welcome to the live service from Family Worship Center this service is also being broadcast live on Sun Life radio online worldwide at Sun Life tv.com and on the free SPM open your Bibles please to the book of second Samuel 2nd samuel chapter 6 and i do thank the lord for this opportunity and of course the swaggered family for allowing me to stand behind this pulpit I grew up watching the Jimmy Swaggart telecast watching many services from this platform and as I've said it I think every time that I've stood here I never dreamed that I would in fact be standing here and it's just incredible what the Lord does and what he can do amen praise God second Samuel Chapter six we'll begin reading in verse 12 and it was told King David saying the Lord has blessed the house of obed-edom hallelujah the Lord has blessed the house of obed-edom and all that pertains unto him because of the Ark of God so David went and brought up the Ark of God from the house of obed-edom into the City of David with gladness and when it was so that when they who were they who bore the Ark of the Lord had gone 6 paces he sacrificed oxen and fat wings and David danced before the Lord with all his might praise God tonight if the Lord will help us we want to deal with the subject bring back the Ark bring back the Ark hallelujah hallelujah bow your heads please Heavenly Father Lord we come in the name of Jesus and Lord we love you tonight Lord I'm asking that you would touch me that you would help me to preach and proclaim that which you have placed on my heart Lord that you would anoint the people to hear it and receive it Lord above all we give you the praise and give you the glory in all things in Jesus name we ask it and say and all God's people said amen amen praise the Lord praise the Lord I remember asking my grandmother dad's mother in a conversation one time said grandma what is if you can pick one what is your favorite book of the Bible and it's difficult to pick a book of the Bible because it is all the Word of God but she stopped and she thought for a minute she said well you know what I love to read first and second Samuel she said I love to read it because in these books we see the grace of God the blessing of God and the forgiveness of God but we see how the Lord works she said I love to read first and second Samuel these are very important books in the Word of God as far as time frame and cont chronology because in them in 1st Samuel as an example we see the great prophet Samuel introduced the man who would be the first to stand in the office of the Prophet incidentally 1st Samuel would also phase out the dispensation the ear of the time frame of the judges as we would see Eli the high priest the scripture says of him that he judged Israel for 40 years and then Samuel standing in that same capacity really a dual capacity and we see the introduction as well of the kingdoms the kingship starting with Saul but ultimately looking at David the one whom God would choose so these are very pivotal times that we look at when we read in 1st his 2nd Samuel regarding the people of God and the time frame the text that we read tonight as is overly obvious as a time of great joy of great jubilation of great praise because it says of David that he danced before the Lord with all his might but to understand where we are in these passages in 2nd Samuel we have to look back in history just a little bit we have to look back at where the progression of events had come from in the book of 1st Samuel we see that as we transition from the time of the judges we look at the spiritual climate of Israel of God's people and we see them spiritually I don't think it's wrong to save virtually dry and lost for we have a situation where God raises up the great prophet Samuel but at the timeframe that samuel was born eli who i mentioned just a minute ago was the high priest eli had two sons hophni and Phinehas they served in the capacity of priests as well but what the scripture says regarding these two individuals is you shudder when you read it for the scripture says that they the sons of Eli were sons of Belial worthless worthless it says that they committed great sin and great evil in the eyes of God now what did they do first they aboard they tampered with they degraded the sacrifice for you see when the people would bring the peace offering unto God and the peace offering signified that though sin had destroyed and put a barrier between us and God the man is no longer at peace with God but when Jesus Christ died on Calvary's cross peace with God was made possible again hallelujah you can have peace with God peace with God peace with God and the peace of God because of what Christ did but the people would bring it and the priests were entitled to a portion of the sacrifice I believe it was the right shoulder and the breast and as a little side note and I love this part of the component of this peace offering was called the wave offering they would take a portion of the sacrifice the priest would and he would hold it and he would wave it toward the brazen altar and then he would go and wave it to all the four corners of north south east and west signifying that the trespass the sin of the one bringing the sacrifice was covered by the blood of that sacrifice let me tell you the next time that Satan or a good Christian tries to come at you and remind you of your past what you did how bad that you were all these other things you waive the offering in front of them and say oh no that's under the blood it's under the blood I'm free I'm set free I'm at peace with God hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah glory don't wave your good works at him but wave the offering Jesus Christ in his finished work at Calvary praise God praise the Lord but the portion that the priests weren't titled - the sons of Eli hophni and Phinehas they used it as an occasion to enrich themselves they did not serve God they served their own bellies and they committed an atrocity in the eyes of God it got so bad as they literally forcefully took an unlawful portion of the sacrifice they took it to themselves it got so bad now think of this that the people of God they didn't even look forward coming to give sacrifice