[Music] national football league brings us to gillette stadium in foxborough mass all the success in new england over the last few decades and this crowd has never been more enthusiastic a moment ago the pants emerged from their locker room they are set as they'll square off with the tampa bay buccaneers [Applause] it's a short one here complete to his tight end and they'll bring him down at the 27-yard line the completion good for three and it's second down and partner i think that's a great example that not all tight ends are created equal because everything was right got the completion but he's not one of the more dynamic guys in the league so even though he caught it couldn't turn it into much more [Applause] now they'll throw here out of the gun and this is incomplete all right that one fell incomplete there but the best quarterbacks they'll miss on 40 of their throws somewhere in that neighborhood similar to a great hitter in baseball who's going to fail 7 out of ten times and still have a great year in this case you want perfection but way better than it hits the ground instead going to an opposite color jersey they head to the line facing a third and seven following the incompletion on second down here's a play fake as they set up to throw it's a short one here complete to the tight end and they'll take him down at the 31-yard line they get only four that time as that leads us to a fourth down so much about offense is what you call hidden yardage you know you throw the ball to someone they catch it and then they can make a big play you know they create a play run after catch they did a really nice job there limiting that and keeping them from a first down yeah stopped him in his tracks 51 yards on the punt there and that will come the offense as they take over and tampa bay trots out there now [Applause] [Music] now a play fake here on first down [Applause] oh he's going to air it out right away it's caught inside the 25 and all the way down to the 22-yard line great patience in the pocket of course it's easy to be patient when the protection's good and it was yeah you've got to pat those guys on the helm and say thanks because they gave him plenty of time to stay back there survey the field go through the reads that he wanted to and deliver the ball accurately that was really well executed and they'll go on the ground and he's got four down inside the 20 to the 18. when you find that kind of yardage you couldn't be more confident as a ball carrier and guess what you're gonna go back and tell your offensive coordinator i'd like to keep carrying it thank you he's got his tight end over the middle o.j howard and stopped a few yards shy of the goal line at the three it's his first catch and it'll be good for 15 and a first down [Applause] three plays already first and goal and they are wasting little time they'll try to punch it in with fournette and he will fight his way into the end zone for a touchdown a great effort there a three-yard touchdown run and the bucks have taken a first quarter lead ryan suck up on for the point after [Applause] extra point put through by sucka and it's now a seven nothing game [Applause] [Applause] now here's suck about to kick it away this is taken at the three and he'll take it past the 25 and up to the 28 yard line so the patriots coming out now [Applause] now flags will come in i think this one's going to be on the defense for jumping up three five yards as the defense jumps i know it's an anticipation game for them but it's also a reaction game and they reacted poorly on that one so this helps to start a drive after the penalty will be first and five hurry up here we go [Applause] out of the gun they'll look to throw they'll check this one down to michelle and he will lose yardage here to the 31-yard line that's gonna go as a loss of a yard and it'll be second down well that was a simple throw-in catch but even with that completion zero yards gained so they're behind schedule on down and distance i think they were hoping to get it to him he could make a man or two miss but that window closed quickly [Applause] from the shotgun he'll look to throw it's a short one here complete to his tight end and he's able to take this one up to the 35-yard line only three yards on the catch it's third down that was an okay hook up there with his tight end but unfortunately they didn't get the kind of yards they had hoped for that's gonna bring up third down and on third and three they decided to go with a dime package six db's yeah you're right they've got six out there let's go green 39 they'll set up a throw in their locker room they've got a sign that says defense wins championships and charles he pointed to that this week said that has to be us looking good earlier i like how you saw that because of the bold letters right you saw the emphasis that they place on that and what they believe in and for them it's every single snap so it's not just a matter of getting to the quarterback and knocking the ball free they're trying to read when that ball is going to come free as soon as those hands separate to throw the ball they want to be there and have a chance to knock it out a loss of a yard there to start out that leads to a second and 11. and they'll go ground game here with a tailback and he'll take this down just shy of the 25-yard line give him two on that run and they're still left looking at a third and about nine to go well they have that one snipped out excellent run blitz stop that one for a short game what makes a good run blitz a good run blitz the ability to stay on task to follow up your assignment go to the gap you're supposed to cover and not be deterred by anything else [Applause] to throw on third down brady and he can't hang on to it nearly picked he's known for his hands defensively but instead it just brings up fourth down charles that's an important third down stop you don't want to spot him two touchdowns here early you're trying to slow momentum down