welcoming everybody to fantasy pros this is the fantasy football podcast it's me joey p joe pizzapia that of course is mike tagliere and it's you and today by popular demand you ask for it you keep saying enough with the mocks that aren't superflex we want a mock draft episode with the superflex where the quarterbacks matter the most important position in the nfl arguably it's where you want to start all your franchises and why shouldn't you want to value it more in fantasy so today that's what we're going to be doing we've got a full ppr superflex mock draft we've got a great guest lined up too tags you know me i'm mr superflex this is my bag it's my favorite format lots of different philosophies lots of different ways to approach it are you excited to shake things up a little bit for everybody i am i mean i think it opens the door to a new audience because i think a lot of people well not not necessarily opens the door but opens the possibility of leagues transitioning into superflex because we talk about auctions and how much how much more fun they are and how they're better formats but we don't it's not realistic to think that's going to go mainstream they just take too long there's a lot more prep involved whereas superflex really doesn't take much more prep it's just a different draft strategy so i do envision people just like ppr formats where it took a week it took a while for people to kind of catch up with the times and say all right we're going to transition into half ppr full ppr i think superflex will eventually become the norm so just getting your feet wet this year maybe just playing in a public league or something like that it can help you get the hang of it and figure out what you want to do it's a lot more fun because the drafts can range you know one draft completely completely different than the other whereas most snake drafts and one quarterback formats a lot of them are very similar all of a sudden pandora's box gets opened and it gets really interesting really fast and how people value those different players in this format really does change the dynamic of that and i thought who better today to have this draft with than somebody that i play in superflex leagues we play in that flex league all the time together he's a very tough out that is for sure he knows what he's talking about and you probably know him from ftn aka fade the noise you also know him from siriusxm radio from cbs sportsnet he's the one the only jeff ratcliff jeff welcome to the program my friend we appreciate you being here for a little mock action yeah i'm glad to be here and i agree i agree 100 with with tags here in terms of super flex with one notable exception uh if you're in a 14 team league don't go to super flex if you're in a 16 team league don't go to super flex it's 12 max if you are in a 10 team league don't go to superflex go to two quarterback just just go to two quarterback and i don't hate on eight team leagues i just think if you're an eight team league you need to go super deep so here i'm proposing this it is the year for eight team leagues to go to three quarterbacks oh baby a three quarterback league hey that's still only 24 starters everybody still gets a backup with 32 starting quarterbacks in the nfl i think it's the way to go make your eight team leagues very difficult doesn't have to be the the butt of a joke anymore i love this you just rock my world three quarterback league where do i sign up let's do this i think that's fantastic and and you're absolutely right though you nailed it the 10-team league should use the quarterback pool way more than it does and same thing with eight and it's better to have eight really passionate people in a lead together than eight and four who really don't care i think at the end of the day wouldn't you agree with that jeff yeah i mean i do like the four who don't care because their donations every single year good point you know that always gets me in december you know folks are like i want my league to be active and it's like why like it's playoffs why do we want to be active in december why are we not active in august maybe september i don't know the argument to me just doesn't make much sense but uh you know hey it's six and one half dozen the other joe the thing about fantasy football is there's beauty in all places so eight team league with three quarterbacks sign me up 12 team league with four donations sign me up i mean i'm in for whatever there you go and you can make those donations payable to jeff ratliff on twitter make sure you go and sign up right away for that so today as always when we do our mock drafts we're going to be using our draft wizard software the multi-user draft and that of course you can find at fantasypros.com draft wizard uh it's fantastic we we just did a live stream last week you saw how difficult it was to maneuver the four of us myself tags yates and dan were doing a mock together and it is tough man it is one of the more realistic sights and that's what's so good about it and it really does challenge you so you can get a couple friends together or a couple enemies as jeff like supported or some donation people and you can all get in together at fantasybros.com draftwizard just go to the mock draft lobby and get in that multi-user draft and uh there you go that's what we'll be using today as you will see and if you want to watch the draft board make sure you subscribe to our youtube channel fantasy pros because that's how look you can listen to this podcast but you want to see the draft board unfold you want to see who goes where that's the whole point so subscribe and make sure you click that little tiny cute adorable bell for notifications and of course uh tags and i are gonna be doing a whole lot more of these and we've got some pop-up mock drafts going on our discord channel at fantasypros.comchat so join there so you can get involved in our mock draft channel it's a whole channel just for doing this all day long and we pop in there as much as we can and host a bunch of drafts as well now that being said once again this is super flex full ppr tags uh we've also got a flex spot in this draft as well anything else any of the wrinkles you threw in i'm only hoping there's no defense no kicker right we don't play that no like jeff suggested you don't do with a 14 team league either it just gets messy at that point but it's a 12 team format full ppr one quarterback two running back three wide receivers one tight end one regular flex one superflex which means you don't have to use a quarterback in the netflix position which makes it a bit easier during bye weeks if you only draft two quarterbacks you can get by obviously during that time we're doing six bench spots no kicker no defense because again everyone on this show would be waiting until the last couple rounds to do it anyway so we might as well give you our late round sleepers rather than do that so uh now that dan's not running the board this time maybe i'll get a higher pick maybe you will before you hit go on the draft i want to get jeff's thoughts because this is superflex it's a perfect time to talk about it it is the carson wentz injury really didn't get a chance to really dive into it the foot injuries out there jeff uh we also got some news