because they knew what was going on and with that it did not stop you see when you don't have the cross right it's a downhill slide from there it will never get better I don't care if the preacher says a few good things if Jesus Christ and him crucified is not the center is not the centrality of the message if that is not the center and the object of faith then there's nothing else that's worth listening to it is first the sacrifice it is first Jesus Christ and him crucified glory so it didn't stop there because they committed immoral acts with the women who were dedicated to the service in the tabernacle they committed extramarital adulterous acts and the scripture says though that it came to the attention of Eli their father and the high priest and he came to them and he gave them nothing more than a tap on the hand and they continued on in their evil ungodly ways until finally the Lord was fed up and the word came twice to Eli the first time was through someone who was unnamed with the Lord laid it on their heart and brought a scathing message of warning of judgment and then through Samuel as a boy the word came to Eli yet Eli did nothing hear me Eli did nothing he should have come in his position and removed them from the priesthood he should have stepped up and said no no this the pure righteous holy sacrifice unto God must be preserved the righteousness of God must be looked at we cannot have this and remove them but he did nothing what I'm about to say I say out of love and I pray that you receive it in the heart that I have it but there are many today of the previous generation who know better they know should no ought to know the Word of God they ought to know that which is right the Spirit of God the presence of God but they have said nothing regarding the things that have crept into the church as a matter of fact they have set back and they have allowed psychology purpose-driven mysticism contemplative prayer all kinds of other things that are not of God to come into the church and now we've got an entire generation of younger preachers and younger ministers that don't know what it is to preach Christ and him crucified they all that they know is let's try to entertain the people let's try to just get him on the pews let's just try to get him into church but nobody has spoken up and said it's wrong don't look to those things don't preach those things preach the word preach the word preach the word Paul would tell Timothy preach the word glory to God preach the word hallelujah it's the word that'll set the captive free it'll save the lost heal the sick free the bound the word of Almighty God hallelujah glory to God but instead they're giving them feel-good messages well get right with the Lord and you'll feel fine giving him feel-good messages how to be a better you the best you that there can be is dead and buried and alive in Christ Jesus glory to God but there's an entire generation that we would call the Eloi generation they know better you see Eli the scripture says it he was the high priest he served as a judge the Lord used him to speak to Samuels mother Hannah regarding Samuel and she would bear additional children she was barren but she would have more children after that God used Eli and had Eli repented had Eli repented and addressed what needed to be addressed it would have saved a lot of heartache and a lot of destruction preachers passed you are my elder please I beg you don't sit silently don't let that which you know is not the Word of God be put forth in the church but stand up and say I don't care if it's not popular I don't care if the people don't want it it doesn't matter we're preaching the gospel we're preaching Jesus Christ and him crucified Jesus Saves jesus heals Jesus baptized with the Holy Spirit and Jesus is coming again preach heaven beautiful and sweet preach hell hot give them the gospel glory to God tell your associate pastors tell your youth pastors preach the gospel under the anointing of the Holy Ghost that's the answer that's the answer that's the answer but I thank God that we're not just left with a hophni and Phinehas generation but it thrills me to see that my contemporaries and my peers pastor gave Paris Joseph Adam I think this is all the Baba College right here some of them here we've got a generation of younger people younger preachers that will stand up and say I'll be counted I will preach the gospel I will preach the gospel I will preach the cross so you can have psychology you can have Purpose Driven you can have all that mess give me the presence of God give me the glory of God give me the presence of God give me the cross hallelujah hallelujah hmm praise the Lord glory to God because there's a great harvest that is ready ready now now now there are souls now that are ready to give their hearts to Christ they must just hear of the man named Jesus and they will accept him glory to God hallelujah praise the Lord now I know why Gabe always undoes this tie about this time in the message but the spiritual climate of Israel was as we described at the time under Eli hophni and Phinehas it was bankrupt because as was the priesthood in the leadership spiritually which there really wasn't he so went the rest of the nation and the Philistines came up against and they brought forth the Ark of the Covenant and as I read it it looks as though they did it as a sorts maybe above a talisman or something a measure of good luck I don't know but we know that it wasn't right because escorting the ark were these two Rascals hophni and Phinehas now the word of the Lord had come to Eli if you don't fix this if you don't do what you ought to and repent and make it right judgments going to come and your sons will die and I will cut off the lineage of the priesthood from you he did nothing and the day came in battle-worthy where Israel was defeated and they brought forth the ark thinking well if we bring the ark this time surely we will win they at least knew this much that the power of God which was represented by the ark was the only thing that could bring them the deliverance in the victory they at least had that much right they knew that it took God that they couldn't do it on their own but they had so much else