I really appreciate Barenboim's and Berlin's ability to still put life into a piece that, frankly, is very sanitized to both the players and much of the audience. I think the more leisurely tempo helps a lot; it never seems to drag on due to all the musicality brought a piece that could so easily just be played on auto-pilot