you've already given up the score they're coming right back at you you're exactly right being able to hold them there and force a decision on fourth down that's big for the defense oh they get to the football it's blocked partner i think they saw something there i mean they came from the right side deliberately and you know there's always a designated guy who goes and blocks it but it's the rest of his teammates to get him free they'll look to throw looking deep downfield now the defense loses him it's complete and he finally goes down at the 23-yard line a big play there for new england 46 yards well partner i'm not sure how this drive is going to end but how about the way they flip field position there a nice attacking play they picked up a heck of a chunk of yardage so the big play gets them all the way down to the outskirts of the red zone here for first and ten all right here we go on play action they'll throw he's gonna let it go deep for the end zone so they took a shot on first down but couldn't connect i'm gonna need some help with this one how did he miss him wide open in the end zone he's not hurried he's not hit and somehow incomplete yeah what happened during film study that's one where he's just gonna shake his head not be able to believe it six points go by the wayside on that one here we go green 39. [Music] [Applause] and his throw here's incomplete but not to get too over critical there because he knows what he's doing but his shoulders looked a little off-kilter there when he threw there i think you're being overly critical there you're just analyzing it and he gets those shoulders right that pass will go from incomplete to complete so now third and ten a big play to start the drive but nothing since [Applause] first catch for him it's good for a dozen and a first down when you're a player of his stature you don't just circle the games on your team's calendar without a doubt that's a game that you just figure you're going to be in each and every year that's because of catches like that that's why he goes the patriots into the red zone for the first time they've got a first and ten at the 11. [Applause] they'll set up to throw and that's gonna be caught for a patriot touchdown john smith an 11 yard touchdown and the patriots are within an extra point of tying this one up and man charles talk about zinging something in there those gloves they help with one hand and catches the fun stuff any padding for a rocket like that one would think so but i'll guarantee you this after that throw his hands will hurt later not right now in the moment he's just feeling good about catching a little stinger but a touchdown point after right down the middle and we are tied at seven so a tie ball game here as the kicks away this feel it at the goal line and not a bad return here he gets it out to the 25-yard line now the buccaneer offense set to take over again [Applause] is [Applause] and he'll fight forward to about the 27 yard line dante hightower on the stop well they didn't get a whole lot out of that one but i think you've got to continue to try and run and try and keep the defense honestly just sit back dare you to throw it on every down yeah you get your quarterback hit a lot that way too they'll break the huddle come up on second and eight at the 27 yard line back now with charles davis i'm brandon garden it's the bucks in possession of the football as we begin the second quarter they've got a second down and eight to start things out they faked the handoff now brady and his throws gonna be incomplete [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so the failure to connect on second down that leaves him staring up here at a third and eight from the gun it's brady trying to lay one up deep and that's caught inside the 30. yeah he gets this deep into patriot territory a big play for the bucks there on third down 54 yards but nice job there charles they picked up the blitz were able to complete the pass that had the total feel of a quarterback in control red blitz got him into the right protection scheme so he doesn't get hit back there he's got a chance to step up with supreme confidence and deliver it down field for a nice completion rick hitter here it's complete and he's brought down just outside of the 10 at the 11. a good pick up there eight yards on the first down completion seeing that play and understand just how tough it is to cover tight ends especially the ones running around the nfl nowadays makes me glad i didn't make it in that league i would have a really difficult time but now you get to sit up here with me yeah and that's fun isn't it and what a really nice game right there on first down for them brings up a nice second down for him throwing now is brady and his throws gonna be incomplete he was trying to find o.j howard and it's third and short when i watched that play i thought about what my coaches had told me in the past the biggest teaching point get your head around locate the football so you can make a play on it while it's in the air that's exactly what he did there that was nice an incomplete pass on that last play and that means they'll need to come up with something here on third down they'll try and run forward with fournette and he gets the first down yardage he needs before he's brought down at the six it's a gain of six as they're able to convert and now it's first and goal i don't know about you but that almost felt like old time football there third and two is not necessarily just a running down anymore a lot of times they want to throw the ball they went back to the roots and powered forward and got the first down working from the gun it's brady the quick slam caught and he'll be brought down right on the edge of the goal line at about the one-yard line that'll bring out second and goal after the gain of five well the strategy was evident there get it to your tight end and make it a one-on-one play with a cornerback who's usually going to win that one the