wrong and the battle that day ended with over 30,000 losing their lives including hophni and Phinehas in the Ark of God was taken out of Israel and when Eli the scripture describes him is sitting there and he had grown old he had grown fat he had grown complacent and as he set there one from the tribe of Benjamin ran from the battlefield were laying the horrible news saying first of all that we've lost the battle Israel is defeated 30,000 or dead and Eli your two sons have died but it was on the news that the Ark of God had been taken that he fell backward in his stiff neck broke and he died and his daughter-in-law of the wife of Phineas she went into labor upon hearing this news and gave birth to a child and named that child Ichabod the glory has departed what a sad sorrowful dark time to look at that God would say my glory has departed the Ark which represented the presence of God the power of God was gone out of Israel that aptly describes so much of the church today not just the church as a whole but I believe some individually they would say I feel as though the glory of God the power of God is not present in my life it's not why I'm not seeing it happening I'm seeing others but I'm not seeing it for me just hold on hallelujah because the story does not end here now the ark would make its way through several cities of the Philistines and they didn't know what to do with it all I know is the Lord smote them pretty badly they didn't know what to do with it so they said well let's give it back to Israel the world doesn't know what to do with Jesus if you don't accept him then you're at a loss but if you accept him you can have blessing unparalleled the Philistines could have had joy unspeakable but they missed it and it came back and to make a long story short they put it in the house of abinadab in curiosity and the Ark of God now hear this the Ark of God set every indication in Scripture and I take it literally is that the Ark of God set out in a field by some woods and sat there for 70 years we would hear no mention save one small short time under Saul because Saul was a work of the flesh there was no need for God in his mind we would see the ark set in a field unattended for 70 years for 20 years of the Philistines ruling over them or having influence on them 40 years of Saul's reign in the first 10 or so years of David's reign the Ark of God the presence of God the power of God setting out in the field in the wilderness that appellee describes the spirituality of Israel they had been through a wilderness once but they spiritually were aware named in wilderness at that time but the day comes that now David Dave is on the throne hallelujah Jerusalem the City of David Jesus Christ the Son of David David is on the throne and God has blessed him God has helped him and given him great victory and David says he gathers many together and he says we must go get the Ark and bring the ark to Jerusalem the ark had been at Shiloh it was now time for Jerusalem now they would go and they would fetch the ark from the house of abinadab where it had sat for 70 years and they would get great fanfare together now follow me they got the instruments they got the choirs they got all of the fanfare together and they built a nice a brand-new beautiful wonderful tremendous amazing incredible cart I mean it was the newest of the new carts and they put the ark on the new cart and when it came across the threshing floor the cart began to topple and wobble and Uzi who should have known better for the ark was at his home he was of the house of abinadab he should have known better he reached back to steady the ark and the Lord struck him dead immediately they were right David was right and all of those were right to say we must bring back the Ark to Jerusalem they were right but they were going about it in the wrong way they did it in a way that was outside contrary and against what the Word of God stated there are many right now all over this land all over this world and many and denominations many in churches across this land they are right that we need a revival they are right that we must have the presence of God in our churches they are right that we must have the presence of God in our homes in our hearts and in our lives that there's nothing worth doing without the presence and help of Almighty God but they're trying to bring about the revival in a way that God will not have that he will not move you can't assure it in you can't bring it about through entertainment and through emotion and through getting the people just involved a move of God is just that a move of God it's not a move of man it's not something that we can put together or that we can contrive and make look like the past no no it's a move of God and friend when he begins to move no man to stop it when he begins to move the sick will be healed when he begins to move the loss to save when he begins to move glory hallelujah now I won't revival I'm praying right along with them but it will not come through means that man has put about it will not come on a new cart the only thing that will come of that here me is spiritual death because with all the fanfare with all of the celebration with all that was going on desiring the ark to come come bring back the ark to Jerusalem death happens as a result ladies and gentlemen the way that the Word of God or I should say what God prescribed was that the ark would be born on the backs of the priests who were types of Christ the presence of God the glory of God the power of Almighty God comes on the back of Jesus Christ if I can use that term it only comes through Jesus Christ and him crucified that's it the Holy Spirit will always point to Christ he will always lift up Christ it will always be Jesus Christ we get a lot of questions how do I know if this is of God how do I know if that is right it's very simple if it lifts up Jesus Christ and not a man then you can best be sure it it's of God but if it lifts up a man in any part it's not of God and David was fearful because he saw what happened how is Oh was struck dead and they brought the ark to the house of obed-edom hallelujah and the scripture says that for the three months that the Ark was in the house of obed-edom