Tatiana Maslany Gets Crushed by an Acting Coach

so that seems like a theme in some of the research that I read about you that at some point you did get really scared when you started to really study acting and is that is that something that ultimately made you better yeah I mean I I guess it's just I had coaches when I when I moved to Toronto who just shook me up in a way that I never I just had never seen that that side of acting what's exactly doing shaking out those oh just like I did I did a class here in LA actually with the teacher who's from Toronto and I was doing a scene and I was like performing like crazy like in the scene this this act this acting coach she's all about like impulse and truth and not performing and not acting and so I just went up there and I like did my good thing of like acting my face off and like you know it might have been whatever like fine but she was just like why are you acting right now like what are you doing what why won't you just why can't you just be and I was like like he's because so upset and so angry and so defensive and so like because it was what I always done and like I'd done it since I was a kid and it worked and it worked and it got me jobs and who are you to tell me that I've worked since I was a keynote since I was nine years old and um you know I've won awards in Canada or whatever like I haven't I you know what I mean like I know what I'm doing but she like just like was like there's this isn't this isn't acting like this isn't what it is and that's like got to be a mind-blower totally I like was I didn't what is it yeah exactly but that's the thing about it that I've discovered is that I think the reason it's so scary to me and so thrilling is that there is no right or wrong in it and I think as soon as I start thinking in terms of right and wrong all my creativity shuts down I become like a good student as opposed to the person who goes out and does an improv show and and just falls on their face and tries things and takes risks and you know I think yeah you have to I think there's a huge degree of not knowing anything that is that is that for me what I'm interested in exploring in acting
