well good evening everybody Welcome in the kitchen with Tally Fay hope everybody had a good day today it's been a beautiful day here been all rainy and cloudy and we've had lots of thunder and stuff and everything you know just been one of them overcast days like that where you just you kind of got to push yourself not to be lazy in it right but it feels good to me so anyway it's been a wonderful blessed day and uh we're getting it together in here I'm fixing to get this supper on and going so tonight y'all have y'all ever heard of the uh the red rice or like the Charleston red rice and that kind of stuff that on that order of that dish well tonight we're going to make the Texas red rice okay it's on the same version as that other it just got a little bit of Texas flare to it so we going to put the Tay thing in it right so let's get to work on this it's really easy it's a it's a good dish to feed your family or even company especially if you figure out what sides and stuff you want to have with I'm going to show yall what I'm working on for the sides to go with this tonight I'll show you the whole plate when I get through it after a while or something maybe if I remember to do that but let's do this y'all let's make some Texas red rice all right okay let me get it down here I got my Skillet uhoh is it down let there we go there we go all right I'm fixing the get my Skillet get hot cuz the first thing I want to do y'all is I've got sliced up in here the link sausage and now this is the amount for Buzz and I you can double this recipe and do it in a 9 by3 pan because we're going to have when we get everything done in this Skillet we're going to put it in this baking dish and put it in the oven okay but anyway for Buzz and I and which this is going to make more than we can eat even but this is uh what what was it 1 2 3 4 about four and 1 half five of the little short lengths the little 6 inch lengths of sausage and y'all these are the ones I Get These Are Slavic and I love them and they're the they're the plain ones okay I like to do that that way I can do them anything with them right but anyway I got about three uh uh what did I say four and a half of them sliced up in the little circles okay let me give me some oil I'm going to just spray it okay let's just spray it give it a good spray you can just put you some oil in there if you want to though you know just dump you a little whatever have a little oil in your Skillet we're going to get these sausage cooking in here and while they're cooking we're going to go ahead I got a nice a medium siiz onion here for this amount of recipe that I'm doing I'm just going to take it and just cut it up in there ain't got to be no perfect whatever yall know ain't all about that right we're going to get this onion sautéing in here with these while this sausage is cooking this sausage is already done it's smoked and ready to eat but I want to get me some I want to cook some of that fat out of it in here and get a little bit of crispy edges on my sausage bxs okay so while we're doing that we can cut this onion up in here oh I don't I want that outside edge on it get it all cut up I guess everybody had a wonderful Mother's Day I sure got a lot of loves from everybody appreciate all of that okay now y'all I got me a big one of them big this is a store bought one one of them big store bought jalapenos I got it washed off and I'm pondering on whether I want to put the seeds in there or not I tell you what I'm going to do I'm going to take it out a half of one of them okay that way I got I got one of them like that but I'm going to cut this jalapeno up in there and let it be cooking with that onion just just like the onion is that'll be good in there on it right if you don't want jalapeno you can use bell pepper you can use that but this is Texas red rice y'all that's what we doing with it we're going to put us some jalapeno in there let that sauté up in there that's already good right there ain't it I can take that right there after it cooks and just get me a tortilla and wrap it up in a tortilla and eat it y'all sausage and peppers and onions absolutely now while this is cooking I want to tell y'all I've got in this bowl here you have to have your rice cooked already okay and so like I say for this amount that I'm making this is about three 3 and 1/2 cups of cooked white rice now you want the white rice with it so and this is just I cooked it and got it sitting over here out of the way ready to ready to go but you have to have your rice cooked first that's important but I got about 3 and 1/2 cups of rice what I say I got about 4 and 1/2 of a little 6 in sausage links I've got uh one medium onion and one large uh jalapeno cut up in here that's where we're at on it right now so let's get this brown up and everything and I'll come back and we'll finish it up from there now I'm going to take me just a little bit of my bacon grease y'all know I love this bacon up when I can get it I don't get it all the time but oh it's so nice I just love it anyway I'm going to take me a little old spoon of it and add me a little bacon grease in there just for some more of that flavoring okay all right so there we have it I've got my I'm going to turn that off see