that uh nelson is going to be missing some time with a foot injury too on the offensive line so uh that's a pro bowl guard quit nelson too so that's a lot to be taking in how does this affect not only superflex but just the value of the cult's offense in your opinion jeff well carson wentz's timetable is the really interesting factor here because we do have a 5 to 12 week timetable which means in theory his rehab can start as early as two weeks from now in theory he could be back on the field for week one if not week two on that on that five week timetable the 12 number to me is very telling because the 12 number would put us seven weeks into the season which oh it's pup duh it's either gonna be he's gonna be back or they're gonna get a sense that they're gonna need to put him on the shelf for a while if he's on the shelf for a while i'm not worried about jonathan taylor i mean yes quentin nelson that sucks but they're they're gonna have to feed him the rocks so the volume is still gonna be there for him in early downs not in passing downs as we know but still a guy who could could very well be right up there at the end of the season when it comes to to carry's i'm not really worried about him i like to be greedy when others are fearful when it comes to fantasy football so saquon barkley jonathan taylor keep on falling to the back end of the first round i'll keep scooping them up as far as michael pittman is concerned though i don't know where this came from there's like crazy pitman love out there right now people are like should i keep pittman or tyreek hill and i'm like whoa how did we get this far if you're gonna have carson wentz on the shelf for six weeks potentially it's a really tough sell to to endorse michael pittman even as like an upside guy unless he's just going like crazy crazy late you just have to remember we're not playing for uh the entire season we're playing for 14 weeks of a regular fantasy football season in six weeks that's basically half of that regular season that's a long time to have a guy with jacob easton throwing him the football i don't know if there's much more to say taxi everything to chime in on that that's some pretty good math there from jeff it's just knowing who you're drafting with i mean if you're drafting with yates you're never going to get pittman anyways which is a it's a good thing in my opinion i was i was never drafting michael pittman even with carson wentz so this obviously doesn't help matters i do think it lowers jonathan taylor down my board a bit um just because like obviously quentin nelson losing him up the middle of the field they already had a question at left tackle we don't know if eric fisher is going to be ready for the start of the season um there's there's a couple question marks now on that offensive line and jonathan taylor again going back to the first 10 weeks of last season he did not he wasn't hitting the holes the way he was supposed to he wasn't creating yards and then he started seeing monster holes and he started to to to benefit from a cake schedule towards the end of the year i just don't think this offense is going to score as many points without carson wentz under center without quentin nelson there so again it just lowers his ceiling so i think i would rather take a safer bet i mean you're talking about guys like nick chubb who i thought should have been going in front of jonathan taylor all along i would take chubb 100 over jonathan taylor right now yes the chub club i am the president of the chub club and tags is finally joining me as the vice president it's nice to have you you can go read the minutes later after the show speaking of minutes we wasted too much time let's get to mock draft superflex ppr start the draft software taglier let's see where we are so tag is going to start us up here and we're going to find out where we are in this draft once again this is full ppr this is also super flex with a flex spot just to keep everybody kind of locked into what we're doing here and of course we're using that draft wizard software uh looking at where we are i am not team one i am not team two i am team three which means where is tags i don't know but jeff ratcliffe is pick number seven tags all the way at number ten so that should be fascinating there to see who falls to him and how he goes so away we go and here we are uh right off the top here mahomes and christian mccaffrey go very difficult here for me there's a lot of strain that makes me want to take dalvin cook instead i'm going to go a different direction try this i'm going to go with josh allen here who for me is actually right there along with patrick mahomes very close in terms of you know the upside in terms of the floor but also i love allen because he controls all the scoring on his team pretty much it's a touchdown pass from josh it's a rushing touchdown from josh allen if there's points for the bills unless he's not kicking a field goal that's the only way josh allen's involved with those points pretty much after that dalvin cook camara and kyla murray off and then pick number seven jeff you're on the clock it'd be lovely if i could pick but my computer is of course not cooperating right now i am just spinning and spinning and spinning so the beauty to uh doing these sorts of things uh it's slowly but surely getting there and uh it this is a great indicator of it it's time for me to get a new computer [Laughter] well just so you know too we'll talk you through it uh derek henry would be the i believe the auto pick here you also have elliott and adam so if you did have a way to go through it here oh you were able to actually pause that until you get in there so i am pausing it just just to make sure that i'm out in the show yeah yeah for sure no no i'd rather have that than than to worry about like to say hey that we're gonna that it auto-picks some somebody that just no that's annoying yeah so okay i'm in and yeah i am i am going with derek henry here um it's close between him and ezekiel elliott for me which zeke just continually he's continued to rise up my board uh as saquon has faded back as jonathan taylor has faded back but when you're talking about i i gotta ask the other day who's the safest running back or you know on the board right now there isn't one like there's no such thing as safe in fantasy football but if i was gonna say one it would be derek henry just because of the massive floor that he brings he's so gigantic you know i don't want to say anybody is uh not gonna get hurt but he seems to to hold up pretty well pretty darn durable so it was easy pick for me love it i'm big fan derek henry always have been always will be and as far as workload you know i know it's been huge but don't you think he's got one more in him it seems like don't you think just from what you've seen i didn't see any wear and tear at the end on henry did you jeff no i mean he put up one of his biggest games in the year to get up over 200 or 2000 yards for the season he's got a lot more to prove he's uh potentially has the record in sight now i know the purists out there are going to say that eric dickerson didn't play the same amount of games but still the record is the record and on top of that back-to-back 2000 yards would be quite impressive