mentioned they dominated tennessee in their last match-up and it's been a roller coaster ride for the volunteers like they're at dollywood or something they've won one and last one alternating over their last six florida in the road black they win the tip tyree appleby will start the game at point and scottie lewis will slide into the starting five for florida immediately going to castleton and he dumps it off for deruji who's challenged by fulkerson on his senior day goodreads tennessee's starting five including those two seniors folkerson and pons part of two ncaa tournament teams and now this will be their third part of a squad that went to the number one overall national ranking in 2018. here's vascovi with the ball fake and he rolls one home so what is florida doing defensively to fulkerson to start this game they came hot they've called fire they double the ball out of halkerson's hands he finds the back side of the play a florida team coming off of a disappointing last-second loss to missouri after a win against kentucky [Applause] drew smith at the game winner for the tigers with less than a second on the clock to give mizzou the win long two is off the mark castleton inside he didn't play in the first matchup between these two teams neither did scottie lewis so florida shorthanded again today without trey mann but it didn't seem to slow down the gators last time florida's issues tom have been turnovers especially the last four or five ball games and that number got to 15 in the first half in their last ball game against missouri expect tennessee to really be aggressive climbing into the ball handler of florida to start this game tyree appleby specifically he turned it over five times in the first half against missouri into castleton nearly stolen by johnson here's scott lewis muscovy all over the place for tennessee early senior day for fulkerson and his classmate pines off the mark so jimmy you mentioned florida playing without man might be impacted in their pick and roll offense they run the pick and roll 30 of the time in the half court so how do they make up for that loss well they're gonna have to get back to more of a drive-in kick game today with hard cuts off that ball and they still have some ball screen options in there you know scottie lewis can come off of it a little bit applebee can come off of it but that is a really big hit to this gator offense shot clock winding down lewis trying to reverse it in it'll be tennessee basketball and florida off to an over four start in this game [Applause] rick barnes tied for 21st in division one history with 725 wins he's worn the orange before at clemson in the burnt orange variety of texas before coming to knoxville building this program really jimmy on the uh hard work and grit of three-star guys that left his five stars well he's identified guys that fit who he wants to be as a head coach and that man that's so important and you're right about the the five-star ranking with the three-star or two-star walk-on mentality and these two freshman for florida for tennessee in this lineup they had that same dna about them tom where's glover's the knoxville native brings down the rebound tried to work it inside to castleton it'll stay with florida castleton is a very interesting project for florida he can be a great scorer he shoots 60 from the floor but the offense slows down when they work it to him in the post yeah he's got to keep that ball moving he's not shaq what he has to do is get the ball on the move and keep the thing moved this is not his strength just bang bang plays on that low block and very well done though as i say that his hands are as good as i've seen in this league this year out of that five position jaden springer trying to make something happen you mentioned the top recruiting class and these great freshmen here's the big for florida michigan transit yeah there's a lot of contact by chester chess contact that the don david let's go i thought this league you've heard me talked about before tom this league has gotten a little looser with the whistle a little more physical make sure we're calling the obvious fouls let that pounding take place some on the block is that good to help this well i think it'll help this league when they get to the ncaa tournament because you watching those other leagues like the big ten they just absolutely smoke each other around the rim on those post runs that will be blocked on his way in reigning defensive player of the year ponds to springer springer to fulkerson [Applause] both bigs in this ball game castleton and fulkerson can put a lot of pressure on you to run back immediate rim pressure from that five position applebee for three and florida takes its first lead of the game yeah epiphany came off got the switch focus and stayed with him for a couple dribbles and backed off just a little bit glover comes up with it played just down the road at bearden high school and able to regain it tennessee's been a great defensive team all season here's the rugey the ball fake got him inside yeah dude that can't happen eve is a senior staring at the ball while he's on the white line allowing the rugey for the cut hard screen in the backcourt glover still not up five on four focusing with a three-point play they got the advantage because of his hard screen back near the opposite free-throw line relentless effort by folkey that's what's made him who he is can he get it going now bowling busting at the seams chris lofton had 21. and jimmy john fulton has talked about what being a volunteer means to him growing up fans of those teams and specifically those players he said man if i ever saw chris lofton not give a kid an autograph it would have just broken my heart and it speaks to what john fulkerson has grown to be yeah i talked with fulkerson on the phone for about 10 minutes earlier this week and when i asked him about growing up an hour and a half from knoxville and the chance to be a tennessee volunteer you could just see the emotion almost rise up in his eyes in terms of the influences he had maybe on other kids with those same dreams right now think about fulfillment's career at tennessee he's been through the obama administration trump administration and bite administration that's how he's been there and he may come back another year don't discount it missed his free throw went to the bench replaced by conway puns misses his three numbers for florida five out four glover walk with it if you joined us late trey mann is unavailable for this game for florida mike white's got to find a way to find some offensive guy that we asked him where trey man is most valuable he said he's simply scoring he's he's a guy that can make plays in a half court well trey man is the most improved player first of all in this league from last year to this year and that that runner game floater game that tray man has cannot be replaced by anyone else on this roster so they're gonna have to find it in other areas glover will get some heavier minutes today clever's only played a combined 10 minutes i think total of the last two or three ball games but in knoxville kid that mike says i know he will fight and he will have a factor in this ball game for the gator zero in black florida is missing a guy who has played 81 of the minutes in conference play