Michelle in Tokyo #65 Takayama trip historical Japanese city 13th of January This vlog is about Takayama travel ✈︎ We stayed at a hotel named as “eph”. Each room has “Hinoki” bath ♨️ Dinner time! We enjoyed bathing with the smell of “Hinoki”. Next day It was raining whole day… Crossing the bridge for our first spot. Miyagawa morning market The market is by the river. We must eat Hida beef later…! This amulet is called as “Sarubobo”. It’s a traditional local product in Hida area. Mochi…❤️ Found a store specialized in Miso. Eating miso as it is…? We skipped but this rice ball store looked great 🍙 Let’s look for a nice lunch place! Kyoya Cannot wait to enjoy local cuisine. These are “Yakiniku” menus. Too many options… They had soba and fried shrimp too. We changed seating as we are eating Hida beef 🥩 Even I Japanese was amazed with this retro building. “Yakiniku” with Hida beef 😭❤️ 👵🏻 Okay, this is “Houba miso”. 👵🏻 I will come back to mix later, so leave these as they are. While waiting, we enjoyed “Yakiniku”. “Komo Tofu”, local cuisine at Hida area. It was so fun to chat with the lady owner. 👵🏻 Okay then, put this on rice. Mix of miso, Hida beef, and green onion. 😋 I got red perils Soda in addition. Thanks for your present, the owner 👵🏻 Let’s check tea store right in front of the restaurant. I learn tea ceremony so I love watching tea bowl 🍵 Design of crane and Matsu tree. They had many other things related to tea ceremony too. These must be figurines of zodiac signs. These are teas made in Gifu prefecture. Loved designs of each container. Came to see most popular shrine in Takayama ⛩ Am I the coolest? Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine Found a spot filled with “Ema”. In kanji, “Ema” literally means picture of horse. People write down their wishes and dedicate to shrine. Let’s make a wish at main shrine. Shrine with snow looks mysterious. Let’s try this “Yakudama”. You breath on ball, and the ball receives your bad vibes. And break the ball with this stone. The ball didn’t break so I tried second round 😭 Takumi kan They sell small things and furnitures with Hida woods. Japanese sword… 😂 This must be dialect of Hida area. They also had potteries. “Wappa”, Japanese lunch box. “Shamoji”, spoon for rice. Chopsticks. 2nd floor is for furnitures. Let’s go to historical area. This says dentist 🦷 Time for snacks 😋 Freshly baked rice cracker 🍘 Dipping into soy sauce. Wrapping with sea weed. Saryou Mitsuha Salted kelp. Purple sweet potato Mont Blanc 🍠 Matcha latte. It was easier to drink as matcha didn’t feel bitter with milk. Inside was mochi, vanilla ice cream and chestnut 🌰 It was first time for me to try Mont Blanc with mochi ❤️ Really loved this histrorical area! Sato Family store I love to check local supermarket. There were many things from Hida area. This is not though 😂 This is the tofu we ate at lunch today! Employee explained us their popular product “Agetsuke”. She was very nice so we got this. Got this “Amazake daifuku” for tea ceremony teacher. Tohouen This shop runs for more than 100 years. Our purpose was… 🐈 You! Will share you later! We walked almost 30 min to next destination. 2nd street Takayama “2nd street” is one of the biggest used shops in Japan. My bestie was looking for brand new pottery here. This is not new but it only cost 200yen… 👩🏻This is brand new. 300 yen. Cannot believe with price for these Mino ware. We bought a lot of clothes, OMG 😂 She is so good at shopping! New vloger is here haha Dinner time! Owner said he opened the shop very recently. Chose delux, with egg, bambooshoot, and roasted pork fillet. ⚠️ sound of slurping noodles 🍜 It was a very simple soy sauce ramen. So yum 😋 With new jacket from the used shop… I am gonna do something terrible. Sorry cats but you were so yummy. Good night! Final day Came to get sweets sold out in the morning. Iwaki This shop does only take away. And they only sell “Warabimochi”. We finally did it 😭❤️ Jiggling. Black honey sauce. “Kinako”, roasted soy bean flour. This was unbelievable good! Tefukin Let’s have brunch here. View from 2nd floor. For meal, they have crepes, including for dogs 🐶 We both ordered Hida vegetable crepe. It came with strawberries 🍓 Cheese was inside and amount was enough for brunch. Came to a very historical spot in Takayama. Takayama Jinta Welcomed by a beautiful tree. Let’s go inside. Entrance Hall Government Office Official business room Scenery outside is beautiful with snow. Tea room Kitchen for tea I wonder how long it took to boil watar. Guest room Living room Kitchen Ceiling is too tall. Tea ceremony room This room has size of 4.5 tatamis. Reception Hall This is the largest room of this building. Even for me, this was one of the oldest Japanese building. Later I knew this place had history from 1692. They had much more rooms than I recorded! Came to take a walk around mountain. We climbed the slope a bit, so we could see view of Takayama. Snack time with 🍡 We had a quick early dinner to make it to Shirakawago ⛄️ Thanks for watching until the end ❤️ Arigato 🗼
