in this tutorial I'll show you how to create text fade in and out animation in After Effects let's get to it here we are in After Effects I've already created a 30 frames per second composition now I'm going to select the type tool click and type something for the font I'm using montserrat black with a font size of 200 pixels in all caps now I'm going to align the text to the center of the composition after that I'm going to switch back to the selection tool then open the properties of the text then click the animate button and select opacity then I'm going to set opacity to zero percent open range selector 1 and make sure you are at the start of the timeline then set offset to -100 and create a keyframe by clicking on the stopwatch then go with second or two forward I'll do one second and set offset to positive 100 after that open advanced settings and set shape to be ramp up and then set ease high and ease low both to 50 and this will give us a simple fade in from left to right and as for the fade out it works in the exact same way with one key difference so let me show you how to do that first I'm going to close down the animator 1 settings select it so it's highlighted and press Ctrl D to duplicate it so now we have animator 1 and animator 2. I'm going to open animator 2 settings then go into the range selector 1 and here we'll see the exact same keyframes for the offset and I'm going to select these keyframes and move them forward to say two seconds then I'm going to open advanced settings and set shape to a ramp down and now we'll have the fade in at the start then the text will be visible for some time and this time is based on the distance between the end keyframe of the animator 1 and the start keyframe of the animator 2 so if you want the text to be visible for longer you can move these keyframes forward or for the shorter period you can move them closer together and after the text is visible once we reach 2 seconds the text will start fading out in the exact same way so this is how it looks and since this whole animation is contained in one single text layer we can easily duplicate it change the text and stack multiple lines of text together so again let me show you how to do that first I'm going to select the text go up to edit duplicate or press Ctrl d as the shortcut so now we have two text layers and then let's go to the end of the animation we can still see a part of the text that it's on its way to fading out so I'm going to move the second text layer that way duplicate it to this point so it starts from here then I'm going to double click on it and change it with something else say text reveal and now as the first line of text animates out the second line of text Will animate in and this way you can duplicate and stack as many text lines as you want so that is how you create a fading and out text animation super easy thanks for watching