and a season to season scoring increase of almost 10 points a game second only to joe kim noah and ahead of guys victoria greene and matt bonner in the florida analyst turned over by castleton yeah tom both teams are firing on the post they're coming hard with the double team with the closest defender [Applause] over the back foul at tennessee olivier come on first we haven't heard many whistles early in this one tennessee has scored 78 points in their wins this year and only 59 in their losses it's that dollywood roller coaster you talk about specifically with tennessee offensively and they're making open jump shots and they take a pretty heavy dose of 8-footers to 15-footers they can beat a team like kansas by 20. when those shots aren't falling their defense has to be exceptional josiah jordan james off the mark you got roller coasters like mystery mind thunderhead tennessee tornado the fire chaser express if you want to see wannabe oh who has up the it 407 or you go to the back way real good [Applause] i think all five volunteers got a touch on that basketball in that position that thing got to the seventh or eighth pass got the ball to the rim and followed up with an offensive rebound really well done by tennessee [Music] florida three for eight to start this game castleton gets rid of it and combo's hand went through the basket they will count they'll count it his win it up to block that it went right through the rim so an and one opportunity coming from the region it's an efficient way to erase two points but it's an illegal play if you go up through the rim as the ball is coming down in the rim and i'm talking about for tennessee their last position they got that thing downhill a couple of times and just continue to assault the paint and the follow-up by jojo just kind of sensed early this the meaning of this game tom i can you two teams that don't like each other coming in with something to play for on the final sunday of conference play this this thing will be body blow for body blow for the next couple hours three-point play for doruji who has the advantage in a slugfest in this matchup if this is going to stay a low scoring game well i would think tennessee just because at times their offense can't get into the 70s but i've seen florida win both styles and florida still remember they have the best win in the sec this year winning at west virginia tennessee may be the second best with their blow out of kansas jordan james with his first triple tennessee back in front the protector of tennessee's culture josiah jordan james started with schofield and grant williams and that torch has been passed to number five in white that'd be the match of the day here cass it's in guarded by fulkerson [Applause] the swing for three and noah locke who's been quiet lately he hasn't been in double digits but just once in the last five games that was the 11-point performance against mizzou yeah i say nope because 25 of his last 29 attempts are from the three-point line you cannot let lock get loose in this game too good of a shoot glover went hard down and no whistle [Applause] tom noah lock loves to just sit in that corner right side her left side he's pretty equal in terms of his effectiveness and his percentage but a loose ball situation the game gets scrambled and you come off tendon black man his eyes light up and very quick with his release got some toughness about him defensively this year still plenty of options in that florida lineup even without trey man man unavailable for florida today back at the team hotel suffering from migraines here's castleton working from the high post on ponds and it's saved by scotty lewis the start of this game jimmy living up the knoxville's old nickname the scruffy city this is a scruffy match-up i'm waiting for it to get cleaned up a little bit i never knew that about knock through do you know the origination of the scruffy city oh sure the world's fair came in 1984. there's castleton and the folks in new york city looked down on knoxville said where they're going to that scruffy city down in tennessee and knoxville blew it out of the water castle got a little scruffiness about him to start this game he's gone blow to blow with the ponds and that's not easy to do pawns he's just such a warrior at 6 6 and about 2 30. and castleton using his shoulders right now to create just enough separation that pawns when the outstanding shot blockers cannot get to the shot release of 12 in black remarkable first year for castleton the florida native coming to gainesville from michigan imagine what practices were like with michigan last year holy they have some they got their rival today michigan state trying to sweep them swan howard's done a magnificent job and he's got another great recruiting class coming in next year here's fulkerson [Applause] very fast now with that roll to the rim not only with his feet but his eyes how fast he found the ball man it's hard to handle [Applause] castleton at the lewis [Applause] fulkerson denies [Applause] it bailly [Applause] so how do you guard know a lock if he's really only a threat from three you don't leave him i know that i know that sounds pretty simple but he has such gravity ability for mike white that's that's where you drive the ball on t tournament seating so exciting uh game for both teams really excited about our tennessee team and the way we're playing towards the end of the season here hey danny mike told us a couple days ago how competitive that household was growing up we got his description of it tell us through your eyes a competitive fight all those things that you learned in your in your home if you're not attacking then you're you're going to be getting something so whether it's the thanksgiving dinner table or pick up basketball or video games you better be on the offensive at all times uh growing up around our house it's still the same on family vacations and our kids are all learning that very quickly noah locke with the bucket in florida with a five-point lead here um you guys grew up all over the country really as your dad now retiring as the athletic director duke took job after job what did you learn that benefits you now living in so many different places i think it definitely made us really adaptable obviously we got accustomed to different cultures and had to make new friend groups it made us as a family really close because we always had each other uh with each move and and obviously the impact it's had on all of us in terms of our connection with college sports you know we grew up on college campuses sneaking into arenas i apologize to all the campus police through all the years that these have to kick us out because we're constantly sneaking in the arena to get up shots but you know being around student athletes and coaches and donors coming over to the house it's the way we grew up really unique and we obviously all love it because we're all in this profession danny you grew up in a home that really valued the sport of track like the track and field your parents both track athletes and coach track who's the better track athlete between you and your brother who's going to win the 400 meter dash 400 meter i might get him on that one anything with some distance i had the advantage i got the longer legs he probably he'd probably