now of course that's a long shot i think you know 1500 yards though completely reasonable the one pitfall of derek henry is in the weeks where he doesn't catch or doesn't score a touchdown he's gonna be a problematic fantasy option because he'll go 18 for 80 and won't catch a pass or he'll catch one ball for five yards and he won't be a top 10 fantasy running back but those weeks fortunately are few and far between okay so after the little hiccup there elliott ends up going to jeff but again we're very close in terms of the picks there didn't get the henry pick in time but henry's how he would have gone jeff when we're talking about players that are ranked though too how close do you have elliott and henry also they're back to back okay and henry at four l8 at five they're in the same tier for me ultimately i do have a top tier of two i do think it's pretty easy at the top with christian mccaffrey and dalvin cook and then after that when you're talking about running backs kamara is there elliot is in that tier so is henry it's six six in uh one and a half dozen in the other for me and you know whatever i'll take i'll take elliot here uh but i don't think there's any any reason to split hairs all right uh after that we got adam's going all the way at 111 after tag so tags passed on devonte adams for dak prescott uh not not shocking here it is the superflex but that hard to hurt like every fiber in your being tags and then after that you got barkley taylor eckler so you're up for another pick here walk us through uh dak and walk us through your next one yeah fortunately you know it worked out the way i had hoped because there was gonna be four picks in between my next one and there's definitely a top tier quarterbacks and it was dak i i think russell wilson's closer than people think he is uh but either way dak is definitely there so i was basically saying all right if i take dak here i'm hoping that aaron jones falls to me i have aaron jones as the rb6 in my rankings right now i've been tempted to put him at number five uh you know a guy that's finished top five in each of the last two years now losing jamal williams adding aj dillon in a ppr format this is a good thing for aaron jones obviously aaron rodgers coming back is a good thing uh so getting him here in the second round i feel pretty good about it's just i don't like being near the turn i love where jeff's at in this draft he's at 206 now where it's he's able to see the trends taking place in the draft they can kind of adjust his strategy on the fly whereas me i kind of have to start those trends sometimes all right jeff you are here uh and you made your pick so who is it at 206 this is a little bit of a surprise tyree kill is available at this point i love taking him again a top tier of of wide receivers i have him obviously devonte adams and and stefan diggs in that in that after last year as well and you know hey i said this last year it would surprise nobody now i exaggerated a little bit i said it would surprise nobody if tyreek hill went out and had like 300 yards and uh three or four touchdowns well he almost did that against the tampa bay buccaneers uh he absolutely towards carlton davis in that game and so now i love getting him in the second round of a draft like this comes back to me and i'm gonna have some fun here let's go a little stacked stefan diggs so this team is either gonna stay healthy and be great and if one of them gets hurt i'm gonna be a very sad boy because uh the pairing of diggs and allen was very good last year now i have a choice to make because after this i've got tom brady off the board calvin ridley off the board jefferson off the board could go to another big wide receiver with deandre hopkins just load up there go with the lesser running back theory possibly but you know what i like a little bit of balance there is a guy that i like it's gonna upset tags or make him proud of me either way i'm happy so clyde edwards alaire is gonna be the guy for me i'm gonna take him there i do think he's got that fringe rb1 upside this year in that often so we'll see if we can make that work uh then after that we got hopkins going immediately after russell wilson d.k metcalf and jeff back to you for 307. that's an easy one for me uh slamming wide receiver yet again keenan allen with this pick being that it is ppr we know you know does he have massive touchdown upside probably not does he have massive yardage upside probably not but does he have triple digit catch potential i mean can we write that in ink right now of course he does in in this format as my second wide receiver absolutely love it love it okay look you're you're definitely uh showing us an interesting way here of going through because if correct me if i'm wrong so far we have not taken a quarterback so jeff's got a plan let's watch how that unfolds because we've all got different approaches here because we're different spots of the draft and this is very useful to everybody watching and listening to the show here kittle goes at the turn again one of tag's favorites goes by in favor of alan robinson so robinson the 310 pick back to you for another one in the beginning of the fourth round tax yeah i didn't think that uh i didn't think kittle was gonna come off the board i was hoping he wouldn't uh that he would last but alan robinson i needed to get a wide receiver one here in a ppr format and robinson is the tail end of those for me uh and then you get into the guys like now who i'm considering is like a cd lam a guy that we're expecting to take that leap in the second year and he has been creeping up i've actually flip-flopped him and amari cooper in my rankings and moved lamb up into the spot because he's just someone that it's we talked about godwin in 2019 we talked about calvin ridley in 2020 i think it's cdlam this year where he's the one that that you want as a budding superstar i again i do have dak prescott i don't aim for the stacks or anything like that it's just more about the way that my roster falls i take value when it's presented to me and again cdlam if we're talking about him as a top six wide receiver next year it wouldn't shock me at all obviously amari cooper is going to uh he's he's probably no longer going to be with the team um and honestly i'm a little worried about cooper having the ankle surgery back in january and still not being practicing with the team so uh cdlam taking a big step forward they're gonna move around the formation a bit more should open up some bigger game potential uh on the perimeter so getting him at 403 i know i took him a little bit early but i definitely like having his my wide receiver too if you didn't take cdlam there we'd have words after the show uh after that uh montgomery goes jalen hurts goes and then it goes back to jeff ratcliff who gets on the board with the quarterback jeff who was your selection matthew stafford now i know he did bang his uh thumb on a helmet the other day here in practice but ultimately i'm not really too overly concerned with that at this point you know talk to me in a week from now maybe i'm feeling differently but i'm going to take the risk on the upside i just have to point out that jared goff had two 4600 yard seasons in this offense and now we have matthew stafford