better yeah we're live streaming good morning and welcome everyone students as you come in I want you to sit in the front half of the building um you can spread out sit with your family or however you'd like to sit but just sit in the front house don't have anybody s back very much there uh you can go sit down I just thought I needed you for this but hello it's been a while yeah I wish should mostly set it nicely [Music] mon [Music] than well than all right welcome everyone we want to welcome our guests our parents and family and the students of Early College High School to the 2024 merit awards when we started early college we knew from the beginning that we wanted to be in intentional about recognizing the academic effort that our students make and it's really something that's easy to take for granted because sometimes our students make it look too easy uh that they are juggling commitments dual credit classes High School classes and work and internships and they make all of these things balanced and still come out and perform uh with amazing academic rigor on these college classes our students begin taking college classes as sophomores at the end of their ninth grade year uh they begin to test into college classes so our ninth graders this year May 22nd May 23rd will be taking the accuplacer to test into college algebra and College English and they handle us uh they do so well I was going to say they they do this uh uh so calmly but I think that sometimes they're kind of anxious about taking these tests but they they do so well and we're so proud of them today we want to recognize their efforts our teachers have nominated for each subject in each class students that they would like to recognize and then we also have students that will be receiving uh academic and graduation Awards as well as National Honor Society and student council Awards and the tops program so thank everyone for coming out uh today and I would like to start with our first award which is Straight A's presented by Dr Rachel B good morning okay students so here's how this is going to work when you receive an award you're going to walk up these stairs here you're going to cross the stage we'll be standing by the table to give you your certificate shake hands with you or put that cord on and then right here Miss Rodriguez is going to take your photo so that way you have the perfect picture with your award so congratulations today we are recognizing students who have maintained a perfect straight a record this school year the following students have had straight A all year Karina Baka re blend Francesca colaan isek Jesus Lozano Ashlin McInnis Giani and Truman Williams congratulations [Music] on our next award is to recognize students who had perfect or near perfect attendance this is a big issue across the district and so this was really interesting to look at the data and I I do want us to recognize first of all our two students who had perfect attendance for the entire school year Kenya cardosa and Manuel but I I also uh wanted to recognize we had three students who only missed one day which is also significant Juan Carlos Amaya Miko and e e our next award is the counselor award okay she's [Music] still okay and so I will present these um this is a significant award that um we are awarding to dual credit students who had zero withdrawals or FS on their college classes dur during their entire time at ECS and they also received the associate degree so that's significant that they never had to withdraw from class and they never failed the class under their college credit so those students please come forward as we call your name Lucero Cabo is Jacqueline cardosa je leano Patel Patel kimle Anders than and now I'd like to invite Aubrey cardas to come forward to present the leadership letters all right so we also would like to award the leadership letter to students who have been active in student C over the last year attending 80% or more arandes Melissa Guerero J communes Christin Gabriel jenez Sophia and Ranna Curry all right so we are now going to award the following seniors who have participated participated in student council at least half of their High School career these students have shown leadership integrity and respect for their school and their student by yes lez Christine piga Angelie p and Emily next we will be presenting the academic letters presented by Miss Jean HS have quite a list of students so if you will hold your applause till we finish each grade level reblend yes oh and sorry I I should have said we are awarding the academic letter to to students who have maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA starting at the spring semester of sophomore year through the time they graduate so re blend is our first Gabriel ala and Mauricio Cano [Music] spe spe [Music] next Dr Bailey will be presenting the university cords this is W NMU Western New Mexico University recognition of dual cred students WMU would like to recognize students who have earned dual credit throughout their Journey at ECS WMU already passed out the cords to those students who earned associate degrees last Friday night 100% of our graduating class has taken and passed dual credit of some kind even if they have not concluded an associate at this time we know that these students have built the bridge to continue their educational journey and we would like to recognize the following students on behalf of WMU who have earned dual credit Diego barosan Emma Espinosa Sophia goosa auriana Gomez Charles lato Martinez Macio KERO Julio verel and Miriam Vargas e [Music] all right we will continue now we'll be presenting the top Department Awards and these are selected by the instructors we'll begin with the science department first Miss Jessica opaka to present good morning everyone it's an honor to stand before you today as your teacher over this time I have witnessed your remarkable resilience that each one of you have take a moment to look around your at your classmates the class of 2027 among them you'll find those who have embraced challenges headon and have persevered to be here today despite the absence of a science teacher for the past two years you haven't allowed this to set you back instead you have risen to the occasion with outstanding attendance and gone the extra mile to meet the rigorous standards of honors biology if I could I would commend each of you with