what is up guys um today i'm going to be talking to you about taking care of your tesla's battery and what's like the recommended way that tesla is has stated on their website about how to take care of your battery so before we get into it if you like my content please like and subscribe and leave a comment below and i'm doing a 50 amazon gift card giveaway for christmas so if you're interested in entering the giveaway all you have to do is subscribe and leave a comment so first up i'm going to talk about the charging habits so here you can see that my car is almost completely charged and i'm charging it at home so you can see like the max amps is 24 amps and it charges at about 36 37 kilometers an hour from a dryer outlet which is basically the same as like a 1430 nema adapter it's the same concept it's just a higher voltage uh plug point in your house that you can use to charge your car instead of a 110 volts it charges a little faster but the whole point of this is that you should use low voltage charging such as the one that i just stated nema 1430 um this will help your car like have a better battery life as it ages uh lower voltage charging is recommended for daily use if you're like if you're just doing your daily errands is just working back it's fine to use this super charging should only be used for the purposes of road trips because it's fast charging and as you know you're trying to like push more power into your battery in a smaller amount of time um so if you constantly keep doing this it will reduce your battery life faster and also i would recommend using the app instead of this to set your limit because if you scroll here you can see like it's not showing me what what this means what this line means like how many kilometers is this how many kilometers is that so if you go in the app like i'm gonna show you now you can see that if i swipe uh the bar for the charging level that i wanted to stop at you can see how many uh kilometers or miles that it's going to charge to it's recommended that you charge to up to 90 uh for daily use and then anything over that should be for like long road trips and stuff like that and for the minimum on the other side you should leave your battery charge with about 20 percent so like if you're if you're commuting from home to work or running errands this is a lot easier because you highly likely won't drop from 90 straight to 20 but in my case um i kind of make sure of that because i travel about 200 kilometers to and from work and i leave the car in the parking lot outside in the cold as well so i kind of make sure that i get home with at least 20 so that my battery life is a little bit better and my battery lasts a little bit longer right so another tip is keep your acceleration and chill during winter time because um you probably don't want to slip and also chill will help with uh giving you a better battery range per cycle and regen always i always leave it to standard this is the best option because you generate the most amount of electricity that the motors can get back when you let go of the accelerator and when it's slowing down so that's another way to get more out of one charge when you're driving also another tip is leave your car plugged in even though it's like charged the limit that you set it at this is because specifically here in winter months is your battery will stay warm and the computer on board will make sure it doesn't overcharge your battery and it'll only use it to keep the batteries warm and you want this because let's just say you want to go somewhere you can you just need to maybe pre-condition for like five minutes and you can go but if it's not plugged in your pre-conditioning will be a little bit longer and the battery will take longer time to heat up and as you can imagine while you drive while the battery is heating up you're losing more range because first of all you're trying to use a battery to drive while it's cold and it's trying to heat itself up so it can perform better so that's the reason why you should leave it plugged in and it's also stated on tesla's website that you should leave it plugged in so the battery can stay warm another tip is you probably want to leave your uh heating or cooling to the lowest setting possible depending on the temperature outside i always leave mine to 21 and i leave this to one and i use my heated seats from time to time it's also stated that you probably want to use your heated seats um to keep you warm in the winter instead of using the heater at blast because this apparently this uses less energy i also wanted to point out in terms of efficiency and like just talking about how to take care of your battery one other pointer is you should probably have your tires um filled to the stated psi so most likely for the 20 inch wheels that i have it's about 40 42 psi that the tire should be filled to so try to maintain that so you get better range and of course if you want more comfort more softer ride quality then you can have it at about 38 psi so that way you have a better ride quality but your efficiency won't be that great speaking of efficiency the 20 inch aero wheel i mean the 20 inch wheels here um these wheels uh decrease your range because they're bigger and they're not as aerodynamic so that's another hit that i'm taking um on my battery range basically on day-to-day basis so if you have the 19-inch wheels you probably will get a lot better range than me by at least 15 to 20 kilometers in my opinion so let me know like what you're getting if you have the 19-inch wheels and if you have the 20-inch wheels as well so that way we can like in the comments we can see like is there a big difference between the two uh two rim sizes or not so guys if you like my content please like and subscribe and i'm also doing a 50 amazon gift card giveaway for christmas so um i'm going to decide the winner by december 20th it's completely random basically all you have to do to enter the draw is uh comment on this video and please subscribe to my channel and i will randomly select a person thanks for watching
