TERROR TRAIN: Thomas the Tank Engine Mods

mods since the dawn of time players have taken their video games and asked the question yeah but how can i make it more stunning more fun and of course more weird 1993's doom kicked off the mainstream mass modding scene and it's been growing ever since mods provide new experiences for gamers like you and i and new jobs for those who take it seriously when the studio that owns a game takes the mod community seriously it's a win-win situation for the developers and consumers my favorite thing about mods is that there are no rules one of my favorite mods involved being able to change your gamertag to whatever you like during the modern warfare 2 days some say it voided the warranty on my xbox 360 but i say it was hilarious to have the name bbc because whenever i killed someone in a match they had to read that they were killed by big players we've even scratched the surface of modding here at x-play where frost has highlighted the top 5 cyberpunk mods and my video on the 10 best sifu mods number 8 might surprise you look mods make games great they make games fun and they make games do this [Music] throughout my research and my personal searches i started to pick up on a weird trend a recurring mod that was available for games ranging from super smash bros and skyrim to resident evil and even kingdom hearts 3. was it a mod for unlimited health or maybe a mod for enhanced graphics it was something even more ungodly and terrifying it was thomas the tank like some kind of pixel parasite modders have helped this really useful engine really worm his way into countless titles that's right internet i'm your conductor today and we're traveling down the modded tracks and uncovering the true nature and the horror of thomas the tank engine mods okay so first things first what the hell is a thomas the tanking thomas the tank engine was a character that first debuted in the 1940s british railway series book but it wasn't until 1984 they received his horrifying on-screen debut thomas the tank engine and friends aka shiny time station in the us gave us sentient stop-motion trains participating in such whimsical stories such as being buried alive being kidnapped and being scrapped aka train homicide and to make it even wilder the original series conductor slash narrator was first played by ringo starr and then in the u.s who was set to carry the role of the children's show why george carlin of course okay honestly our x-play producers could keep diving into the unsettling adventures of tom's tank engine but we're here to talk about video games video games that feature terrifying trains with their soulless big old eyes speaking of games it's hard to tell when the first thomas mod was created and used but we do know when it skyrocketed in popularity thanks to a little game called skyrim yes back in 2013 kevin brooke aka train whiz released his masterpiece onto the world a mod that replaced the detailed dragons of skyrim with these smiling lumbering trains from the isle of sodor these mechanical nightmares programmed to the dragon's animation pattern would simply descend from the sky releasing fire from their sealed mouse and of course had the dragon shout replaced by the signature train whistle trust me hearing an ominous train whistle while in the open plains of skyrim is much more horrifying than a basic dragon roar after the mod was released brock released a youtube video showcasing the mod in action the video caught fire literally as it was quickly taken down but inspired thousands to flood nexus mods and download the mod for themselves as of now the really useful dragons mod has over 73 000 downloads but brock wasn't done no in 2016 he created another bethesda train mod thomas in fallout 4. that's right brock thought to himself you know what this bostonian dystopian needs thomas has mini nukes and missiles thomas as vertibird and of course thomas as a deathclaw but if you're trying to find that mod on nexus good luck unfortunately there's one thing that's scarier than soulless smiling trains and that's copyright law our lawyers told us to say that by the way mattel the owners of the thomas tank engine license legally came after brock skyrim mod on youtube because according to the face.com he diminished the brand of thomas by showing him blowing up nothing about him violently murdering people thankfully youtube kept the second skyrim video up in cited parody law but that didn't keep mattel off of brock's back brock later stated mattel pretty much wanted me dead at this point it's the reason why the fallout 4 mod couldn't be found on any normal website while brock has gone on to work on his small developer studio pasta space interactive his creative spark would launch a thousand thomas's into virtual worlds everywhere thomas became synonymous with the mods his big lumbering frame childlike colors and unsettling phase made him especially perfect for horror games and