that God blessed the house of obed-edom Oh hallelujah hallelujah when the Ark of God was there in the house of obed-edom and obed-edom attended to the ark rightly properly the correct means and way God began to bless the house of obed-edom and friend that means they started to hear throughout all of Israel throughout all the land how God was blessing obed-edom have you heard what's happening in the house of obed-edom God has blessed the house of Obed hallelujah God is blessing Family Worship Center God has blessed SPN God has blessed the house of Josh Rosen Stern God has blessed the house of brother Joe God has blessed your house because of the ark the ark the ark the presence the presence the power of God hallelujah hallelujah bring back the Ark bring back the yard bring back the yard bring back the yard hallelujah and God bless the house of obed-edom my lord praise God glory to God that is your answer friend I don't care what your need is it doesn't matter God will bless you and it wasn't just obed-edom it was his house and everything that he tended to God will bless you on your job he'll bless you at school he'll bless you and your family he will bless you in every way bring back to the ark and God bless the house of obed-edom glory to God hallelujah the glory of God and David heard this and he said let's go and bring the ark back to Jerusalem go and bring the ark but this time the scripture says and indicates that he sought the Word of God before he sought the ideas and approval of the people but this time he sought the Word of God and he gathered together the priests and they went now here's the difference and get this the scripture says as we read it tonight that when they began first of all they bore it on the back of the priests as we sit in and all of the choirs were present but this time they're singing they're playing they're dancing they're jubilation was not empty nothing's but it was real because things were right the ark was on the back of the priests hallelujah glory to God but here's the difference the scripture says and I know there's debate amongst scholars if we take it literally or not I again to take the Word of God for what it says amen it says that when they began to transport the ark into Jerusalem that they offered up sacrifice every six paces about every 18 feet some say well it was just the beginning the middle it doesn't matter I believe that they offered up sacrifice every step of the way here's what it would look like to the eye and to the nostril of that day he would look and see there's the Ark born on the backs of the priests and behind it was a trail that was of blood of sacrifice but praise God to the Lord that was a sweet savor because it would represent what Jesus Christ would do at Calvary if you could see and if you could have been there 2,000 years ago on that Via Dolorosa which was the path from where Christ was sentenced to die to Calvary it would be a path it would be a road of blood as he bore that cross marching toward Calvary there would leave behind him a trail of blood no doubt disgusting to the human eye but in that would be the salvation of all mankind hallelujah as the ark glory to God as the ark the presence of God and the power of God represented there made its way to Jerusalem on the backs of the priests types of Christ they would walk six paces stop and offer up sacrifice six eighteen more feet stop offer up sacrifice the sacrifice would precede and follow everything regarding the Ark you want the presence of God in your life you want the power of God pastor in your church look to the sacrifice look to the cross preach the cross give them the cross preach the cross hallelujah and as I bring it to a close singers musicians you can come back as they brought it into Jerusalem I love this there was great singing there was great rejoicing there was great fanfare there was great wonder happening and David King David the scripture says that David danced before the Lord with all his might that means that he had an old-fashioned heartfelt holy ghost' Heaven Sent devil chasing sin kill and true-blue red-hot blood-bought God loving camp-meeting service hallelujah glory to God he began to shout he began to dance he began to worship now some of you you'll tune in to our services time and time again and you'll say now I've noticed after pastor Gabe has them sing it for the 20th time that sometimes he'll start to dancing and shouting a little bit on that platform and you'll notice that there's a really tall God that stands back here that sometimes he'll get real happy and he's six foot eight and he'll jump so high it will turn into eight foot six and you'll notice sometimes that brother Joe will start dancing and then he'll start giving people high-fives and you notice that others will start to run others will start to dance some others will start to shout to others and start to cry and you say why is that because the Ark has come the presence of God is here the glory of God is here because he set us free because he's delivered us from sin because he's healed us glory to God bring back the Ark bring back the Ark bring back the hallelujah hallelujah glory to God glory to God praise the Lord the Lord has said it tonight and that's it it's time to bring back the Ark Church pastor Christian it's time the sacrifice is the essential theme key of all of this the sacrifice it's Jesus Christ and him crucified and this revival that we're seeking God for the move of God that we must have we've got to have a touch of God we've got to have the move of God in our hearts our lives it will follow the sacrifice put your eyes on Jesus trust in him and you watch that the Holy Ghost won't give you a camp-meeting service wherever that you are hallelujah glory to God hallelujah stand to your feet tonight bow your heads Heavenly Father we come in the name of Jesus and Lord we thank you that we have the presence of God and the power of God in our hearts and lives Lord we thank you for all that you're doing and right now Lord we believe you we bind our faith together in Jesus name for great and mighty things Lord we're believing you for a great harvest we're believing you for a great revival oh God they will touch your hearts and
