Taiwan + Shanghai Diary 🛫 Trying real boba in Taiwan, Chinese streetwear and more!

Jody's doing a stream right now content [Music] setion okay okay drill sergeant toast is back at it again what up YouTube gang today we're here on the plane so we're flying to Taiwan and normally you fly evi air we're mixing it up there's a brand new Taiwanese Airline called starlux M and it was started by an ex-chairman from evier who's competing with his after he got fired spicy yeah so I'm testing it out check this out that men's bag see that brand that's the same brand as my luggage case that you always make fun of I don't make fun of your luggage it's just funny shaped Airline unboxing toothpaste which is perfect cuz I never bring my toothbrush when I travel no you don't it's weird that hairbrush that's pretty nice but I never use hairbrush either so to usess things for me okay eye mask which I don't like cuz it makes it too dark and I get scared oh socks nice no no slip socks stuff stuff this is my crib check it out I don't want people to annoy me I can't close it right now cuz it's Lo legit the nicest Airline I've ever flown in my entire life it's got like like 8 billion compartments this lady just handed me pajamas and a face mask for my flight I sit down and I can close a door and look at how massive this screen is this is literally the nicest thing I've ever flown in my life they gave me fresh orange and peach juice I think y'all this this SL hello YouTube I'm back with another Vlog this is going to be a very lackluster kind of relax Vlog this time around I think I did something similar for the Philippines but um vlogging is a lot of fun for me I love it I love capturing memories I love talking about my individual experiences but I found the last couple of times that I've vlogged in large content creator groups that's really taken me out of the moment of of experience and of travel so I'm really just going to do my best to take videos when I feel like it when I think of it and the rest of the time enjoy myself um I've got some dedicated YouTube videos coming out as well with some really fun Concepts as well as some short daily Vlogs with voice over that you'll see on my Instagram I don't know when this is going to come out before after during yada yada y but um it's our first day in Taipei and we flew in we got into Taipei at 6:00 a.m. of course hotel rooms are not ready until about 3:00 p.m. and so that's what we were told we were told your hotel won't be ready until 3: so we get to our hotel at 7:00 a.m. and realize we have many many hours to kill so we went to a district with a bajillion malls and went to a bajillion malls that all looked the same with the same stores in them everywhere we ate um at a dim someplace which was really yummy which you saw and yeah had some coffee just walked around killed time just checked in the hotel room um took some time to relax a little bit and then I believe we are going to spend the rest of our night um going out to eat and then doing a stream on Jody's Channel um so yeah chill chill a couple of days for now and um I want to say first day so far every time I travel to Asia I'm like holy Asia is just like actually the best like just feels like everything's easier it's in the future shopping is better eating is better food quality like just the when you walk into the train station you get to take the train by the way you walk into the train station and there's just like it's just easy it's just easy you just buy a card you put money on it you go a couple of stops you get off you're exactly where you need to be I saw I saw black guy it was really exciting we gave each other you know we did that hey yeah good to see you he was reading a book on the train but yeah anyways it's just it's just cool here I like here I love the beauty stores they're massive and full of all sorts of things and the people are really kind here um one thing that I will say uh compared to other Asian countries I've been to is people like don't look at me they don't give a kind of kind of like in the Philippines they like did not give a I was black and I think that um that's one of my unique things as a black woman traveling to countries like this is like whether or not I feel feel comfortable or like I'm getting a lot of looks or something like that these people do not give a they do not they look like they around black people all day or a day but I don't know if that's the case because I only saw one other black person today uh but yeah they don't even glance in my direction so yeah I found that to be interesting whereas compared to somewhere like Japan I felt like I got a lot of stairs here it just yeah not not at all so I found that to be quite interesting and uh yeah that's that's kind of it for now just a little update little hello uh I'm I'm currently in I'm like not tired enough to sleep but I'm not awake enough to do anything so I'm just like idling in bed and it's I'm sad um it's wildly humid and just so hot rainy wasn't really expecting the weather to be like