hello hi hello hello hello hello welcome to the studio ghibli um reading sprints the kickoff the first one opening day opening day games you know exciting if we were gonna call it that anyway um hey guys my name is christine i'm one half of the roomies digest if you guys are around and you sprint with us you know monique is going to be working for at least another hour but she'll be in once she's off work so sweet uh hello my name's noel my channel is noel 7 pages um ready to rock and roll sweet i'm rachel my channel is called let me in the library i'm stressed uh perpetual state alright nothing's different it's it's like you know it's fun stress it's not like you know like work paying the bill stress it's like why you know book stuff so uh i'm excited to like do some sprints and like get some reading out of the way to reduce that a little bit for myself so yeah but i'm also so excited because it's like it's the read-a-thon it's our little brainchild that we've been uh you know talking about for like a little bit i know i don't know like a couple weeks or something and then it now it exists it's out there in the world and today's the first day it's amazing so yeah i feel like we did a ton of prep work so i'm glad that it all came together and we're not like wow we tried but we still feel no i mean i'm really proud everybody did like such a good job all the whole like an incredible job with their announcement videos which by the way if you guys are watching you haven't seen them yet you should go watch them because they're all great um but also just like all together making all the problems um christine making all of the tbr cards and stuff they are absolutely stunningly beautiful thank you thank you just have to say and you know we couldn't live without the discord so please to your own horn because rachel's the master yes master and just you know all-around manager of all of our lives so i just like to be in control i just may pick this chord and then anytime someone has a question i'm like hello the answering i've descended because i can always see it'll say like christine is typing or noel is typing i'm like but i'm faster my thumbs my thumbs cannot do it okay they're just like yeah anyway that's the shirt don't talk about my thumbs okay um so guys what should we talk about what we're reading i forgot to even say yeah um yeah so guys i'm going to be reading the queen of nothing already yeah i i have to start because i'm i'm buddy reading with nicoley and she literally sent me a she sent me a video today like not a text not like a dm on instagram just i mean like a video of herself and she was like hey by the way i started queen of nothing so these are my thoughts i'm almost done like you need to catch up immediately i'm like well that's my first book then i guess so i'm i'm reading this for the missing persons prompt which i think is my neighbor totoro i think you're right yeah anyway cool oh me um okay this may be blasphemy but like i am reading a book not on my tbr i'm trying to finish it today like wrapping up wrapping it up from may um but it's cool that now i'm can finish it during pride month i guess uh it's on a sunbeam it's like a sapphic graphic novel space opera book so far it's great but it's also like the chunkiest graphic novel in the world so it goes fast so it is oh my gosh it's gorgeous it's like a very like not emotional maybe atmospheric is the word i'm looking for but yeah so that's what i'll be working on it's a it is my boyfriend is passing me the wine over at the monitors perks um i don't know what to read i guess see i i really want to actually do some bullet journaling that's why i'm in my chaotic space right now with my little thing so i think i'm probably going to listen to wundersmith while i bullet journal which is the second book in the nevermoor series which is also left over from may for me i have a lot of leftovers but yeah so uh casey i see you here and we are buddy reading this so i don't think i'm gonna get that much done so casey don't worry but this buddy read has begun i've officially started it so that's what i'm up to what are you guys reading she was like can i have it and if you guys know monique she like doesn't draw or bullet journal or do you barely watch me yeah without one actor vlog and i was like you want a bullet journal with me and she was like not with you but i was like okay okay we might have a bullet journal video come out we might yeah i don't know we'll see what's going on with that but anyway hello hello hi why are you guys reading let us know the last book of may yeah i feel like you know a lot of people are doing that that's all right catch up a little ready to read yes we'll get there we're getting there still working but then i'll be ready to read oh dune nice one um have either you guys read dude i feel like this would be the crowd the three of us yeah it's like we should have probably already read it but and i don't even want like i want to read it but more than i want to read it i want to say that i have read it right i just want to look at it because it's pretty it's pretty so pretty um i know sahar tried to read it recently and she was like dnf so yes we talked about that on happy hour last week we talked about dune a lot actually it was funny yeah well because like the movie was coming out so i wanted to read it for that and then the movie got pushed and i was like well why would i put myself through this it was like never mind yeah like that's just silly hello sarah how's it um black water sister for bingery yeah we're about to binge read right now once i stop talking you know apart from this buddy read rachel just started i'm reading emergency contact oh that's their uh book club pick for the 20-something book club ooh i think it just won the poll well wait isn't that the poll for next month because