PACS attendees please welcome supergiant Orchestra [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] silence every word I can hear I can go suits me [Music] country everyone [Music] self-etch you're lucky struck me [Music] know any fun [Music] oh it's bigger [Music] we [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you thank you so much hello everyone thank you for coming to just to see the supergiant games Orchestra at PAX East 2020 I would like to hear a giant round of applause for Austin wintry who's conducting tonight we made this but that's entirely possible of course to my left Ashley Barrett and of course Darrin Corp responsible that's that's hard too hard to get used to that and then of course the incredible supergiant games Orchestra who I will introduce later in the night individually one by one I promise [Applause] so this whole crazy thing came together as a sort of idea for a way to celebrate 10 years of the existence of supergiant games so is our 10th year this year thank you so much sort of four games deep at this point and tonight you'll be hearing music from all of these games we're gonna take you on a little journey but we want to certainly want to surprise you so I'm going to tell you what's next they're gonna have to just come with me on this journey tonight we'll see how it goes let me uh this next one involves me playing a guitar so [Applause] okay then I think we're ready to proceed [Music] [Music] by the scribes [Music] [Music] [Music] from prayer for freedom wash your face [Music] you to overcome shell urges - braving justice to the stars the favor of the strikes [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] of all the pies who shall remain whose freedom shall be to fly this prison never [Music] [Laughter] [Music] thank you very much so that song was from fire which we came out with in 2017 it may in fact be the best game about wizard basketball ever made we'll see we didn't want the floor we don't know there might be one on the floor now that could topple it as the best was your basketball game but as far as I know the best one so thank you again and that first song was we all become from transistor I forgot to introduce that and that second one was called never to return and like I said was her basketball from pyre we're gonna take continue our journey this next song is not from pyre and that's the only hint you're gonna get until you hear it that's it I think this one's my favorite oh yeah that's a strong statement I know but it changes every single show [Music] I see the light [Music] on the baby falls away [Music] she [Music] most in the clouds like to use [Music] we never mind watching a song just on the edge of a dream moving so slowly to greet me tearing it all love it seems [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you so much that song was called she shines and it was sort of from transistor it's we released it in fact about a year after the game came out because we wanted to do something special for the Apple TV version of the game many of you I'm sure played that version specifically and anyway it was a really nice chance for me to sort of revisit the world of cloudbank and to have the opportunity to write a sort of love letter to that city in the form of this song she shines so we're just we're just doing it here we're going I mean we're chugging it-it's going too fast I don't want it I don't want it to go this fast tell more stories well okay this this next tune I will I'll give you a little intro for this next one how about that and we'll talk about what his next one I'll even tell you what game it is from it is from Hades okay some very enthusiastic Hades fans here I appreciate that yeah currently in early access on Steam and the epic game store you know we're we've been working on this game for a while and it's so much fun to work on it really is you know it's a game about the god of the underworld and you play his son and you're trying to run away from home because your dad's a jerk basically and that's about and you can play for like 150 you could play for a long time yeah you keep keep running away over and over and over again okay so we're going to do it this next song is called lament of war feeis [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] got some high notes in that one yeah I got a few look you buy ones in them thank you sound good you guys all sound good too this is a big contrast from what I normally do I'm normally like add a computer by myself so certainly a very different kind of thing and it's it's a real pleasure to be able to do something like this and thank you PACs for hosting us again for having us back yes feels like it's the last time yeah yeah yeah yes yes we'll see ya so this so these arrangements were shepherded by Austin and and and I am done by a gentleman named Brian LaGuardia who did an incredible job arranging everything and I'm really pleased with the way this next sorry I'm getting ahead of myself we're not doing that one yet oh my god you're not pleased I'm very pleased with how this one turned out it's for different reasons than I'm pleased with how the next one turned out which I'll describe after we do it how about that and I'm gonna chime in quick second here as Darin said normally alone in a room dark lights guitar maybe occasionally Ash will come and say yeah this is very very novel but as someone who is spent time around orchestras I just got to say how amazingly does this guy songs translate into this form he didn't realize that for the last ten years he's been writing some blur between operas and musicals just love it so my musical theater I did it as a child kind of coming out to play it it seems yeah but yeah so we're gonna we're gonna keep rocking here rocking I should say we're not really rocking we're doing a totally different thing the type of rocking yeah let's just let's just do it let's just do it okay I'll show you on the count of three we'll say it together [Applause] okay what if we would have said different ones I'm glad we said the same one we're on the same page okay [Music] fingers [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] twisting [Music] so come [Music] right [Music] what give me Oh [Music] close Cina [Music] [Applause] [Music] you know it twisted and time [Music] and that was from a transistor yes and it was recorded in your closet was yes that was the first song I wrote for transistor actually started it all the whole thing yeah come along come a long way yeah originally I wrote it and had a real different arrangement and was very different feel but it was basically it was the same more or less melodically the chords were the same just a real different vibe I wonder if that spurgeon exists somewhere ok I don't know it probably on a hard drive so this next