in the offense so i want to go after a quarterback after 10 or off the board 10 we're off the board so it's time to hit the position oh look i think that's a tremendous value there that was that the guy that you were hoping as the draft was unfolding that's kind of your guy like if i can get stafford as my qb1 i feel good about that i don't really approach drafts that way no i i want to get a quarterback after tenor off the board for my first quarterback and uh whoever it is i'm happy to grab i do think that there's a lot of drafts out there in home leagues where stafford will be a top 10 quarterback so maybe you wouldn't be in the wheelhouse for me but i'm happy to take somebody at the higher end of of that spectrum of 10 to 20 in my rankings all right so after that uh i was able to take chris carson who was the guy that i wanted trevor lawrence went woods etn miles sanders go off the board you know we're losing some quarterbacks here so that's that's kind of the spot now do i want to go for the second one do i want to go with the wide receiver it's some of the tampa guys who i feel a little worried about so right now i don't see a lot of separation in these second quarterbacks but instead i'm going to load up with another wide receiver that i think is grossly undervalued and once again tax is either going to love me hate me either way julio jones is now on my roster as my second wide receiver and i feel pretty good about this diggs julio it's a nice setup i got my two running backs i got my big time quarterback so now it's about kind of approaching that next super flex spot there with maybe the quarterback talent that seems like a lot of pocket passer guys not a lot of separation there mike evans goes amari cooper goes jeff you're back on the clock for 507. and so i'm a man of my word those who listen to the radio show those who listen to the podcast know my exact strategy wait until 10 or off the board then hammer the position likely in back-to-back rounds especially if you don't think that another quarterback before rank 20 is going to be on the board for your following pick so i take joe burrow here i think this is going to be a high volume passing offense with a lot of 11 personnel you're set up with t higgins you're set up with jamar chase you have tyler boyd this is a really nice situation we know how much borough passed last year and i know i know they didn't upgrade oh wait yes they did actually upgrade the offensive line riley reef okay bring in a veteran presence but jackson carmen is a really solid addition eventually could take over at right tackle for this team i love it man i love what what uh joe burrow has the potential of doing for fantasy purposes he was on my board on my cue i was going back for between him and julio but you ended up with him at the end of the day tags deante johnson one of your favorites goes right before you but you end up with daryl henderson at 510 and then back to you for six where are you in the sixth round yeah daryl henderson it just feels like his his ecr adp none of it's caught up to where it should be yet um it's getting closer uh because he's not a smash rb1 play but you know with no cam acres there the beat reporters are saying that he is the clear-cut number one that there's a distant uh second between him and xavier jones so unless they sign someone when when cuts are made around the league and again if a running back's cut he's not considered a top-tier talent um so i'm i take getting daryl henderson as my rb2 in the fifth round feels pretty good uh and then i grabbed kirk cousins i selected him over matt ryan because well kirk cousins is continually undervalued particularly in uh in superflex 2kb formats because he's not losing that job barring injury and no i don't care that they drafted a quarterback he's not losing that job and he is like he posted better numbers than matt ryan last year and that's when matt ryan had julio jones for half the season so uh kirk cousins is the easy pick for me underrated undervalued just you know try to get through september you know and after september things usually get pretty good for him uh after that you take one of my favorites here jeff uh i believe you took t higgins here with the 606. so walk me through that selection yeah well it would have been a toss-up between him and joe burr or not joe burr brandon and iuke here but because i just took the aforementioned joe burrow i figure out get the stack in this in this lineup uh it can be beneficial to do so people have asked me do i intentionally go out to stack no i i don't i'm not going to force the issue if it's not there but if the opportunity presents itself it's a strategy i'm willing to deploy certainly right here i think both higgins and uh jamar chase are going to kind of be a one and one a situation there for this team where they're going to see about equal targets may not be the uh smoothest ride through the season but the ceiling is very high with higgins you can never have enough running backs mike davis is my third one i will go ahead and take him after that at the turn you get kyle pitts and josh jacobs chase edmonds goes off the board next which pushed me back looking at the quarterbacks i took a little chance there that matt ryan would make it back to me he did i will take matt ryan now as my second quarterback so uh got a couple falcons there now all of a sudden that doesn't necessarily make me feel super excited but alas again value on the board that's what we're looking at so matt ryan my second there my quarterback my third running back with mike davis those are my two picks beckham smith shuster cortland sutton go that's to you and you went running back here jeff i did i prefer younger running back so essentially this draft allowed me to punt my second running back spot sometimes it doesn't work out that way because there's good value in say the second round at the position there wasn't when i was up i would prefer tyree kill there so i went down this pathway and javonte williams sitting here at this point in the draft he may not be the lead back in september and i am willing to take that chance he is the superior player for uh you know in that backfield melvin gordon aging devonte williams a three down back who really was only a few picks behind the the first round guys you know okay he didn't go in the first round he went at the very beginning of the second round he is a a premium talent and i'm happy to take him in the spot and as the draft unfolds what's so cool about the draft wizards you get the insights that tells you what's going on here in terms of how many teams still need a tight end how many still need a quarterback and that's again another great thing about the draft wizard that allows you to do all that and that's what's so great about attaching the draft uh wizard to your draft and actually going along with you to all your drafts because it'll tell you what's going on there who's got what and kind of advise you on your pick so the insights are a huge addition to the draft wizard also some big additions to tags his team here uh seven and eight uh tags where are you going all right so i went with miles gaskin making dan harris proud of me i knew that that's his guy um and to be fair in the seventh round at