tight end but not there not in this situation how about the corner defeating that logic and making a really nice tackle [Applause] they give it to him running left and he'll get blown up behind the line of scrimmage back at the six that'll go as a loss of five and that is gonna set up third and goal that's a really alert defense there because they saw the heavy look come in from the offense countered it with extra linebackers who brought a little bit of speed and heft and able to really make a big time play for their defense brady now on third and goal and he's got it caught in the end zone touchdown tampa bay as his guys are in for six and the bucks are able to strike for six and in the red zone i guess this is why you have a guy like that on your roster without a doubt if you have him you use him because he's a guy who's going to win just about every time i don't care what the coverage is extra point up and good by sucka and that makes the score 14-7 [Applause] oh [Applause] now here's suck about to kick it away this is taken at his four and he'll take this across the 25 couple extra yards up to the 27 yard line the patriots offense now they worked their way back onto the field and they had to wait a long time to get the football back probably not what you were hoping for when you got an offense atomic agreed what you were looking for is the defense getting the ball back pretty quickly right hoping for a three and out so that didn't happen you can't yelt your d for that they've got to take care of their own business and re-establish themselves now that they're back on the field [Applause] they'll run it now out of the gun and he powers his way up past the 30. call it a gain of four on first and that'll make it second down they'd love to just strike back with a touchdown right here and if it's a long play so be it but the main goal get a couple of first downs run some plays run some clock allow their defense to get a chance to catch their breath settle down and relax a little bit after they just gave up a score let's go 3 19. now a shotgun snap is their look to throw and that is incomplete james white the man he was looking for out of the backfield and it's third down it's been my observation there's been a nice variety of play calling defensively you and i often talk about an offense's ability to keep a defense off balance with what they're doing i think the converse has been true in this game yeah i think you're right they seem to have gone off tendency quite a bit but only the second quarter time to change things he'll look to throw midfield [Applause] so from buccaneer territory now it's first and ten at the 49-yard line [Applause] he'll drop to throw a quick throw here that's complete and he'll go down shy of the 40 at the 41 seven yards the pickup on the pitch and catch nothing fancy on first down but a very consistent type of a play hit that slant a lot of people call it an extension of the running game and it can be if that pass is completed because you hit a guy on the run like that he often can go for big yardage sets him up nicely for second down staying ahead of [Applause] and they'll run schedule here and oh he's gonna be brought down by the face mask here come the flags this is gonna get him a first down officials so cognizant of that call nowadays but that would look pretty easy yeah you're right they took out of their hands having to wonder whether it's a 5 yard or a 15 yard inadvertent or not now it's a lot easier you see it you call it and now it's first and ten a big mistake especially when you factor in the personal foul yardage on first down he'll drop to throw oh he's got a man wide open complete he'll head out of bounds inside the ten marking down at the nine another nice gain 16 yards there and a first down again i know the halftime's approaching but i don't think he's gonna want to take a break that's his fifth catch yeah they've really been targeting the tight end now let's go green 39 green 39. off the play fake he'll look to throw toward the center of the field but it's incomplete john smith the tight end his intended receiver and now it's second down oh my you know that that's one that he'll want to have back i mean they did everything right got the linebackers commit on the play action he just flat out missed another shot from the nine on second and goal hurry up here we go green 39. they'll give it to him up the middle flashed a nifty move but they'll drop him at the five yard line give him right around four on the carry we'll see if they want to keep pounding here on third and goal defensively i think they can smell a stop ball right around the five here brings up third and i think what they've done is they put doubt in the minds of the offensive guys what do we do because now you don't have a go-to player either side they pick throwing it running it it won't be easy and the patriots are within an extra point of tying this one up they went empty backfield all their weapons out wide so there really was no secret here to what they were going to do no secret but they started to execute it and they started to protect the guy throwing the ball because oftentimes when you empty the backfield people bring pressure at you they manage to hold in there and successfully complete the touchdown pass extra point right down the middle and we've got a tie game here in a back and forth first half so so we're right back where we started all even as the kicks away this is taken at the three and he'll be brought down at the 23 make it the 24 yard line now the buccaneer offense gets set to take over and charles away touchdowns have come so fast and furious for both sides of this thing it's starting to feel a little bit more like maybe a tennis match at a football game yeah i like your description there maybe we're sitting in a nice royal box watching this type of a game but let's face it right now the way it's going back and forth it's going to come down to who can get a stop now whistles