according to many on the fora and even center-right Ben Shapiro is a debating genius he can tear through any leftist argument destroy them with facts and logic and reality well I'm gonna tell you that's all nonsense why does ben shapiro in particular have this reputation well he knows what he's doing on stage here are the three steps to being ben shapiro one be as smooth as possible and speak quickly to overwhelm your opponent it's common for Ben's opponents to spend a lot of time making a single point and then been quickly spams them with five different points or at least something with several different layers so that his opponent doesn't even know how to begin with it to speak in simplistic and over generalize language but in absolutist terms there is very little room for nuance in the worldview of ben shapiro and that really helps him not to mention that he tries to keep things as theoretical bag and hypothetical as possible and most importantly take the most extreme and ridiculous positions that you can without losing your audience ben's goal is to surprise and baffle his opponent and he's very good at it he takes positions and makes arguments that are so mind-numbingly wrong that his opponent is too baffled adequately respond now you may have noticed that none of these tactics are particularly conducive to a productive conversation the book is victory properly any debate on a single topic it could be over so I have chosen 10 minute period and City bunk and of course there's nothing comprehensive about this it could have been 100 and this video is probably going to be very long so parts of it are gonna have to be rushed argument number one take white privilege the only real privilege in America is American privilege everybody in America has it more than citizens of any other country in the world the privilege to make your own decisions and live the life you choose according to the liberal Brookings Institution if you make just these three decisions you'll do fine and with drive and ambition you'll probably do better than fine first finish high school second don't have babies before you're married third hold down a job if you do these three things you'll be on your way to the privilege of middle-class life so been frequently misuses the study to show that if people are poor it's just because they made bad decisions poverty is a choice anyone can make it and he especially uses the sublime black people for being poor and to deny systemic racism even though the same group the Brookings Institute that put out that study also published those studies showing that this applies more to white people but of course Ben never mentions the studies that prove him wrong he only terrific's we can you liked it because he's a fraud and now for the actual study that he will just talk about here are the numbers for economic outcomes compared to the percentage of people who followed all three rules if you do the math you could we find that 11 percent of poor people followed all three and yet or so poor and this doesn't even include lower middle class people twenty percent of people who followed all these rules are either poor or working paycheck to paycheck these are people who still need help with stuff like health care and education it can't be stress enough of there are people in this country working full-time yet still in poverty because we just haven't kept up with productivity now this idea of the undeserving poor who have nobody to blame but themselves goes back centuries as justification for wealthy practice to help the poor and as the Vox article points out socioeconomic factors play a huge role in these supposedly individual choices argument number two for example on same-sex marriage the way they frame the debate is always why shouldn't why do you want to stop two people who love each other from marrying each other this is always the way that they discuss this issue right that's always the question and the answer to that isn't well I do want to stop those people from marrying each other the answer is why do you think a child does not deserve a mother and a father we have to change the terms of the debate because there are actually two separate questions and the second one is significantly more important because personally I don't care about what two people want to do with their lives that's that's their problem I may think it's sinful but welcome to America where I can think something's a sin and you don't have to agree the problem that I have is when you're suggesting that government ought to value certain relationships above others when those relationships are specifically about the bearing and rearing of children first of all what the hell then second of all gay marriage is not the same as gay adoption third of all gay adoption doesn't take children away from straight couples it takes them away from orphanages and foster homes fourth of all nobody's trying to place a higher value on same-sex relationships you are trying to do that for heterosexual relationships this is Olympian mental gymnastics progressives fought for marriage equality and won by the way why are we given conservatives such a free pass on this this was just a few years ago we believe in small government and individual liberty uh-huh and if if the upcoming majority of research shows there's nothing wrong with kids being raised by same-sex parents then may feel like that's wrong that sorry been facts don't care about your feelings argument number three okay so the first thing that's important to notice about the Nordic countries the Nordic countries are by and large extraordinarily ethnically homogeneous so they're not comparable in terms of the in terms of and culturally homogenous as well so Vermont looks a lot like Norway right Bernie Sanders's philosophy works in Vermont and it works in Norway but it only works for a temporary period of time because Vermont doesn't have its own defense budget and really neither does Norway right we've been paying for the Nordic countries defense budgets for a long time also it's worthwhile noting that the taxes in these countries are extraordinarily high and the countries are going bankrupt anyway so for about a for about a 15 year period 20 year period the Nordic countries have been experiencing extraordinarily slow growth which has led them to actually elect more right-wing governments on economics and deregulate their economies because it turns out people don't like paying twice the amount that it cost for a normal car rather the income tax rate in in places like Denmark for middle-class people not for upper-class people for middle-class people is like 60% okay so all this of all them being homogeneous wink-wink is just a racist dog whistle military spending is even for us less than four percent GDP and NATO countries are working to