get me in the short sprint but all right give us a scouting report on mike white the coach what are his strengths and are those family strengths uh yeah you know we're all obviously a little bit different i think the coaching profession is really well suited for mike he's very micro focused and uh in everything that he does and obviously with his team and his program and i i'm very different than that uh but uh you know we all have things we're good at sorry i'm trying to not get distracted by the game as i talk to you guys but i i think the coaching profession is perfect for his personality and really good coaches that i've got a chance to work with throughout my career are hyper focused on their program and that certainly fits his personality [Music] danny we certainly appreciate your time we'll let you focus on the game thanks so much for being with us no question guys thanks for having me florida with the three sound eight point florida lead the most fascinating to me aspect of the white family you saw the background and his dad took job after job and with his mom they met as track coaches they his parents have built jimmy the same house in three different cities the same exact house so mike had told me before he said you know after my parents moved i might go visit them and not know the neighborhood not know anybody in that town but i knew where the cutlery was because the kitchen was the exact same that they'd had for the previous two houses the exact same floor plan i have never heard that someone building the exact same house three or four and not maybe four by i know for sure it's at least three he told us tennessee's got to get back to driving that basketball and getting stuff down around the rim they cannot settle tennessee for a lot of jump shots in this game scottie lewis off the mark tennessee has shot seven threes to your point one of seven from behind the arc here's ferguson down the lane wow what a miss though he's going after that like a combo meal of pals in the middle part of the floor has been probably tennessee's best offense but very aggressive whether in the early offense and coming out of transition in the half court between the pipes rick barnes is seeing something there right now getting forkerson touches in the middle florida leading by eight playing without its best player trey man here's scottie lewis with the reverse that's so good you go double stack up top and get the baseline defenders looking at the ball and man just back that we talked about the importance of florida without ball screen action today how good they have to be as cutters that was it seven nothing floor to run it's now a 10 point gator lead [Applause] back to being what he was last year a lot of energy in that white jersey today for tennessee and the florida bucket was so good man they go kind of a stack spain action up top put two guys in the corner and just drive it downhill and fulkerson again man that that's who he is just backpedaling on defense and foot on foot and johnson got taken off a little bit such a viable guy man he leads the balls in so many areas charges drawn diving efforts for a freshman and he's he's wired for that tough part of the game volkerson misses a chance for the three-point play it'll be florida basketball eight-point florida lead jimmy after slow start the gators shooting 59 percent where is their offense at its best well right now it's the balance scoring of florida that that probably has mike white thinking i i like our groove right now and has rick barnes concerned it's not just one guy for florida's contributing to the point that they've made now 10 out of the last 13 shots in this game there's been multiple guys doing it it's a florida team that usually loves to run they've changed their style a little bit today as tyree appleby gets his second bucket coming off of a 12-point game against mizzou tom that's too easy that's a ball screen that was initially set about 24 feet from the rim and just with a very casual controlled drive got all the way to the rim not the tennessee defense that we've seen this year or is good enough to win this game while knocked away scotty lewis has it florida dismantled tennessee in their previous meeting down in gainesville tennessee came in that game as a sixth ranked team in the country they lost by 26. what did that game tell you about the volunteers it told me a lot about both clubs that's the game that kind of jumped out on me and my radar in terms of these offensive struggles for tennessee are real and they may not go away and what it told me about florida was that this is a real team florida went in one at west virginia this is a ball club that when they are on fire like they are right now they are easily a second weekend team in florida well we've talked about what's on the line for these two teams going into next week's sec tournament but there's also seating on the line when it comes to the ncaa tournament and jimmy florida was his seventh seed they dropped to an eight with the loss to missouri that's what the sec tournament looks like but let's talk bigger picture who wants to be in an 8-9 game this year with the likes of gonzaga waiting on the other side yeah not very many that that that one line right now gonzaga baylor michigan illinois and those teams are the real deal now if you can avoid that that's what florida has a chance to do right now castleton is really controlling this game as a post player they are castleman's making tennessee respond to his talk and he's putting tennessee in a lot of binds right now dion johnson with the foul here's the latest from joe lenardy's bracketology and you could certainly see some movement on the line for both of these teams with a loss today florida a nine i think they have a very good chance of getting up to a seven not just with a win today but with a good showing obviously in nashville and tennessee could go the other direction enters for tennessee osayo cifo with another one coming for florida [Music] missed them both when you can't break down your individual defender and that's been one of tennessee's issues this year without that point guard can just bam go by like a jordan bone and make something happen you have to be spot on in your execution your screening your off ball movement you can't get inside the teeth of defense time you settle for a lot of jump shots like tennessee's done in this game early start in knoxville tennessee kind of sleepwalking through this first half just 38 shooting turnaround good applebee that was a tremendous stop by appleby i i i love guys that can go full speed and put the brakes on like that under control and not drag that pivot foot that was tremendous we've got the last three buckets for florida taking time to size it up is games tennessee struggles continue one for 10 from deep that was not a real confident release when you catch it and have to talk yourself into shooting they played a host of different defenders on castleton so nice save by james chance to run bailey off the window and the foul on county castleton [Applause] this kid can really score and rick barnes may have to you know not go with his defensive team today and get bailey on the floor for more minutes because he is the one guy that can explode for 20 or 25 points the discipline the castleton there