here before the snap looked like one of the bucks may have moved now the buccaneers offense gets ready to head back onto the field we have witnessed touchdowns on back-to-back drives we'll see if the offense can continue this uptick here and i know you're looking at me funny you're wondering when i'm gonna get upset watching these guys go up and down field aren't you i wasn't looking at you i got something in my eyes that's the excuse that you always use for something like that listen i appreciate good offensive football as much as the next person when his club played well and is skillful i'm with it and right now this is exciting oh the defender likes it here comes the tampa bay offense now heading back out onto the field there have been points on the board we just saw back back-to-back touchdown drives i love it i'm high-fiving our statistician christian mcleod and you you're angry you're a defensive guy if you met one of my defensive coordinators god rest his soul i'm surprised he isn't in this booth right now wanting to really take you on this is not football the way he sees it he wants a good old-fashioned kicking game defense field position and we're getting up and down the field game here i'll take him where's his tombstone [Applause] boot hill baby a good pick up there of 20 yards throwing on first down is brady we're looking for his tight end on the corner it's complete and all the way inside the 15 before they drop him the gain of 39 that time as we continue to advance in the nfl as people continue to scout players they really don't care as much about body types as they care about those guys who can make people miss run through tackles and gain all that additional run after catch anybody who has that ability they want them on their team into the red zone it's brady and it's incomplete adrian phillips there to knock that one away it's always a battle who's gonna win on first down the offensive the defense let's face it if you've got the ball four yards or more on first down is what you're aiming for they tried to throw for it there nice effort to knock down but a win bring up second down brady's incompletion on first down leads to a second and 10. to throw again brady that's gonna be caught at the 10-yard line and a stoppage here a timeout before this third down play takes place as he'll stop it with exactly a minute to go before halftime [Music] [Applause] great the bucks on third down they've been good three for four thus far this will be third and six now brady again and they're gonna get to him a sack shack back at the nine-yard line now we're gonna get a time-out here called by the patriots as they get the stoppage with a little over 50 seconds to go in the first half [Applause] and for the second time tonight this field goal unit comes out here he had his loan attempt blocked earlier and suckup will put this one right through and they take a 17-14 lead so this time the protection holds up for him just fine and he's able to bang it through i think their special teams coach got the point across he gave him a pretty good ear pull after the block earlier and this time there's no penetration so they're able to pick up three suck up now set to kick it off following the main field goal this will be taken in at the one they'll bring it back to just about the 25 call it the 24-yard line out comes the new england offense to see what they can do this time and what do you think goes on here in this situation if you got the football you're trailing you're back in your own territory with just a little time do you try something you're thinking about jump starting your team right you just mentioned that they're down they're trying to get back into the game but you gotta figure if something goes wrong you may have put yourself in a spot where you may not be able to come back in the second half managing risk is a big decision here and an alley to run and he will avoid the contact as he slides to a stop now before the second down play we'll get whistles and a time-out as they'll stop it with 40 seconds remaining in this first half [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] here we go now green 39 back to throw here looking middle and it's incomplete well touching timing are critical for those types of throws he put a lot of zip on that one needed just a little bit more finesse trying to get it to his back [Applause] new england on third down they've been good three for four thus far they need just a yard here it's third and one all right here we go [Applause] 40 before being taken down a good pick up there 26 yards they'll look to throw now on first down he's got his man on the crossing round and offensively they'll take the timeout with six seconds left in the second quarter [Applause] [Applause] so even though it's first down here's the field goal unit on now to try to get three before halftime from the right hash it's a 35-yard attempt [Applause] and his kick is right there it's good and that will knock things up here late in the first half well maybe a nice psychological boost there just to get back to even with that field goal as we head towards half coaching 101 always says at halftime play it like it's 0-0 on the scoreboard well in this case it's level right same score each side just start over now you get the second half to play a tie ball game here as the kicks away this will be taken in at the one so thanks to the late field goal we are all tied up heading to intermission as we'll send you down the coast now to orlando that's where we find jonathan coachman ready with our ea sports halftime report coach and ready to get the party started for the second half it was an even first half of all time on the scoreboard then he'll take this across the 25 a couple extra yards up to the 27 yard line out come the buccaneers they'll have it first to start in the third quarter first half showed us some pretty good offense tie game we'll see what the second half brings and it'll be interesting because