Terrified Shelter Dog Is A Different Pup In Her Foster Home | The Dodo Foster Diaries

from the moment she got here she went immediately to the corner she came to us because she was dumped on someone's property I sat there for 30 minutes just waiting for her to walk up to me and it didn't happen wanted her to come out on her own but she just was not going to do that so we had to go in there and pick her up once we got her out into that hallway she powers in that corner by the brooms and that's when I was able to actually pet her for the first time yeah that night I posted on the Foster page the shelter environment is already proving to be too much she could really use the comfort of a foster home one of our Fosters commented [Music] when I first got there Maddie greeted me and she was like hyper is very skittish and I was like well we're going to do our best he was just pancaked to the floor one of the shelter workers actually had to go and get her out of the kennel we put her on the ground with the hopes that she would actually walk out and she did so very reluctantly we get to the final door to actually get out of the shelter terrified her to the point where she backed herself in the corner it's okay it's okay we finally got her it's like a scooter around the door and get out of the shelter and then immediately of course she's looking for anywhere that she can go to hide and so she found that little cat carrier and I just said to her you're gonna find out that I'm not your enemy here and that I'm going to be one of your best friends when we got her home she darted in the bathroom the way that we actually got her to come out was we let our other dogs in good girl Piper she would actually stand up and wag her tail we're like oh my goodness she was just a completely different dog it took literally an hour after her being here for her to just kind of start her transformation [Music] [Music] but then when we would get too close you'd write back down sounds like all right let's see if he'll take it from my hand I built that trust with her after that first month we really got a good idea of what kind of loving dog Piper was she started to learn that oh there's freedom and there's love and oh there's regular meals she came up on the couch and all of a sudden bellied up and showed me the belly and I'm like oh that really means she trusts me are you crazy is paper crazy for the belly rubs or what is [Laughter] I'll catch her on the dog couch just laid out I'm like you got to be kidding me what are you doing Piper Courtney turned to me and said I think I want to adopt this one and like all right I'm all in baby we absolutely love her we are learning from her just like she's learning from us hi baby you want that [Music] [Music]