i think this month it's on earth we're briefly gorgeous and then the next month it's going to be emergency contact but i know casey loved yoke so maybe she just can't wait she wants her emergency contact right away anyway so i was that the same author yeah mary h.k choi i didn't realize they were the same author for a while but yeah that's very cool yeah yoka's on my tbr but i did not know oh yeah i think joke was like casey's favorite book of either i think it came out this year so i think it was like her favorite book about 21. yeah it sounds really good i'm excited to read it pride and prejudice represent hello okay my babies um i hope you enjoy it or if it's a reread have fun yes um the checklist by addie woolridge to finish up my may reads but i'm almost halfway through so confident i will finish today and start ghibli tbr tomorrow yeah it's all right you know if you're wrapping up it's the middle of the week you know well sort of i guess it's tuesday but bullet journaling is fun i started one in the beginning of the year how's it going you keep it up i find a lot of people start and then they're like this is too much work i took a break but i filmed one today i filmed my jude one today so we're coming back in our group when you were like talking about it i remember thinking a couple days ago i was like when has noel put out a new video and i just missed it and then you addressed it and you were like yeah i know i just haven't i'm excited i can't wait yeah noelle i feel like your bullet journal videos like kind of inspired a lot of other people to also do certain things in their bullet journals so i say this every time i make a video i'm always like i gotta go well noelle go check out her page it's down below every time i should just like wear a hat that says yeah um yes niddy can't wait for you to be here 3k okay thank you thank you congrats i was so excited you guys well i'm excited too i'm excited too anyway we have some fun stuff playing with the pre-k guys fun stuff planned um i'm starting the five the until lives strange the dreamer or freak or fury wow furry born no no um hold on noelle didn't you just finish the second book in this series this duology what's the second uh yeah news and nightmares yes oh oh strange the dreamer yeah um i hated music nightmares but strange the dreamer is really really really really good so my advice would be treat it like a standalone sorry i thought i thought range the dreamer ends with like a big cliffhanger that wants makes you want to read i mean it does it does um but but like skip it anyway like read the words and then stop yeah well do whatever you want really at this point that's what i say um i just finished the trilogy daughter of smoke and bone by laini taylor guys it was really good it's really good so if you're looking for a little why a fantasy get it get it this is such a doom crowd accurate yeah we all know this means we need the dune t-shirts that we can wear and then act like we've read it i need these friends i can get through secret history oh secret history secret history i finished the van apple girls are gone for missing person prom today now i'm on divine fine okay from mythical world many people have actually completed prompts already and i'm like girls it's day one what how did you do that and like so somebody posted like five prompts that they finished today and it was like 2 p.m and i was like i was impressed wow and then i also have to assume that maybe that person is a student or something you know what i mean i don't know i mean they it's a lot i don't know they weren't even just graphic novels but i think they were actually like pretty books yeah which is great page books or something so very well done i'm very impressed with like everyone who's completed something so far probably so good honestly like if you started at 12 last night and you're taking this readathon seriously i commend you i'm so impressed yeah we are also taking it seriously but we also you know have we also are yeah we have a lot going on i'm loving do so far the addition i have is seriously beautiful is it the one with the sprayed edges the blue sprayed edges because that one is my god that one is pretty okay yes um i'm about to start eva evergreen okay this is another one yeah it's cool this might be i need to look up this book okay when we start talking about amazing dune castle oh yeah i only know huh i only know about timothy is there anybody else like timothees and daya um really yeah there are older people that are also in the cast i can't remember any of them at this time listen so oh never mind i was gonna say tom holland but that's chaos walking i think oh yeah i saw that and i really did not even know that chaos walking was about what it was about you know what i mean yeah i think it was a book as well that's being advertised but yeah and i was like oh okay anyway i think it's i it looks good who knows you just read your message yeah funny buddy read read are you guys doing all the prompts well yes i don't want to say yes because then i definitely will do it and i shouldn't but maybe maybe i'll do like at least half of the prompts don't hold yourself back just an iron start looking at the bingo board and i found queen of nothing worked for like six prompts so i probably will end up doing at least half of the board that's a good thing about studio ghibli you know you get the themes from one movie and they can all kind of be yeah everything kind of like works together yeah um iconic can't have blood right that sweatshirt you love it um i never use friends to read always do everything but read cleaning exercising cetera but tonight i'll actually be reading for once me and my tiny ass copy of howls yes i just got the um whole collection the jones collection so house castle in the air and house of many ways like which one