the end of the seventh round to get a running back that has the potential to have 16 plus touches is kind of remarkable and an offense that should move the ball a bit better with the pass catchers they've added and speaking of which the pass catchers are they're like all injured so um that might be the case throughout the year but miles gaskin undervalued right now um and then the eighth round this is the first time i've ever drafted this guy in a draft because i feel like he i typically avoid middle round tight ends i i don't draft them because a lot of time it's just a waste of time but now here in the eighth round to get tj hawkinson a guy that should see a hundred and ten plus targets this year targets are everything's tight ends and i'm not going to sit here and pretend that hawkinson is going to compete with george kittle or travis kelsey or even darren waller i'm saying that he's going to finish as a top six tight end by default uh when you get that much volume in his skill set to be fair it does match jared goff much more than the wide receivers that they've added there so um hawkinson i'm not excited about him but to get him in the eighth round it just feels too easy to pick who are you what have you done with tags getting around tight end i don't even know who you are anymore all right let's go to you here jeff for your next pick because you also went tight end i believe yeah and i i think calling those guys unfortunately wide receivers might be a bit of a stretch sorry detroit fans what about quintus uh anyway i'm taking dallas goddard in this range uh hawkinson is a really nice value here this is actually on value with where i have goddard some people are going to be worried about zachary's yes there could be some cannibalization but at this point in their careers goddard is the superior player plus the eagles have some major question marks at wide receiver devante smith already banged up jalen rager had some off-field stuff in personal life and very sad stuff that he came into camp not necessarily 100 percent there yet i don't know how long that it takes him to get back but you figured dallas got her is going to be heavily involved right away and and i like the spot at a notoriously tricky position the draft wizard showing how tough it is i took jerry judy which was exactly where i wanted to go and then i thought maybe i'll be sneaky here and take trey lance as my third quarterback and see what happens now now trey lance is off the board so is cook so is boyd so that goes back to me whether or not i want to get another running back here get some more depth and i think i will because you just can't have enough running back so i filled all that out i'm gonna take a shot on ronald jones we had a big debate yesterday about ronald jones and fournette just gonna get more bodies once again there's that extra flex spot you gotta worry about that and uh all the measurables lean towards jones we'll see if the playoffs and playoff lenny come back and ruin this pick i don't know i'm gonna take one more running back because i see after this where things are going and it's not in a good direction which puts jeff back on the clock here after devos samuel curtis samuel no more samuels jeff i'm sorry you can't take a samuel yeah i'm really bummed about that um but i'm gonna take a quarterback because again i'm a man of my word and the checklist says once 24 quarterbacks are drafted we draft our our next quarter our third quarterback and i'm going to shoot for upside for a guy who has absolutely no competition for the starting job and zack wilson sure he's going to be a rookie in an offense that is certainly rebuilding but he's got some good surrounding talent and hopefully a bright offensive mind at the reigns and offensive coordinator so for me easy one all right tags you are up on the clock right now at 9 10. so after wilson that goes brown another tags favorite waddle goes off the board tags you are now on the clock yeah antonio brown was the target here 100 um and i was ticked off to hear jeff pass on him and then see him go to pick after him i didn't pass on him oh i didn't pass on him they're going to be running a lot of 12 personnel i did not pass on him okay so i'm going to go with a guy that jeff basically he took the running back on this team two rounds ago i believe melvin gordon is he went from the point to where he was a little overvalued with the broncos to the point where he's now undervalued there's some beat reporters saying that he's still the number one on this team do i expect javonte williams to eventually get there and be the primary back yeah but at the same time this they showed last year that this is a mixed backfield with philip lindsay and melvin gordon and gordon's been one of the best goal line running backs for the last five years in the nfl so i have no issue with that and it allowed me because basically i was torn between corey davis and mike williams uh to to fall to me here knowing it's my wide receiver three position i'm gonna have to go with corey davis i've talked about him uh being undervalued in drafts right now as the clear-cut number one for the jets obviously elijah moore he took some reps with the ones today was the first time that happened which i expect him to be a big part of that offense but corey davis you don't sign him to the money that they did and then kind of just put him off to the wayside he's seeing 100 plus targets so having him as my wide receiver 3 he may not come with top 10 upside but as a wide receiver 3 in the 10th round i'm happy mike williams did not make it to me which i am upset about but after uh you took corey davis most dirt for necco off and then michael carter goes to jeff so you got your jet quarterback your jet running back here so i feel like you're gonna be watching a lot of jet games potentially with this team well i watch every game every game every week my name is sorry i'm sorry you had to watch every jet game that's that's the beauty of the nfl is that even the worst teams are are still in the nfl and they're still very fun to watch michael carter a lot of appeal i took both north carolina backs not not a plan but i want to get some upside at the position and uh old men in december at running back typically don't win fantasy championships it's usually these young guys who do so i'll take a shot on it all right i'm gonna go take my third quarterback who's a safer quarterback derek carr who just doesn't seem to get any respect no matter how good he plays and john gruden doesn't even give him respect but no matter what he still can't get rid of him uh the pick insights are telling me too right now that four teams need a starting tight end before my next pick which is good to know but everybody who knows me knows i'm gonna be waiting on that stuff uh now it's about taking some shots i feel like where's the upside what are you looking for and darno mooney's a player that i like quite a bit i think the quarterback play is going to be upgraded automatically there with dalton or fields in chicago so i'll take mooney here it's a good spot for him in terms of value some other names on the board maybe like a me call hard maybe a little riskier so i'm going to be a little safer here and take uh darnell mooney which puts