good day guys lockheed from van homes here  we're just around the corner at summersview   today about to install a double expanding  model stay tuned and we'll show you how   you too can get up to a 60 square meter  granny flat without any council approval so we've just leveled the van up and  the boys are sliding our adjustable legs   out now this is going to give us a nice  flat base for us to fold the floor onto next up we're going to lift the roof up  and we're going to fold the floor down   to meet the legs that we've just slid out  we mentioned earlier that van homes don't   require any council approval the reason  for this is because all van homes are   legally registered with caravans our  innovative system allows us to build   these on hinges so that they can hinge from  2.4 metres wide all the way out seven meters now because our vans are built on hinges a  common question that we get asked is do you   get any heat cold drafts dust that sort of  thing coming up through this hinge what tile   is actually doing is sealing it with some  foam tape to prevent any of that happening another common question that we get asked is  what are the requirements for us to be able   to comfortably install your van home on site we  always like to say that we need a relatively flat   and firm surface it means that we don't allow for  more than 300 millimeters of fall from the front   to the back or the left of the right of the van  the legs are adjustable which means if you've got   a flat surface that's a bit bumpy that's fine you  don't necessarily need a slab but we can't have a   big slope like this so we actually advise these  customers to do a cut and fill which they've done   all right so we've got the floor down on  the sidewall up all that's left to do is   to bring this end wall around and the boys  can start fitting our flashing and guttering so what the boys are doing in the background  here is fitting our flashing and guttering in   just a few short hours we've turned our 2.4  meter wide caravan into a seven meter wide   granny flat we mentioned earlier that this  is all done without any council approval   the reason for this is because in new south  wales there's a piece of legislation that says   you can have a caravan on your property  to accommodate a member of your household   without the prior approval of council this  means that our caravan can be cited in flood   zones fire zones under the minimum  block requirements and is going to   save you a ton of time and also a ton  of money in development applications just wanted to quickly touch on how you're being  home connected to services we internally pump and   wire everything at the factory so that you just  have to plug it in on site your water connects   to a garden hose your power connects through a  15 amp extension cord and all of your plumbing   just sits out of the bottom of the unit ready for  your plumber to come in the next day and connect   everything up to your system all van homes come  with lpg appliances as standard this means your   hot water system your cooktop and your oven can  all run off the same gas product if you don't   want lpg appliances that's completely fine we  just can't run it off the same 15 amp circuit   like we normally would if you do want electric  appliances what we do is we rig certain items   to a junction box under the van so that your  electrician can come in the next day and hard wire   it up on site don't worry this doesn't change your  legal status the same can be said with the aircon   the best place to put the aircon is actually  going to be on one of the folding walls which   means that we can't fit it in our factory because  we're going to have to fold it up for transport   what we recommend is contacting a local air  conditioning company getting them to come out   and fit the air conditioner of your choice and  the circuit's already here for them ready to go and we're all done a common question that  we get asked is can i customize the van   the answer to that question is yes as long as  those changes fit within our design constraints   our sales team will be able to help  you with any changes you're wanting   to make this customer has opted for an  l-shaped kitchen a larger bathroom some   full drop windows as well as some sliding  doors check it out and see what you think and we're all done here the boys  have done an excellent job once again   thanks for tuning in we'll  see you next time cheers