did you get because we were talking about which versions to buy did you get the old school the cutesy whimsical ones yeah yeah i think the newer ones were just a little too new for me knowing what i know about the story you know i'm like this just doesn't fit the aesthetic it's a very different vibe from like it looks like paint thrown on the wall versus like we've seen how it's moving castle so you know there's some folks who are uh hanging out don't forget we are streaming howl's moving castle tomorrow so come hang out and do that with us yes we're gonna on my tbr for the read-a-thon which prompts are you reading it for rachel knows me so well i'm terry cohn casey of course excited to get started reading convenience oh i really like that one yeah i heard good things about those yeah it's a great book i use bullet journaling for readathons and not as bad as i thought it would i just have to remember to keep doing it that's actually really really smart because i feel like for different readathons especially one like this like a month long you have so many prompts so many things you want to do and then you want to like keep up with like streaming like you know whatever else hashtags i don't even know i'm glad that that helps thank you thank you thank you thank you yeah it was really kind of shocking i'm like what's even happening what is life imagine furry all right i have i didn't invent this joke it's just really easy to say i know cindy's also made this joke and i think all the furries came for cindy so please don't don't this is not what i want oh god i'm pretty sure craven manor is a haunted house book oh okay that makes sense yeah i was thinking craven because of from blood and ash and i need to just forget that like that crave book that's like twilight yeah also similar you know creature magic creature fantasy excuse me um this is me all the time yeah it's just honestly reading out loud i have an issue with it if it makes you feel any better like i recognize that's uh not everyone's opinion a hot dog it's actually pretty well beloved it just didn't work out for me so like give it a try but also you know completed challenges so you can tell us like what stuff you're up to there yes sorry there's a nap i completed three prompts and oh yeah audiobooks yes i don't know why i forgot about those oh yeah story graph challenge which was very very nice of them and i totally forgot that that was something that people do i wanna say it's at the beginning of the book rex and tbr's channel um i'm gonna go like one giant bingo board that looks kind of like this so you can like scroll through it and figure out what counts the most but um i don't really know what that book involves so i couldn't answer the stuff like missing person that kind of stuff it's another competition is it a competition yeah i think it's three sisters are competing for are competing for the crown and they have like different magical um abilities or like things that they can control um it's definitely set in like a magical world you could binge read it for right now because we're about to sprint that could be the prompt for that um maybe a flamboyant main character maybe yeah maybe or a fiery spicy character oh yeah the one girl can like control fire so you could literally have it for that um i think if that's the book that i'm thinking of if it's not then i'm terribly sorry i'm mistaken but it'll definitely count for at least two prompts yeah it'll definitely count for binge read for show like anything can count for that so for these prompts yes yes yes thank you i'm not sure what that's for i'm using yo for sibling relationship and mental health rep that's a good one for that and some time with my hero academia for the flamboyant prompt which i found out there isn't a main character but i'm too lazy to change it then i'll move on to there's definitely a main character yeah right here you can count iron widow oh guys i told you i can't read i actually have an arc for this i'm really excited to read it what's it about i don't remember i just really like the author um i don't know if you guys saw this but the author was the person who was making those videos about like uh the live action mulan and being like none of this stuff is accurate because of this this this and then they also have a couple of other threads about like the 1996 mulan and like some various other things so um then they were like by the way i'm also writing a book so i was like cool request immediately and i actually got it and i was really excited for it so um i'm gonna look it up right now remember off the top my head was about but it is hitting my netgalley shelf right now well so the cover looks really cool looks like this it is widow by the way not window yes oh yeah it's supposed to be kind of like um pacific rim but other stuff i think it looks amazing there's another book that's related to like pacific rim called gear breakers which is also coming out this summer i think yeah the description says giant transforming robots yeah that is very cool it could just be the blurb on the book rachel it's like pacific rim but other stuff left me in the library this is why i'm not allowed this is why i rarely even post on my channel i would have to make a code your thought that is not clouded by editing this is why that would be so funny hold on that would be so funny if you did that with your neck stuff if you did like fake quotes sort of i'm having i'm having a moment where i think that sounds really fun i know i know i know where you're going you know what i mean i'm like could i make some media for let me in the library and put it on instagram or something that would be cool oh my god rachel that would be so funny your your quotes there's always so much stupid stuff i say during every single live show at least you can read so point okay the