Welcome to our series on the first ever living by Nature year course from the UK previously only available in the Netherlands I'm Adam Logan and I'm Sarah day along with Jamie Dakota we'll be your instructors as we follow the Journey of our 2024 cohort this year we've got seven participants on the course they're all from diverse backgrounds and various age ranges and they're all coming together to learn all kinds of skills for independent living in the woods our course Blends primitive skills with modern Bushcraft techniques so this is going to allow them to transition from the modern to the Natural this approach ensures that our participants are prepared for both contemporary outdoor excursions and true Wilderness Independence over the next 10 videos you're going to see their transformation as they acquire all of the skills necessary to build all of their own equipment from natural materials following completion of the course those who've shown the necessary skills and dedication will be invited on a 10-day expedition in the Wilds of Sweden where they'll put their new gear and skills to the test in this first video we're looking at highlights from weekend one so that's knife safety and all kinds of basic campcraft skills let's get startedin ones they go on you lay them up like this [Music] [Music] [Music] a [Music] probably one of the best almost anywhere in Europe and North America so this stuff I don't think native to America hello I'm Allison and I'm from leads and I'm doing the year course of living by Nature um I heard about it last year and I thought it sounded incredibly exciting I've done some green woodworking some Bushcraft but you you do a course and then you go away and you don't practice and you forget about it so the idea of learning skills and building on skills each weekend and reusing them and then learning more just sounded really brilliant and my favorite things about this weekend have been first of all the walks and the foraging and learning just there so much feels so much to learn about plants and their uses uh that has been lost and that I'd like to regain and the other thing I've really enjoyed is improving my light knife techniques making spoons making in the future being able to make other things H using wood my name is Millie and I am here for my own professional development I was recommended the course um by lots of different individuals who um already practice different elements of Bushcraft um one of the key things that was mentioned to me was how immersive this course is um and how it really takes you back to um the roots of of of where everything and all of the skills come from and I think being able to have the application at the end of the course so you've done all of the training and then you actually get to apply it in a setting not for survival but for for being able to thrive in a in in an environment that doesn't have any of the modc Cons with you that was something that really really sang to me at the end [Music]
