The 3-Gun Showdown!!! with Jerry Miculek

Jerry if you could give me one thing that I should work on to increase and improve my three gun game what would that be you need to work on everything you you're just not really you're not really good at this at all welcome to demolition ranch today is a very special day one that you've all been waiting for it's it's the Texas three gun championship it's called the championship because I'm one of the champions you know it is so we're up here it's 7:00 in the morning right now we're about to get started normally if you're really trying to win this you come walk the stages like the day before so you can actually see everything I did not new such thing so we're just kind of going blind this first stage we're at is pistol and shotgun some targets are shotgun only but some are shotgun or pistol you can kind of decide I'm probably gonna decide on the fly Jerry Mitchell AK is in my squad I'm gonna take him to know Jerry's really good and I'm really special they're about to start this guy he's gonna do most of it on shotgun I think the whole thing on shotgun we shooting slugs now birdshot I'm doing a lot more pissed at Jerry Miculek except next he's always a contender for first place sorry so windy [Music] I'm up next my goal is to go slow and try to be accurate because I get excited and I start going fast and I start missing everything and it ends up taking longer so slow slow and steady it'll be fine yeah it's kinda graphite you just lubricate it really fine [Music] [Music] pretty sure they're just a little slower than Jerry you're right there send them up yeah everything you can't ever thank you anything which was good that's a that's a big win that's a success format character because you executed your plan yeah I got a little confusing the middle but we did good the next stage looks it makes you write it's called out of breath so you start over here shooting shotguns you run over here and then over there sorry for the win there's a bunch of rifle targets you dump your shotgun over there go over here pick up a rifle start shooting rifle targets you dump your rifle run over here start shooting pistol targets all the way around the corner over there I would say 200 yards of sprinting in the middle of this just get your heart rate up make your aims suffer a little bit tricky tricky that's the only advantage I have over Jerry is this stage I could run faster than Jerry I think you do everything else faster and better but I can run faster all that smack talk and Jerry just did the fastest time on this look I'm up next [Music] [Music] whoa so Jerry ran that in 80-something which was the fastest time that anyone's run that course so far I don't know if he ran it clean clean means you hit every target so you get big penalties when you miss a target also when you don't engage a target so if you just forget to shoot at it and you can miss as many times as you want as long as you two hit it so you get penalties if you shoot at it and never actually hit it or if you never shoot it you get even bigger penalty so so far I've run both of these stages clean which means I've hit every target which is good but I ran it in 144 I think enjoy your enemy those old legs can move we're traveling to the next location now I've been told it is shotgun only this place is awesome cut cool this is I'm pretty good with the shotgun shooting it the problem is loading it oh also let me be clear Jerry Mitchell AK is an open class which means he can do anything we have restrictions in my class and so Jerry is loading a shotgun with these giant tubes that makes it super fast so that it does help a little bit actually a lot of it but this is my excuse in three gun competitions it's better to have and not need the need and not have so this is shotgun oh man I want to make sure I have plenty of shotgun rounds so to start I'll have four slugs in the gun and I only need two just in case then I'll have five burger shot and then I've got birdshot eight of them birdshot eight of them birdshot eight of them two birdshot two slugs these are for the slugs at the end I also have a couple stuck in my pocket just in case I missed these and then I got these two there go my belly I should not need this mini but I want to make sure I have them just in case ready for it [Applause] [Music] ah okay so here's the deal out here everything is sand and it's super fine like silks types and and it's windy and dry and so I assume that's what's going on I think this tube this mag tube just got dirty how's have you a ton of trouble because these shells instead of coming out and then going up in here they're coming out like halfway where some of them were just stuff like barely sticking out so there's one I was really trying to get it out of trying to pull it out I couldn't they told me way to fix it I told me to but stroke it watch watch it comments don't don't say putt stroke basically you hit the butt of the shotgun on the ground pulls that show up but I probably had six or seven jam up in there which shouldn't threw me off on the others I'm good at shotgun I was counting on this stage to do really well I don't even get to shoot it one of the Flyers in the air because it didn't have a shell ready for me during it today we only have one more stage and it's the rifle only stage and it's decently long-range I think there's a 500-yard target this is definitely the stage that I am most worried about being able to finish 100 200 250 300 400 450 500 at the [Music] I could not hit the 500 we had a pretty good wind I was aiming like like three feet off to the left couldn't hit it couldn't forgot where I was going after I was finished they were like yeah you needed a I'm like four feet off the left because the wind at the end was really kicking so I didn't clear I got everything else that just missed the one so overall doing okay I want to finish this match in the top 50% I don't know if that's possible after that shotgun stage that really messed me up so today is over for me I come back tomorrow for four more stages and then back the next day for two more Vincent and then a Huey helicopter right now way up here super old-school but check back tomorrow hey man I'm gonna stop you right there it's actually day two now we're gonna roll this day in with day one you'll see why in a bit I'm just gonna I'm gonna send you back to the beginning of the day welcome to demolition ranch and welcome to the second day of the Texas free gun championship out here revelry peak ranch this next stage we're about to do is shotgun rifle and pistol it's all three guns which is gonna be good wish me luck I'm we had to pause the match because there's cows on the range but we're gonna take care of this guys I'm a veterinarian we're gonna do that stick die you know you got a pistol I'm just saying listen ladies there's there's a range right over there I just go down the riverbed it's gonna be safer for everybody that's people there's people Jerry shooting maybe someday I'll be that fast [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] that's a slug on the popper not it was damn it I put into MIDI there's some put in for you hit one two you ejected a slug right there Bob let's do welcome to Disqualification ranch so what happened was you might notice that he stopped me that is because I fired a slug I had a target that was not supposed to be shot with a slug so you noticed there were two green targets you have to hit those with slugs I loaded four shells in I fired and missed the first I hit the next and I hit the next for some reason I thought I had also missed another one in there I thought I'd shot all four of them I went to shoot the birdshot target still had a slug in there nailed it real good with a slug instant match qualification it's in the robot so my friends on the squad are all shooting the next round not me though but let's be honest and that was not gonna win the Texas three gun championship it's even hard for me to admit that but guys I just don't think overall learn a lesson count better all the pros who are here told me don't worry it happens to everyone like idq to the match last week it's no big deal but it was my first DQ it's my third match ever my first DQ so yeah if you go check the standings your boy Matt will be at the very bottom not the top 50% maybe I'll be the top 50% of the people who got DQ'd though so there's something I think my problem is I need to practice more like I've only practiced for three gun matches once ever also I just got my new pistol like two weeks ago so I should have had more time with that also the Sun was in my eyes also I don't think those targets a regulation-size high I didn't get my tape measure out but I just feel like they were and the winds