because this kid was going to take a really hard shot anyways and castle kind of compounds the problem with the foul bailey's been on a tear lately 56 percent from three over his last four games and an old-fashioned three-point play there castleton has only had one block in his last 80 minutes play so he's not as active defensively blocking shots maybe that he was earlier and that was that was that's a foul that i know he's going to wish he had back later on that says something because his overall numbers are very impressive yeah he's got a block rate at 10 which means he blocks 10 of the twos that are taken when he's on the floor that's better than pons who's the reigning sec defensive player of the year and known for his shot blocking ability little roller goals for glover the hometown kid the guards of florida applebee and glover now back-to-back possessions able to create their own space that's a real concern for rick barnes i'm sure right now bailey with the stroke his first three now you're gonna have to stay with him you have to ride his offense today and hope that bailey just defends well enough that he's not giving up more than he's able to get jack has been a foot turned it over tennessee has it a 10-point deficit in a time-out in knoxville the ability of those florida guards painted part of the floor right in the first half with that ball in his hands former red devil from jacksonville high school in arkansas been there recruited that school know all about jacksonville arkansas give me some it's got some great barbecue restaurants around that area in the central part of arkansas you get it with slaw on it if you want finish it off with a piece of chocolate pie and sweet tea yes that's a good day man even if your shot's not falling that's a good day [Applause] you feel like a tennessee could be down single digits at the half it'd be a win for him yes because the the flavor of this game made it feel like bam oh man he doesn't miss those rougey awful it was gonna be a 14 or 15 point game at half that still could if tennessee doesn't correct their own offensive problems right now a victor bailey turnover that's his really good hands by glover and bailey was trying to cover it up like a running back going through the line of scrimmage but glover with a hot hand to disrupt that basketball go ahead tom well i'm just going to talk about their efficiency 1.1 points per possession despite playing with their most productive offensive player tennessee trying to ice and keep the ball on one side right now a really heavy emphasis and maybe one of their best defensive possessions of this game rick barney's probably tired of that ball getting reversed so he's going to even go heavier on keep the ball on one side make sure our health defense is on the white line so now if you are florida and you see that going on in this game you put noah lock in a corner and say fine you're going to force it to drive the ball down the side i'm going to drive it to the side of noah lock and make you make a decision a runner for keon johnson as they broke the pressure and turned it into a two on one foot down down to single digits two minutes before the end of the half elegant johnson fighting he's not letting that ball get reversed to the middle [Applause] castleton on the bench nowhere to go inside for florida appleby once again the possession used almost the entire shot clock johnson they'll say it's on the floor no buck thomas florida though they tried to finish off that last possession by driving the ball to the side of noah locke i know the shot was missed at the rim but that that's how you're going to offset that downing ice defense of tennessee and if tennessee can get stopped you know that rick barnes is saying go go go go go our half court offense is scruffy rough and stagnant today we have to score early in the shot clock off of a miss you know there are folks in tennessee that didn't even know knoxville was called the scruffy city fulkerson left it short with castleton back on the floor vascovi finds springer buy a game so far he still hasn't scored [Applause] did tennessee win without jaden springer giving him production it's gonna be tough those two freshman springer and johnson there they are now they have taken this tennessee offense and ran with it and those two guys combining for a lot of points over the last four or five ball games two averaging combined 29 points a game over the last handful that's a power move and castleton went for the block again it results in his second well so what does what tennessee do tom they went what they went back with the middle ball screen to fulferson and florida tags him on the middle ball screen so fuckerson immediately fans it out to the backside of play for jojo james to come flying in rick barnes is getting good action done off of fulkerson diving out of ball screens and fulkerson making really good plays as a finisher or now as a passer another one coming for james 80 on the season the 36 here champ week continues on the networks of espn monday with the west coast conference semifinals first game tips off at nine eastern six pacific the number one team in all the land the gonzaga bulldogs against st mary's and it finishes with a fun matchup pepperdine and byu midnight on espn2 that used to be your territory jimmy going out west with byu games that's a great basketball out there yeah that first got started man that late night game on big monday started at midnight eastern and we were rolling out there me and bob carpenter and rick majerus at utah byu and unlv you said 36 years now for champ week yeah 36 years in a row that gonzaga has won the conference championship it feels like i'm not sure that's accurate but i'm not far off with that number most likely possessions on four straight go ahead yeah well if it's tennessee's defense they've gotten really aggressive downing that ball forcing it down the side not letting it get reversed not letting the florida bigs do their duck in move and to your point three or four minutes ago feel like a real win if tennessee gets this thing under 10 at the half and that's exactly where they're going to be [Applause] that is tennessee's best offense today folky playing like the four key of old on senior day ten first half points for the senior from kingsport tennessee four second difference shot clocking game tom don't lose the guy on the baseline right now for florida with his butt to the baseline don't let him sneak in behind you he's gonna come out on a sprint out ball screen don't lose him though as he sprints back in tough shot appleby never got rid of it the ruji tried to follow tip from three-quarter cut look you should get a point it should be 33 to 29 right now that needs to be a new rule well tennessee's defense had something to do with it rick bonds went really heavy in terms of we are going to keep you on a side when it's individual coverage or ball screen coverage forcing florida to make plays going down the sidelines will mike white make an adjustment bolkerson had great energy in the first half but missing production from some key players ponz springer and viscovi combined to go just one for nine double comes on fulky springer scoreless in this game got louis in the air and an air ball from ten feet [Applause] shot clock at two folky for three [Music] and a pons rebound yeah the rougey just got whipped and derouge is a guy that had 10 defensive rebounds in the last ball game against missouri he does not have one rebound so far talking about four in black a springer out of sorts turns the ball over there appleby weaves to the logo can you stop the ball if you're tennessee because again applebee's taken it anywhere he wants and he's not turning it over which has been a big problem for him the past four or five games castleton helps on the screen it goes to full person pass lock perfectly drawn up good job by folk you know he's got a small guard on him so he doesn't rush it puts the ball on the floor goes around him rick mars continues to feed folky on senior day [Applause] castleton got bulky out of position but then walked with it jimmy tell me about john fulkerson in this game i realized his senior day so the the anxiety is there to be even better but is he playing with more energy today than you've seen yeah tommy is he's playing with that that old folky reckless abandon that we saw all of last year i did the game last year at rupp arena where he erupted for 27 points and a comeback win and he's that's what he's looking like to me today he's confident he's not hesitant in any of his moves he's playing quick and fast as a five man with that ball and then a victor bailey turnover that game rough last year one of three wins for this tennessee senior class pines and fulkerson on the road at kentucky scotty lewis goes baseline hangs and hits what a great job by scottie lewis tennessee gave him an angle he says thank you very much and then to go in and take the hit and give it up and that's what tennessee has to do i think you'll see tennessee in this halftime trying to score now even off of a mate they've got to get this ball going at a faster pace florida playing without their leading offensive threat train man back at the team hotel due to migraines appleby whips it to castleton what a look and now fulkerson gets deep off balance rebounded doruji and a volkerson gamble to go for the steal results in his first personal foul castleton castle is so good off the quick post just beat you down the floor the quick post up boom that time folkers and just gets lost at a really good find by applebee how good has appleby's eyes been today a lot of times you have a five or six turnover game because your eyes are lazy your eyes aren't seeing the game as clearly as it should not today man his eyes are dialed in team high three assists for applebee in this one ponz gathers slips it back in that's his first bucket scoreless in the first half [Applause] applebee will yank it was in and out i like the description again a good late close out though to force a tougher look pons another offensive board tennessee's missed a couple in the paint in this half here's viscovie another offensive rebound [Applause] bailey another offensive board pond's got lewis in the air and tennessee will cash in after all of those offensive rebounds yeah florida got what they deserve you just put that film on tomorrow if you're mike white so you tell me what happened on this possession we're fortunate tennessee didn't knock down jimmy eve's punch effort indicative of tennessee as a whole the volunteers have rebounded 14 of this game's last 15 misses that's really something and eve pons is playing like a guy that realizes i've got 20 minutes left on my home floor that i dearly love e pond with seven rebounds to start the second half six of them offensively and if you're florida you talked about one thing in your timeout if you're mike white if you don't want to rebound you don't want to win and you kind of just say that the entire time out and look look at guys in the eyes and say get back out there because that's the message that needed to be sent from mike white to the florida gator okay the counter to that is that tennessee has made three of 16 shots this half that includes over five from the free-throw line yeah that's brutal but at some point you keep pounding people on the glass like tennessee's doing [Applause] their head yeah got him on the side four point deficit at one point florida led this game by 14. they jumped out to a 31-17 lead 18-6 tennessee run since if my abacus is correct here's johnson down the lane rejected omar payne with the with the pain brought the pain where are you going [Applause] where's glover former bearden bulldog gets down the paint it'll stay with the gators [Applause] we've got a timeout on the floor [Applause] major pain mike white trying to stay hydrated his florida team has really slowed down a four-point lead against tennessee a lot at stake in this one the fourth seed awaits the winner in next week's sec tournament ole miss would move up to the five seed with the floor to win tennessee with a loss with trump to sixth now the fourth seed important because that gets you a double bye into the quarterfinals appleby left the basketball behind payne promisifo couldn't finish and fulkerson brings it down [Applause] and an injured player down for florida tyree appleby grabbing his left leg [Applause] i think fulcrum are booing tyree appleby he's been laid out twice on those screens by folkerson on hard hits it's not like he went down in acting to stop them no yeah exactly and appley and folky pat each other on the back side and say hang in there man that's just part of the part part of all bailey drains the three over glover it's a one-point game when we get to the point in this game tom hart where florida says where's trey man you're without your best guy that can go get a basket from the three-point line the mid-range and at the rim and he's your best ball screen offensive player will that come back into this game at some point what is glover doing he's trying to win the fight all by himself right now mike white talked about it at times he takes it personally and just tries to win the one-on-one match up just over dribble over dribble the ball got stuck and on the other end victor bailey jr comes flying off of a pin down by josiah jordan james gets his feet set glover's too small and too late bailey says thank you they gave him a two in the building they haven't gone and looked at it yet so it's a two-point florida lead looked like a three didn't it i i thought i thought it was clearly a three but i don't know arkansas nice pass by veskovic johnson tried to thread the needle [Applause] scoring jot of almost three and a half minutes for florida and they foul applebee in the corner and he'll have three coming and then some chatter between the teams with keon johnson near the florida bench you know keon johnson makes a foul and he's clearly a three a chance to go look at that in the next media timeout three free throws coming for half of b 81 on the season [Applause] for the 36 year champ week continues on the networks of espn monday with the wcc semifinals game one tips off at nine eastern six pacific on espn with pepperdine and byu going at it at midnight you can watch those games on espn2 and as always live on the espn app from anywhere glover makes 2-3 gonzaga tracking the overall number one seed followed by baylor michigan illinois the first number two seed as of today is alabama out of this league and if they were to win the sec tournament title in nashville i could