this like I knew it was going to be hot but I didn't think it was going to be rainy so that was a bit of a curveball uh you just go outside and and you're sticky so I'm probably going to be taking like two showers a day which is yeah crazy didn't pack for that but we're going to do our best okay that's all for now I'll see you later whenever I do bye oh this is the future guys the robo shop where I bought many blind boxes some I've never seen before I'm very excited it's collecting them all for me hey we went to the store to pick up a scallion pancake it's ran by two old Chinese women yes it's perfect they too oh W this thing is piping hot what's in here scallion pancake we're at dunong B she really with it we just ate AT denong and T and it wasn't very good it wasn't like the the American one it um yeah she's making me nervous it wasn't that good it was that good it wasn't as good as the American but it's us problem we eating Americanized Tai Taiwanese food yeah which is kind of disappointing now we're going to go to a park we're now taking a leisurely stroll through this massive beautiful Park and we hear all just chirping see what the CHP CHP thank you wow they're so pretty look at him clean himself I believe in you I actually oh he keeps slipping can do it this is really important to you we can't leave until he does it Jody's streaming look at the he's so cute okay this zoo is kind of crazy though because it's like really open like this is the only thing between us and the monkeys look at all the monkey I'm going to text on show them the good stuff everyone's so hype about the Cathy bar he has no idea he's everyone's favorite animal get you get that itch this a freaking prettiest Zoo ever I feel like I'm in Jurassic Park right now look at how insane this is it's like a little bridge over the water with this Dome Birds what the is that what is that f is that that is drowsy it actually is taking a bath washing my butt looking at me wash my butt that is so my butt well um friends just went out to eat basically we finished up at the zoo we came home to rest and relax and then uh you know we we got ready to go out to eat but I have a stomach buck so I have been pooping Soup for the last 30 minutes um now let me tell you my waist is snatched stomach on flat mother flat um but I also feel like dying so uh I decided to stay back I went down to the hotel lobby and was like yeah let's go and then all of a sudden I was like oh no like let's let's go I need to go back upstairs went back down cuz everybody waited for me and then I got down there and I was like oh guys no I I can't go and I went back upstairs and I don't know how there's anything left in me but yeah I'm not feeling so hot so I'm going to spend the rest of the night in the hotel I am going to probably put on some TV uh and listen you know listen what better time to listen to some Chinese and um learn a thing or two or whatever or I might just spend the whole time on the toilet I'm not entirely sure but uh yeah this is going to end uh day two of the Vlog sadly see you guys see you guys tomorrow Jody and I virtually have the exact same thing on we we all have like long white skirts and then me and J both wearing gray tops we're on our way to jofen which is a old city in Taiwan um supposed to be what inspired Studio gibl Spirited Away so I'm very excited to check it out [Music] [Music] this is the cutest little Street I've ever seen there's the shops everywhere this dude playing a pan flute or whatever the heck that is food okarina oh an ocar is that what it is I think so an Ocarina yeah the thing from Zelda here's lunch CH toast made me order in Chinese and the lady said huh and now I'm scarred forever okay we just have this really nice Uber driver who dropped us off in cat town just like there's a bunch of cats and we already see cats cats have good cat cat one really cute two two cat two really cute three oh he looks cranky sorry buddy four 5 6 7 they built the cat's little houses look at all the oh my God [Music] nine this little guy is my favorite sure I should have counted in Chinese the whole time toast has been unsuccessfully feeding cats none of them want his Chupa chup you have to sing the chippy chippy song CH oh he did not with the chippy chippy Cho this is try number two no damn you're just kidding ejected left and right a cat number 11 followed by window cat I don't know anymore bro this is like 15 stretching cat sitting cat perching cat snaggle to his cat he looks like he's been through some I'm pretty sure that these are traines exclusives I've said I wasn't going to Vlog multiple times because I'm kind of over it but I'm just going to keep getting little Snippets of things that I think are cool and maybe they'll make on YouTube maybe I won't maybe go patreon who knows look at the cute little like stuff like I've never seen that before now we're going to the broadcast Mega don't get the big ones man why not it's like 1,000 bucks per well imagine what are we imagine $1,000 popmart this store is so cool