hi guys welcome back for another video or welcome if you're here for the first time my name is Bailey and I honestly make all types of videos from traveling to Faith related to books and Kindle stuff to trying different workouts Etc so I would love for you to go ahead and subscribe if you already so you can follow along but today I'm going to be doing another Kindle video and I'm still Shook at how well my Kindle videos have done I guess like you guys just love that kind of content and everything so I'm going to be showing you guys my favorite Kindle tips and tricks I will just say up front like I don't know every single little trick and feature whatever that Kindle has to to offer but my purpose in showing you this video is just showing things that I think are actually useful not just like you know here's this just to know it but things that either I use or I could see myself using in the future I have 10 things to share with you guys today and I'm gonna be doing it on my Kindle like as I talk about what it is that I'm doing but I'll also insert like a little video here of me doing it on the Kindle so you can see what I'm doing the first thing is that you can schedule warm light so you just go to your book you swipe down from the top menu and then you click right here where it says schedule off and I'm going to click and turn it on and then you can either do automatic which Let's see we use your device's location based on Wi-Fi from 7am 7 PM so that says gradually changes with the sunset and sunrise or you could do manual depending on what you want you can also set the amount of warmth that you want it's definitely harder to see in the daylight so if you do this I would suggest you know setting it at night but this is basically the same thing as night mode on your iPhone so I really like it and I would probably do automatic rather than manual because I feel like that's just easier but this would be definitely good if you are someone who likes the warm tones and reads a lot at night the second one is Reading in landscape you're gonna go to your book and then click the top and then click the AAA go to layout and then orientation you're going to click the landscape option and then it's going to swap it and then you can swipe side to side said I just think it's neat that you can swap the orientation and maybe like this would be more comfortable if you're setting it up somewhere especially because if you read in like the gym on the treadmill or something like that which I do a lot of the time if you have it upright then a lot of times it'll just automatically like click this button it's so annoying so if you were able to do it sideways that way you don't even have to worry about that so I definitely like that feature and then to set it back you just click the AAA again layout orientation and then it'll swap it back for you so there's that and I really like that little trick the third thing is the vocabulary builder this is arguably my favorite because I just think it's so neat and I was actually shocked when I saw that you could do this so you're gonna go in your book to the top menu we're going to click the three dots and then it says vocabulary builder So based basically these are all of the words that I have looked up like if you click and hold a word it'll show you the meaning and so these are all the words I've looked up and you can click at the bottom here it says flash cards and then it'll give you flash cards of the different words and don't judge me for some of these words some of them like I really have never heard of but some of them like best is just like there is a different meaning to it but anyway sometimes I'm just like I just need to double check what the word is and there's a ton of words on here that I haven't known the meaning for so I really like that tip and it definitely is a vocabulary builder my next tip is just to keep your Kindle on airplane mode so if you have a Kindle Paperwhite you know that the battery life is absolutely amazing and it'll last you like probably up to a month it's honestly amazing but if you turn it on airplane mode so you just swipe down from the top and you click airplane mode then you are able to preserve the battery life even longer the only con to having airplane mode on is if you ever like read on your phone at all like through the Kindle app which I do a lot of the time like honestly if I am somewhere I don't have my Kindle but I just want to read for a second I'll just pull up the Kindle app on my phone then it doesn't sync to your Kindle unless you have it off of airplane mode like you have it connected to the Wi-Fi so that is the only con about having the airplane mode on but honestly you could just like turn it on for a second sync it up and then turn it back off the next tip is to set a passcode so to do this you're going to go in your book you're going to click the top and then click the three dots go to settings device options and then device passcode I'm just gonna enter let's see one two three four one two three four and then when I turn off the Kindle and turn it back on I have to enter my passcode in order to get in and then I'm going to take it off one two three four I feel like this tip would be good if you have kids or something where you don't want them to just like mess up what whatever you have on your Kindle so that'll be easy but I don't currently have a passcode on mine but I definitely like the idea that you can the next one's super simple and if you have a Kindle you probably already know about this but I'm just adding it in there anyway because I don't know why it took me so long to realize that Kindle has a dark mode but it's dark mode so you're gonna swipe down from the top on your book and then click dark mode and then basically it just like reverses all of the colors so the background is black and then the words are white and it's really easy to read especially at night of course you could just turn it all the way down but I love the dark mode at night because I feel like it's easier even easier on my eyes and I'll have it on like brightness five and the warmth will be up it's just super easy to read in the middle of the darkness the next tip is to change the font size so you can do this super easily and I actually like accidentally figured this out I was just like doing something and then I touched it wrongly or whatever I was trying to do and then the font size popped up and I was like what did I just do but I figured out that all you have to do is pinch it this way it'll go font size down and if you pinch it out this way it'll go font size up so that's just a super easy way to change the font size I mean you can also change it if you click the top and then click the AAA font and then you see the font size right there as well well but that's just like a little shortcut to be quicker and one more thing that I'm going to add in that it's not part of the tin but this is another just like really easy thing I feel like maybe you probably already know this but it also took me like a few weeks to figure out I could do this at the bottom of the screen instead of having to go and change that whatever measurement of like progress in the