see how you can make the case for them to be in one seat as well where do you predict arkansas ends up here's bailey the way arkansas is playing time i don't think they slide anywhere above a four if they were to lose their first round game in nashville they might bump to a four i think they're a three that's staring down a two with just a couple more wins lock off the mark back to muscovy razorbacks have been red hot they won again over a m 87 80 yesterday eric musselman had promised his wife that they would watch coming to america too his wife and daughter after the game last night was so thrilled with the performance he said you know what i'm gonna pull an audible i gotta watch game film anymore that sounds like must that sounds like must for sure i'm not sure who the coach of the year is going to be in this league because i can make 10 strong points for nate oakes and 10 strong points for eric musselman i've got a feeling that will go to nate because they won the league but man those two guys have been phenomenal this year bailly off the inbounds couldn't knock it down [Applause] [Music] [Applause] tennessee with another bucket that's the first of the game for jaden springer one possession contest [Applause] castleton [Applause] and muscovy falls on it loose ball muscovy got it he came out of there with it and it looks like tennessee got a time-out good job by the scope by the scoby to know that tennessee did not have the possession arrow i'm not sure if that gives six boards three and a half assists the game and that man did you saw applebee saw talking with the trainer he's getting rubbed up where he took that shot from fulkerson on the screen that could be deep deep deep thigh bruise i bet trey man is watching this game tom tries to tell you man i've been so impressed from last year to this year you just went to work i said coach is going to have to play me i'm going to be that good the most improved player in this league not with floor today trey mann well done by you muscovy challenged fade away got it first buck and a half for muskobe we're tied at 41. scottie lewis turns the corner [Applause] rusensev in the paint follows his miss glover lost it and tennessee comes up with it [Applause] volkerson over the back crashing the boards it's his second personal foul as of now it's florida 41 tennessee 41. don't be surprised when we return if it's not the volunteers in front by behind the line originally two now the score reflected that that was a three and jimmy when you look at the bracket for the sec tournament everybody is locked in except for florida tennessee and ole miss the winner today goes to the four seed if that winner is florida tennessee would drop to the sixth seed and the rebels would have the winner of the first round game on thursday yeah one two and three were [Applause] big winners yesterday and lsu goes to missouri and wins that ball game the highest point of fair cam thomas was tremendous i think he had 29 points again and a top scoring freshman and all of college ball lsu will be a difficult team to handle next week in nashville if if they bring their defense with them from baton rouge if they don't they could be won and done ole miss held on against vandy in a low scoring game to win by 10. here's applebee's yeah well done they flipped the ball screen up top got him downhill just missed the layup i said earlier that rick barnes is going to have to play victor bailey today because he gets him and he he's not their best defender to put it lightly but he has a knack for getting the ball [Applause] they ran out of time to get rosenstein back on the court so play will continue with him getting taped up on the sideline bayley the second three-point play of the game he's got a dozen don't you get castleton involved right now for florida you got it on the road yeah you're on the road you've got a post guy you can throw it too he's not going to turn it over low turnover rate try to get him involved double up dive can you get him get him with a pin there you go springer steals it momentum [Applause] largest lead for the balls at six i think springer sensed that the ball was going to go to castleton just like i was talking about that he just set their men in that choked wing position and said go ahead and throw it go ahead and throw it go ahead though bam it's mine jaden springer in tennessee now not just and i'm gonna grab every rebound and get the energy going back in our ball club it started with pawns hulky's been good for the most part and now florida down six without trey mann their leading scorer leading rebound with the guy that can just go get you one and mike white now with a balanced offense [Applause] i still like 12 in black getting a touch on a lot of possessions right now for the florida gators on the road there's applebee inside needing the bucket and finally got one it's kind of used castleton tom is a decoy up top stacking high applebee turns the corner once again in this game bailey over castleton [Applause] tennessee on an 11-2 run [Applause] [Music] jimmy we're starting to see florida really missing trey man here in the second half yeah because he's your he's your best ball screen guy and tom he could go get his own and he could get his own at any spot on the floor florida's offense right now is really stuck florida's offense this season has been at its best in transition but that's where tennessee has enjoyed an advantage today you open the tempo up and you open up the opportunity for the volunteers here's ponds by reading this right it's a 30 to 10 run over the last 14 minutes of this game [Applause] 32-12 now in the history of this series tennessee has only lost to florida in knoxville 16 times castleton working on springer ponds doubled him lewis can't make him pay good job by springer to be really physical on the tag of castles now the ball screen tag him hard wouldn't let castleton rolling down to the restricted arm under g tennessee playing with a lot of confidence on the offensive ends after that that unblockable shot now that rick barnes is so good at teaching the high release the flick of the wrist where does mike white go to find offense right now [Applause] protecting those elbows not letting florida get downhill on them applebee forced into a fade away volunteers have made four of their last five [Music] volkerson to pons [Applause] tennessee's done that five or six times in this game the straight line play off of the offensive rebound has been huge for tennessee in this game 16 offensive rebounds for the volunteers in this contest [Applause] florida's gone another three minutes without a without a bucket [Applause] and one coming for no a lot they got bailey for his second and i told you that's the risk reward of having victor bailey on the floor he can score but then not only does he get beat have to try to turn tennessee over who has 10 turnovers in this game tom with seven minutes ago that that is a winnable number for tennessee it can maybe get to 11 no more than 12 are going to be in good shape expect tennessee to face full court pressure and there it is [Music] mike white thought he'd be playing a little bit more zone in this game we haven't seen a whole lot of it and we haven't seen much of the full court pressure only a couple of possessions if the game's going