Sunfounder's Uno R4 Elite Explorer Arduino Starter Kit (2024)

hello everybody and welcome back to insights in automation after going over the official Arduino starter kit we decided to take a look at all the other options on the market for Arduino starter kits we picked out three we thought were a good variety based on value and today we'll be looking at the premium package the sunfounder elite Explorer kit taking a look at the Box we get a nice print across the top much like the Arduino starter kit to be honest the entire box mimics the official kit in size but lacks the content description on the back it comes in at $95.99 as of the recording of this video unlike all the others this kit comes with an official Arduino Uno R4 a big upgrade over the older R3 chips let's go ahead and get this thing open when it first arrived it came tightly fit inside of an outer cardboard box inside this box we have a plastic container tightly fitting inside these plastic containers provide good long-term storage for when you're done with your projects and need to put it back on the shelf on the back of the title card we have a list of all the included components first we have the multi-purpose remote control a standard servo motor here we have a large breadboard much bigger than the starter kits or that of the budget kit we have a ribbon cable keypad a simple DC motor an ultrasonic module a small speaker I mistook for a thumb switch a collection of buttons switches and caps A small collection of LEDs a gy 8710 doof module a bag of electrical components containing a seven segment digital readout a 9volt relay an active and passive buzzer a dht11 a TA 6586 Chip and A 74hc 595 driver chip our collection of resistors here we have a USB a to type-c connector for the updated Uno R4 a soil moisture [Music] module an RFID module with a card and keychain for reading an audio amplifier module a small 64x64 OLED display our 16 character LCD display a small pump a stepper motor driver an MPR 121 module module a small tube for the pump a joystick module a stepper motor a small propeller a p motion sensor A breadboard power module with battery a set of male jumper cables and a ribbon of male to female jumpers are now empty plastic container and finally the Arduino Uno R4 specs are around the back of the box like the R3 inside we have our stick sers and a warranty booklet the Uno for comes pre-applied to a small shield and as you can see the included array of LEDs sets it apart along with the new USBC port on the side let's take a quick look at three the projects included inside the kit first we have a simple motion detection program next we have something unique to the R4 we're playing snake that's right the favorite game of millennial flip phone users now play it on the LED array on the R4 itself pretty neat even if I'm really not that good finally we have a simple program running text to our OLED display both static and moving as well as displaying a simple asky logo so having looked over this kit and having already gone through the others that we'll be demonstrating in later videos I can confidently say that this particular kit comes with a ton of amazing pieces that you can use for a variety of purposes with the pump and propeller you could make a remote control submarine or a basic calculator with the keypad and LCD want to make a basic RF id lock put the server motor in a container and unlock it with the card and reader so many possib abilities lie in what comes in this kit and the projects provided barely tap the surface of potential that this kit can provide the provided tutorials are rather basic but the online pdf provides ease of access to the various projects and programs with everything you get in the box you'll have enough to keep you making for weeks to come the only real issue I have is the price at $96 you're spending a whole lot while it certainly offers a better value than the official kit with an updated Uno R4 and a ton more kit to play with the Yu kit in our next video is going to offer almost identical versatility for almost half the price to see that make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications to catch the next upload anyways that's it for today thanks for watching insights in automation
