Anyone can learn how to make sour cream! And if  you call it creme fresh your friends will think   you're fancy. Come into my kitchen  and I'll show you how to make it.   Wait! I wanted to share with you June is  National Dairy month and I've teamed up with the   inquisitive Farm Wife and the Mennonite Farmhouse  plus dozens of other collaborators to bring you   Dairy content every day all month long. Check the  description box for a list of collaborators plus   an easy way to enter the giveaway. Now back to  the video. Boil your equipment to sterilize it. Plastic can't be boiled but it  can be sanitized by using vinegar.   Clean it first then spray it with a 50/50  vinegar mix. You'll need just two ingredients:   heavy whipping cream and cultured buttermilk.   This process is super simple. Simply pour two  cups (120 ml) of the whipping cream into the jar. And then you'll add three tablespoons  of the cultured buttermilk. and give it a light stir. Then you'll cover it. You can choose to use  something like a cheesecloth or even a coffee   filter and then just use the ring to cover it up.  Some suggest that airflow is necessary - I'm not   sure that's true - but if you think you should  do that go ahead and just do it like this. Or you can take a sanitized lid and  then just cover it completely.   And that's it! Just put it on the counter and  let it rest at 70-78 °F (21-26 °C) for 24 hours.   The next day you'll be rewarded with delicious  cultured cream. I wish I could show you how good   this smells! Let's take a look. It's normal to  see some separation at this point. It's a little   bit on the edges but look how thick that's  already becoming. Oh man that is fantastic! Incredible! I'm going to place it in the  refrigerator for 24 hours to thicken it up   a little bit more all right this is after 24 hours  in the fridge. I can't wait to see how it looks. It smells incredible! Oh my  goodness! It smells a little tangy,   very creamy, and it is so thick. I'm not even  sure how I'm going to get it out of there here.   It's a little, it's a little  bit of moisture. But look! Wow! That is super thick! All right. Let's scoop it up. Amazing.  Can't even get it off the spoon. So delicious. Oh hi! You've come to say hello!  She's been there the whole time. There is no comparison between store-bought  sour cream and homemade. The flavors are   just so much more rich and  intense and better developed. So good.