to change it's gonna change right now four went to full court pressure gave tennessee a little bit of a shorter clock to work with yeah that's what the press does for you on the front end of the possession you look up now with two and you haven't even gotten a shot up the game could be changing tom right now the game could be changing right now this is going to be a quick two it's more like one and a half i thought the shot clock jumped up he got pushed johnson got pushed the second time they've run the lobby johnson instead of ponds volleyball spike break out the other way johnson with the slam missed opportunity for florida only eve can make plays like that in this league if not across the country just erased what was going to be an automatic two castleton offensive foul everything's coming up orange now the block by air pawns just spectacular i mean his head is literally rim high and there's not many guys in college ball that have the speed the quickness the explosion to do that and keon johnson who has the dunk of the year so far in this league on georgia finishes it off at the other end pond and folk have been good today that on what could be their last time in thompson bowling arena all seniors have a chance to come back next year folk he told me earlier this week said i'm not i'm not sure what i'm going to do i love being a vault if you were to advise john fulkerson what would you tell them to focus on when it comes to making that decision well are you going to be a pro do you want to fight and try to be a pro try to earn a spot or are you a guy that realizes you know what i love being the best tennessee volunteer i can be i didn't have a great senior year i got a chance a chance to come back and be on a special team with a stud of a point guard next year at kennedy chandler fulkerson could be focusing all year next year if kenny chandler is what i think he's going to be that bait of playing with a point guard like that if i was fulgerson i would come back for another year i'm not john he's thankful he's not me we also talked about that in the zoom call he would have no need for that headband he used to wear josiah jordan james makes him two yeah made a play out of the corner instead of standing for a tough one out of corner you're almost to the point almost i will say tennessee where you think we have enough points if we can now trust our defense you got 57 can florida get to 57 with under five to go the pace of their offense right now says i don't know it's going to be close the only way florida will get there tom is if tennessee turns this thing tennessee trying to even the series florida hasn't swept tennessee in years and the gators came in with this fantastic shooting team leading the league field goal three point a free throw percentage trying to be only the fourth team to do that two of the previous three won national titles florida and 06 and kentucky in 96. they go to castleton florida just looks lost resentment shot clock violation come out of the timeout they got nothing now florida looks lost in tennessee looks really alert and alive with their eyes and their feet and hands defensively this is the part of the game i mentioned it maybe five or six minutes ago where you have to have tremend on the floor out today with migraine headaches and if tennessee just runs clean possessions right now and they don't turn it over they will be the fourth seed heading to nashville florida led this game by five at the half it'll stay this direction [Applause] [Music] talk about mike white yesterday he was roommates with current ole miss athletic director keith carter back in their student days at the university of mississippi and before every game those two would uh pop hoosiers into the vhs and watch that to get fired up they need something around the old picket fence now yeah they sure do [Applause] culkerson did he get it off i don't think he did [Applause] take a look at it but it looked alive like it was still on his fingers you know what else mike white keith carter did he went and played in the snow when rob evans told march madness winthrop knocks off campbell 80 to 53 winthrop jimmy shot 82 in the second half for the win the a-sun championship game is being played in moments that one's already decided though liberty versus north alabama north al is not eligible for the postseason so rich mckay squad already punches tickets still a game to play yeah congratulations to preston spradling from warhead state at the ovc champions met coach scotland earlier this year at kentucky big weekend ahead of us and next week as well applebee with the bucket knife white game the rebounds tom for tennessee in this game josiah jordan james with 10 and pawns with eight all the ponzi's eight have come in the second half here's scottie lewis florida picking up the tempo now and lewis fowler will go to the line the shot by tennessee maybe a little bit quick and tennessee's now back in that spot where you got to stay aggressive and keep scoring florida understands as well that florida is going to come at you from all four positions with the ball and castleton is the one post-up guy on the floor so everybody else is going to start hard driving it i guess payne's in there as well but i expect four to get really aggressive [Applause] trying to stop that clock draw fouls make free throws get their press set up [Applause] that foul is on ponds sec men's basketball tournament starts wednesday early around games on the sec network and the espn app first round starts wednesday seven o'clock eastern castleton inside ponds fighting for it semi's on espn championship games sunday at noon on espn as well tom that's a team offensive rebound from florida that's only their second offensive rebound for florida since the four-minute mark of the first half just a lot of one-and-done possessions for the florida gators in this game applebee almost gave it up florida desperate for a bucket representative inside to castleton and he got springer in the air he has to cut it to six points right there [Applause] they just haven't gotten castleton touches because of tennessee's swarming defense in the second half like they did in the first yes they they have swarmed the passer they they tennessee has defended castleton with better ball pressure from the middle part of the first half on so important for florida right now make the free throws and get your press set up castleton has been a second half player of the season as bayley replaces springer [Applause] rick barnes may be sensing tom but he needs another basket or two bailey's been really good today with 14 points castleton's got a scrape on his elbow they gotta get that taped up got a minute to keep him in the game florida comes in with a net of 27. as they get castleton mummy only 14 fouls on florida so they can be super aggressive right now with their defense heat him up go get him go get him scoby gets it across the timeline johnson finds fulkerson and they get resensive with his third has been active he's been a spinner today he's been very athletic and that that camera shot right there just the middle third of the floor holkerson has dominated with his energy plays his toughness his speed has been right on point where it was last year big free throws right now for john fulkerson 75 on the season