oh my God okay now we're going to the last floor this is the monthly showcase don't know what that means oh it's like an art gallery this is crazy I love this little gu this one gives us like the little print these kind of look like balls though but that's okay oh my God I want I want this little this look at all these cute pop Ms I love them I love them all so much I want them all here's my favorites the skull pandas look at this cute little display giving me it makes me want to display mine like this like this is actually so freaking cute okay I got the China exclusives and then two things that I really like that I just wanted to pull once look at this FR okay it's early evening of day five I apologize my Vlog has been very um disconnected and just random moments of random things because I've been living in the moment and it's nice we just finished filming my blind guest that video with Ivonne as a special guest so again if that's already out go watch that and if it's not then look forward to that and now we're back in shiming which is where we went yesterday which is just like a shopping area we're going to grab dinner go to a Hello Kitty cafe and some other things don't know what else wow how cinematic my hands right no I don't oh now I do too far very nice mhm and 7-Eleven but Hello Kitty I love this little guy he's so cute and I really wish that America just had everything be cute because like I don't understand anyways we're going to go in the inside of the store is so freaking cute it has a bunch of normal stuff but also a bunch of like random San R stuff and characters all over the wall Jody's doing a stream right now content setion it's our last day in t on today and all of a sudden it decided to be so beautiful it's sunny there's no rain so I'm really sad that we didn't get to experience Taiwan like this for the most part I think we had one like nice is day when we went to the zoo um the rain was cool it just dampered a little bit of our outside exploration but yeah we get one final beautiful day before we um head to Shanghai we started this morning by filming a video with toost um which you will see it's a fun 7-Eleven video and now we're walking to get what is see now you're about to see the sun we're walking to I think the first bubble tea place in Taiwan so I'm very excited about that [Music] yay allegedly the first Boba chain in Taiwan thanks I was so excited I just when she orders Boba the drink is optional she's ordering for this it's so true it's so true I'm so excited you don't like jell no no I don't know ion I'm weird I'm really weird I'm so excited about this hella good ja it's good no it's good no weird there's like no flavor you're just eating texture yeah um n that's weird it's our first morning in Shanghai and we're out grabbing food and Ivana took us to this really nice spot holy moly okay my first meal in Shanghai is a French Patisserie that is so nice dude we're at a shopping mall in Shanghai that just no wonder everyone here is so cool of course they're cool look at what they get to wear toast is buying clothes from the local Penitentiary we're in this cool techar shop like bro what okay okay shopping hair is so lit I'm going to start flying to Shanghai just a shop like literally the store has everything you need in it you like cute stuff cute stuff you like to dress like this you dress like this I bought this entire outfit look at how cute this entire outfit is I bought this whole thing I bought this whole thing it's so cute like you want this you want hey thanks for holding my bags you want cutesy stuff you want sporty stuff we've got it all welcome to Shanghai this place is awesome I'm truly enamored by the fashion here I've boughten like I've bought I've bought like probably 15 pieces of nice quality for $250 so far um I've gotten like sports style stuff and then I got more stuff this a little bit out of my fashion comfort zone but I'm really inspired by Chinese fashion like I want to sit park for a day and just watch people walk by because everyone looks so cool um so if I come back from China dress entirely different you know why this is insane we just got to noning dude shopping here is crazy because every store is like an almost its own art installation like it's never just clothing it's also Chesire Cat so nice we went out last night I'm wildly hung over but today is our VCT day John's going to be playing in the show match so we're going to going to go watch him play valerant hopefully not puke in the arena see you at [Music] BCT hey what does this look like they actually take the map into consideration trying to fit all their all their ideas into there um and then the Rope come in yep it might pay off oh there but now he's got to get out [Music] did we're at dinner um with OTV it's very exciting they're choosing where to pick oh where you guys sitting where you going to sit right AC from you perfect demonstrating I'm getting all I am so lucky I get the good ones wow I got all the yummy ones from the nice lady at the restaurant [Music] this is the best duck I've ever had in my life yeah yes they gave us these Cherry things On's are real cherry and one's a fake cherry and I don't know what that means but I'm about to find out okay they said eat the fake Cherry first eat the fake Cherry then the real Cherry my real Cherry fell I don't know what that is that's but I don't like it don't know what it is smile I'm about to eat C cucumber for the first time if I've never said this before I'm a texture eater like through and through I only really care about texture and then taste anything can be fixed with um hot sauce this is everything I hate in a dish but I'm here I dropped it okay hold on I'm like mentally preparing myself for this cheers no it's actually not the bad the texture is easy it's not very slimy it looks really slimy it's not very slimy it's just kind of like soft cool yeah it's good now I'm going to eat fish bones which I don't quite understand but apparently they prepared these bones with salt and pepper trying so many new things at this dinner just fried something I don't have any bones where are the bones we're back at the bun all roads lead to the Bund wo everything just turned off right at 11:00 p.m. lights are all turning off we made the very ballsy move of going to Shanghai Disneyland and uh the first thing when you get dropped off to walk in the the park there's people that are trying what was she even trying to give she was just trying to sell us like ponchos or something it was pissing me off because she just was so we told her no four times but they are very adamant here so she like followed us the entire walkway just like nonstop screaming in a vaugh and toast's ear she didn't even bother with me cuz she I think she just assumed I don't speak Chinese U but yeah she was she was going off at them about buying a buying a poncho um and then as you walk in the rest of the way there's just like people trying to sell you other things I heard you can get scammed here which is crazy this is Lauren was saying we could get scammed like in the shops like inside the and I'm like what how how are you allowed to do that this is uh not the Disneyland experience I'm used to so I'm really excited to see uh what this is going to be like apparently it's Donald Duck's birthday I keep seeing like birthday signs for Donald Duck all over the place bro this place is ruthless I have never been cut hit by strollers smacked ran into as much as in this Disneyland line I'm not even in the park yet it's officially been an hour since we got out of our Uber and we just oh my God I need to shave my mustache we got dropped off at 9:30 we just got into the park sorry I was distracted by my mustache that was a wild experience getting in felt like I had to fight for my [ __ ] life but now I'm here they have Nick wild at the front instead of Mickey Mouse which is honestly kind of crazy to me like what they don't they don't [ __ ] with Mickey here we're not [ __ ] with the mouse this is cute though so this is their Downtown Disney when you you walk in got the same shops and stuff they're like decorated for summer which is really cute and there's Cinderella's castle but the chines version wow I was looking at this ride and I was like holy [ __ ] this looks so cool it's the Tron ride which is like one of the exclusive sh High ones you sit on a bike you ride through the way I'm really excited to go on this I've never even seen Tron but I'm so hyped for this ride well um we waited in well we we fastp passed Tron well we got to the front and I got the and so I went to the bathroom and now Ivon and toaster going on Tron and I'm waiting and um yeah this sad it's okay it's okay though la and toast waited for me so now I sure hope I'm safe to ride now honestly would not ride that again you like lay down like you're on a motorcycle I kind of feel like I'm going to puke and my leg got stuck in the beginning it goes really fast and then it just keeps slowing down and going fast again and slowing down and going fast and you're like this and then your neck is crooked cool looking not as cool riding it's B Max [Music] off no I can't that one's big nose guy and yeah they all have big noses creepy creepy uhoh okay we just went on the Mickey I can't get over my mustache look at my you can barely see it you can totally see it on camera don't look at my well now that's what everyone's going focus on I've already talked about it like three times anyways I'm just going to talk like this now or whoever Snow White ride at Disneyland is the smoothest roller coaster I ever been on that was like butter it was really fun I like it this is my my favorite ride so far I liked it well I mean we just did this in Tron Tron was I did not like we're now entering zootopia land which you had to get a fast fast to get into and uh yeah this is something that they don't have elsewhere so I'm really excited to check this out everyone has been dressed as Judy Hops and Nick the fox so I they must just lopia here I think it's going to be crazy I've been constantly