This is what we're looking for. Yes, indeed, this is it, girl. King of the Swamp Troy Landry and his partner Tes Lee enter the cypress strand, a section of the Glades known for its ability to retain moisture and attract wildlife. Look at the water back here. Being able to find these little pockets of water like this is gonna be a game changer for our hunting. I think we gonna find some snakes back here. One of Tes' friends was telling her about giant cypress trees in the middle of the Everglades and he recommended to Tes that we go hunt this area. There's these little grooves where, like, the cypress grows. It looks like it's high, but it's still got water in it. It's a soft bottom. Yeah, this is gonna be perfect to hunt. When it rains, these little sloughs or these runs fill up with water and it's a spot that the smaller animals and wildlife are gonna gravitate to to drink. So animals coming to drink come the snakes, so this really could be a great area to hunt pythons because I think they're gonna be surrounding the area. Okay, so, this where you wanna go, -to this big strand, you said? -Yeah, yeah. Keep an eye out on these air plants right here. Scorpions, you'll see frogs, little beetles. I've seen little snakes, cottonmouth snakes rolled up in them. Yeah, there's a nice little grasshopper right here. Air plants are notorious for their ability to grow without being rooted in soil. They're specially adapted to obtain moisture and nutrients from the air, often attaching to the bark of other trees. The long leaves provide cover for insects, scorpions, spiders, and centipedes. Troy, look, look right there. -You see him? -Oh, yeah. I think that's a good sign. He's probably hunting in this area right now. Oh, yeah, he knows this is where the animals are. We're gonna see snakes around here. He's not here for nothing. This is the grocery store right here. Oh, my God. -There's one right here, Troy! -Where? Troy, right here, right here. -Oh-ho. -Troy, look. Be careful. Don't let him get away. Don't let him get away in that water whatever you do. Can you see its head? I can't see its head. Oh, yeah, yeah, I see it in the sun, it's in the sun. He's getting away. Watch him. -Okay. -Watch him. Grab him, Tes. -I'm gonna grab him. -Don't let him get away. Grab him, grab him. -You got it? -Yeah. Okay, give me-- give me the snake, -give me the snake. -Holy crap. -You all right? -Yeah. -You okay? -Yeah. I thought it was pulling you in the water -for a minute. -It was, like, halfway in the water, halfway on the land, and... just, it shined just perfectly. This nine-footer is filled with eggs and will bring in close to $1,000, a very promising start for their hunting in the cypress strand. One, two, three. Good job, good job. I got it, I got it. We found a big female snake, and she's pregnant. I can't wait to cut her open and see how many eggs is in her. I'm seeing a lot of trails. Yeah, I've got some over here. After looking around for a while, we come across what looks like a pretty decent size snake trail. Now, it could be something else, but we're not seeing grab marks from claws where maybe it's a gator, so we suspect that this is a python trail. Tes, boy, this look like a snake paradise. Troy, you seeing anything over there? I ain't seeing nothing. Nothing yet. Hey, Troy, there's one right here! -What? Huh? -Troy, Troy, Troy. -He's gone back in here... -Where? Where at? Yeah-yeah, no-no, I just saw him... -In here? -Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's back in here. He just cut through all this stuff. I just saw his tail come through. Look, look, look, look, look. Look right there, look right here. Let's make sure he didn't go in there. Oh, man, that is huge. -Dude. -How far back does this go? I don't know. Be careful, okay? I don't know how far it goes. It keeps going. Oh, it goes all back in there, too. I guarantee he went in here. It was a good size snake. He definitely fits in this hole. You can see they going in and out right here, right here, right there. -Look right there on that side. -Oh, yeah. -Yep-yep-yep. -You can see they're going in and out of there. Gol. This is upsetting. They getting faster when we spot them. We losing more than ever. They adapting. In the past, we was told don't worry. You can talk and make noise. But it look like this