hello everyone I'm really excited to share my new teacher binder set up with you I worked really hard on this and for the last couple of months I've been putting this together and it's come out pretty much exactly the way that I wanted it to this is a small binder it uses half of a sheet of paper and I use this size binder because I found that the larger binders which I really do like are too large and after a while you don't want to carry it back and forth because it becomes really heavy this binder is pretty much as full as it's going to be because I've stuffed it with everything in here and it's still lightweight and I can still easily put it in my bag and bring it back and forth from work to home I did use one last year and I have my video set up on my channel that goes through this planner and I loved it and I used it every day and the last day of work I was still walking around with this planner because like I said it never really became too much of a burden I'm just going to show you that I was able to fit everything inside of here even though it's a smaller binder I put in my weekly information I had a section to put in my lesson plans if I wanted a more in-depth look at that but this really worked out well for me and I would have used the exact same binder and setup except all the files that I had these inserts on crashed in my computer so I had to start from scratch and I was kind of disappointed because some people from work had wanted the inserts so I created all new inserts and I actually have them available for sale in a printable format the Etsy shop and that information of course will be linked down below but first to get started I picked up the binder at Target and it comes pretty much like this and I always look for a binder that has a clear front view and a spot where I can put a full piece of paper in here the spine the whole length of the planner and I also like that there space for me to add something in the back if I choose to I'm just going to zoom out a little bit on the inside I also like when the rings are attached to the back of the planner and not in the spine because then the pages lay flat and when you open and close the book the pages don't flop all over the place this is a good planner and it's relatively cheap it's the Target brand planner and you can just pop this out and trace this and then you're able to add whatever type of cardstock you like you know it can be very versatile you can change it in and out once you get tired of looking at the cover so I think that it has great flexibility for the cost is what I'm trying to say I guess so that's this okay now I'm going to get into the main planner I want to make sure the whole book is in the frame okay when you first open it up I want it to look happy I wanted to be something that I want to use I wanted to be a place where I go to everyday and I'm excited to use it so on this first page I have a stack of notes these new pages come inside of the PDF file and I just left these without punching them so they could be like no paper and I use these if I need to jot down a note send a note to a teacher send a note home to a student or any but I may want to write quickly I have extra note paper right here I put a binder clip on here this allows me to pop a pen inside I don't have a pen loop so I thought this would be the easiest way for me to always have a pen inside of the planner so I'm not looking all over for it down here I have some sticky notes where I jot down notes also some post-its extra clips we can never get too many clips and on this side I have a small sort of dashboard right here and this came from target's dollar spot it was a pack of note paper like this and I just took one of the pages of no paper I laminate it put some washi on it punched holes in it and now I leave it in the front of the planner I can write on here with my dry erase markers if I need to or I stick notes here so when I first opened my book I can look at this right away that's just a decorative paper clip that I put there and some more sticky notes on the back now I'm going to come to the mean part of the planner and the first page says teacher plan book and on most of the section dividers I have on all the section dividers actually I have the title colorful and then some kind of graphic and a quote about teaching or about that section a good teacher can inspire hope ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning and that's why Brad Henry so this can introduce the section and you can use these as page I mean as section dividers if you choose to i laminated this one just cuz it's the first one in the book and it kind of introduces the book so I wanted to protect the rest of the pages underneath but I didn't laminate the rest of them it's just a personal choice however you want to set up your book and I do realize that no planner can satisfy everyone and you need to really take a look at different planners that available and really shop for your preferences some of you may prefer a larger binder you have to really go by what you're going to be using it for and what pages you need and where you can keep your information this is a suggestion and this is only what works for me I wasn't able to find exactly what I was looking for and I enjoy making these inserts so I just made them myself and I made them specifically for the things that I need that I thought most of my colleagues would be able to use many of the other planners though they have some adorable ones for lower elementary school and they're very cutesy it's not my personal style but I do think that they're cute and they're adorable anyway back to the planner so this is just the the front page it introduces the book I have just a simple information page where you can put down the school address