questioning where are all the people in this Disneyland like it's such a big Disneyland but there's just there's nobody I I can't find anybody they're all inopia they are all here this is the most packed portion of I'm appalled why why does China love zootopia and why does trying to love loto bear I need someone to tell me all right we're going to go ride the zootopia ride [Music] now I now understand why they're obsessed with this zootopia universe that ride was sick it's basically the Chinese equivalent of the rise of the distance ride it was awesome it was really cool really fun up there that's like the sh Shanghai exclusives so far are really good Holy Gift Shop went crazy like the most amount of people ever is in that shop I that was so stressful they got him oh my got we do blue blue we're leaving Disneyland and I thought wow this can't get any better but then it got better and now I'm forcing them in oh my God you're so tall not that and they got me the Naruto popart box yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah which yeah which one do you want all right I'm a big fan of Sasa I really do not want Sakura you can't say what you don't want why cuz then you put it into the universe and that's one you get oh if you get the Kakashi one can I have it no I like the Kash one to damn you okay SASE or Itachi oh it must be K who is it who is it bro did I tell you or did I tell you yon what a character that matches your aura was that a compliment I don't like her either just opened our bag to give us shirts and look at all the snack I I didn't have room with my suitcase I already got overweight I had just stuff everything in here if you want some on the flight I got I got it dude I need that so bad on our flight home um we stopped back in Taiwan and uh now no if you want to hear why ion's laughing go watch her Vlog you little criminal you little you're not going to tell them I will tell them but you we can also tell them no no no no no go watch a Von's Vlog if you want to hear her story of how she became a Taiwanese criminal we now have um I don't even know how long we have like 7 hours to kill in the Taiwanese airport so we're in the tourist area we're going to go shopping at the uh cosmed in 7-Eleven woo honestly I'm back I'm happy to be back here man Taiwanese shit's hella cute everything's just cute and nice their 7-Eleven is nice all right here's all the stuff we got since we're going to be here so long we finally got these cute little Donuts that we saw everywhere but never got very excited to eat this sweet potatoes and sweet potatoes and I got these spicy chips tomato prets tomato prets for our Canadian friend and corn and corn corn oh hey you know what that's pretty good so this is the area where we get to sit there's not a lot of very comfy chairs but then they have this cool like outdoor area I'm going to go look at wow they have this Observatory where you can sit and like watch the planes take off which is honestly pretty cool I can spend 2 hours here I doing you're dancing in the middle of the airport what are you [Music] doing two stalls okay we're in the business Lounge for starlux now which is a like look at the VIP rooms this is a airplane modeled like it's a new one a new Taiwanese airplane that's modeled after a space so all of the people are like space their fits are like space suits and then you go into the [Music] bathroom and you touch to open the door and it's like this super futuristic like it's sick I love it here here's all the food they just have alcohol like this they've got dim some and hot dogs and other chilled things in a and many many many drinks we're really making the most out of our business Lou experience everybody got so much stuff broen has four drinks hello I'm finally home back in the US and uh yeah I just wanted to wrap up the Vlog a little bit tell you about how much I enjoyed my time holy moly like Shanghai and Taipei were some of my favorite cities I visited they were both so beautiful and so much fun I think that if I went back to Taipei I would structure my trip a little bit differently to have more time to ort of explore places further out of Taipei like I saw that there were a lot of areas that looked like Hawaii honestly and so I'm very very curious about those I think that would be very fun for me to go and check out next time and I imagine I'll be back I think I'll be back in Taiwan at some point in time and then Shanghai was awesome it's a very major Metropolitan City it was a lot of fun I don't know if this Vlog is going to come out before my other videos but if not we have uh a lot of fun videos coming out from both places is overall my time was very amazing and I hope that you enjoyed this a little more fragmented less storytelling type Vlog uh it was just a collection of moments and I think that was a lot easier for me to feel like I was immersed in my time there so yeah I guess I just appreciate you guys letting me make content in any way that sort of fits for how my lifestyle is going at the time and