an award of resilience today I have the privilege of recognizing a selected group of of students who have not have who have not only shown resilience but have also shown excelled academic um excelled academically in honors biology these students have turned in all their work on time and attended lunch tutoring and have worked hard to receive this award without further Ado allow to present allow me to present the following students Lindsay Williams Leslie Gutierrez and Daniel Ortiz I will also like to present the most improved and that goes to Jose humanis [Music] spe next we will invite the history Department to come forward to present Diane zachek and Frank Alon good morning I hope you guys are doing well um I teach two different classes I teach United States history and I also teach government economics so my first awards are going to be for United States history um and this is the Lincoln Award of Excellence in United States history and it goes to a student who excels academically who consistently takes great care in their work all throughout the semester and who is willing to engage in and challenge the information during inclass discussions so this year the linking Award of Excellence in US history goes to Macio kto okay all right so my next award is also for United States history and it is the Franklin award for curiosity and growth and it goes to a student who excels academically but who also uh finds a way to balance extracurricular activities um and still keep their grades up and this student was diligent about communicating whenever he would miss a class for competitions and he rarely missed a dead so the Franklin Award of curiosity and growth in United States history goes to Manuel gutieres all right so um my final award is the volt Award of exceptional motivation and achievement for government and economics and this award symbolizes academic Excellence uh an exceptional work ethic the ability to balance extracurricular activities and academics and also who possesses really good communication skills they they always let me know when they were going to miss and then what the assignments were and they were very diligent about doing this and I had two students that were really close in this area so the Vault Award of exceptional motivation goes to an anelie Patel and him Patel spe so today I'm here to honor three students uh who have exciled academically uh in New Mexico history and this was a tough decision uh because I think I could have gave these a wordss to many of you um but I couldn't so um these three students uh worked really hard they uh turned in their work on time all the time they were always uh present always uh in class on time and so the first award uh the Zia Sun symbol award goes to Lesley cathetus the next award the rot Grant Excellence award goes to Carissa mosa and the next and last award the AL Camino Real achievement goes to Emma audo I'm [Music] our next Awards will be the math department Erica Duran and then helica Lopez will be presenting and on behalf of our pre-calculus and algebra teacher via qua good morning parents and students um as mentioned before by other teachers this is always a difficult test because we know how hard you guys work and we have a lot of amazing students that deserve these Awards but we can only pick three so I based off mine on the highest grades and a lot of you were very close um my first one goes to Excellence and honors math prep that goes to Kenya garosa my second award goes to Clarissa and and my third award for excellence and honors Algebra 1 goes to Natalie brittle [Music] [Music] I'll go ahead and announce Miss quang's Awards as well okay so the first student you picked for excellence in pre-calculus is jaavan the second award goes to Excellence in Algebra 2 goes to re Brin for most improved goes to jaavan gallosa and her most dedicated goes to kasas o h for next we invite our language arts department Jean Hayes and Christy Hayes to come forward hello this year's freshman class was awesome so many of my students are so deserving it was really hard just to pick three for their hard work perseverance and going above and beyond what was expected I would like to recognize Caitlyn compos Menda and Ashley mcginness for the ELA academic Excellence award okay I would like to honor three students who when I give out assignments instead of asking and worrying about the due date they usually are ahead and instead of cowering and worrying about the page count they wonder how far over the page count they can go so that's really tremendous they've worked um incredibly hard this year and I would like to honor for outstanding achievement in composition one joaz orti Ortiz patch for excellence in English for Kenya cardosa and for outstanding achievement in composition two with Sarah cavier e next we welcome our a department Aubrey Cardis and Dr Rachel B all right um so I'm so proud of each and every one of you you guys have done amazing I am the a a teacher for the 10th and 11th grade classes so I have a lot of students that of course deserve all of the awards but um the few I am presenting today the first is the Stellar award um these two students have done a stellar job all year long and have participated worked hard of all the amazing things all year long and so I would like to uh award it to Jaclyn Retta and Lindsay Williams the next award is the persevering award uh these two students uh worked hard all year long as well and even though they ran into some rough patches or might have um struggled with the assignments they persevered and ended the year on a high note and I'm very very proud of these two students Nicholas vetto and Jeremiah via love Avid stands for advancement via individual determination so in the senior Avid class I try to use those parameters to define the students I would choose because each one of you has shown incredible perseverance I know there have been bouts of senioritis but here we are we've made it to the end and I'm really proud of all of you the individual determination award goes to Angelie Patel academic determination iwan isek and the person most likely to lead a study group Jacqueline RZ as our students uh move up to be Juniors and seniors and are taking mostly du credit classes they work each day in Proctor study halls that are led by Tiffany Franco and Annabelle ois and so these uh two staff member get to know these students