what up everyone and welcome back to the channel we are making our triumphant return into the spoof genre we are watching Not Another Teen Movie I'm kind of nervous to watch this one because I am under the assumption that it is very very runchy and I mean if you've been following our channel for a while I keep saying I don't really like overly runchy stuff and we've literally been watching a lot of it so don't look at me like it's my fault yeah we blame y'all y'all are the one who are commenting you're requesting it so this movie I saw when I was younger I don't remember it too too vividly but I do know that it's obviously a spoof film and it's actually spoofing Rony comedies it itself also being a ronchi comedy and I know that they reference at least American Pie not She's the Man what's that other one with predy Prince there we go that's right she's all that Varsity Blues which me and Casey were actually just having a conversation about Varsity Blues she actually saw that one but when she was younger why I saw it because in Bean girls there there's like I don't I don't remember who says it but somebody says Varsity Blues is Regina George's favorite movie and so I watched it but honestly I don't really remember it that much I remember like certain bits of it but like not the entire thing I remember the opening scene vly so I think the she's all that is one cuz you know a lot of these spoof movies usually have a movie that they typically follow and then there's like subtle jokes and references like scary movie the first scary movie like it was scream but then there was also other things that they spoofed as well along the way Scary Movie 3 was like Signs and the ring um haunted house was obviously Paranormal Activity part two was more Conjuring so there's usually a specific movie that we're kind of following and then like little jokes along the way so I'm assuming just because I don't remember as much that this movie is going to be just like said before jumping into this but it's been so many years obviously I'm just going to say there's a lot of gratuitous stuff in here but this movie had its moments where it was absolutely freaking hilarious I think one of the moments that I think that was one of the funniest was like when they were doing the bring it on when they stole their skit and what they were saying that was pretty funny I completely forgot how messed up uh Chris Evans family was and what was going on with that Dynamic but overall I mean you know because they were playing it up as a joke in my opinion I thought it was pretty funny so like even in those moments the the thing with the Chris Evans Varsity Blues with like the banana split and then also moments like this with like a completely naked girl is typically a little over the top but the way they played into it especially at the party like she's wearing my exact same outfit was so freaking funny the thing that worked really well in this movie is that it was like so such an obvious parody like the things that they were making fun of you could see like exactly what they were doing and it was hilarious like you know like the like random like naked girl type scenes that you sometimes see in like teen movies which you really wouldn't associate that with teen movies but like they used to do that a lot like stuff like that and like you could see like where they were making fun of it yeah I was I mean there was definitely a lot of runchy elements but in this scenario like you could see what the the movie was like portraying and I was making fun of it worked really well for this one it was funny also I said it during this movie but seeing where Chris Evans came from because I feel like modern days 2024 Chris Evans is probably the biggest name in this movie that's still this is going to sound rude but relevant to this day he's Captain America that's America's ass and you know in this movie having started off here I think it's really funny to see where he got to because okay he just started off in like a spoof comedy film and then he ended up becoming Captain freaking America I don't know if this was the first thing but this is the first thing that I remember him from I remember him here in this movie he was also in a movie that I'm spacing on the name ironically enough he was in it with Scarlett Johansson and they both played high schoolers the premise of the movie was to steal the answers for the SATs I really liked the Cameo of Molly Ringwald too because they made a ton of references to like her era of movies as well like I mean especially the John Hughes era but like a lot of 80s teen comedies which obviously those comedies like even though they were slightly edgier which I guess like I think they were most of them were rated R yeah but like they were a lot different though than a lot of the 2000s type of EDG like it was like a little bit different of a I mean I feel like um what's that one the John Hughes the Weird Science probably is the most I mean that was a grown ass woman boys the most but I I just feel like the way it was presented not like that movie in particular but just like those movies in general like the edginess was presented in a slightly different way than like teen movies of the early 2000s I think a lot of that could be chocked up to be what was accepted at the time the 2000s oh my gosh they just had a free-for-all like hey let's just throw everything at the wall and see what stick some of them hit some of them were gratuitous but the ones that hit you know are very memorable in a lot of people's minds and I'm saying like 40-Year-Old Virgin I'm talking about like super bad even though super bad if you go back and rewatch it it's not as runchy as you might remember but I mean obviously you know what like the kids goals are which a lot of these like runchy coming of age stories is typically about kids trying to have sex with girls you know I feel like that's like a big Trope and honestly there's a lot of 8s movies like that too You' never seen it but Revenge of the Nerds is like that as well all right y'all well if you have any other comedy recommendations for us
