[Music] in 2015 i visited the milan expo and there i saw an aquaponic system at the belgian pavilion and when i saw the aquaponic system i was fascinated at how fish and plants were living in one symbiotic system i was also kind of interested in sustainability at that time so i studied more about if i could build my own aquaponics system and if it was doable so i did my research for two to three years and in 2018 i mustered up the courage to start my own aquaponics system so i'm going to be growing bok choy here these are the seeds inside and then normally for normally for bok choy i'll be planting two seeds per hole just in case some don't germinate when kovid started i saw that a lot of supermarkets were emptying out and that's when i learned more about food security and how singapore imported all their their fresh foods especially and that made me think more about how how can i contribute to singapore and help them prepare for another pandemic like covid and i really wanted to raise awareness on sustainable agriculture and in particular hydroponics and aquaponics so that's why i um donate started donating hydroponic systems to child homes and i held workshops there talked to children helped them start growing their own hydroponic system plants so yeah right now i have the material to build another layer to my hydroponic system outside for this we need two nft systems a lot of pipes and connectors so many things after i built my aquaponic system i faced a lot of challenges but in particular my fish kept on dying and so obviously i was kind of devastated and so i researched online and i watched blogs of people who had the same problem eventually i did manage to find a way to keep them alive and healthy the journey to maintaining and successfully maintaining my aquaponics and hydroponic system was a bit of a struggle but i think after you've passed that phase of trial and error the system is pretty much automatic and it functions by itself so all i have to do is just see if the plants are growing well see if the fish are surviving and harvest them when time comes when i see the plants grow and i see the fish live it obviously is is a sign of success and it that in itself makes me proud of myself proud of like my efforts and help and making the system work but also it really it brings me a sense of calmness so whenever i get back home i'll just tend to the plans to fish and whatever hard day good day i've had it's just really relaxing to be with nature in this concrete jungle is how i would like to put it [Music]