I've got it nice and brown on the edges and stuff those halap those jalapenos are making me cough y'all oh my goodness making me cough making my nose run you reckon they going to be good in there going to give it some hot add a little bit of pop to it okay I'm going to go ahead and take this rice and dump it in here I going to do it a little bit at a time so I don't oh my goodness let's get some of it stirred up in here that way that rice is going to soak up a bunch of that all that goodie in the bottom the bacon grease flavors and the all of that okay now dang oh oh it's getting to me all right a little bit more [Music] there y'all think that's looking good wait till I put the other in it okay now I'm going to put the rest of that in there so far I hadn't made a Talay mes and y'all can tell by this Skillet full that that's very possible right okay get this stirred in there just a little bit I see some pieces of rice flying y'all all right that's good enough on that now all right let's get us some salt let's salt it down a little bit of salt a little bit of black pepper all right and now I've got one of these it's a 10 o this is a 10 oz can anyway one of these cans of the uh rotail Tomatoes This is the HB brand but it's the Rotel tomatoes I call it right just take them juice and all and put in there and now I've got what is that a 8 O can of tomato sauce here we're going to take it get it in there okay now I got to get it all stirred up good we're going to Stir It Up all right I got it stirred up pretty good the last thing I want to add in here is a is some paprika so you just put however much you want to in there really we're going to get that stirred up in here and then we're going to take it up in our bakon dish all right I got it stirred up in there let me just going take it like this y'all I got to do this hand this hand with it I can't do the other hand so hold on let me get it in here y'all see how much this is making I mean it goes a long way so like I say if you got you know uh a big table of company all oh look at it I spilled it I poured water on my anyway there's my tay mess without a doubt right okay all right here we go we're going to take it the oven is preheated at 350 y'all I'm going to just take it and put in there and just let it sit in there and cook up like this I mean everything's done but it's you put put it in the oven and let it just finish coming together like really there we go I'm going to do it just like that y'all look at it up close there it is now one thing they like to do is put um sprinkle when you're mixing it up in the pan is is putting uh I went blank oh like Tabasco sauce or uh Louisiana hot sauce something Shake It Off in there but I'd rather we did that on our plates right you know and some people add to this a can of tomato paste along with the tomato sauce but I'm I don't I'm not doing that this is that's got enough tomato in it for me with a can of Rotel and a can of sauce right so we're going to put in the oven at 350 I don't know 30 minutes I'm just going to put it in there and finish up the rest of my supper and we'll build us a plate and show it to y'all Texas red rice y'all I forgot to tell y'all I'm going to put the lid on it okay so cover it all right y'all I got it out of the oven got our plates almost built here we're going to just yeah keep it covered in there I'm I'm glad I covered it I I forgot to tell y'all that so let me get the hot pot holder over here yall there it is okay just take it I've got Buzz his stuff all on his plate ready just get you a big old pile of it up out of there I tell you what this will feed a family y'all and this oh it smells really good too it's smelling good look at it on there getting some of them sausage bites do it kind of like that look working on the plate there the last thing I got to do y'all is add some of this uh I'm going just put him some on the side over here but I got that's the last of one of the first quarts of that uh relish y'all that's how good that stuff is it is so crunchy and fresh it just goes delicious with these peas and stuff if I can make that work right okay there it is tonight in tally F's kitchen there's our Texas red rice corn on the cob purple hole peas with ham cornbread and some Garden relish that's what we going to be eating tonight y'all would you feed that to your family I would we're going to enjoy it uh I want y'all to try this it's really easy it's really good easy to make I mean and don't cost nothing neither very coste efficient for that so you can put anything in you want really but this is the tayway with the Texas red rice that's what we going to what we going to call it is the Texas red rice okay it's just red rice but it's going to be the Texas one that's how we working it so I love y'all y'all make this dish let me know and I'd like to know what you think you might like to serve on the side with it the one thing I thought of later on was I thought might be good with it with that peas and that rice and sausage and stuff would be some fried Oaky what do you think that would have been the other thing I would have went for but we can't turn down Buzz's homegrown corn right there y'all that is some good good stuff so there it is one more time look at it