i think both sides feel pretty good about what their offenses are doing gotta wonder what adjustments are being made defensively to try and get a spark and maybe slow down the other side right here do you change up anything on this opening drive not offensively you don't you've got everything going your way you're probably prepared for maybe some change that you might expect but overall you like what your game plan is showing you 23 yards of the play partner this is one of the best routes anyone can have in their offensive playbook tough to defend because you think it's a go route and then he breaks it back on the comeback there's one other thing you need as well a well-thrown ball exactly right gav a guy who has some precision and throwing the football because of the timing of the route and they'll try the ground game here with the rubbing back and he is going to be stop cold behind it's a loss of a yard there and now second down sometimes with the running game you've just got to stick with it look it's the third quarter no time to panic but that also doesn't mean you just do it the same way you've been doing it the entire ball game maybe change up some blocking assignments or run a few different plays but stay with the overall essence of the running game they'll run it now out of the gun looking to find a lane but he can't reign in at the line of scrimmage back to back stops make it third and ten i know the scouting report on him is that he didn't possess the eye discipline to be an elite linebacker what that means is his ability to read react and make a play but on that one he looked like one of those guys throwing his brady on third down he's gonna float this one deep right side so they took a shot there on third down couldn't get it now it's four sure that pass was incomplete as they made an attempt to get a big one downfield but that's okay because the second part of that is if you don't get the completion at least you've told the defense you're trying to stretch them out a little bit and they may have to change accordingly here's bradley pinyon now as he's on to punt for tampa bay so here are the patriots now they get ready for their first possession of half number two their defense did its job yielding no points now it's the offense's turn and how much fun is that when you set things up to start a half and you just tell you guys hey if you can shut them down get it back for our offense we can roll and they played out perfectly now can the offense do what they wanted to do at the half which is all right those weaknesses and now attack them and score some points and break and a short pick up here as he'll get across the 10 to the 11 yard line three yards on the pickup there and it'll be second down well they're hoping that the second half is better for him than the first half they've got to find a way to get him going he's a big part of their offense all right here we go they're gonna look to throw and this is gonna be caught but they'll say out of bounds so it's incomplete i don't know about you but i wanted to reach out to the booth and snatch that pass myself that thing floated forever up there i think that threw up the timing of the receiver that's why he couldn't get his feet down even though he caught the ball you know charles i would have liked to have seen that yeah me too for you i wanted to see you reach out and catch that yeah you've heard about my hands huh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] i know coaches tell us all the time that having a powerful arm isn't the number one thing they look for in a quarterback but when you're trying to throw inside routes and you need to put some heat on it it helps to have the big gun in this case just a little bit too much the patriots send out their punter as he'll kick it away for the second time he gets this one away boy it's another boomer he won't go down give him 11 yards at time on the return now the buccaneers offensive unit back out on the field the crowd may be losing just a little bit of the edge after back-to-back punts they want some big plays they want to see some offense they want to see somebody break away whether it's through the air or on the ground now it'll be interesting to see where the patience is on both sides each head coach can you hang in there and not try and force something that could put your team in some jeopardy now a play fake here on first down wide open receiver and he's got this to the 30 before being taken down a very solid gain of 27. but mike evans sees man coverage i don't think he's the only guy gets excited i guarantee the guy throwing the ball does because guess what he's got a lot of options about where to place it because the bike up it's his size and frame brady 11 of 16 through the air it's first and ten and on the ground they go with a running back and he'll take this inside the 30 to about the 29 maybe the 28 yard line two yards on the pickup there it'll be second and eight now they struggled to get him rolling on the ground in the first half and that's sort of continuing here in the third quarter yeah but i don't think it's time to abandon the running game i would say keep feeding the horse and i believe he'll eventually reward them especially as we get deeper in the game again it's fournette and he's into the end zone touchdown buccaneers a great play there his second touchdown of the night and the bucks are gonna take the lead he's given him a little jolt just gave him the lead there but two tds now in the game and that jolt puts them in the lead what a terrific job by him he is carrying the ball and simply saying i want to win so now he's hoping his defense has that mentality as they try to hang on to that lead [Applause] now here's suck about to kick it away [Applause] let's just field it at the goal line and he'll get across the 20 before he's brought down at about the 23-yard line the patriot offense now set to come back out on the field they punted last time they had it