book you are instead of having to change that in the settings you can literally just tap on it and then it'll go from nothing page number minutes left in chapter time left in book and then location I really like that for going from seeing the time left in the chapter to the time left in the book The Eighth tip is reporting errors so if you're anything like me I feel like I really like grammar and I appreciate good grammar I don't know if anyone can relate but you can actually report if you see an error whether it's spelling grammar whatever and you can just highlight it and then you click the three dots beside it and then you do report content error so you can do typo missing text duplicate text punctuation and then if there's an image also formatting plot error factual error other so I really appreciate that and I don't know if they actually like take the suggestions into account but I like to think that they do because I don't know I just feel like it looks bad on an author if there's some poor editing the next thing and this is actually like my favorite thing about the Kindle other than like just the fact that it's not a paper book is that you can connect the Libby app to your Kindle so I've talked about this in my other Kindle videos but if you haven't heard of the Libby app it's basically like an online library and I believe it's only available in the US currently but I think that there are some other apps that might work in other countries so definitely just research that if you are from somewhere else but the Libby app allows you to enter in if you have a local library card then you can log in through your local library using like your library card and your phone number or whatever it differs library to library but you log in and then basically you're able to search for books and see if your library offers them and if they do then you are able to basically borrow the ebook from the library and you transfer it to your Kindle and then you open your Kindle and it's on there and you have it for however long that your library lets you borrow books for so these are two books that I have right now the third book in the how to I always say how to get away with murder a girl goes grad to murder series and then the house across the lake I also have Book Lovers checked out so you basically just click read with Kindle it takes you to this page and I already clicked deliver to Kindle but that's where it would have been right there it says it's already claimed and I just love it so much it's so convenient and it also saves money and obviously that's like the main reason why I love it is because it saves so much money you don't have to buy every book so definitely look into Libby if you have a Kindle in the US and definitely look into some other apps if you are not in the US this last tip is for you if you have a Kindle that has ads on it so like my Kindle just naturally has ads on it and then they are like personalized but I don't really care about them like I don't want personalized recommended ads I honestly feel like the entire idea behind this is ridiculous like of course Amazon we want to try to make more money any way that they can but we are going to I'm like actually going to get my laptop and like try to ask them to take the ads off because a lot of people commented on my past Kindle videos and said that you can basically just ask nicely and a lot of times they'll take the ads off for you so I'm going to do this and show you guys like what I say and how the conversation goes in case you are having the same problem and you just want to know basically exactly what to say so I'm gonna grab my laptop and we're going to try to get them to take the ads off shoot I was trying to show it before it restarted it says special offers have been removed from your Kindle so we were able to do it I'm going to show you guys how it has literally been like five minutes like it took no time so I just went to the customer service tab on amazon.com scroll down and then click in the middle that says you can hopefully take care of most things here connect with us when needed so I clicked the option that says Kindle Fire Alexa or other Amazon devices and then I clicked my Kindle e-reader then I clicked Kindle eBooks digital content comics and then I did General question I did I need more help and then it takes you to another page and you start chatting and basically all I said was that I received my Kindle as a gift which is true I received it for Christmas so I didn't have the option to pay the extra for having no ads and I also said that a lot of the ads I get are inappropriate which is true like the cover of the books is what can be inappropriate a lot of times and it's just like uncomfortable and I just put my Kindle upside down a lot of the times because I'm just like I don't want to see that like most of the time it's like shirtless guys and stuff and I just don't want to see that and so I said that a lot of the ads are inappropriate and I was just wondering if there was a way for you to take them off and they said is it this Kindle and they said Bailey's Kindle and I said yes and then he said ads have been removed is there anything else I can help you with today so super easy and I think like you actually can opt to pay like twenty dollars extra to to take the ads off but definitely just do it this way if you want to get your ads removed because it's just ridiculous to have to pay so now let's see what it looks like I think there is a way for you to set the book that you're currently reading as your home screen and that's kind of what I wanted to be able to do so I just looked up how to do it we're going to go to settings and then we're going to go to device options and then display cover and it says show the cover of what you're currently reading on the lock screen so then let's go off and then cute we have Book Lovers by Emily Henry is what I'm currently reading currently reading way too many books but that's one of them and that is just so much better so cute so if you are also someone who got the ad version of the Kindle hopefully this is helpful and you'll be able to get them all for free as well but that is all of my tips and tricks for today I hope that this is helpful for you if you have a Kindle and if you are thinking about getting a Kindle you should absolutely get one I love mine so much I will never ever go back to paperback books I honestly don't really like them very much or never really did just because it was always inconvenient I feel like I love reading in bed or just like random places if I'm waiting in line somewhere or something like that where you can't really bring a full book I just love the Kindle and you can lay on your side and you can read it in bed and it's just so great so I will link below my other two Kim videos in case you're interested one is just the unboxing and then the other one is like my one month review like is it worth it really honest and I tried to be comprehensive so anyway but I hope this video is helpful go ahead and subscribe if you haven't already and I'm so appreciative of you being here and watching hope that you are well and I can't wait to see you guys next time bye