and the school phone number just as a reference then we come to my first divider now I need these using cardstock and I took a package of small binder dividers actually these Avery plastic dividers and I trace them and that's how I got the template to create this and then I used my label maker to make the title for this page and this first section is business okay and my goal is no longer to get more done but rather to have less to do and I think we can all appreciate that that's by Francine joy okay on the inside here um zoom in a bit this is the personal attendance tracker and on here I write down when I'm absent I like to keep track that I like to make sure I don't forget any of the DS that I took off or and I want to make sure everything is consistent so when the secretary asks me to sign off on my days I have a reference page where I can check back I also mark on here when I work extra and also when I are out for professional development so this is all about my attendance and it's also a quick glance at the different months on the next page I have just a monthly went really a year at a glance where I can put in some notes in here this can be used for anything it can be used for when things are due for trips for the different year I used it last year for when my bulletin boards would do or different items were due this year I just put down happy birthday on it because I like to keep track of my colleagues birthdays we usually exchange cards and such so I wanted to have that this time as used as a birthday and here are those notes pages I was talking to you about here I did punch one and put it in here in cases anything else I'd like to add about the year overall next we have the goals for 2015-2016 sometimes principals ask for goals you have to you know you set goals in the beginning of the school year even for yourself for personal reasons you set your own goals that you would like to accomplish during the school year and the list of resources that you may need on the back I have space for an action plan ways we can try to achieve our goals and professional development that I would like maybe that it's going to help me with my goals or keep me on top of things I've been teaching for a long time but things change quickly programs change standards change and I like to stay on top of my craft for here this is a page for outside professional development and many states now are using the Danielson framework for teaching and one of the components is professional development so I like to write in here any type of professional development that I may do whether I'm going to a workshop or taking a new course it's all going to go right here in my planner I want everything about teaching and about what I do in this one book okay here's where I would put my favorite websites here is where the passwords would go important phone numbers certain students you have to call more than others so here's where I keep the list of students that I need to have readily available to be able to get in contact with their parents quickly this is the parent call log I like to keep track of who I spoke to and the manner in which I spoke the reason I spoke to them and if I spoke to someone left a message if it was an invalid number and whatever follow-up I have to do this is a good record to have when you're communicating with the parents because you can remind them of the calls that you've made okay and then after that is a space forth the seating chart I don't know if you can see it on camera but this is graph paper so once I get my seating arrangements figured out and find out how many classes I have I'm going to fill in my seating chart again there's more note paper I just printed out a bunch of note paper and I will add more as needed for meetings and for teacher teacher to teacher meetings and parent meetings I can just keep my notes in here that's the best thing about having a PDF file is that you can make multiple copies of one page you can skip other pages you know it's very very versatile next section is the calendar section and this is the bulk of the planner and it says the best teachers are those who tell you where to look but don't tell you what to see and that's by Alexandra xx phox I have another overview of the year this is where I'm going to put what UNIX I want to cover in what months so this is a reference me but again I could have put birthdays on here or any of the other suggestions I had mentioned before any of that could have gone on this two-page spread then we come to a year I mean a month on two pages and to be able to find my months quickly I put these pocket dividers in between each month and put in a tab that I got from Staples and labeled it on the side just so I can quickly access the months in my previous planner I had it on one page but I couldn't write in as much as I would have liked to so I figured why not spread it out give myself plenty of room and having a clear page divider in between doesn't bother me at all okay um I think I even yeah in September I started actually decorating my month so the months are plain enough where you can add your own flair to it at some days I like it completely plain and I'm minimalistic other days I want all the cute stickers I can find and put in here sometimes I washi tape it sometimes I don't it just depends on my mood in here in this pocket for September I have cut down some of the papers and this is a to-do list and this is my to-do list for September and on the back I have to do to call and to copy and I keep this in here because sometimes you get so overwhelmed you just need a place to dump everything you have to do in one spot so I just keep this here and I will put them in between all of the months and I'll be able to grab them as needed okay after each month you have your