what steps charles you think they have to take to make sure they don't do that again well let's just go to the football 101 the trade expression 101 win first down make five six seven yards on first down and make it a second and three second and manageable keep accumulating first downs that way keep moving the football don't wanna get behind the sticks because then the defense has the advantage [Applause] and he's brought down getting this one up to about the 35. nice way to start the drive a gain of 12 and a first down ball up to the 35 now as they come up on first and ten hurry up here we go 319. they'll look to throw here on first down gonna throw right side here complete and out across midfield down to the 45 the good pick up there of 20 yards and boy they had high praise for this rookie receiver we asked the coaches about him didn't they they certainly did and obviously they liked his measurables otherwise they wouldn't have brought him on to the team height weight speed all of that but how about what they really said competitiveness that's what they really liked about him the way he goes after the football competes for it and decides when it's in the air it's his and only his they'll look to throw here and nearly picked off there and it would have been a great time for their first pick instead of second down let's face it you can run the route tree as many times as you want get in sync practice it do all those things but once you get to game speed it doesn't always time up quite that well that one goes incomplete after the incomplete pass here now is second and ten here we go now [Applause] looking to throw and this time he's got the hook up it's complete and he'll go down shy of the 40 at the 41. only three yards on the catch it's third down well they were unable to make anything really big out of that but it's not a bad idea to find your tight end and give them an easy completion and keep moving things forward almost as bread and butter is a good running back dive play the last catch did get three but they're still left needing seven yards on third down here's a play fake as they set up to throw going for the deep ball and it's incomplete almost intercepted he had a great shot of picking that off in the end zone it brings up fourth down not only did they drop but looked like an interception in the end zone they blew a golden opportunity to shift the momentum the patriots send out their punter as he's on here to punt it away and tampa bay trots out there now and they're hoping to redo their efforts in the last drive when they got into the end zone and just think of what it's like now on the sideline because when you score a touchdown you have to go over look at the tablet and see what you did on the last drive when you scored points it's a whole lot better view than when you're trying to figure out how to fix things there trying to get the run game going this is fournette and up to the 35 before they're able to knock him down 15 yards is the pick up there and the drive starting very nicely first down now this is an example of breaking down a defense because on a lot of these runs he's getting past the point of attack and guess what he's doing forcing the secondary guys to have to make a lot of tackles ball up to the 35 now as they come up on first and 10. 20 like 20. they keep it with first down yeah he stopped immediately there no gain on the play it'll be second down as usual the hallmark of the good run defense linebackers making plays near the line of scrimmage absolutely nowhere to run there [Music] and he went nowhere he went backwards back to the 33. that'll be a loss of a yard and it leads to a third down yeah that was the safety that came through it made the play but there's no doubt in my mind he hits like a linebacker we see a lot of that in today's nfl don't we and that time we do indeed a big hit for a loss the bucks on third down they've hit it 50 percent three of six to this point this is third and 11. shotgun now for brady throwing for his running back he's got him complete and he'll get it out near the 40 to the 39 back now in foxborough as we've got the final quarter upon us we get ready to start the forward the punt team on now as pinyon sends this one away oh and what a play on special teams here this is going to be down inside the five all the way down at the two yard line now the patriot offense set to take over again they're gonna have to go at least 50 60 yards here if they want to ensure that they don't have to punt the ball like they did last time yeah so what you're saying is we're not playing to just get out of the shadow of your own goal line right you're playing to make sure the punter doesn't see the field again so it's not picking up a couple of first downs you want to pick up five or six first downs but make sure you move the ball into their [Applause] tackle but then territory brought down but a nice little gain that one good for 10 yards and that'll make it second and a foot or so partner remember a coaching friend of mine used to tell us running backs before games make sure you run and jog with your offensive line in pre-game get used to the ground shaking with those big behemoths starting to create space for you up front he did a pretty good job of just following those guys through there for a nice expensive run from the shotgun he'll look to throw over the middle and able to get it here to about the 16-yard line it's a gain of four there and it gives him a new set of downs that was a round run not just with dexterity but with intelligence found the hole in the zone made sure the quarterback saw him i was able to make the sure catch and flip the down marker back to one this quarterback now a perfect eight for eight to start the second half not bad first and ten back to throw and he's got his favorite target yet again it's complete but he'll be crowded well up field right around the 40-yard line a really nice gain of 25 yards they were in zone defensively went