double their military spending it's going off with a good deal and by the way if you apply this to the u.s ben shapiro and other conservatives will insist that military spending is not quote the real driver of the debt not only are these countries not going bankrupt but they're significantly less indebted than the US and so they're triple-a credit ratings pretty much all developed countries have experienced slow growth in the time period that Ben's talking about and Sweden's hether economy take off when the left-wing Social Democrats increased taxes and spending cars might be expensive that are but they have excellent modern public transportation and sixty percent is their top tax rate not their middle-class rate or you mid number four with them going out of business another floor that's where that's all cute that's all cute cute no no why don't the lunch counter the lunch counter protests that are so famous civil rights movement occurred as a voluntary boycott in the early sixties long before the civil rights movement and it integrated they integrated the business because of that capitalism is discriminates against no color no Creed and no sexuality they want the cash integration was done by force against a all right you know let me talk model is popular and by the way you don't need a sign on your door saying that you discriminate you think of all the discrimination lawsuits that can only make a difference when discrimination is legal and even if you believe in this fairy tale world where your God the free market could eliminate all discrimination why not make it illegal anyways oh that's right Ben wants to protect those who discriminate against LGBT people that's right argument number five so if that's the case why not just tax everybody 100 percent we can have massive growth from here to eternity oh my god that's so dumb hey Ben if you want taxes to be lower then why not just tax people at 0% huh huh he pulled the same shift of the minimum wage debate look in an ideal world and and well I'm sure we'll get to this I'm wondering what exactly the minimum wage should be why $15 why not 35 why not 55 why not 100 if we are going to be ideologically consistent about all the I will fight right alongside you with her for $1,000 minimum wage because I want to see leftist policies implemented in the city so that people actually recognize what impact they have I never have both for a $15 minimum wage that's great bad notice how they just laugh it off in kind of mock it they don't seen something worthy of a response but they don't understand that there are thousands of Shapiro fanboys who heard that and thought oh he wrecked them ownage another limb tard victim destroyed by bad freakin Shapiro okay so obviously if you have a 100 percent tax rate then way fewer people are going to work past a certain threshold and it'll be massively counterproductive not to mention we just don't want that and if you have a zero percent tax rate then you won't be able to fund your precious quote Empire or any government functions are necessary per cited function and of course a $1,000 now our minimum wage would be completely excessive and unrealistic it's like Jiang said you need to find a balance argument number six lenders systemically are systematically rather discriminating against qualified black borrowers the truth is that if banks routinely did this they would go bankrupt of course because there would be other banks that came in and spend money on black borrowers and those people would pay back their loans and these banks would be able to make a mint off of all of this in fact it turns out that according to a University of Iowa sociologist name is Sarah Harkness she did a study just last year it turns out that lenders actually discriminate against black males and white women for some reason or they don't discriminate at all right because her statistical size was not big enough but what she came up with was that black black women were lent to at the same rate as white men in her experiments which doesn't make any sense this is it so you have to start thinking is this something that we ought to take seriously or something that we ought to take with a grain of salt okay so Ben just ignores all of the studies that prove him wrong which is a regular thing for him to do and then half way of making this point he just casually mentions that oh but we're not study I decided that's bullshit how does anyone take this guy seriously now I don't know if this was some threee chest trying to imply that the real studies have those problems or if he just let it slip by mistake but then if you knew the sunny was invalid then why did you sign it it's almost like you're being willfully dishonest understand that your audience will never fact check you and what we're on the subject I'm speaking specifically about behavior okay there have been no studies and really have looked at these studies that the connection between what they call implicit bias this is their their favorite phrase now implicit bias unconscious bias and biased behavior has yet to be proven at any level that is even remotely necessary to be used in for example a courtroom which is why it's never been used in a courtroom it is also true that there is no way there there really isn't there's been no proven way to alleviate what they call unconscious bias which means that were ghost-hunting so what I would suggest is that if there is unconscious bias and I'll acknowledge the possibility or the reality of unconscious bias if there is then I need you to put don't care about what's in people's heads so much is what they do okay so instead of denying widespread implicit bias which is the usual tactic he wants us to believe that nobody would act on said bias this is so absurd that I Dre would need to respond to it but I will there are countless studies showing how bias leads to discrimination employers are half as likely to respond to applicants with black sounding names people are less likely to buy things sold by black people drivers are less likely to slow down for black pedestrians police are four times as likely to arrest black people for weed even though white people smoked it at the same rate and black people get longer sentences for the same crimes I could go on argument number seven the next few days for those who don't know boycott divestment sanctions which is a program to get the university to divest from all companies that do business with the State of Israel that's an anti-semite oh that's an anti-semitic program that program is designed to strike at the heart of the State of Israel the Jewish state the only reason anybody is even considering it is because it is the Jewish state I am not aware of any movement on the campus here for divestment from Iran for a vestment from Afghanistan for divestment from