you jeff now on the clock for 1107. yeah i agree with you on nicole hardman i think something to note that people keep overlooking they had the opportunity to put him in sami watkins role and they chose byron pringle last year true so i don't know why we expect and nicole hartman has already come out and said i want to prove myself to the coaches okay you need to prove yourself to the coaches all right that's telling us something right here uh so i go with devante parker i don't love it but at the same time i do believe in tuatanga viloa to take a step forward he is a bigger bodied receiver who can potentially be a red zone presence he's not going to maybe have the big plays that you might see out of jalen waddle or certainly will fuller but consistency there hopefully in the red zone is what we're getting and at this point i mean we're in the 11th round i have a good idea who tags might be taking here next but i'm going to see if if he goes ahead and does it here at 11 10 tags i'm gonna i'm gonna make a yates special pick uh cam newton here oh not what i thought was gonna happen maybe the next one is all right so newton there after that taysom hill and tyler higby before it makes it back to you for 1203. so take me through newton in the next one all right so this one i'm not i'm not even screwing around i you guys know too much about this game you guys know too much about sleeper appeal and i am just going to skip all this crap and i'm going to say i'm going to take elijah moore right here i'm not gonna i'm not gonna wait any longer elijah moore i mean i know i have corey davis jeff and i apparently are gonna have team jets and i'm cool with it like a lot of people the reason that the jets are coming as values is because people still think for whatever reason the jets suck just because adam gase was there for a couple years adam gase is gone this is a brand new regime it's like a whole new team honestly they've rebuilt the entire skill positions and i'm excited about the team actually for the future elijah moore is one of those guys that he's going to earn that role he's going to they're going to manufacture touches for him they're gonna treat him like a maybe like a debo samuel i could see him even mixed in as like a third down back for them just to get the ball in his hands as a playmaker so getting him in the 12th round tons of sleeper appeal all right he took some he takes him excuse me over uh crowder who we've had that discussion about yesterday as well jeff you are up next what pick did you go ahead and make here so i went with tony pollard and i do want to just briefly mention the san francisco 49ers were not particularly good before uh kyle shanahan took over so it can changes can happen very quickly in the nfl uh i would have taken tony pollard here even if i do it did have derek henry on this roster this is not an actual handcuff play this is a play on the implied value of pollard in this offense if elliot goes down we know because we saw he has number one potential in any given week in that backfield so an easy one at this point this is about where he should go regardless of whether or not you have elliott all right uh coming back to me here i'm gonna go ahead and take another running back once again there's two wide receivers that i like so we'll see which one makes it back to me i'm gonna take jamal williams and see what happens there i've been hedging my bets quite a bit with that detroit backfield it's not that i don't like the talent of swift i'm just a little concerned that there's more going on there again the concussion issues i'm always going to mention them because i think they need to be mentioned now it's a matter of where to go next with wide receiver do i go with a little bit of upside you know the last one i thought mooney was kind of a safe pick so let's have some fun here let's take one of tag's favorite guys who i thought for sure was gonna go but no he took more instead so i'll take rashad bateman and see what's what and how that works out and i feel pretty good about that after that latavius murray alexander madison phil blinsey so i'm glad i took williams when i did a little running back run happens there jeff you're back on the clock for 1307. yeah i like rashad bateman i think he could easily lead that uh that team in targets by the way but i i'll i mentioned uh jalen rager at this point he's slipping a little bit too far so i will take him off the board i don't think we can judge anything on last year for any rookie in the nfl truly it wasn't the it was an unprecedented year plus the fact in philadelphia they had five overturned trash cans or offensive linemen that literally broke their quarterback so that by the end of the season he couldn't even see a wide open receiver so we'll see what happens this year he still has the speed he still has all the juicy flash to tsu or tcu that is all the juicy flash that's what you need baby tariq and kevin coleman go uh tags you went ahead and took cole beasley and then after that we had the turn of penny and gainwell bernard and then back to you for 14.03 yeah i'm kind of loading up on wide receivers here because obviously you know after having alan robinson cd lam i felt really good about that start but then i ended up waiting you know i think five or six rounds for my next wide receiver which was corey davis which is fine as my wide receiver three but i'm trying to stack some upside down there elijah moore cole beasley presents like a more the platoon guy a guy that you could play when you know that the bills are going to go past heavy most people don't realize that cold beasley has been like a top 36 wide receiver in each the last two years and that's in half ppr formats you go to full ppr he's worth a little bit more and then in this round instead of taking sterling shepherd who i believe is a value i'm going to go for the upside play because again i know who i'm drafting with and i know some of these guys might not make it back to me especially on the turn here so i'm going to go with jacoby myers the guy that i've talked about as the potential number one for the patriots a guy that was the number 23 i think fantasy wide receiver over from weeks basically when he took over for julian edelman from week 7 through 17 despite not scoring any receiving touchdowns he was the number 23 or 24 wide receiver during that time so you know potentially getting an upgrade whether it be cam newton playing better or mac jones taking over as a starter jacoby myers could be worth a hell of a lot more than the 14th round pick ty hilton and john brown go next jeff you're on the clock for 1406. yeah we're gonna play the the michael thomas injury here and go with traequan smith i i you know traequan smith i keep calling him a pg-13 guy from swingers like we really want him to do it but he's not a rated r guy right yeah but the thing is he's going to have a prime opportunity now whether thomas lands on the reserve pup or not the saints like reported that he was on the reserve pup and everybody lost their minds and they were like oh wait that's a mistake he's on the active pup he's on the active pup but still there's a prime opportunity for him to take a step forward and if jameis gets the job jameis is a downfield guy trequan can