B his first day as a doorman the protagonist gets an introduction video to prepare him for his job which he doesn't know much about the video demonstrates the organization the protagonist is to work for is known as the doubleganger detection department or DDD for short the year is 1955 and the world as we know it has become plagued by strange monstrous entities who are capable of shapeshifting and deceiving people into believing that they are humans which they use as a technique to trick people fall into eating them this problem has become so severe that each building seems to be hiring and training doormen with protective glass and a safe room where they can inspect each person for entering the building to ensure that they are not a doubleganger living amongst these entities for so long the double gangers have managed to Perfect The Art of impersonation to look exactly like humans yet many of them still struggle to cover up all their imperfections and do a bad job at shapeshifting the role of a doorman is of utmost necessity as if any doubleganger manages to enter the building they will cause havoc and kill and eat as many people as they can including the doorman the office of the doorman is designed with high security however if anyone gets inside the building it is easily breach without much difficulty the doorman has to examine each person carefully through their looks they also can examine their papers and check against their resident list they can also call up each apartment and in case of spotting a double ganger they can call Triple D to request a safe removal of the doubleganger finally the introduction video congratulates the employee of the month called Henry who is described as not a very bright and good doorman but the only one who managed to survive considering almost everyone lost their lives so this could explain Henry possibly made many mistakes and mistook many residents with double gangers requesting their removal as we see later on the extraction of each double ganger is performed by professionals wearing kmat suits which would mean exposures to double gangers even if not eaten or harmed could be dangerous therefore whoever Henry the doorman mistook as double gangers could have potentially lost their lives as they would be exposed to contaminated suits and rooms that's why they say Henry wasn't a good doorman but the only one that survived depicting how dangerous this job truly is as the protagonist whom I will name ason noncanonically enters his new office he is welcomed by a member of DDD in heavy Hazmat gear giving him the list of Entry request by the residents he explains these residents have already requested re-entry to the building and should check out but there are times where individuals have not requested every entry which might be due to emergency or other reasons regardless ason should check their IDs and entry requests deciding whether they are double gangers or real people as soon as the member of DDD leaves the first individual appears called Seline Seline has wobbly eyes and is on the entry list but her eyes look completely different on her ID and entry request form otherwise everything else checks out when questioned to why her eyes look as such she simply acts defensive and mentions that they are normal human eyes emphasizing on the word human which is a dead giveaway that she is not a human being someone trying to compensate for her less than perfect impersonation and shape-shifting skills that's when ason dials triple D raising this as an emergency when the members of Triple D promptly arrive and remove this impostor raising this as an emergency barricades the security window for protection depicting how wellmade the office is in order to protect the doorman however as a double gangers are very good at shape-shifting all but one doorman could ever survive their sh examining many individuals throughout the day Aslam suddenly comes across a resident who happens to not be on the entry list despite everything else checking out as ason questions this individual about this the horrifying Shape Shifter breaks character revealing her true scary nature in anger and defeat knowing she's moments before being disposed of saying how triple D will never be able to fully get rid of them in an eerie manner explaining it is too late for Humanity shivering again in fear aslon raises this as an emergency and dials for triple D when they quickly arrive and clear the scene as if this encounter never happened ason still shaking to himself trying to recollect himself can't get the idea out of his headit to what a close encounter he just had and how important his cross-examination is as one little error could lead to the death of everyone within the building including himself the last words of the Imposter Echo within his head on how the double gangers will eventually achieve their goal which leaves ason wondering what that goal is and what sort of Devastation this would cause it seems as if the end goal of the double gangers is the complete domination of Earth and Humanity taking over this would mean they are an extraterrestrial race or in simpler words aliens who have landed on this alternate version of Earth wanting to dominate Humanity enslaving them and quite possibly farming them so they can have a sustainable food source this goes on for a while with every second feeling like ours when ason gets to meet the very first doubleganger with horrible disfigurement and bad shape shifting skills The Shape Shifter has worms borrowing inside his face creating a ghastly image not letting Asen get that image out of his head ever questioning the double ganger about the worms on his face he simply dismisses it as pimples depicting how bad at lying many of these double gangers are after examining several neighbors and individuals the day suddenly comes to an end leaving ason relieved and happy that's when triple D provides ason with an end of shift report revealing that he did really good and that he managed to actually survive stopping all the double gangers from going in but his judgment was less than perfect as he accidentally mistook a neighbor with a double ganger which had ended with the tenant dying something the members of Triple D managed to confirm in an autopsy after they wrongly fully contaminated the neighbor and killed him this understandably leaves ason traumatized feeling immense guilt yet realizing the importance of his job willing to be better and never letting one single soul lose their life ever again that being whether letting double gangers end by mistake or sending actual humans to Triple D ending up with their lives taken throughout his day ason will meet many strange and scary looking double gangers who all have stranger excuses for their deformities and Oddities which are not reasonable for example when questioning why some mons have extra eyes they would simply answer it's normal to have extra eyes or it is to see better some other would say that they have a different haircut or that they feel unwell or sick while having monstrous deformities in this horrifying alternate World double gangers seem to be a real problem and are proving to to be slowly taking over as it seems triple D is desperate to find an end dorant to examine the individuals appearing at the doors of each building that is why they hired someone with barely any prior training or experience only providing him with an introduction video which in a way depicts that they have a shortage of training staff at dmen with almost all dying so it seems to be a losing battle which is only delaying the inevitable the double gangers are very capable and easily can consume humans which requires barricaded and reinforced door to stop them so the question is how do people go on their normal routine lives working and shopping and traveling without encountering these monsters or at least overcoming them and surviving them this
