hey folks welcome to the snowy north in Canada we're already getting snow here in November and I am at Smithville RV in West Lincoln Ontario and I'm going to do a walkr of the tab 400 the tab 400 is a trailer that I've really always had a lot of admiration for it's lightweight really great craftsmanship inside unfortunately we weren't really able to go this route because the tab didn't have a bunk when we were looking but it now actually has a bunk so it's the same setup as our trailer you can sleep two people at the front two people at the back so it sleeps four even though it's such a small footprint big shout out to Dave the owner here at Smithville RV for putting this trailer in this great spot for me to do this walkr I really appreciate it great place to uh buy an RV and they've got a great selection of everything from really huge RVs and they got a lot of stuff in the small lightweight category so check out Smithville RV for sure so let's dive in and start walking through this trailer and we're going to start on the outside and then we'll work our way inside as you can see got a nice grab handle step uh very easy to put in and out it's also really solid really like this step uh you've got two plugs uh so you can plug in you know items if you set up a table out here and so on really nice beefy off-road style tires which is great this unit here has the Boondock package so it's set up a little bit more for both boondocking and for off-roading kind of maybe not totally off-roading but definitely uh you know you're going to be good on your gravel roads and and uh Bush roads and that kind of thing so we do have some nice storage here good space uh the opening is not super big so you're not going to be able to get like say my barbecue in there but still lots of storage space um it's it's a very good size coming around to the other side you do have some handles grab handles to help you out when you're uh moving this thing around which is kind of cool and you got this beautiful Skylight which we'll see when we get inside so here we are on the utility or the non-amp side of the tab 400 Boondock Edition and beautiful portal Windows two of them this one's in the bathroom this one is by the dinette your air conditioning comes out here sits under the dinette so it's not a roof model very similar to our trailer here you've got a great dump area and I say great because it's very very close to the edge you won't have to get down on your hands and knees to get at these very well located on the trailer and you can see the 30 amp connector just above the tire okay so you've got an outdoor shower on this one and this is your Nautilus Water Center and basically for whatever you type of camping you happen to be doing it tells you where to put them to be in the right place or if you're winterizing or whatever and you've also got your city water connection here as well and uh your gravity fill right here as well you can see they've got the little door in the bottom so you can run your hoses down through the bottom which is great and oh we've got a a little light in here which is cool oh and there is one other thing you've got a solar Port nice little design and here you have your outlet for your furnace beautiful Graphics package on this Boondock Edition as well and here we are at the nose of this trailer manual tongue jack on this particular model I'm sure you can get an optional power one if you want uh and you've got some nice storage on the front here a really nice tongue box SL storage unit here looks like it's made out of aluminum and Nice metal tongue box and as you can see we've got one propane tank and you've got lots of space for all your electrical cables hoses and outdoor uh RV related items so very nice design on the tongue of this looks like you would also have room to get a bike rack over top of it if you wanted to huge window from the dinette as well which is an awesome feature and we've got some more of these grab handles which is great unfortunately a leaf blower ruined the audio during my interior shoot at Smithville but it's okay Lila and I redid it at the 2024 Florida RV Super Show so we'll start in the kitchen we've got microwave right there nice size beautifully integrated in and the amount of storage in this trailer is I mean compared to our trailer there's got to be at least quadruple the amount of storage uh so you've got this you've got up here as well um now in the kitchen area we've got the same sink as our trailer so it's sort of boat style almost sink with the fold up faucet and glass top so you can continue to use it for prep but as you can see you've actually got you know a fair bit of counter surface uh that you can do prep on anyway nice two burer dtic stove probably better than our Suburban um and I'll just demo those lines so you can see you can have screens to keep the bugs out uh you can have you know if you just want to have a little bit to peek uh let a little bit of air through then you can have your black outat shade at the bottom and then scream down so and basically all of your new camp windows are set up that way um below the kitchen you've just got a tremendous amount of storage and you can see it's full of their show materials right now which is fine oh I love this the the space yeah I love this feature neat curved doors yeah and uh you've got another door here you show just so you can access it from both sides when you have a deep cabinet like this it's ideal to have uh doors on both sides okay so below the uh kitchen counter just tons of storage so we've got our Cutlery drawer and I mean these are very deep and just lots of space another one below that I mean this is this is close to what we might have in our house so lots of space for pots and pans and so on and it's deep too yep and below it has another drawer nice soft clothes then right below the right there you've also got one by the bed under the bed nice okay and then if you just go to the right you've got that open and again full of the new camp stuff so but you know it's a massive drawer yeah it's deep so you can put quite a few uh clothing items in here so just above these drawers you've got the fridge and it's an isotherm you have a small freezer at the top here see a little ice cube tray and good size got nice cabinet or a tray down here as well so it's a good size uh fridge you'd be amazed Folks at how much you can fit if you know you're obviously not going to pick big bulky things right but we have a similar size fridge in our trailer and we're able