do a little bit for you there as well so it's not a bad shot to take at this point in the draft we'll see if the saints can get that offense on track or they're just gonna beat around the bunny another swinger's reference for you there all right tight end finally i gotta take one so i think my guy johnny smith why not uh once again it's it's the late tight ends that's what i'm looking for that's where the value is because there's so much value on the board when it comes to wide receivers and going through here as tags were saying before meyers actually the guy in my queue who i was looking at now kind of up against it here and you know what i'm going to take a guy that was actually a round or so ago i was looking at in sterling shepard i'm going to take him here value volume sure why not uh and in terms of kenny goliday coming off the field today with an injury we'll see how that goes but stirring shepherd i feel pretty good at least of what his role is in the offense even though daniel jones has his limitations to put him mildly ingram mac garoppolo go off the board next and then 1507 jeff you're up next yeah i'll take cole comet in this spot we saw comet essentially double up jimmy graham and targets over the final game five games of the season last year uh kid who maybe came out a year early from the college level but has the athletic chops that you want and the thing is the sky is the limit for this offense once justin fields takes over we don't know when that's going to be matt maggie's holding his line here of andy dalton is our starter but once we see fields in that offense looks completely different and that's where i think we get that upside out of cold commit all right there you have it cole commit another one of my favorite guys uh him jarwin janu those are the dudes that i keep looking for uh tags who was your last pick there because it went you made it and now the draft is over yeah my final pick was blake jarwin ah my other favorite tight end yay all the late tight ends go off a lot of people think that the wide receivers are going to hold him back from being a breakout tight end he's they're not the player that actually could hold him back is actually dalton schultz did dalton schultz earn a bigger role in this offense because of what he did last year filling in that's the biggest question i have it's not the wide receivers there are plenty targets available we saw dalton schultz finish i think is the tight end 13 last year in a backup role not taking over until week two obviously playing with a backup quarterback for 10 of the week so um blake jarwin in the late rounds it's like you're gonna find out what you have immediately with him there you go i like that last pick let's go i got a b plus 88 out of a hundred usually the draft wizard does not care for my drafts but this one a little bit more positive which is good so a little b positive action there 88 out of 100 uh tags what did the draft wizard grade you it did not like me so this this this uh so i got an 80 out of 100 i got a b minus so this is like the first time i think i've lost a joe in anything oh this is fantastic jeff i hope you can get a hundred now as long as i'm ahead of tags i really don't care what the rest of the day says jeff what was the draft wizard grade for you got an a minus 90 out of 100. look at you the money in the bank look at him hammering the quarterbacks at the end uh or not at the end but hammer and the quarterbacks after the top 10 as we were talking about when you look at the projected standings here on the draft wizard uh it says jeff radcliffe has a third best team i have the fourth tags all the way at eighth you know tags you call yourself an analyst and an expert but i don't know if eight's really going to get it done but in joking aside i kid because i love you but but tags why do you think uh the draftwizard comes up with a projected grade what do you think that you saw in your roster now looking back on it that would say okay yeah there's some projectability here that maybe i see that maybe the projections don't i mean i feel good about going into a season with this team i think the part of the reason that my score is down is i i did according to the draft wizard i reached a bit on daryl henderson which again i think people are undervaluing him it also said that i reached a little bit on someone like miles gaskin so if they don't like them corey davis is outside the wide receiver three range in most people's rankings so again i expect some of that but this is more a team that i would build myself then i'm actually pretty confident i don't think there's really a weak spot on the team what dak prescott uh and kirk cousins is my quarterbacks two stable presences i have a top three upside quarterback i have a stable high-end qb2 i've called cam newton on the bench a guy that can obviously when he has a starting job he's gonna be a top 15 quarterback most weeks uh aaron jones miles gaskin as my starting running backs with daryl henderson and the flex melvin gordon on the bench and then going to wide receiver allen robinson cd lamb corey davis cole beasley elijah moore jacoby myers and t.j hawkinson and blake jarwin a tight end so again i don't dis like this team i actually do like it i felt like the depth was solid too so um again it's more important to like your team but i did like i did notice as jeff was going through his draft i thought he crushed it javonte williams went a little early for my taste but i still his team is really really good yeah no look i'm looking at this roster as a roster i would certainly go to war with and now that the draft wizard gave you a b minus this will be the one and only time you will see tags take a a mid-level tight end he will never do it again and watch this is it this is totally done jeff let's go through your roster if we may and now in our brains we know in our hearts it's derek henry not ezekiel elliott so we just got to reprogram that but elliott did make it onto the roster because we just didn't quite get to it on time but take us through the rest of the roster here and your thoughts on it well yeah as i i mentioned in the second round i didn't really like the the value at running back as much as i did at wide receivers so that's why i went with tyree killed there and then it sort of opened up this pathway to to punt my second running back because i knew very likely you know drafting with guys like you guys i know that probably i'm going to be drafting a quarterback in the fourth round usually that's when 10 to 12 are off the board and that means i'm going to very likely be drafting quarterback in the fifth round so that means i'm not going to get back to running back for a while and that's exactly why i went with javontae williams i did have my i do have miles gaskin ranked a tick ahead of him but here's why i made the pick i don't follow rankings strictly i think that's a problem that a lot of even intermediate level uh drafters kind of grapple with on draft day like well he's ranked higher so i have to draft him well no not necessarily they're they're ranked in that range because we literally have to put somebody at running back 22 and somebody running back 23 when the reality is maybe they're both running back 22. maybe they're both