying to collect majority of those in one of the modules or you're spending them as resources to get more Point tiles basically and we didn't do a good job of explaining like the beginning of the beginning of this game that you're trying to mesh certain regions together so you want to have maybe all your water together or all of your Meadows or all of your like forests um I'm trying to think of the ones that are in this game yeah Meadows forests it's like a desert uh yeah it doesn't and then there's like a cave whatever this yes cave area cave area but go ahead yeah no I was just gonna say the way you're getting those towels that Michelle's talking about is you're drafting them with your little cave people every round what's neat about the two-player game is in a normal like three or four player game you only get one meeple then a two-player game you get two so there's a chance that you can go back to back have two turns in a row essentially because of the way the tiles are laid out from last round because you're choosing yeah your your turn could you get that choice so that's why I really like this one at two maybe even more than I like it at three or four because you have that and you also have the option to make a bigger Grid in the um three and four player game you can only do like a five by five but in the two player game you can use all the tiles again go seven by seven so yeah we always play it as seven by seven uh we yeah so solid game for two I should definitely check it out I think about adding it to your shelf if you play a lot of games a two-player yeah it's kingdominal Origins the net the the fourth one on our list is Seven Wonders duel so Seven Wonders was a game about drafting cards that could play up to seven players which is really neat because everybody's going at the same time Seven Wonders dual is our it's our game that's only a two-player game um so if you know you're just a couple you only play with one other person this is an excellent choice it's even toted as being the best version of Seven Wonders but in this game you're you're doing the same thing you're drafting the cards but it's more in like a pyramid structure there's three rounds and the structure changes every time but you're drafting these cards to your Tableau it could be resources it could be military but one thing I really like about this game is there are multiple ways to win so if I mentioned the military if you get enough military that pushes the marker all the way to your opponent's side of the board then you win the game uh science yeah if you collect I think it's six of the seven or eight science symbols um in your Tableau you win or you can just play out the whole game um and then at the end of the game you add up points and most points wins so very cool yeah this game is really good you definitely get in each other's way because you're constantly taking a car that the other person might want or you might be intentionally burning a card because you notice that if they get it it's gonna be really good for them so you kind of have to play some defense in this game sometimes that's all you're doing if you know like say they only need one more science token then you're gonna do whatever you can to prevent them from getting that last one so yeah this is one of the most head-to-head games or conflicty games that I feel like we play we play yeah and uh there's also two expansions for it which are great both I think it's the Agora and the pantheon are really good um that Gore is even cool because it adds a fourth way to win and that's to control like the Senate so very cool last on our list is it's a bigger game five tribes so five tribes is a game that's uh it uses like a mancala mechanism if you've ever played Mancala where you you grab a fistful of the stones and then you drop them one at a time around this uses little meeples and they're colored and they all have a different ability but you you grab them off a tile and then you move them and you keep going until you've dropped the last one and you drop the last one on the tile it activates its color power and then you activate that tiles paddle and the tiles are all laid out randomly each game these are like all the tiles here yeah so every one of those pieces is actually an individual tile you lay out so it's not actually a board until you put all the tiles or the board together yeah and then yeah you can see the different colored meeples that's what acts as that Mancala mechanism that we've I don't know is that what everyone calls it they just kind of dub it that okay that's what they call it okay and then you can see your actual player pieces are these little like Temple looking it's talking about tower Tower Temple things yeah um I really love the like fun pieces in this game because you could get palm trees on your tiles and that activates more points there's palaces and then there's um Kim the camels are how you mark like you've conquered that top okay so the pieces are really fun and they add I don't know they just like make the board look really pretty you can see as you're going through like okay they have you have eight camels with the territories I have seven like it's you can kind of see how well you're doing as you're playing this game but you still don't know uh that's our dog yeah that's our dog yeah this you really don't know who's winning until the very end because there's a lot of cards involved too yeah because you're collecting different sets uh you're getting Genies uh or Gins they call them and they have powers yeah um but I really like this at two and I don't know if you've ever played it more than two but at two you get um two of those little Tower pieces that Michelle was talking about um and normally you would only get one and basically your every round you bid for turn order like you say I want to go first and I'm going to pay this amount of coins to do it well into two player game you can line up two of your pieces so that you have two turns in a row again and so that's something that you don't get in the other player counts which is really cool because this game it's hard to have a long-term strategy because the board state will change constantly it's like okay I want to pick up those and go there but Michelle just went and she she dropped a meeple on there so that's going to change how many spaces I can move and so yeah that's a really good point uh yeah so we've had this game for a while it's definitely been on our Shelf probably one of the longer longer lasting games and we we really like it maybe you don't have any plans to get rid of it so that's our last game that we recommend for two hope you guys enjoyed some of those recommendations please feel free to drop your favorite games at two in the comment section and like And subscribe tell us what other videos you want to see and we will try and get those made that's right until next time I'm Zach and I'm Michelle and this is been a couple games [Music]