first one is going to be fury born in which i go furry born and that's the whole quote okay i'm just i'm going to think about that and i might start something on that tonight oh god sounds so cool yeah they make videos about chinese cultural impact and african films yeah they're awesome i love them so much your breakers does look so good also yeah the cover of your breakers also looks incredible yeah it just looks amazing i'm like i requested that neg alley and they were like no it's in high demand i know because it looks so cool here we go it is going to be so good i'm all excited um so do you guys want to do a sprint i would love to do a sprint now that we've been talking about so cool it is so beautiful yeah i don't want to talk about it because i didn't get the freaking christine is like i'm just actually but to be fair on our net galley all of our arcs and stuff don't come out until like end of june july so we haven't actually done any uh reviews or anything interesting don't make a review until the day it comes out like did they give you an email that says that i never get those or if i do i don't open them not like on purposes don't see that i don't think we got that email but also i don't want to read it too early because i want to be able to authentically talk about it in the wrap up so yeah yeah that's like personal choice for me but um i think i have to read one for july because i think it comes out like the beginning of july so um this might be the first one i actually do on time if i actually read it early but um every time that like i request stuff on netgalley i usually read it after it's released and then i'll go back and i'll write my review if i remember so i am not the person to ask about this that's when you type in your quote about the book um i think noel just got a book late like a while ago like a week ago or something like that yeah you get it after it came out already yeah like a month after it came out i was like what are you doing to me i'm trying to stay on top of my game and i guess either the book wasn't selling or they didn't have enough reviews so like after it was fully out then they sent me an arc i'm like why what is the reason i think actually yeah i think the same thing happened because that's how i got a dark queen rises which is the sequel to upon a burning throne which at the time i hadn't even read yet and they just like gave me the audiobook arc a month late and i was like cool so this archives on the 15th today is the first i need to read the first and second book immediately and they're both like 20 hour books so thank you publishing very fun of you interesting that you say that because i i got an arc for a book it's the second book in a fantasy series and the first one hasn't even come out yet and i was like what's happening you know yeah the first one comes out this month and then the next one apparently comes out in july and i'm like it's fine but yeah but i have to like go and find the first one now and i'm like why did i request this if i knew this was the second book anyway that's wild my decisions um but yeah okay let's rent for a little bit and then we'll come back to comments and we'll chitchat um though because i had like um project hail mary and it was like 700 pages and i was like really i thought this was like a 400 page book or less or something and it just like got set up that way for some reason i think that's weird not just you sometimes it doesn't convert well um let's see when i use netgalley because i get two angels yeah wait a second what leader c what books are in the thing above your icon's head cause they kind of look like sleeping giants but maybe not oh like they do like they're in the wrong order probably so it's probably not the thing we're all just this close but yeah why are we so little in the screen is that just is that just like how i'm looking at it or are we little maybe because of this no i don't know yeah no if you if you um highlight a comment then we get really small oh my god i'm just clicking buttons this is not ah sorry i mean when i first got this human oh because i still have the thing up okay the better silly me oh that doesn't really you know make it that much bigger but a little bit bigger a little bit better um what if you never loved reading in childhood but need it for the last prompt on the award what you should do is um read a book about something that you loved in your childhood hmm there you go if you were like i loved cookies then read a book that features cookies in it oh yeah what a good um thing to love as well jayla to do to survive and he's like oh my god i'm scared of them but now he's like part ghoul so he has to sort of like deal with that whole situation of being like do i have to eat people now but i don't want to but i'm still a good person and no one is ostracized so it's a pretty interesting story i read six volumes of it for book club it was a really interesting like discussion that we had about like what i mean like i treat like a almost like a diary and a journal and a planner so like i don't throw my diaries out just because i finished writing in them right you look back on that so yeah yeah i definitely hold on to my also because like for me bullet journaling is very helpful to remember what i've done so back when i used to bullet journal really consistently all the time people are like what did we do on tuesday and it was like tuesday the 17th right i was feeling okay i read pages and i'm like i have the knowledge because i had the bullet journal right so it was a tool at the moment but it's good for like looking back on memories yeah sure yeah i'm definitely a journal person i like keep personal like journals as well so i just kind of hoard everything until the end of time okay i gotta look this up drop it yeah um yes the wiki can understand but i was just