like the same guy but there's some differences between them and the thing that's different between them is i'm a little concerned miles gaskin can't hold up to a full workload he showed it last year that he couldn't necessarily hold up he's slightly under size whereas williams the knock on him is that he may not be the lead back right from the gate i'd rather lean that direction in this instance here where i was going to take him as my second running back uh as opposed to you know hey if gaskin if there was an instance where maybe he was my third running back maybe i got a running back early and then he's sitting there he's still crazy good value i'd be inclined to do so so it really dictated that from there though my goal is just to really scoop as much value as possible every time there's a value player who's a little bit higher on my board than uh they they should be i'm going to take those guys and with the eye on higher ceiling whether that be through big play upside or as i mentioned with devonte parker with touchdown upside yeah and i think jeff you could also say that rankings aside it's also the groups and tiers that you've got and then looking at the construction of your roster right well you know these guys are kind of close but i want the upside guy because my roster can support it or i've got a lot of risk already maybe i want to take a little bit more of a boring character that kind of fits in that i know the floor every week doesn't that kind of enter into that psyche as well not just the rankings but also the right player on the right team and the right roster at the right time exactly and there's a little bit of feel to that joe that's the one thing that again if you're even an intermediate level drafter if you're only doing your home leagues and you may be running simulation mocks like this this is cool but it's different when you're actually in that draft it's different when you invite the variables of humans into the equation right humans can do crazy stuff on draft on draft dates and our job is to react to that so how do we how do we navigate those waters i often equate it to guys who play golf right you go out you play golf three times a year guess what if you break a hundred awesome but you're going to continue to be that golfer for the rest of your life if you play 20 times a year first time you go out maybe you shoot a 95 maybe you break 90 then you get close like low 80s if you're really playing a lot working on your game well how do we work on our game in drafts we don't want to be the the drafter who does the same thing every year just because we're drafting three times a year we're not practicing not a game right practice so how do we practice the easiest way to do so we have this wonderful invention in fantasy football called best ball where you can draft 20 times you don't have to worry about managing those rosters and you don't have to do so for high stakes it's a great resource that not enough drafters out there are tapping into it's a great way to practice with something on the line a hundred percent and i think that that's that's the beauty of the best ball like you're saying you could play for five bucks ten bucks it doesn't matter and you get people who are at least have some kind of stock in the game where sometimes in certain mock drafts there are people who are you know kind of looking a little bit of just trying something out to see but what's nice is that the draft wizard you could try out a lot of things to see and then take that knowledge over to basketball over to these multi-user drafts and things like that and draft against guys like tags myself too over on discord and put those practice reps to work practice reps very important just to run through jeff's team for you who are listening and not watching on youtube which why aren't you watching on youtube again subscribe fantasy pros come on we're almost at 100 000. we could get there let's go to the subscribers matthew stafford quarterback elliott who should be derek henry javonte williams tyreke hill keenan allen t higgins uh dallas goddard michael carter joe burrow then on the bench we've got zach wilson davonte parker tony pollard cole comet jaylen rager and traequan smith with the last pick a lot of value there potentially with traequan uh for me look started off with josh allen very happy there uh my second quarterback okay it's fine i will live with matt ryan as my second quarterback i think he could do a lot worse he's always going to be in that fringe between you know low end qb1 high end qb2 more likely high-end qb2 i think this year but who knows maybe kyle pitts blows us all away third quarterback on this team is derek carr another safe quarterback i'm not really worried about him losing his job any time soon the running backs on this team after the qb's i've got clyde edwards lair and chris carson as my two starters feel pretty good about that those are kind of where i like to live you know in the superflex give me two of those high-end number two guys that i feel good about the volume feel good about the upside in terms of wide receivers stefan diggs julio jones jerry judy a very exciting bunch as far as i'm concerned those are definitely three of my guys quote unquote uh johnny smith is the tight end uh in my flexbot i've got mike davis the volume king again there's risk there i know it we all know it but there's also some upside too we had a big discussion on yesterday's show you can go back and listen to demand on mike davis so back that up with ronald jones and jamal williams at the running back position and then the wide receiver bench players darno mooney sterling shepard and rashad bateman tags anything stick out to you with that roster that you want to hammer me on or or dare i say compliment but probably not no i'm still in shell shock from losing to you in a mock draft or anything for that matter you say it one more time i just want to hear no okay no it's the last time you're gonna hear it joe it's not my birthday was yates's birthday yesterday but again overall you know this is what's so great and and the better group of people that you got to mock draft against we always say right steal sharp and steal that's what you want to do you want to draft against the best mock against the best then you go into your home leagues and then you crush that stuff that's what we always try to do here uh jeff once again i can't thank you enough for all your time of course you can always follow jeff on the twitter machine at jeff radcliffe and check out all the stuff they've got going on at ftn fantasy including your serious xm show what else you got going on here jeff i know it's august and you're trying to figure out maybe maybe hey guys because people will call in and there's it's just me and they'll say hey guys that's awesome i love that you're like are you even listening to the show no do you ever ask that is the best like you're not listening you just know the number and you're waiting to call because you know i'm on at that time right that's pretty much it and they want they want answers to their questions but that's why we're here hey if they didn't have the questions we wouldn't have a job so i appreciate it anyway all right uh and of course tags just dropped the boom bust