Indonesia from a divestment from Saudi Arabia from for divestment from Jordan from divestment from Egypt I'm not aware of any of those all places with egregious human rights records but Israel is a different story because of course it's filled with Jews then this boycott of Israel is directly based on the boycotts from other apartheid states namely South Africa and those boycotts war he wonders why we're not boycotting other human rights abusers then what do you think sanctions are if we play sanctions on Israel then this boycott would be unnecessary but we instead we support Israel in Israel is unique in the sense that it's been decades of illegal occupation and oppression of a group that's supposed to have their own State another thing that then and other conservatives bring up is how massively disproportionate the UN General Assembly is when it comes to condemning Israel but what they don't tell you this is why the General Assembly is toothless they would bring it to the Security Council but the US would be to it before last December the last UN Security Council resolution critical of Israel on Palestine to pass was in Oh - these people live in a fantasy world then he says here's a statistical review of Security Council activities in 2006 for those claiming the UN is obsessed with Israel and then it shows you there the the Security Council activities have mostly been against North Korea Mali Libya South Sudan Somalia Syria if you guys haven't read Nathan Robinson's the cool kids philosopher please do an advertise for a website called the fan my family now calm where you can get guns and shoot a potential home invader so Ben Harvard Law graduate understand the concept of self-defense unless you're black that is if you're black in which case in armed stalker who by way was told not to follow Trayvon can confront you and if he fights back well then he's obviously asking for it now of course we don't know who escalated first but we do know that Zimmerman initiated the confrontation he wasn't just randomly attacked by Martin and again at quoting Nathan Robinson when it came to Jordan Zimmerman Shapiro concluded that there's no evidence of Zimmerman's racism bear in mind that Zimmerman approached a stranger because they had a confederate flag tattoo so he could brag about killing Trayvon Martin got thrown out of a bar for calling someone an n-word lover ranted about his girlfriend sleeping with a dirty Muslim tweeted the lives of black slime don't matter labeled Barack Obama as an ignorant baboon posted means comparing Michelle Obama to Chewbacca and literally had a confederate flag profile picture and sold paintings he did of said flag also my favorite youtuber Sean made a really excellent video on this it's very long but like all those Sean's videos that's easily worth it or you mean number nine the way to make wages increase is to have a fully consensual relationship between employer and employee and I think this is really the root of the morality of minimum wage when it comes down to it and in two sentences here is that I would never force an employee to work for an employer at a given wage that violates the Thirteenth Amendment and constitutes slavery or indentured servitude by the same token I would never force an employer to pay a given wage for an employee because that is a lack of consent on the part of the employer and violates basic principles of fairness as well as freedom employees freedom is not infringed upon when they enter into a consensual relationship with an employer that includes certain types of hell that consensual of course it is they can quit who is forcing them where is the God where is the gun who is forcing them where is the chain the idea is that the relationship between the employer and the employee is completely free and voluntary now I disagree with this and I'm not the only one who does there's another actually conservative commentator who strongly disappears with Ben and his name is a beam shape Iroh if you a good or service that you want right if I would give you something that you want I'm not gonna eat tonight it's awful hey I mentioned in establishing a voluntary contract with you this is so voluntary and so optional but if you don't do it you'll starve to death Ben Shapiro idiot we called this forced altruism but he is right about the forced thing and in that minimum wage debate he went on to say multiple times that if somebody can't live off their low pay and lack of benefits then they should just go work somewhere else which is just dripping with privilege but moving on to our commune which is something so ridiculous that even as fans make fun of him for saying it not to mention you are not entitled to the product of somebody else's labor that's called slavery gang okay this is what would actually happen under a universal health care system here's what a single-payer health care system would actually do okay folks it would actually make doctors and this has been one of Ben's favorite arguments any law or tax that Ben doesn't like is slavery and you're putting a gun to someone's head the answer to all of this is to speak in the language of morality this is why I never say the government compels people to do stuff the government does not compel people to do stuff the government compels people to do stuff that point of gun why do I say that cuz leftist are scared of guns when we say the government compels things people say oh well compulsion well that's just like taxes right no and somebody come into your house in the middle of the night with a SWAT team with a gun pointing it at you and dragging you off to prison for not doing what they want right that is what we are facing that you feel it's acceptable to put a gun to my head and force me not only to give you the mashed potatoes but to actually have me pass them to you as well it's absolutely asinine okay okay well that would be a solid argument if not for the fact that you're eating asparagus which I made again how does anyone take Ben Shapiro seriously now back to the real world every other developed country has some form of you or self-care and how many of them have an underclass of slave doctors zero we've had the minimum wage since 1938 in federal income taxes since 1913 how many times have SWAT teams broken into homes in the middle of the night to put guns to people's heads over taxes and wages zero and by the way you guys are the ones who defend police brutality the only time SWAT teams throw grenades into homes and barge him with guns is over drugs radio silence from ben shapiro whenever this happens he has nothing against police militarization and violence against unarmed civilians plain and simple ben shapiro is ben shapiro an ultra conservative religious fundamentalist from Breitbart he's not honest he's not brilliant he's not rational he's