weekly set up and this is the weekly setup now they're not dated I go ahead and fill in the dates because again I can just make multiple copies of this if I mess up this week I can just print out another copy of it and you can't see it you might not be able to see it I can rush it and so you can't that this is broken into four spaces and the bottoms broken into four spaces and you can use them any way you'd like I'm only teaching one subject this year so I kind of have the whole column just for my information I know you can't plan an entire lesson in here necessarily but you may be able to put in the focus question or the standards that you're covering for that day or the homework just to kind of give you an overview of your week I've also included a to-do list over here and there's space for ten things you may need to do that week or calls you need to make or whatever from that previous list that you wrote down that you feel like you may want to tackle during this week it's all right here okay and every month follows the same I just have color on the side and on the days of the week and I leave the rest of it blank so that people can do what they want to do with their inserts okay so that's the calendar section and now I'm going to go into the lesson plan section okay this is the lesson planning session section and here is where you can do more detailed planning here's another quote an inside this is just a generic template this is where I can expand upon my lesson I can put in my essential questions the target vocabulary how I'm going to differentiate questioning that I'm going to use and then the engage explore summarize assessment and homework now sometimes I don't need to fill this out I can fit everything I need in the weekly spread and sometimes there's more to say or there's more to do so I may take and use these pages again you can print out as many or as few of these as you would like and the next section is assessment and everything that has to do with assessment so we have the beginning page here now we're required to put our grades online into a computer grading system and they want the assignment on the grade for it so here I keep track of the assignments that I give for each marking period I put the date and I give each one an assignment number so it's easy for me to keep track online of the assignment title and then the Greenes for the assignment so along with this page where I list the assignments I put the numbers of the assignment across the top here you know I list my students and then I can put their grade in these boxes again I can print out as many of these as I need depending on the number of classes that I have or the number of students I have and I have these pages for each marking period and we go by for marking periods I'm not sure what everyone else does okay also in the assessment section I have a sheet and they're in sheet protectors because I didn't hole punch them in there I don't want to bulk it up too too much here I have sheets for conferences my conference schedule and on Monday I might list the students I want to speak to or the small group that I may want to work with or the skill I want to work with with certain groups of kids so here's where I kind of plan out my conferences for the week based on what they've done in class in their classwork and then when I do have a small group conference I talk about the scale that I cover the students that are in that small group and I put in here any notes that I need to take from that conference maybe something else I'd like to go over or if they all got it or the names of students that don't need further assistance so that's my small group conference sheep on this side is an individual conference sheet sometimes I meet with students one-on-one depending on the amount of time we have and I put down their name the topic that we're covering the goal that we set at the end of the conversation and just notes about what took place during that conversation okay another insert is communicating with parents and I'm going to zoom in on this one so that you can see it a little bit better very generic it's to keep parents informed in between marking periods and in between okay here's a sheet that I use to communicate with parents it's like I said it's a very generic sheet and it has positive things on one side and things the student needs to work on on the other side and this is good information for parents in between the actual grading periods so it has examples like it's completely up to date with their homework works cooperatively in a group is always on time for class and on the other side is missing homework assignments is disruptive during class time so this kind of keeps parents informed the final thing is just the back this section I call it standards and what I'm going to do is make extra copies of this paper and put in the students names and I'm going to write the name of the standards in these boxes up top and I'm going to use this to check off the standards once I feel the students have mastered the different standards so I just made extra copies of this blank paper with this on with the students names on it and I'm going to use it for every set of the math standards that I have and keep track of them there now as I finish a marking period or as I finish you know grading certain things I can always remove things when months are over or when months pass by I can take the pages out so that it doesn't ever bulk up too much here's the extra copies of my to-do papers and my to-do to call in to copy papers so that's pretty much the end of my planner now if you stay till the end you have a chance to get a free copy of this PDF file now all you need to do to get a copy of the PDF file is to subscribe to my channel and leave a comment below now the