very well they support they encourage uh they twist here get them to look at their calendar turn in assignments it's just a little bit of everything and we certainly want to recognize this group of students so good morning um Mr te and I want to thank our dopr students first off like some of the teachers mentioned it's really hard to um pick just three or four students especially when we have you all and see the hard work you put into your dual credit classes every day um but for our Awards we have most improved and it goes to Hagen Reynolds we have dedicated to academics to Katarina Baka we have our help helping hand award to Isabelle cavayo and finally best character to Nicholas o [Music] e [Music] next I would like to invite Jessica abaka to come forward to present our talk good morning again everybody thank you guys um so I want to tell you a little bit about top and so top is the teen outreach program known as top and it helps empowers our student and Community engagement it is a platform that equips our team with individ invaluable tools and opportunities to Foster social emotional skills recognize healthy relationships and cultivate a deep sense of connection with our community Through talk our students have not only supported each other but have also embraced the profound significance of giving back to to their community Through community service today we are making a significant milestone in our journey our senior class at Early College High School are going to be the first recipients of teen outreach program to receive an honor court for an entire year these remarkable individuals have dedicated themselves to the principles of Tau many of them embarked on this journey in their eighth grade Year and have continued to uphold its values enriching their lives and the lives of those around them today as we honor them with a top honor cord we acknowledge their unwavering commitment and commend them for their remarkable achievements in addition to recognizing our seniors today we also celebrate the outstanding dedication and commitment of three exceptional students these students have had the best attendance in the program and have always showed up for community service so those the associate degree from Western New Mexico University these students were invited to participate in the commencement exercise at Western Mexico University last Friday and so they have been honored by the university that we wanted to have them on the stage to honor them here students many have earn over 60 plus college hours some uh theyve worked very hard and deserve our recognition please come we're very proud of you e next I will invite Dr retel Bailey and Diane Zach forward to announce the top 10 class of 2024 the top 10 graduates for the class of 20124 these students must have the top 10 cumulative GPA and a minimum of 40 college credit hours in order to walk in white for graduation and they will be given white and gold grated cord Franchesca Coloma Jus lanan Angeline Patel jaine carosa elani Patel trumman Williams lto Cavo yes Le communist and Michelle ALU oh e e okay as we begin to reach the end of our Awards we save uh some of the most significant awards for the last and these are the ECS honor Awards they're inspired by the purpose of the National Honor Society they represent the highest recognition for our students the first award is the scholarship award and I will be asking richel to come forward receiving a scholarship honor award is not necessarily about straight A these students have an intellectual curiosity that drives them to not only enjoy learning new things but to also have the persistence and integrity to apply themselves to understanding difficult Concepts through hard work they strive to become a more educated individual that is better suited to initiate positive changes in society congratulations Danielle Oris and Giovani the next award is the spirit honor award receiving a spirit honor award means these students display a willingness to be a role model and leader at ECS by being a beacon of enthusiasm and optimism these students spread joy in any environment they a member of and these days the attributes of these students are imperative congratulations Chrissy figuroa and M Moreno receiving a service honor award means these students choose to serve others and contribute to their communities their Serv is not just to satisfy a requirement for college applications but to make the world a better place these students are willing to serve those around them and their desire to positively affect the lives of others is evident congratulations seio Flores and jacn Ramirez receiving a character honor award means these students have the qualities of honesty courage and integrity honesty requires you to display fairness in all activities and situations courage involves showing honesty with confidence and resolve even in the face of optimism Integrity is Having the courage to stand by your morals despite peer pressure and competing interests character is not something that can be taught but rather something that must be modeled through example and these students model character Melissa Guero and re Bland receiving a leadership honor award means these students have the ability to positively influence those around them for good these students have a drive to change the world into something better a leader is that person everyone looks to for advice confidence and a smile there's someone who overcomes obstacles each day not for themselves but to better the lives of those around them and there is only one leadership honor award congratulations yesly communis these awards are very prestigious because as a faculty we had to agree on the students we would choose and we admire all of you so much and you all work so hard it's very hard for us to agree on students to receive these but we do have a highest honor award and that is the ECS top honor award this award encompasses all five aspects of the honor Awards these students display Spirit leadership character service and scholarship and they have a large number of WMU credit hours angelene Patel and his s loano well that's hard to believe that that's everything but we're so glad that you came out today thank you for joining us and um thank you so much for pushing and encouraging these students to achieve academically we are dismissed thank you students you will be returning to second hour
