foreign what's up Scotty LePage here and uh today we're going to be learning a technique we're going to call it teach a technique and the technique that we are going to be teaching today is a little technique I like to call Little slidey boys so let me show you what a little slidey boy is and then we'll go on to the technicalities of how to approach a little slidey boy that's a little slidey boy [Music] so and it's uh and it's barest form you kind of got this little uh double note action going on I think a double double note that's like something else entirely but uh basically it's two notes it's one note sorry it's one note played really really quickly uh and the second time it occurs it almost kind of like runs into it again you know what I mean so we got [Music] you can even go down but I don't really like the way that one sounds um I like that one because it's kind of like yeah you know like uh Metallica they'd go like yeah you know so it kind of gives you the yeah thing going on there a little bit so now let's talk about how you go about performing a little slidey boy you grab your note um I like to start with my ring finger it could be anywhere you could do it up here but for the ease of uh application we're gonna do it right here on the one two three four five six seventh fret on the uh what's that the D string yeah D string so go there see that see they're pretty good all right cool so you're gonna go right there you got your note good to go you don't need all this uh gain and Reverb and uh delay and all that stuff you could do it with nothing you could just go if you have nothing else grab that note and the goal is to take your uh I guess you could do it with your middle finger too but we're gonna use the pointer finger so these are the two fingers in action right here you're not gonna play like that though because that feels I'll pick this bad boy and kind of just like slide into it [Music] but here's the thing you do it too slowly [Music] you're not gonna get the same effect you can tell that I mean that's just like a normal slide and you're hearing this note too you don't really want to hear that note you kind of just want you want this note two times to sound like it's kind of like uh almost like glitching on itself you know what I mean so how do you do that well um you don't just you're not gonna force it too hard because uh you're just gonna throw yourself off a little bit so the way I like to think of it is uh I'm kind of just like starting up here and I'm not really pressing down on my pointer finger until I get to that fret so like I guess that would kind of look like or sound like a [Music] really slowly I know it sounds like but really fast sounds cool and then you know what you want to take it a step further you can uh put some Squealers in there too you can even pick it twice if you want you know what I mean in that case I think I'd probably do an upstroke on the second note to get like a you know the other squealy in there I'll throw a little bonus in there for you in order to do the squealy part of it you want to kind of like I use these really really sharp picks you really kind of just want to like throw your thumb like the edge of it you know what I mean so like if you're looking at it you would really only hang on yeah there you go see like that much of it a really teeny tiny bit and you're kind of just like touching the string a little bit as you kind of come here's the string right you're just touching it just scraping it just a little bit you know what I mean so that's what you get and you can do it like [Music] find your spot you know we're on the wrong string I like that one that's good yeah that was good that was a good little round of them before [Music] we apply the little slidey boys well [Music] that's one way that's one thing you can do a little bloodbath style I man I throw them everywhere uh let's see in reverie you got reverie that part where it's like uh they're all over the place so uh [Music] hell yeah that's how you do the little slidey boys so I hope this was nice and informative thank you for joining me on the quest to learn a technique uh today we're using the scale page Fishman Classic fluences man I gotta say I was a uh I was an active pickup hater before I tried these guys out I was very against anything that required a battery because batteries piss me off but to be completely honest they were pretty undeniably sick uh when I put him in the guitar and here we are I was a non-believer and now I'm a Believer they just I mean technology right they sound awesome so try that out I hope you enjoy the video and oh man [Music] thank you