mad from the very start yeah it's okay if you don't like it i know a lot of people don't from the very start to this yeah i'm currently still using my first journal but i definitely will keep it on my bookshelves yeah just fun fun to go back to so attach everyone on iq that i'm scared to get back into it phone's dead i can't bullet journal which means i have to switch books so now i'm reading fox 8 by george saunders which is not even on my tbr this month but it's really cute and i was laughing my ass off during the sprints silently and then right before the sprints ended something really sad happened i was like rachel sent her tbr and it's like a whole page with both sides i know all the books how do you how i don't even want it no it's not in i'm i didn't write everything down yet but i'm also crossing stuff out because it's inappropriate attack like right in there it is valid obviously i would never cross that out i would never commit that hate crime for you thank you i really love the rollover section as well and that tbr pages yeah the leftovers and stuff yeah there's a lot these are pretty chunky books too like prior of the orange tree bro that is not like 900 yeah i didn't know that was one there um that one's like a long form buddy read though that i'm doing with like four people long before they read it it'll get done when it gets done yeah you could i feel already excited to like roast you in your dream wrap-up remember rachel when you posted a tbr with your whole 19.99 people can remember what you read you too can remember good reads cause like i feel like i should do that because that's where i go to look at my ratings then i realized i didn't wrap up so that goodreads like as soon as you finish a book i don't want to be like you regularly i want to i write down that i've read it but i meant like reviews because like for my wrap-ups don't y'all write like a paragraph or something to like talk about i don't know i did read through these are usually like full paragraphs long run usually if i didn't like it then they're full paragraph if i liked it it's like four stars good job like not no information so if i went back and i read it again i was like why did i even like this maybe i'll reduce the rating because i obviously didn't write very much about it yeah the more i write the more likely it is i hated the book so if i feel strongly about a book i feel like i'm immediately going to like put it on goodreads but if it was just like a good read like normal just put the star rating no i won't even put the star it'd just be really just ready to post about it like it was good yeah i think i think it depends like i think if i liked the book and not a lot of people liked it then i'll write about it and say why i liked it and then like reverse like if a lot of people liked it but i didn't like it then i'll say a lot you know i think it's just the act of me going to goodreads i will put something in the box if i go to goodreads to do it like yeah it's just me being like okay today's the day i'm gonna update goodreads that's where i'm at up and she was like oh yeah i've seen this and now we're back to like the beginning of the conversation again the thing i'm like oh it looks familiar but i really have no idea of the plot like you're talking about a war i have no idea exactly okay to be fair the war isn't very well explained the reason why the movie doesn't make sense to me is because it's based off this book and and what i mean by that is the book goes into detail about everything that happens in the movie but the movie didn't have enough time to do that so the movie doesn't really make sense i think sometimes okay whereas so i don't think that was their intention to make sense i literally remember because i had to like look up stuff about how to defend it to nitty to be like well it's good and then there was a whole paragraph where it was like hayao miyazaki purposefully wrote how's moving castle to not appeal to americans and i was like interesting yeah you as he should yeah yeah it's very like you know mystical like you know yeah maybe that was it maybe i just wrote it away in my memory box because i'm sure i will recognize something well and i think that was the first ghibli movie i've seen and if that's what you start i guess most people watch that one first but i was just i don't know it's always been key keys for me but today i was going through and looking up gifts and i s the wind rises i was literally screaming because he's like please stop screaming now so i ah i don't know okay i rewatched it this weekend and the first half of the movie is so different from the second half so you have to finish it to understand it i've never seen it but i will be watching that for sure i was like what is going on yeah i was like don't tell me spoilers okay yeah i watched like the first 15 minutes of it and then i had to leave from somewhere that it was but i really want to watch it so emotionally not even mentally prepared yeah i'm so excited honestly i'm so glad that we're streaming all these like she really liked daisy jones yeah and that kind of thing i mean who doesn't like daisy jones right we love daisy but i'll get there um yeah daily updates it is hard but i really be on the app though i'm just like and like rachel i commented on something recently and i was like yes i wish i could mention people on goodreads yeah that's the only thing i don't know everyone complains about a lot of goodreads features and i mostly agree but the one i'm most like frustrated with is that like the reply feature and you can't like add me or anything i'm like how does this why would you even have to go to like the website and click reply yeah and then even then i'm like i guess this will alert the person but it'd be so much easier to just like have it be like an ad quote like technically