one is the one I was talking about earlier when I was saying I was really pleased with how different the arrangement turned out yeah for how the arrangement turned out from the original and Brian LaGuardia did an incredible job really kind of going nuts with this one and really making it its own thing I'm very excited for you all to hear it [Music] see [Music] the [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] scary [Music] [Music] [Music] to [Music] [Music] in death she is her stain [Music] years [Music] thank you so much that one really taught me a lot of new vocabulary nautical not a clue theme so there's a lot of nautical terms proud yeah now I did I only know most of that stuff cuz I played a lot of D&D so you learn a lot of interesting turns cleaning dude Wow well yeah if it's squalls from you know what I knew it as koalas from other things but not the indeed so we're gonna do more songs but first before I forget I would like to mention we have some merchandise for sale outside in the back of the lobby and we will be there signing stuff until you know until we're done so come say hi afterwards and you know pick up we have vinyl and posters and things so we have a special poster for this concert actually that's just for this so so there you go okay we're gonna mosey on back the transistor land for this next one but do it another one of my favorites yeah yeah she can't make up her mind which one's a which one do you hate very controversial yeah trying to try to stir something up there Austin okay [Laughter] I hear you buzzes Oh fly on the wall in through the window [Music] just try I do what I can but [Music] you're looking for someone to blame [Music] you the drain [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] going so fast too fast oh well Darren puts his guitar I just want to say again thank you for all the music participating yeah it's been too while we're stopped for a second here it's been a real pleasure and honor to be able to do what I do for the past 10 years so thank you all so much for your part in that and for your support and everything it's really been an incredible journey and I can't wait to keep doing it you know indefinitely so that song was called in circles have you just played from a transistor and we're gonna do we have three songs left here that we're gonna do for you all don't worry the last ones very long so so don't you know it's more than it sounds like okay so we could do if we're gonna do a song from pyre now and it goes goes a little something like this when the stars align the rights shall come to bed dumain 8 the signs [Music] [Music] [Music] strands me [Music] circles [Music] g/b [Music] she'll come to be [Music] thank you very much it's almost all in the flame from fire so we have two more songs for you I just want to say thank you again to awesome wintry for helping out with this whole thing and conducting me doing that being an unstoppable force over there I'm just trying to keep up I'll just say again I mean obviously this is this is their show but I remember when I first went to the Game Developers Conference almost 10 years ago and and Darren gave a rundown of everything that he did on Bastion and it was obvious that you know this music was written in a bedroom recorded in a closet and and just humble origins to say the least and yet me and about the entire rest of the composer community and games we're just instantly blown away and so been a bit of fan I tell you you guys it's good there this is the most awesome seat to be at this show I gotta say so be jealous it's okay and and just thank you for having me man it's been the last year of putting this stuff together has been an absolute privilege thank you so much we have but two more songs I'm sorry I wish we could play forever but there's only so many songs yeah wait 10 years worth yeah the so ok we're gonna do a song our final transistor song of the evening coming up here and by process of elimination you may be able to figure out which one it might be so we're gonna we're gonna do it [Music] to the just like that [Music] the Lord [Music] you find me paper balls pudding and they would see we'll never be [Music] like the moon that makes the time the silent guy is calling from inside [Music] in person [Music] it's Oh [Music] control well [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] we have one more the really long one my favorite but this might be our oldest if you haven't yet guessed what it would be no we weren't gonna not do it that would be terrible if we were to not do it yeah and we recently did a show in London and it was incredible so fun but the audience sing along so if you could top that moment that they cool so sing along if you know the words if you don't that's okay too I'm just gonna do a little a little touch up on the tuning here to make sure we're everything sounds good goood yes thank you also now is the time this is our is our very last one now is the time I would like to introduce all these incredible musicians behind me no but these guys learned this like literally an hour ago yeah we are like two couple hours yeah they're incredible yeah they didn't sound amazing thank you so much okay starting on first violin we have two doors or nuts ku second we have alexandra levitskaya on viola we have Rebecca Halliwell on cello gently on bass we sell is moving back to the trombones we got Katie Doherty Rick Copeland and Spencer Chapman on Keys Holland Holland Albright's one make sure I get it right then and thank you Hollen for like stepping in at the last minute today Holland is killing it thank you yeah very much for that on percussion we've got hairy tongue and Hurston de la Rosa and then on flute clarinet and bass clarinet we've got Heather Cody and then a purse last but not least on like all of the woodwinds you can possibly imagine we have Kristin Nagus all the way here from Florida Kristin is awesome and she played on some awesome stuff and she's played on some Gareth Coker stuff and she you've definitely heard her in games that you I didn't see at all - she played with us in Seattle as well yeah she's she's fantastic and I want to thank a couple more people really quickly I would like to thank Nate horsfall who put together all the incredible visuals that you're seeing and also he's operating them like right now in real time like speeding up and slowing down to match the music and stuff it's insane I don't know how he does it and thank you again to Brian LaGuardia who did all these incredible arrangements and I'm so thrilled with how they turned out and for all of his hard work so thank you to Brian and one more time for often wintry everybody and of course pass the Barretts and the man who made it all happen dear important now you are too kind and of course one left so