with a crossing route it's always interesting to watch that chess match yeah and i think safeties don't mind crossing routes against zone because eventually you're going to run into their territory and that's when they lick their chops in order to get the big hit or play in the ball offensively nice execution to find a hole make the catch they'll set up a throw [Applause] deep into tampa bay territory it's a big play there for the patriots 45 yards you have to give some credit because he broke some tackles in order to get that big pick up but maybe it's a little bit more than the lost art of tackling reared its ugly head on that play and the end result a big time pickup of yardage now let's go [Applause] and they'll go on the ground and flags come as he gets forward for about three yards and let's check on the call so this will be accepted as it moves the offense backwards [Applause] back to throw again under pressure and he'll go down sacked back at the 31. william goldston in there to drop him and it'll be a loss of about a and on that one the protection just broke down you've got to have that leverage don't you we always talk about low man wins in the running game for an offensive lineman versus a defensive lineman it's essentially the same thing in pass protection get lower than that defensive lineman so you can keep your balance and keep them away from your guy trying to throw the football to the sideline and that is a heck of a catch as he was able to get both feet in a good pickup there 18 yards as they get closer for third down tell you what he's been able to put the ball in some tight spots all game long that throw no different yeah a lot of people would call it a gutsy type of a throw i think he looks at it as i can do it so it's not that big of a deal to me i'm gonna keep fired one of the bigger plays in the game thus far the crowd getting into it as we come up on a big third down they'll look to throw and he couldn't hang on to it through the contact incomplete that's a good job there creating the contact to force the incompletion and now since his fourth down that should set up a field goal situation and a nice sigh of relief defensively to be able to hold them to three so on fourth down out trots the kicker in a big spot here and his kick is good and that'll bring him back within four so an interesting call there to take the three i mean i guess they're thinking that their hands were tied but you know fourth quarter that field goal might not help them that much in the end yeah eventually they're going to need the touchdown the thinking must have been they didn't feel confident about picking it up there hoping maybe on defense they can get better field position get a turnover get a better play and then they'll have a chance to attack the end zone the lead cut to just four as they kick it away and turn things over to their d let's field it at the two and a good effort on the return there gets them across the 30 to the 33-yard line and the buccaneers getting ready to go as they take the field right now clinging to a one-score lead charles and i think operating within that four-minute offense with a little less than four minutes to go applies here right it certainly does and that means the playbook is still wide open but you are a little bit more careful about what you're calling you want plays they're going to gain weight how would you say it consistently right you don't need the big shots down field but make sure the clock continues to run pile up the first down and now brady loses the football but it looks like a buccaneer was able to corral it yes the bucks have it tampa bay keeps the possession and a little bit of good fortune there he wasn't able to get it back but he did have a teammate on the spot able to retain possession for them the loss of three on that first down pass play now second and 13. brady now to throw he's got his tight end over the middle o.j howard and he'll get it out near the 40 to the 39. they'll wind up getting 10 back as ed sets him up for third down and there's another completion to the tight end and let's face it it is hard to overthrow a six foot six inch target it is indeed like their speed guys they like that huge six six target that they've got in him they really do and it reminds me of what one great tight end told me once he had told his quarterback just make sure you throw it up there you know kind of like put up in the top shelf where the kids can't get it and they're able to work this to the 25 before it's all said and done that goes as a gain of 36 on third down could just sit on it here could they had to throw the ball on third down got the big completion in the pickup fresh set of downs now they've got to feel great and defensively a back breaker not totally home free yet but it's looking good as they come up first and ten and they'll go ground game here with a tailback and he's going to fight his way forward here for a modest game and now right out of the two-minute break we'll get a timeout used defensively with a minute 56 to go [Applause] brady gonna throw here firing quickly here and that's complete and able to get this down inside the 15 to either the 13 or 14 before he's out of bounds it'll go as a gain of six that time and it moves the chains as well brady now perfect since the second half started seven of seven it's first and ten to throw is brady and he's got this inside the 10 to the nine before he's out of bounds five yards on the catch there brings up second down i do have to admit i like it when it all comes together when the top part catching the football right whether you're catching it with your hands or cradling it comes together with the legs in this case the feet do a little toe tap to stay in bounds and complete the catch great job by our crew on the camera shot love when you see the grass or on the field turf those rubber pellets flying up great catch now a second down throw for the end zone but it's incomplete boy you will not