pond's back on the floor for bailey maybe that magic number barnes was looking at was 58. it's going to be interesting that was it four and a half minutes ago i said does tennessee have enough points right now with 57 it's yeah he might need to get to 59 or 60. just lock in and keep defending right now for tennessee if you're florida can you create a drive angle or a closeout to give you a dry drive angle gotta go [Applause] lewis gets downhill around fulkerson muscles his way can't finish offensive board but a whistle and we got a foul on josiah jordan james florida went to a their standard dribble handoff on a wing right into a ball screen to get scottie lewis going downhill and lewis did a good job and not giving up on the balance and just fought to get around the win and give his team a chance [Applause] so florida in the bonus offense back on the floor for tennessee pawns the defense heads back to the bench scottie lewis 72 percent from the free-throw line on the season [Applause] big miss what a follow though castleton finds it and florida retains possession 210 to play lock in the corner off the top of the backboard [Applause] and keon johnson converts on the other end he is such a good layup maker and that's understated and undervalued in the college at the college level he seldom misses around that rim [Applause] jimmy that last florida possession was almost exactly what they wanted with lock open in the corner yeah and as you said hit the top of the backboard very uncommon for noah lock just a such a good consistent shooter 38 from the three-point line in conference play and they missed boxed off by tennessee the last time kept the door open for florida they can't miss again block one of three from deep omar pinging back on the floor it'll be colin castleton at the free-throw line after keon johnson's fourth personal foul before we're gonna get to 57 tom i threw that out there the four and a half minute mark what do you think doesn't look like it it's going to be close not when your best three-point shooters put them off the corner castleton coming off of a 10-point performance against mizzou midweek [Applause] two for two florida will put on the press they still have a foul to give florida does to be very aggressive swipe at it maybe you'll get a call your way tennessee will try to use some clock with one and a half to play i've heard vascope scoby's really good at the retail line at the under four minute mark i wouldn't foul 25 in white would you no i've updated the numbers last four minutes of overtime in his tennessee career 33 of 34 this season 14 of 14. you foul him when you got one to give not when you don't though right no no 33 out of 34 under a four minute mark for viscosity that's that's toughness as much as anything the stroke has to be good but the toughness has to be at a whole other level scottie lewis commits a foul tennessee leads by nine 125 left for the sec regular season tom hart with jimmy dykes jimmy's special thanks to all of the folks behind the scene who make us look so good throughout the course of the season including our favorite stacia patterson at the helm tonight in knoxville making all the right decisions keon johnson at the free throw line we would not have gotten these games on the air without the help of so many that never get in front of the camera so thank you all yeah our tech support especially mine the last two days they have been all sec first team performers just really telling our entire college basketball team this year from michael shipman to david seisler to linda schultz pat lowry david just the the whole gang man just how they have maneuvered us through this season has been really spectacular like sailing through a hurricane means something like that your cable company oh good reach in by keon johnson this tennessee team defensively is the real deal the numbers have backed it up all season long there are some good offenses in this league and tennessee is not going to be fearful of anyone in nashville or the ncaa tournament in terms of can we confidently lock this team down their concern is going to be can we score enough points but what a turnaround this ball game today because early everything was going forward his way gators held to 19 points in the second half muscovy's free-throw clutch gene is rolling 15 of 15 in the last four minutes did i ever tell you about my conversation with chipper jones about being a great clutch hitter no i said i said chipper what do you think makes a great clutch hitter and he said a great hitter meaning you can't be a great hitter in the clutch if you're not a great hitter hitter all the time why'd you foul why did you foul [Applause] and you're jeopardizing my 57 point [Applause] barometer that i set four minutes ago folky i love you man but come on maybe he was just waiting for that senior day ovation stop the clock to come out up eleven three free throws oh coming for applebee tom i lost the game one time no up nine yeah once up nine with 45 seconds to go i mean it can happen bad inbound pass make a three boom turn it over again steal score not typical of john fulke to put his team in this spot i don't think it's gonna matter but how good has he been on what might be his last day in thompson bowling arena i i think he will have a heart-to-heart conversation with his family coach barnes i i know he loves being a vaul i know that the tennessee fans know it as well it will be hard i think to get john fulkerson out of that uniform he made it clear this week that if he's playing college basketball next year it would be in a tennessee uniform he is not interested in transferring to another program johnson great footwork great fantastic hands great great hands good player what a second half for tennessee they've outscored florida 37 to 21 since the break maybe rick barnes got some coffee in his guys at halftime because they were sleepwalking during the first half they were just a little bit mike's got a good team though they're not going to be easy to handle next week with trey mann hopefully back at full strength with the migraine headaches behind him today and florida teams no joke now he'd start breaking down and how cool would it be if there are 22 23 000 in that building it was really interesting listening to konzo martin this week talking about his five seniors and he said i've told the guys it's time to live life what are your life goals you have a good reason for coming back to college basketball and playing another year that's one thing but let's not be just basketball players and john fulkerson both great at both welcome to the all-time great tennessee balls i'm not talking about scoring production top ten uh no in terms of what it means to be a tennessee ball in the eyes of rick barnes those two guys get it and they keep that dna personality belief system rolling if they do leave it's been passed on now to josiah jordan james it's a hard culture to beat and this will be part of their 96th win as a two-man senior class for tennessee basketball [Applause] he took the turnover that's a team player don't give it to me i'll take the turnover that was that was special special effort by tennessee over the last 30 minutes of this game pokey and pons walking off as a winner see you next week in nashville what a fun second half for rick