characters not even mass effect one of my favorite games of all times was spared from the thomas nightmare you thought the regular reapers were bad well get ready for railroad reapers saren's feral climbing has nothing on thomas destroying the milky way i pray our ai overlords are not really useful engines i feel bad for all the developers artists writers and programmers who put so much effort into creating these terrifying npcs villains and creatures in these games only for them to reach their true horror level when they became an unblinking smiling blue british train and this once meme now monstrous mod has gained such popularity that it inspired its own individual horror game titled choo choo charles y'all don't pay me enough to look at this some folks may think that's scary not me i have real fears like snakes and commitment but i can't say that for everyone um hi my name is and i am terrified of trains specifically thomas the tank engine i know that there are other real fears out there flying snakes ezra miller death but for me thomas is a real fear it all started a few years back when i was playing the resident evil 2 remake one of my friends installed the thomas mrx mod without telling me and when that thing appeared chugging down the hallway i just remember screaming and feeling lightheaded uh when i woke up my friends told me i had not only broken my keyboard out of fear but i had also myself it was the worst day of my life all i can think about is boring a train it becoming sentient and then taking us all down with a damn smile on his face we don't know what they're capable of hopefully by sharing my fear anonymously it will encourage others who have the same fear to not feel so alone and hey emily producer for x-play in los angeles california i didn't mean to bother you but for the port report due to be credited as emily rose jacobson or just emily rose um i think the second one's fine joe since our producer can't look at the mods it's up to me the resident shooter guy star wars guy and now thomas the mod guy to rate the unsettling horror factor of these thomas mods and just for kicks we'll be rating these thomas mods on a one to five scale of scared sesslers thomas the tank engine mtt mod for star wars battlefront 2. it's definitely unsettling to see his big dumb train face so blown up but thanks to the daylight and slow movement it's not as scary as it could be two out of five scared zestlers thomas the tank engine over mr x and resident evil 2. okay this one is actually pretty scary if mr x is getting stale for you definitely switch it up with this train powered by nightmares four out of five scared sesslers thomas the eater of elder dragons in monster hunter world now he's not as big as we've seen him as other beast mods but the speed at which he whips around his bumper block is the most horrifying aspect i think there's a three out of five scared sesslers tom cous sand engine in dragon ball z ten kai ichi three okay the producers clearly put this one in there because they knew it would hurt me personally i get it black okay i'm supposed to be the anime guy whatever why i gotta do that to my man goku this isn't even scary it's just a crime against humanity two out of five scared sussers thomas the tank engine over nemesis in resident evil 3. i'm just going to say it putting thomas in a resident evil game is pure horror while nemesis thomas doesn't walk slowly like mr x thomas the way he whips his train ass and force chokes jill valentine is horrifying enough i'm gonna give this one a three scared sesslers out of five s'mores thomas the train in kingdom hearts three a train replacing the twilight town tram not scary right wrong they gave him those awful glowing eyes that make him look even more possessed this train is truly heartless i'm giving it a three out of five scared sisters thomas the snake engine and sakuro's shadows die twice okay this thing is nasty if you thought the normal snake was bad think again here's a big ass train peeking his levitating body out waiting to send you to the scrap pile four out of five scared sesslers thomas the tank engine vehicle mod for cyberpunk 2077 with this mod the shoe is on the other cybernetic foot now i'm the trained terror bulldozing these streets of night city one out of five scared zestlers thomas esmedir and dark souls 3 this thomas is just nasty for some reason this mod maps him in a way that makes him almost gelatinous as he kicks your ass dark souls style oh and he also shoots flames out from under his chin yeah that's just unhinged four out of five scared settlers thomas the tank engine as lady demechus oh god what the actual no no this is all wrong all the scared settlers and you know what y'all don't pay me enough to do this this this broke my spirit i don't get paid enough i'm overworked over here i've been in like five of the last five videos here on x-play and y'all got me this this is spooky check out the rest of the