year, when they hear us coming, they always one step ahead of us is what I'm trying to say. It's getting harder. You know how we normally talk to each other while we hunting? I'm wondering if we should try to talk a little bit less maybe. Yeah, and maybe move a little... a little quieter. Slower, a little slower, a little quieter. Despite the missed capture, Troy remains confident in the cypress strand. We lost it, but at least now, even though it got away from us, now we know that there's a snake right here. You think you could be a little bit more quiet? Hey, it's not me being quiet that's the problem. You're the-- You're the one who just yip, yip, yip, yip, yip, yip, yip. All right. [laughs] The trail makes a fork. Let's stay on this one. This looks like the most used. See that frog right there? The real nasty, dirty areas where we think the snakes are holding out during the daytime, I feel we do better going at night because all the animals come back out at night and the snakes feel comfortable at night and they moving more. Oh, look right here, look right here. -There's the trail. -You see it, you see it? -You coming? -Mm-hmm. -Tes! -What-what-what? Look at the eggs. This is old. This is from about a year ago. -Look at this. -Whoa. -Big ass skin. Look at that. -Oh, it's massive. Pull it out. Ooh, look at the size of this thing. -Yeah, this is not old. -This is fresh. I mean, we're talking a couple weeks. Oh, yeah, two, three weeks, -a month at the most. -Look at the scales on this. Yes, that's a big snake. This could be her nesting area right here. It's a little opening in the middle of a jungle. She can get sun, and the water's 20 feet away. Bet you she's right in this area. It's gotta be right on the water. -Oh, I think so. -You wanna hunt that area -a little bit? -I think we keep following the edge of the water. This discovery is exactly the boost the hunters needed to get through the night. Finding this nest means that there's a big female out here. Hopefully we're gonna be able to come across some snakes here and actually get them out of this area. We're in the right spot if we wanna catch a gravid female. I say we start moving. We gotta find this snake, man. We're just gonna revisit those areas that we maybe saw some sign, but were unsuccessful. You know, I think going back and tapping into that is gonna be smart because, you know, doublechecking your work you might find something. Hey, another couple of weeks, the way the water's evaporating right now, a couple of more weeks, this is all gonna be dry if we don't get no rain. The water's not quite as deep over here. Careful with this sawgrass. It's gonna chew your arms up. -Tes, Tes, Tes! -Yeah? Tes, over here, over here! Where, where, where? -Aw. -Hold on, hold on, hold on. -It's right here somewhere. -I'm coming, I'm coming, -I'm coming. -Right in here. This stuff's cutting me up. Where, where, where, where? I don't know. I just seen it coming under right between these two trees here. -Oh. -Where? Where'd he go? Where, where-- okay, where exactly though? -Let's regroup. -It was coming this way. It was between them two trees coming right where we standing right here. I seen it coming in this direction. It's gotta be right here somewhere. Look good in them trees. Look good right there. Look, look, look. He could be under all this stuff here. So just look under any branches or trees. It came right in here, right in this dirty stuff. Troy, he's right here, he's right here. He's moving, he's moving! -What? Where? -He's right here. -Look, look, look... -Oh! Look at the nest she got in here. -Gotta be full of eggs. -Get him outta here. We gotta get him out of this jungle. -Okay. -Oh, no, you ain't -getting away, buddy. -I got his tail. Massive. Holy [bleep], Troy, he's right on you. -Aah! This is a mean one. -Watch it, watch it! -Watch it! -Ooh-ooh. Watch it, Troy, watch it! -Whoo! -Aah! Oh, no, no, no, it's coming right for me. -I got him, I got him. -You got him? -Aah! -Yeah, yeah, yeah! [both laugh] No way. -Holy [bleep]. -What? -Holy crap. -Go get your bag. No, no, I got it here, I got it here. -Oh, yeah. -Okay, here. Tes wanted to come. She was determined to come back one more time, and it paid off. At the end of the day, we found another big giant female. With this one snake, we might be taking 50 out.
