TEACHER TOOL BOX TUTORIAL | The Purrfect Pencil

tuned for future videos and to follow along on more of my adventures today I am going to teach you how to make your very own teacher tool box teacher tool boxes are really really popular and I was inspired to make my own so my is actually at school and we're not allowed to go back into the classroom until mid-august so here's a picture of my teacher tool box I spray-painted it coral and had tropical themed drawers but for today's tutorial I am going to take you on a journey to create a teacher tool box for one of my closest friends destiny and it is her first year teaching this year and her birthday is also coming up so I wanted to make a teacher tool box to say happy birthday and congratulations on the first day of teaching so if you're interested in creating your own teacher tool teacher toolbox and it's pretty much the first one that pops up that first one and the one right next to it are the most popular ones so see which one you like there are a lot to choose from but for destinies we're going to get the Swan I'll also leave a link for this tool box down in the description box below okay so we have our tool box here I thought I'd put the Box upside down to show the grand reveal emojis making a surprise appearance all right mojo let's see what she looks like perfect so here's what the tool box looks like there are three bigger drawers on the side and in the center there are twenty little small ones and they go pretty far back so if you wanted to put staples or I think even a highlighter can fit in here all right so now that we have our tool box let's go to step number two and I'll show you how to get your tool box spray-painted I know that we can rise together all right so this color is one of my absolute favorites it's so pretty anything teal or mint green I love I also wanted to show you guys the coral shade that I use for my toolbox that's at school and I tried reaching for it but yeah it was way too high for me there's also these glitter ones that I didn't see before that would look so nice on top of the teal or whatever color that you choose all right Destiny's actually wanted to keep her toolbox black but I still wanted to show you how I would have spray-painted it first I would take out all of the compartments and find a good base to spray paint on I would just use the box that the toolbox came in second these plastic backings actually come out and the first one that I had did not do that but they actually make more compartment space if you feel like you're not gonna use it I would just take them out and you'll use less spray paint okay I would just spray-paint your toolbox twice one coat let it dry and then another coat and let it dry and then you can touch up as neat it I don't have spray paint with me so I'm just gonna pretend that I'm spray-painting it using the sunblock yay time for the best part which is finding which labels you want for your toolbox you want to go onto teachers pay teacher's dot-com and if you've never heard of it it is a great place to find teacher made resources for free or for a really low cost so I'm going to type up teacher toolbox labels into the search bar and see what comes up you can go with anything you'd like I went with tropical but there are so many to choose from and they're at a pretty low cost so $3 $2 $1 and damn dime day there's also a free little category so press the free button and you'll see all of the free downloads for different toolbox label all right so these labels are the ones that destiny wanted this watercolor succulents theme it's going to match the black perfectly so let's download that right meal really quick I wanted to show you guys how I would edit my labels just in cases didn't come with the one you wanted so what I would do is either download the same font which usually the seller will tell you what it is or try to find something as close to that original font as possible let's say I wanted to make the label for staples I'm just gonna play around with it look at the different fonts and try to find one that matches the best all right so I don't really enjoy how the s and the P are kind of hiding behind that cactus so I just want it to pop out a little bit more so what I'm going to do is double click on the text box and that's going to take me to effects and I want a nice glow effect so go to glow options I'm going to choose white because I want a nice halo glow behind the lettering I usually make the transparency a zero and play with the size just until there's a white outline so I'm gonna keep going up and that one looks good so I'm gonna choose five and I'm going to bold it just so it pops out just a little bit more yay so now staples just pops out at you rather than hiding behind that little succulent all right I'm going to do a few more just to show you how I would switch things up [Music] okay so the black actually pairs a really nicely with all of the succulents it's going to look super super cute you can print with cardstock which is what I used or you can just use regular eight-and-a-half by eleven printer papers actually accidentally printed this one two-sided and that is not what I wanted so here is a comparison of the cardstock and the regular printer paper not really much of a difference so you can use either or it'll turn out beautiful regardless okay so now let's cut these guys out [Music] whoo-hoo so here we have all of the labels cut out I just realized that EF for extra we have four extra of the big ones and four of the small ones that we need to take out I'm going to ask destiny which one she doesn't want and then I can just give them to her later if she wanted to switch them out someday okay here are the ones that made the final cut so what we're going to do is pop these in a layer I decided to laminate them because I'm going to be taping them on the front instead of the inside I want them to be more durable and being able to fit all of these pieces in one laminating sheet is my accomplishment for the day okay so let's pop it in and get these laminated okay we're back we're laminated and we're finally ready to go time to start taping [Music] who's