see a quarterback of his caliber miss a one like that very often i mean there it is wide open got the shot and he misfires we talked about boy he'll want that one back all the time he definitely wants that one back they come up now third and five following the incomplete pass and they'll go with the ground attack here and he'll be stopped just outside the five at the six now whistles blow and the patriots are going to take another timeout as they'll head to the sideline and talk over what to do next [Applause] so on fourth down out trots the kicker in a big spot here and remember he had one blocked earlier and suckup will put this one right through and that'll make this a seven-point game from a defensive perspective though i think maybe they're saying hey we did what we needed to do kept this a one-score game yeah without a doubt because they were able to bleed some time off the clock right put themselves in a good position but it's not out of reach yet okay being able to hold them to a field goal means that they do have a chance to come back and win this game suck up now set to kick it off following the main field goal this is taken at the three then it's a pretty good return here as he'll get it up to the 29-yard line and now out come the patriots and they had three points last time but they didn't want three points because they were well within range of scoring a touchdown we'll see if they can do better now i'm with you on that one let's just go ahead and be frank about the whole thing the only one happy about the three points the kicker exactly you put it through the post that's gonna help him at contract time but that offense they're thinking let's get in the end zone this time they're helping the contractor you could have kicked that [Applause] [Music] 45 at the 44. they may want to go back to that one first play of the drive good for 15 and a first down he'll look to throw oh a scrap for the football and he's going to come down with it 14 yards is the pickup there in the new england first down first down now but that clock rolling he's back to throw now a desperation throw deep down field that's gonna be knocked away and incomplete he has had a great game defensively he's been east west north south everywhere yeah and i love how you describe that because to be a great defender you have to be able to move up and back sideline the sideline and he's been fantastic reminds me of a young charles davis when he was playing man absolutely oh wow on the field but okay i see you back to throw toward the sideline and look at that catch dragging the toes and that's gonna be a first down well done the patriot passing game is rolling they've got another first down they got exactly what they wanted there out route catch get out of bounds stop the clock and i have to criticize defense here because you know the situation you want to keep them inbounds and have the clock run so i'm sitting on the outside portion of the field and not letting them throw an outro throw anything inside and i'll make the tackle an out route that's not the way you're supposed to play it no gain and it's second down now the patriots moving quickly hustling up to the line yeah the spike comes now with just under 40 ticks left new england on third down they're at 50 percent four for eight this is third and ten all right here we go back to throw and incomplete the contact made the ball roam free and brings out fourth down what a great sequence by this defense so far they've given him nowhere to go with the football and they just have to make it stand up one more time because it appears that they've got their number can they not have a slip up here and allow the touchdown down seven and they've got to go for it here on fourth down here we go now green 39. as expected they're going for it to keep the drive alive and that is incomplete they had to go for it with such little time remaining and that's going to be just about all she wrote for this one so the defense has to stay out and get one more stop they were able to do it forcing the incompletion so on their record that goes down as a successful play it doesn't matter how they got there how it happened they got it done they're the ones that are jubilant victory formation now for the buccaneers down to a knee they go and now we're going to get a time out here called by the defense as they get it with 26 seconds to go in the football game so out come the bucks now the clock cannot be stopped here defense can't do anything so kneel it down take it home no doubt about it is what you practice for in winning situations each and every week victory formation take a knee and go on into the locker room and celebrate call it a victory [Applause] and now whistles and a flag and i think we got a jump here someone jumped there defensively and it's a killer watch the football don't move across the line of scrimmage until the ball moves [Applause] and now they face a second and six after the penalty [Applause] brady will take a knee here and that should just about do it yeah it's fun to kneel down in front of your home crowd but when you go on the road that band of brothers attitude right just us against the world and get it done how happy are they i remember a coach at a previous stop telling me you get a win on the road doesn't matter the opponent get out of there like you stole something they did in this one the road win in the national football league charles you never take that for granted no matter who you're playing no matter where you're playing you take it and you run with it and you know you primed the pump all week in your own home facility no one thinks we can do this only people who believe are right here in this room and then you go on the road band together and get it done [Applause] that'll do it for us for charles davis and all our hard-working crew i'm brandon gauden you've been watching the nfl on ea sports for more find us on twitter at ea madden nfl from foxboro good night everybody