to fit about a week's worth for four people as long as you're prudent about what you're choosing and what you're bringing all right so you've got the TV here and then of course you would put your pillows here so it's great for watching TV at night it's a good size bed I would say it's a full Queen I have tested these out uh actually at a dealership and I can tell you that the comfort of the bed is phenomenal this is not a trailer where you're going to have to go and buy an upgrade mattress after the fact uh you've got two reading lights up here which is great and then you've got this Nifty little Nook for putting your devices so you can store them so you can see you've got both USB plugs and 120 volt plugs you've got a battery heater switch for the lithium batteries that come standard on this thing you've also got your inverter switch and uh light switch as well so just really convenient to be able to set up your devices there and kind of control anything that you'd need to control right from the bed without even having to get up my favorite I have to say that this window for someone a bit claustrophobic like I am this is a dream because you can look at the stars and or just the beauty of uh waking up in the morning with with you know a blue sky let's say um it does have have as all the W the windows you know your your shade I mean your shade comes from back here there you go the combination okay so up here above the fridge we have a stereo as well and then beside the fridge we have the bathroom so you've got the sink in the corner then you've got your shower set up here in the corner and lots of storage in here as well which is really neat and you've got some hooks so you can dry your towels of course you've got the Nifty covered toilet paper holder so that it doesn't have a problem when it gets wet and then you've got the toilet in the corner and it's a plastic toilet I actually prefer plastic though just because I anything you can do to save a little bit of weight I'm in favor of uh and you can see that we've also got an exhaust fan in the bathroom which is going to help with controlling the humidity so we're going to do the Headroom test so I am 6 ft tall I'm also wearing hiking shoes or boots right now and I just can stand up without my uh boots on I'd be absolutely fine and in terms of space you know what it's you know it's pretty good like you know let's close the door just real quick so can you fit I can fit and what's cool is where you would naturally stand when you're taking the shower the bathroom is wider on this side so I've actually got a little bit more Elbow Room over here where I would need it so yeah thumbs up to the bathroom now we have the beautiful dinette and again the big window windows on the both sides you could have some Decor fun here your Cubbies yes yeah yeah there's storage over by the window there there's also storage all the way around at the top on both sides and along the front just a a small little storage area but you know something for always good to have little nooks and crannies in your trailers for sure all right all right now believe it or not this beautiful dinette converts into a bunk and so we are going to give it a go y let's try to demonstrate go [Music] ahead [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and now your dinette was transformed into a bunk bed so a small child child will up this is up to 200 lb so it's you know for or large child small child or a large child 200 lb is the weight that holds the top and so I can tell you guys that I just fit in here um it's just about exactly 6 feet especially if you take that little cushion out of that uh corner there uh I'll show you it actually so I can just pop that out so my feet actually fit in there and uh so I could actually sleep on the bottom bunk the top top bunk is a little bit too tight so I'd say this is definitely for your smaller kids um but nonetheless turns this into a true four-person trailer so we actually did set this up this time and uh well we weren't sure exactly where the cushions went and I guess that was the most challenging part of it so otherwise it was pretty straightforward okay let's dive into the three things that I love about this uniquely cool trailer and then the three things that I'd love to see changed the first thing I love is the kitchen specifically the amount of space when the stove and sinker in use you can see there's plenty of countertop for cutting boards and prep trays which is something that our teardrop lacks the second thing that I love is the standard solar package wow with 300 WTS of solar on the roof a 100 amp hour lithium battery 1200 W inverter and an external solar Port it means you can still charge the battery and park in the shade at the same time awesome the third thing I love is related to the first thing that I change and it's the utility platform and tongue box on the front of the trailer I just love the look of it the design the extra storage but all that storage up near the front leads me to the first thing that I change which is the tongue weight unloaded we're looking at 427 lb which is already over the capacity of our car's hitch receiver as you load up the tongue box and platform that weight is only going to go up so you're going to need a tow vehicle that can handle 500 plus PB of tongue weight bummer the second change I'd like to see it'd be great if the bed was north south instead of east west so there'd be no climbing over your partner for a middle of the night bathroom break but I guess it's a fair trade-off for that kitchen counter space that I love so maybe it's better the way it is the final change I'd like to see is very minor I wish the outdoor storage compartment door was just a little bit bigger to allow for storing larger items like my barbecue not a deal breaker for sure but it'd be a nice tweak all right let's talk price this trailer is a premium offering with highend workmanship components and appliances and the level of standard equipment is impressive I'm thinking of that solar package so it's priced accordingly looking at us dealer sites in December of 2023 I'm seeing web prices in the mid to high 400s in US Dollars and this particular unit here in Canada is at 559 Canadian on the dealer website of course in this age of inflation those prices might changed but in terms of value I think this trailer Stacks up very well against other premium offerings in the segment I hope you enjoyed this video if you did please hit like And subscribe if you're in the market for a
